As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the
ruler of the
synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.
But Jesus overheard their conversation and said to Jairus, “Do not be afraid; just believe.”
But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to
rule over the Gentiles exercise
lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them.
So Jesus called them together and said, “You know that those regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their superiors exercise authority over them.
But take
heed to
yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye shall be brought before
rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them.
So be on your guard. You will be delivered over to the councils and beaten in the synagogues. On My account you will stand before governors and kings as witnesses to them.
He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and
exalted them of low degree.
He has brought down
rulers from their thrones, but has
exalted the humble.
And, behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a
ruler of the
synagogue: and he fell down at Jesus’ feet, and
besought him that he would come into his house:
Just then a
synagogue leader named Jairus came and fell at Jesus’ feet. He
begged Him to come to his house,
While he yet spake, there cometh one from the
ruler of the
synagogue’s house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master.
While He was still speaking, someone arrived from the house of the
synagogue leader. “Your daughter is dead,” he told Jairus. “Do not bother the Teacher anymore.”
And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates, and powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say:
When you are brought before synagogues,
rulers, and authorities, do not
worry about how to defend
yourselves or what to say.
And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise
steward, whom his lord shall make
ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?
And the Lord answered, “Who then is the faithful and wise
manager, whom the master puts in charge of his servants to give them their portion at the proper time?
Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath.
Truly I tell you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions.
And the
ruler of the
synagogue answered with
indignation, because that Jesus had
healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be
healed, and not on the sabbath day.
But the
synagogue leader was
indignant that Jesus had
healed on the Sabbath. “There are six days for work,” he told the crowd. “So come and be
healed on those days and not on the Sabbath.”
And a certain
ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to
inherit eternal life?
Then a certain
ruler asked Him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to
inherit eternal life?”
And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.
But when the
ruler heard this, he became very
sad, because he was extremely wealthy.
But his citizens
hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us.
But his subjects
hated him and sent a
delegation after him to say, ‘We do not want this man to
rule over us.’
But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring
hither, and
slay them before me.
And these enemies of mine who were unwilling for me to
rule over them, bring them here and
slay them in front of me.’”
And they watched him, and sent forth
spies, which should
feign themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they might deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor.
So they watched Him closely and sent
spies who pretended to be
sincere. They were hoping to catch Him in His words in order to hand Him over to the
rule and authority of the governor.
But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and
persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and
rulers for my name’s sake.
But before all this, they will seize you and
persecute you. On account of My name they will deliver you to the synagogues and prisons, and they will bring you before kings and governors.
And
Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the
rulers and the people,
Then
Pilate called together the chief priests, the
rulers, and the people,
And the people stood beholding. And the
rulers also with them
derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God.
The people stood watching, and the
rulers sneered at Him, saying, “He saved others; let Him save Himself if He is the Christ of God, the Chosen One.”
And how the chief priests and our
rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and have
crucified him.
Our chief priests and
rulers delivered Him up to the sentence of death, and they
crucified Him.
When the
ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the
bridegroom,
and the master of the
banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not know where it was from, but the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the
bridegroom aside
But, lo, he speaketh boldly, and they say nothing unto him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is the very Christ?
Yet here He is, speaking publicly, and they are not saying anything to Him. Have the rulers truly recognized that this is the Christ?
Have any of the
rulers or of the
Pharisees believed on him?
“Have any of the
rulers or
Pharisees believed in Him?
Nevertheless among the chief
rulers also many believed on him; but because of the
Pharisees they did not
confess him, lest they should be put out of the
synagogue:
Nevertheless, many of the leaders believed in Him; but because of the
Pharisees they did not
confess Him, for fear that they would be put out of the
synagogue.
And now, brethren, I
wot that through ignorance ye did it, as did also your
rulers.
And now, brothers, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did your leaders.
And it came to pass on the
morrow, that their
rulers, and elders, and
scribes,
The next day the
rulers, elders, and
scribes assembled in Jerusalem,
Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,
Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers and elders of the people!
The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ.
The kings of the earth take their stand and the
rulers gather together against the Lord and against His
Anointed One.’
And delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favour and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house.
and
rescued him from all his troubles. He granted Joseph favor and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt, who appointed him
ruler over Egypt and all his household.
But he that did his neighbour wrong thrust him away, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge over us?
But the man who was
abusing his
neighbor pushed Moses aside and said, ‘Who made you
ruler and judge over us?
This Moses whom they refused, saying, Who made thee a
ruler and a judge? the same did God send to be a
ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the
bush.
This Moses, whom they had rejected with the words, ‘Who made you
ruler and judge?’ is the one whom God sent to be their
ruler and
redeemer through the angel who appeared to him in the
bush.
And after the reading of the law and the prophets the
rulers of the
synagogue sent unto them, saying, Ye men and brethren, if ye have any word of
exhortation for the people, say on.
After the reading from the Law and the Prophets, the
synagogue leaders sent word to them: “Brothers, if you have a word of encouragement for the people, please speak.”
For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their
rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in
condemning him.
The people of Jerusalem and their
rulers did not recognize Jesus, yet in
condemning Him they fulfilled the words of the prophets that are read every Sabbath.
And when there was an
assault made both of the Gentiles, and also of the Jews with their
rulers, to use them
despitefully, and to stone them,
But when the Gentiles and Jews, together with their rulers, set out to mistreat and stone them,
And when her masters saw that the hope of their gains was gone, they caught Paul and
Silas, and drew them into the marketplace unto the
rulers,
When the
girl’s owners saw that their hope of making money was gone, they seized Paul and
Silas and
dragged them before the authorities in the marketplace.
And when they found them not, they drew
Jason and certain brethren unto the
rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world
upside down are come
hither also;
But when they could not find them, they
dragged Jason and some other brothers before the city officials,
shouting, “These men who have turned the world
upside down have now come here,
And they troubled the people and the rulers of the city, when they heard these things.
On hearing this, the crowd and city officials were greatly disturbed.
And Crispus, the chief
ruler of the
synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the
Corinthians hearing believed, and were
baptized.
Crispus, the
synagogue leader, and his whole household believed in the Lord. And many of the
Corinthians who heard the message believed and were
baptized.
Then all the Greeks took Sosthenes, the chief
ruler of the
synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat. And
Gallio cared for none of those things.
At this, the crowd seized Sosthenes the
synagogue leader and beat him in front of the judgment seat. But none of this was of
concern to
Gallio.
Then said Paul, I
wist not, brethren, that he was the high priest: for it is written, Thou shalt not speak evil of the
ruler of thy people.
“Brothers,” Paul replied, “I was not aware that he was the high priest, for it is written: ‘Do not speak evil about the ruler of your people.’”
For
rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil.
Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:
For
rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Do you want to be unafraid of the one in authority? Then do what is right, and you will have his
approval.
And again, Esaias saith, There shall be a root of
Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles trust.
And once more, Isaiah says: “The Root of
Jesse will appear, One who will arise to
rule over the Gentiles; in Him the Gentiles will put their hope.”
Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to
nought:
Among the
mature, however, we speak a message of wisdom—but not the wisdom of this age or of the
rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing.
Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have
crucified the Lord of glory.
None of the
rulers of this age understood it. For if they had, they would not have
crucified the Lord of glory.
Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
Then the end will come, when He hands over the kingdom to God the Father after He has destroyed all dominion, authority, and power.
But we will not
boast of things without our measure, but according to the measure of the
rule which God hath distributed to us, a measure to reach even unto you.
We, however, will not
boast beyond our limits, but only within the field of influence that God has assigned to us—a field that reaches even to you.
Not
boasting of things without our measure, that is, of other men’s labours; but having hope, when your faith is increased, that we shall be enlarged by you according to our
rule abundantly,
Neither do we
boast beyond our limits in the labors of others. But we hope that as your faith increases, our area of influence among you will greatly increase as well,
And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.
Peace and mercy to all who walk by this rule, even to the Israel of God.
Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.
Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
in which you used to walk when you
conformed to the ways of this world and of the
ruler of the power of the air, the spirit who is now at work in the sons of disobedience.
To the intent that now unto the
principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the
manifold wisdom of God,
His purpose was that now, through the church, the
manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the
rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms,
For we
wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against
principalities, against powers, against the
rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this world’s darkness, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
Nevertheless,
whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same
rule, let us mind the same thing.
Nevertheless, we must live up to what we have already attained.
For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or
principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
For in Him all things were created, things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities. All things were created through Him and for Him.
And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
And you have been made complete in Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority.
And let the peace of God
rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye
thankful.
Let the peace of Christ
rule in your hearts, for to this you were called as members of one body. And be
thankful.
One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;
An
overseer must
manage his own household well and keep his children under control, with complete dignity.
(For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)
For if someone does not know how to
manage his own household, how can he care for the church of God?
Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.
Elders who lead effectively are worthy of double honor, especially those who work hard at preaching and teaching.
Likewise, a
competitor does not receive the crown unless he competes according to the
rules.
Put them in mind to be subject to
principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,
Remind the believers to submit to
rulers and authorities, to be
obedient and ready for every good work,
Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.
Remember your leaders who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and
imitate their faith.
Obey them that have the
rule over you, and submit
yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.
Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they watch over your souls as those who must give an account. To this end, allow them to lead with joy and not with grief, for that would be of no advantage to you.
Salute all them that have the
rule over you, and all the saints. They of Italy
salute you.
Greet all your leaders and all the saints. Those from Italy send you greetings.
And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first
begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the
firstborn from the dead, and the
ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him who loves us and has released us from our sins by His blood,
And he shall
rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a
potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.
He will
rule them with an iron
scepter and
shatter them like pottery—just as I have received authority from My Father.
And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is
Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name
Apollyon.
They were
ruled by a king, the angel of the
Abyss. His name in Hebrew is
Abaddon, and in Greek it is
Apollyon.
And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.
And she gave birth to a son, a male child, who will
rule all the nations with an iron
scepter. And her child was caught up to God and to His throne.
And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.
And the woman you saw is the great city that rules over the kings of the earth.”
And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should
smite the nations: and he shall
rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of
Almighty God.
And from His mouth proceeds a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and He will
rule them with an iron
scepter. He treads the winepress of the
fury of the wrath of God the
Almighty.
O ye men, do not men
excel in strength that bear
rule over sea and land and all things in them?
O ye men, it is not the great king, nor the multitude of men, neither is it wine, that excelleth; who is it then that
ruleth them, or hath the
lordship over them? are they not women?
Women have borne the king and all the people that bear rule by sea and land.
Moreover he wrote for all the Jews that went out of his realm up into
Jewry, concerning their freedom, that no officer, no
ruler, no lieutenant, nor
treasurer, should
forcibly enter into their doors;
The copy of the letters which Sisinnes, governor of Syria and Phenice, and Sathrabuzanes, with their companions,
rulers in Syria and Phenice, wrote and sent unto
Darius; To king
Darius,
greeting:
And the holy vessels of gold and of silver, that Nabuchodonosor had carried away out of the house at Jerusalem, and had set them in his own temple those Cyrus the king brought forth again out of the temple at Babylon, and they were delivered to Zorobabel and to Sanabassarus the ruler,
And also he commanded that Sisinnes the governor of Syria and Phenice, and Sathrabuzanes, and their companions, and those which were appointed
rulers in Syria and Phenice, should be careful not to
meddle with the place, but suffer Zorobabel, the servant of the Lord, and governor of
Judea, and the elders of the Jews, to build the house of the Lord in that place.
Now when these things were done, the rulers came unto me, and said,
For both they and their sons have married with their daughters, and the holy seed is mixed with the strange people of the land; and from the beginning of this matter the rulers and the great men have been partakers of this iniquity.
And that
whosoever met not there within two or three days according as the elders that bare
rule appointed, their cattle should be seized to the use of the temple, and himself cast out from them that were of the captivity.
Therefore let the rulers of the multitude stay, and let all them of our habitations that have strange wives come at the time appointed,
And with them the rulers and judges of every place, till we turn away the wrath of the Lord from us for this matter.
O Lord, who bearest
rule, thou spakest at the beginning, when thou
didst plant the earth, and that
thyself alone, and commandedst the people,
Then answered I and said, O Lord that bearest rule, even we all are full of impiety.
And even he shall rule, whom they look not for that dwell upon the earth, and the fowls shall take their flight away together:
And said, O Lord that bearest rule, of every wood of the earth, and of all the trees thereof, thou hast chosen thee one only vine:
And I said, O Lord that bearest rule, who may know these things, but he that hath not his dwelling with men?
I answered then and said, O Lord that bearest rule, if I have found favour in thy sight,
Who then could go into the sea to look upon it, and to rule it? if he went not through the narrow, how could he come into the broad?
Then answered I and said, O Lord that bearest
rule, thou hast ordained in thy law, that the righteous should
inherit these things, but that the ungodly should perish.
And the work shall follow, and the reward shall be shewed, and the good deeds shall be of force, and wicked deeds shall bear no rule.
Hear thou that hast borne rule over the earth so long: this I say unto thee, before thou beginnest to appear no more,
Then I
beheld, and, lo, in process of time the feathers that followed stood up upon the right side, that they might
rule also; and some of them
ruled, but within a while they appeared no more:
For some of them were set up, but ruled not.
And I
beheld, and, lo, the feathers that were under the wing thought to set up themselves and to have the
rule.
But this head put the whole earth in fear, and bare
rule in it over all those that dwelt upon the earth with much oppression; and it had the
governance of the world more than all the wings that had been.
But there remained the two heads, which also in like sort ruled upon the earth, and over those that dwelt therein.
And I said, Lord that bearest rule, if I have found grace before thy sight, and if I am justified with thee before many others, and if my prayer indeed be come up before thy face;
