Hear the word of the LORD, ye
rulers of
Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of
Gomorrah.
Hear the word of the LORD, you
rulers of
Sodom;
listen to the instruction of our God, you people of
Gomorrah!
Thy princes are
rebellious, and companions of
thieves: every one loveth gifts, and followeth after rewards: they judge not the fatherless, neither
doth the cause of the widow come unto them.
Your
rulers are rebels, friends of
thieves. They all love bribes and
chasing after rewards. They do not defend the fatherless, and the
plea of the widow never comes before them.
And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them.
“I will make mere lads their leaders, and children will rule over them.”
When a man shall take hold of his brother of the house of his father, saying, Thou hast clothing, be thou our ruler, and let this ruin be under thy hand:
A man will seize his brother within his father’s house: “You have a
cloak—you be our leader! Take charge of this
heap of
rubble.”
In that day shall he
swear, saying, I will not be an
healer; for in my house is neither bread nor clothing: make me not a
ruler of the people.
On that day he will cry
aloud: “I am not a
healer. I have no food or clothing in my house. Do not make me leader of the people!”
As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women
rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to
err, and destroy the way of thy paths.
Youths
oppress My people, and women
rule over them. O My people, your guides mislead you; they turn you from your paths.
For he saith, By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I am
prudent: and I have removed the bounds of the people, and have
robbed their treasures, and I have put down the inhabitants like a
valiant man:
For he says: ‘By the strength of my hand I have done this, and by my wisdom, for I am
clever. I have removed the boundaries of nations and
plundered their treasures; like a mighty one I subdued their
rulers.
And the people shall take them, and bring them to their place: and the house of Israel shall possess them in the land of the LORD for servants and handmaids: and they shall take them
captives, whose
captives they were; and they shall
rule over their oppressors.
The nations will
escort Israel and bring it to its homeland. Then the house of Israel will possess the nations as menservants and maidservants in the LORD’s land. They will make
captives of their captors and
rule over their oppressors.
The LORD hath broken the staff of the wicked, and the
sceptre of the
rulers.
The LORD has broken the staff of the wicked, the
scepter of the
rulers.
He who
smote the people in wrath with a continual stroke, he that
ruled the nations in anger, is
persecuted, and none hindereth.
It struck the peoples in anger with unceasing blows; it subdued the nations in
rage with relentless persecution.
Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations.
Sheol beneath is eager to meet you upon your arrival. It stirs the spirits of the dead to
greet you— all the
rulers of the earth. It makes all the kings of the nations rise from their thrones.
Send ye the lamb to the
ruler of the land from Sela to the wilderness, unto the mount of the daughter of
Zion.
Send the tribute lambs to the
ruler of the land, from Sela in the desert to the mount of Daughter
Zion.
For the fields of
Heshbon languish, and the vine of Sibmah: the lords of the heathen have broken down the principal plants thereof, they are come even unto Jazer, they
wandered through the wilderness: her branches are stretched out, they are gone over the sea.
For the fields of
Heshbon have
withered, along with the grapevines of Sibmah. The
rulers of the nations have
trampled its choicest vines, which had reached as far as Jazer and spread toward the desert. Their shoots had spread out and passed over the sea.
And the Egyptians will I give over into the hand of a cruel lord; and a fierce king shall rule over them, saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts.
I will deliver the Egyptians into the hands of harsh masters, and a fierce king will rule over them,” declares the Lord GOD of Hosts.
All thy rulers are fled together, they are bound by the archers: all that are found in thee are bound together, which have fled from far.
All your rulers have fled together, captured without a bow. All your fugitives were captured together, having fled to a distant place.
Wherefore hear the word of the LORD, ye
scornful men, that
rule this people which is in Jerusalem.
Therefore hear the word of the LORD, O scoffers who rule this people in Jerusalem.
For the LORD hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered.
For the LORD has poured out on you a spirit of deep sleep. He has shut your eyes, O prophets; He has covered your heads, O seers.
Wherefore the Lord said,
Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the
precept of men:
Therefore the Lord said: “These people draw near to Me with their mouths and honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me. Their worship of Me is but rules taught by men.
Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall rule in judgment.
Behold, a king will reign in righteousness, and princes will rule with justice.
Behold, the Lord GOD will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.
Behold, the Lord GOD comes with might, and His arm establishes His
rule. His reward is with Him, and His
recompense accompanies Him.
That bringeth the princes to nothing; he maketh the judges of the earth as vanity.
He brings the princes to nothing and makes the rulers of the earth meaningless.
Who raised up the righteous man from the east, called him to his foot, gave the nations before him, and made him
rule over kings? he gave them as the dust to his sword, and as driven
stubble to his bow.
Who has
aroused one from the east and called him to his feet in righteousness? He hands nations over to him and subdues kings before him. He turns them to dust with his sword, to windblown
chaff with his bow.
I have raised up one from the north, and he shall come: from the rising of the sun shall he call upon my name: and he shall come upon princes as upon
morter, and as the
potter treadeth clay.
I have raised up one from the north, and he has come— one from the east who calls on My name. He will march over
rulers as if they were mortar, like a
potter who treads the clay.
The
carpenter stretcheth out his
rule; he marketh it out with a line; he fitteth it with planes, and he marketh it out with the compass, and maketh it after the figure of a man, according to the beauty of a man; that it may remain in the house.
The woodworker extends a measuring line; he marks it out with a
stylus; he shapes it with chisels and outlines it with a compass. He fashions it in the likeness of man, like man in all his glory, that it may dwell in a
shrine.
Thus saith the LORD, the
Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to him whom man despiseth, to him whom the nation abhorreth, to a servant of
rulers, Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the LORD that is faithful, and the Holy One of Israel, and he shall choose thee.
Thus says the LORD, the
Redeemer and Holy One of Israel, to Him who was
despised and
abhorred by the nation, to the Servant of
rulers: “Kings will see You and rise, and princes will bow down, because of the LORD, who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen You.”
Now therefore, what have I here, saith the LORD, that my people is taken away for
nought? they that
rule over them make them to
howl, saith the LORD; and my name continually every day is
blasphemed.
And now what have I here? declares the LORD. For My people have been taken without cause; those who
rule them
taunt, declares the LORD, and My name is
blasphemed continually all day long.
For brass I will bring gold, and for iron I will bring silver, and for wood brass, and for stones iron: I will also make thy officers peace, and thine exactors righteousness.
Instead of bronze I will bring you gold; I will bring silver in place of iron, bronze instead of wood, and iron instead of stones. I will
appoint peace as your governor and righteousness as your
ruler.
We are thine: thou never barest rule over them; they were not called by thy name.
We have become like those You never ruled, like those not called by Your name.
The prophets
prophesy falsely, and the priests bear
rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?
The prophets
prophesy falsely, and the priests
rule by their own authority. My people love it so, but what will you do in the end?
Thus saith the LORD, Write ye this man childless, a man that shall not
prosper in his days: for no man of his seed shall
prosper, sitting upon the throne of David, and ruling any more in Judah.
This is what the LORD says: “
Enroll this man as childless, a man who will not
prosper in his lifetime. None of his descendants will
prosper to sit on the throne of David or to
rule again in Judah.”
And their nobles shall be of themselves, and their governor shall proceed from the midst of them; and I will cause him to draw near, and he shall approach unto me: for who is this that engaged his heart to approach unto me? saith the LORD.
Their leader will be one of their own, and their
ruler will arise from their midst. And I will bring him near, and he will approach Me, for who would
dare on his own to approach Me?” declares the LORD.
Then will I cast away the seed of Jacob, and David my servant, so that I will not take any of his seed to be rulers over the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: for I will cause their captivity to return, and have mercy on them.
then I would also
reject the descendants of Jacob and of My servant David, so as not to take from his descendants
rulers over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. For I will restore them from captivity and will have
compassion on them.”
I will also break in pieces with thee the
shepherd and his flock; and with thee will I break in pieces the
husbandman and his yoke of oxen; and with thee will I break in pieces captains and
rulers.
Prepare against her the nations with the kings of the Medes, the captains thereof, and all the rulers thereof, and all the land of his dominion.
Prepare the nations for battle against her— the kings of the Medes, their governors and all their officials, and all the lands they rule.
And lest your heart
faint, and ye fear for the rumour that shall be heard in the land; a rumour shall both come one year, and after that in another year shall come a rumour, and violence in the land,
ruler against
ruler.
Do not let your heart grow
faint, and do not be afraid when the
rumor is heard in the land; for a
rumor will come one year— and then another the next year— of violence in the land and of
ruler against
ruler.
And I will make
drunk her princes, and her wise men, her captains, and her
rulers, and her mighty men: and they shall sleep a perpetual sleep, and not
wake, saith the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts.
I will make her princes and wise men
drunk, along with her governors, officials, and warriors. Then they will fall
asleep forever and not
wake up,” declares the King, whose name is the LORD of Hosts.
Servants have
ruled over us: there is none that
doth deliver us out of their hand.
Slaves rule over us; there is no one to deliver us from their hands.
And she had strong rods for the sceptres of them that bare
rule, and her
stature was
exalted among the thick branches, and she appeared in her height with the multitude of her branches.
It had strong branches, fit for a
ruler’s
scepter. It towered high above the thick branches, conspicuous for its height and for its dense foliage.
And fire is gone out of a rod of her branches, which hath
devoured her fruit, so that she hath no strong rod to be a
sceptre to
rule. This is a
lamentation, and shall be for a
lamentation.
Fire has gone out from its main branch and
devoured its fruit; on it no strong branch remains fit for a
ruler’s
scepter.’ This is a
lament and shall be used as a
lament.”
As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with
fury poured out, will I
rule over you:
As surely as I live, declares the Lord GOD, with a strong hand, an outstretched arm, and outpoured wrath I will rule over you.
Which were clothed with blue, captains and
rulers, all of them desirable young men,
horsemen riding upon horses.
clothed in blue, governors and commanders, all desirable young men,
horsemen mounted on steeds.
She
doted upon the Assyrians her neighbours, captains and
rulers clothed most
gorgeously,
horsemen riding upon horses, all of them desirable young men.
She too
lusted after the Assyrians—governors and commanders, warriors dressed in
splendor,
horsemen riding on steeds, all desirable young men.
The Babylonians, and all the Chaldeans, Pekod, and Shoa, and Koa, and all the Assyrians with them: all of them desirable young men, captains and
rulers, great lords and
renowned, all of them riding upon horses.
the Babylonians and all the Chaldeans, the men of Pekod, Shoa, and Koa, and all the Assyrians with them—all desirable young men, governors and commanders, officers and men of
renown, mounted on horses.
Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God:
“Son of man, tell the ruler of Tyre that this is what the Lord GOD says: Your heart is proud, and you have said, ‘I am a god; I sit in the seat of gods in the heart of the sea.’ Yet you are a man and not a god, though you have regarded your heart as that of a god.
It shall be the basest of the kingdoms; neither shall it
exalt itself any more above the nations: for I will diminish them, that they shall no more
rule over the nations.
Egypt will be the lowliest of kingdoms and will never again
exalt itself above the nations. For I will diminish Egypt so that it will never again
rule over the nations.
I have therefore delivered him into the hand of the mighty one of the heathen; he shall surely deal with him: I have driven him out for his wickedness.
I delivered it into the hand of the ruler of the nations, for him to deal with it according to its wickedness. I have banished it.
The diseased have ye not strengthened, neither have ye
healed that which was sick, neither have ye bound up that which was broken, neither have ye brought again that which was driven away, neither have ye sought that which was lost; but with force and with cruelty have ye
ruled them.
You have not strengthened the weak,
healed the sick, bound up the injured, brought back the strays, or searched for the lost. Instead, you have
ruled them with violence and cruelty.
And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all:
I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel, and one king will rule over all of them. Then they will no longer be two nations and will never again be divided into two kingdoms.
The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said, There is not a man upon the earth that can
shew the king’s matter: therefore there is no king, lord, nor
ruler, that asked such things at any
magician, or
astrologer, or
Chaldean.
The astrologers answered the king, “No one on earth can do what the king requests! No king, however great and powerful, has ever asked anything like this of any
magician,
enchanter, or
astrologer.
And
wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee
ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold.
Wherever the sons of men or beasts of the field or birds of the air dwell, He has given them into your hand and has made you ruler over them all. You are that head of gold.
And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth.
But after you, there will arise another kingdom, inferior to yours. Next, a third kingdom, one of bronze, will rule the whole earth.
Then the king made Daniel a great man, and gave him many great gifts, and made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon, and chief of the governors over all the wise men of Babylon.
Then the king promoted Daniel and gave him many generous gifts. He made him
ruler over the entire province of Babylon and chief
administrator over all the wise men of Babylon.
Then
Nebuchadnezzar the king sent to gather together the princes, the governors, and the captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the
rulers of the provinces, to come to the
dedication of the image which
Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.
Then King
Nebuchadnezzar sent word to
assemble the satraps, prefects, governors, advisers, treasurers, judges, magistrates, and all the other officials of the provinces to attend the
dedication of the statue he had set up.
Then the princes, the governors, and captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the
rulers of the provinces, were gathered together unto the
dedication of the image that
Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up; and they stood before the image that
Nebuchadnezzar had set up.
So the satraps, prefects, governors, advisers, treasurers, judges, magistrates, and all the
rulers of the provinces assembled for the
dedication of the statue that King
Nebuchadnezzar had set up, and they stood before it.
This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High
ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to
whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.
This decision is the decree of the watchers, the
verdict declared by the holy ones, so that the living will know that the Most High
rules over the kingdom of mankind and gives it to whom He wishes, setting over it the lowliest of men.’
That they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and they shall wet thee with the
dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over thee, till thou know that the most High
ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to
whomsoever he will.
You will be driven away from mankind, and your dwelling will be with the beasts of the field. You will feed on grass like an ox and be
drenched with the
dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass you by, until you acknowledge that the Most High
rules over the kingdom of mankind and gives it to whom He wishes.
And whereas they commanded to leave the
stump of the tree roots; thy kingdom shall be sure unto thee, after that thou shalt have known that the heavens do
rule.
As for the command to leave the
stump of the tree with its roots, your kingdom will be restored to you as soon as you acknowledge that Heaven
rules.
And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most High
ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to
whomsoever he will.
You will be driven away from mankind to live with the beasts of the field, and you will feed on grass like an ox. And seven times will pass you by, until you acknowledge that the Most High rules over the kingdom of mankind and gives it to whom He wishes.”
The king
cried aloud to bring in the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. And the king spake, and said to the wise men of Babylon,
Whosoever shall read this writing, and
shew me the interpretation thereof, shall be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and shall be the third
ruler in the kingdom.
The king called out for the enchanters, astrologers, and diviners to be brought in, and he said to these wise men of Babylon, “
Whoever reads this inscription and tells me its interpretation will be clothed in purple and have a gold chain placed around his neck, and he will be made the third highest
ruler in the kingdom.”
And I have heard of thee, that thou canst make interpretations, and
dissolve doubts: now if thou canst read the writing, and make known to me the interpretation thereof, thou shalt be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about thy neck, and shalt be the third
ruler in the kingdom.
But I have heard about you, that you are able to give interpretations and
solve difficult problems. Therefore, if you can read this inscription and give me its interpretation, you will be clothed in purple and have a gold chain placed around your neck, and you will be made the third highest
ruler in the kingdom.”
And he was driven from the sons of men; and his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild
asses: they fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the
dew of heaven; till he knew that the most high God
ruled in the kingdom of men, and that he appointeth over it
whomsoever he will.
He was driven away from mankind, and his mind was like that of a beast. He lived with the wild
donkeys and
ate grass like an ox, and his body was
drenched with the
dew of heaven until he acknowledged that the Most High God
rules over the kingdom of mankind, setting over it whom He wishes.
Then commanded
Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with scarlet, and put a chain of gold about his neck, and made a
proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third
ruler in the kingdom.
Then
Belshazzar gave the command, and they clothed Daniel in purple, placed a gold chain around his neck, and proclaimed him the third highest
ruler in the kingdom.
It pleased
Darius to set over the kingdom an hundred and twenty princes, which should be over the whole kingdom;
Now it pleased
Darius to
appoint 120 satraps to
rule throughout the kingdom,
After this I
beheld, and lo another, like a
leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it.
Next, as I watched, another beast appeared. It was like a
leopard, and on its back it had four wings like those of a bird. The beast also had four heads, and it was given authority to
rule.
And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an
everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.
Then the sovereignty, dominion, and greatness of the kingdoms under all of heaven will be given to the people, the saints of the Most High. His kingdom will be an
everlasting kingdom, and all
rulers will serve and obey Him.’
In the first year of
Darius the son of
Ahasuerus, of the seed of the Medes, which was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans;
In the first year of
Darius son of
Xerxes, a
Mede by descent, who was made
ruler over the kingdom of the Chaldeans—
And he hath confirmed his words, which he spake against us, and against our judges that judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil: for under the whole heaven hath not been done as hath been done upon Jerusalem.
You have carried out the words spoken against us and against our
rulers by bringing upon us a great
disaster. For under all of heaven, nothing has ever been done like what has been done to Jerusalem.
And a mighty king shall stand up, that shall rule with great dominion, and do according to his will.
Then a mighty king will arise, who will rule with great authority and do as he pleases.
And when he shall stand up, his kingdom shall be broken, and shall be divided toward the four winds of heaven; and not to his
posterity, nor according to his dominion which he
ruled: for his kingdom shall be
plucked up, even for others beside those.
But as soon as he is established, his kingdom will be broken up and
parceled out toward the four winds of heaven. It will not go to his descendants, nor will it have the authority with which he
ruled, because his kingdom will be uprooted and given to others.
And the king of the south shall be strong, and one of his princes; and he shall be strong above him, and have dominion; his dominion shall be a great dominion.
The king of the South will grow strong, but one of his commanders will grow even stronger and will rule his own kingdom with great authority.
Thus shall he do in the most strong holds with a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge and increase with glory: and he shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land for gain.
He will attack the strongest fortresses with the help of a foreign god and will greatly honor those who acknowledge him, making them rulers over many and distributing the land for a price.
Their drink is
sour: they have committed
whoredom continually: her
rulers with shame do love, Give ye.
They are all hot as an
oven, and have
devoured their judges; all their kings are fallen: there is none among them that calleth unto me.
All of them are hot as an
oven, and they
devour their
rulers. All their kings fall; not one of them calls upon Me.
He shall not return into the land of Egypt, but the Assyrian shall be his king, because they refused to return.
Will they not return to the land of Egypt and be
ruled by Assyria because they refused to
repent?
Ephraim compasseth me about with lies, and the house of Israel with
deceit: but Judah yet
ruleth with God, and is faithful with the saints.
Ephraim surrounds Me with lies, the house of Israel with
deceit; but Judah still walks with God and is faithful to the Holy One.
I will be thy king: where is any other that may save thee in all thy cities? and thy judges of whom thou saidst, Give me a king and princes?
Where is your king now to save you in all your cities, and the rulers to whom you said, “Give me a king and princes”?
Let the priests, the ministers of the LORD,
weep between the
porch and the altar, and let them say,
Spare thy people, O LORD, and give not thine
heritage to reproach, that the heathen should
rule over them: wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God?
Let the priests who minister before the LORD
weep between the
portico and the altar, saying, “
Spare Your people, O LORD, and do not make Your
heritage a reproach, an object of
scorn among the nations. Why should they say among the peoples, ‘Where is their God?’”
I will break also the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the plain of
Aven, and him that holdeth the
sceptre from the house of
Eden: and the people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir, saith the LORD.
I will break down the gates of Damascus; I will cut off the
ruler of the Valley of
Aven and the one who wields the
scepter in Beth-
eden. The people of
Aram will be exiled to Kir,” says the LORD.
And I will cut off the inhabitant from
Ashdod, and him that holdeth the
sceptre from Ashkelon, and I will turn mine hand against
Ekron: and the
remnant of the Philistines shall perish, saith the Lord GOD.
I will cut off the
ruler of
Ashdod and the one who wields the
scepter in Ashkelon. I will turn My hand against
Ekron, and the
remnant of the Philistines will perish,” says the Lord GOD.
And I will cut off the judge from the midst thereof, and will
slay all the princes thereof with him, saith the LORD.
I will cut off the ruler of Moab and kill all the officials with him,” says the LORD.
And saviours shall come up on mount
Zion to judge the mount of
Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD’S.
The deliverers will
ascend Mount
Zion to
rule over the mountains of
Esau. And the kingdom will belong to the LORD.
And I said, Hear, I pray you, O heads of Jacob, and ye princes of the house of Israel; Is it not for you to know judgment?
Then I said: “Hear now, O leaders of Jacob, you rulers of the house of Israel. Should you not know justice?
Hear this, I pray you, ye heads of the house of Jacob, and princes of the house of Israel, that
abhor judgment, and
pervert all
equity.
Now hear this, O leaders of the house of Jacob and
rulers of the house of Israel, who
despise justice and
pervert all that is right,
And I will make her that
halted a
remnant, and her that was cast far off a strong nation: and the LORD shall reign over them in mount
Zion from henceforth, even for ever.
And I will make the
lame into a
remnant, and the outcast into a strong nation. Then the LORD will
rule over them in Mount
Zion from that day and
forever.
But thou,
Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be
ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from
everlasting.
But you,
Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come forth for Me One to be
ruler over Israel— One whose origins are of old, from the days of
eternity.
And they shall waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of
Nimrod in the entrances thereof: thus shall he deliver us from the Assyrian, when he cometh into our land, and when he treadeth within our borders.
And they will
rule the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of
Nimrod with the
blade drawn. So He will deliver us when Assyria invades our land and marches into our borders.
And they shall
scoff at the kings, and the princes shall be a
scorn unto them: they shall
deride every strong hold; for they shall
heap dust, and take it.
They
scoff at kings and make
rulers an object of
scorn. They
laugh at every fortress and build up siege ramps to seize it.
And makest men as the fishes of the sea, as the
creeping things, that have no
ruler over them?
You have made men like the fish of the sea, like
creeping things that have no
ruler.
Even he shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.
Yes, He will build the temple of the LORD; He will be clothed in
splendor and will sit on His throne and
rule. And He will be a priest on His throne, and there will be peaceful counsel between the two.’
Out of him came forth the corner, out of him the
nail, out of him the battle bow, out of him every
oppressor together.
The cornerstone will come from Judah, the tent
peg from him, as well as the battle bow and every
ruler together.
And thou
Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall
rule my people Israel.
‘But you,
Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the
rulers of Judah, for out of you will come a
