After the master of the house gets up and shuts the door, you will stand outside
knocking and
saying, ‘Lord, open the door for us.’ But he will reply, ‘I do not know where you are from.’

say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room.
Then the host who invited both of you will come and tell you, ‘Give this man your seat.’ And in
humiliation, you will have to take the last place.
But when thou art
bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that
bade thee cometh, he may
say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee.
But when you are invited, go and sit in the last place, so that your host will come and tell you, ‘Friend, move up to a better place.’ Then you will be honored in front of
everyone at the table with you.

I
say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one
sinner that repenteth, more than over

sinner who repents than over
ninety-nine righteous ones who do not need to
repent.
And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together,
saying,
Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost.

say unto you, Make to
yourselves friends of the

yourselves, so that when it is gone, they will
welcome you into eternal dwellings.
And if he
trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee,

repent,’ you must
forgive him.”

plowing or feeding cattle, will
say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat?
Which of you whose servant comes in from
plowing or
shepherding in the field will
say to him, ‘Come at once and sit down to eat’?
And will not rather
say unto him, Make ready
wherewith I may
sup, and
gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and
drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink?
Instead, won’t he tell him, ‘Prepare my meal and dress
yourself to serve me while I eat and drink; and afterward you may eat and drink’?
