But neither he, nor his servants, nor the people of the land, did
hearken unto the words of the LORD, which he
spake by the prophet Jeremiah.
But he and his officers and the people of the land refused to obey the words that the LORD had spoken through Jeremiah the prophet.
Ebed-melech went forth out of the king’s house, and spake to the king, saying,
Ebed-melech went out from the king’s palace and said to the king,
Then Johanan the son of Kareah
spake to Gedaliah in
Mizpah secretly, saying, Let me go, I pray thee, and I will
slay Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and no man shall know it: wherefore should he
slay thee, that all the Jews which are gathered unto thee should be scattered, and the
remnant in Judah perish?
Then Johanan son of Kareah spoke privately to Gedaliah at
Mizpah. “Let me go and kill
Ishmael son of Nethaniah,” he said. “No one will know it. Why should he take your life and
scatter all the people of Judah who have gathered to you, so that the
remnant of Judah would perish?”
Then
spake Azariah the son of Hoshaiah, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the proud men, saying unto Jeremiah, Thou speakest falsely: the LORD our God hath not sent thee to say, Go not into Egypt to
sojourn there:
Azariah son of Hoshaiah, Johanan son of Kareah, and all the
arrogant men said to Jeremiah, “You are lying! The LORD our God has not sent you to say, ‘You must not go to Egypt to reside there.’
The word that Jeremiah the prophet
spake unto
Baruch the son of Neriah, when he had written these words in a book at the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of
Jehoiakim the son of
Josiah king of Judah, saying,
This is the word that Jeremiah the prophet spoke to
Baruch son of Neriah when he wrote these words on a
scroll at the
dictation of Jeremiah in the fourth year of
Jehoiakim son of
Josiah, king of Judah:
The word that the LORD
spake to Jeremiah the prophet, how Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon should come and
smite the land of Egypt.
This is the word that the LORD spoke to Jeremiah the prophet about the coming of
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to strike the land of Egypt:
For was not Israel a
derision unto thee? was he found among
thieves? for since thou
spakest of him, thou skippedst for joy.
Was not Israel your object of
ridicule? Was he ever found among
thieves? For whenever you speak of him you
shake your head.
The word that the LORD spake against Babylon and against the land of the Chaldeans by Jeremiah the prophet.
This is the word that the LORD spoke through Jeremiah the prophet concerning Babylon and the land of the Chaldeans:
Put
yourselves in
array against Babylon round about: all ye that bend the bow, shoot at her,
spare no arrows: for she hath
sinned against the LORD.
Line up in formation around Babylon, all you who draw the bow! Shoot at her!
Spare no arrows! For she has
sinned against the LORD.
Against him that bendeth let the archer bend his bow, and against him that lifteth himself up in his
brigandine: and
spare ye not her young men; destroy ye utterly all her host.
Do not let the archer bend his bow or put on his
armor. Do not
spare her young men;
devote all her army to destruction!
Set up the standard upon the walls of Babylon, make the watch strong, set up the
watchmen, prepare the ambushes: for the LORD hath both devised and done that which he
spake against the inhabitants of Babylon.
Raise a
banner against the walls of Babylon; post the guard; station the
watchmen; prepare the
ambush. For the LORD has both devised and accomplished what He spoke against the people of Babylon.
And spake kindly unto him, and set his throne above the throne of the kings that were with him in Babylon,
And he spoke kindly to
Jehoiachin and set his throne above the thrones of the other kings who were with him in Babylon.
Behold, O LORD, and consider to whom thou hast done this. Shall the women eat their fruit, and children of a span long? shall the priest and the prophet be slain in the sanctuary of the Lord?
Look, O LORD, and consider: Whom have You ever treated like this? Should women eat their offspring, the infants they have
nurtured? Should priests and prophets be killed in the sanctuary of the Lord?
And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a
calf’s foot: and they
sparkled like the colour of
burnished brass.
Their legs were straight, and the soles of their feet were like the
hooves of a
calf,
gleaming like polished bronze.
As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake.
The appearance of the brilliant light all around Him was like that of a
rainbow in a cloud on a
rainy day. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell facedown and heard a voice speaking.
And the spirit entered into me when he spake unto me, and set me upon my feet, that I heard him that spake unto me.
And as He spoke to me, the Spirit entered me and set me on my feet, and I heard Him speaking to me.
Then the spirit entered into me, and set me upon my feet, and
spake with me, and said unto me, Go, shut
thyself within thine house.
Then the Spirit entered me and set me on my feet. He spoke with me and said, “Go, shut
yourself inside your house.
Wherefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD; Surely, because thou hast
defiled my sanctuary with all thy
detestable things, and with all thine abominations, therefore will I also diminish thee; neither shall mine eye
spare, neither will I have any
pity.
Therefore as surely as I live, declares the Lord GOD, because you have
defiled My sanctuary with all your
detestable idols and abominations, I Myself will withdraw My favor; I will not look upon you with
pity, nor will I
spare you.
And mine eye shall not
spare thee, neither will I have
pity: but I will
recompense thy ways upon thee, and thine abominations shall be in the midst of thee: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
I will not look on you with
pity, nor will I
spare you, but I will
punish you for your ways and for the abominations among you. Then you will know that I am the LORD.’
And mine eye shall not
spare, neither will I have
pity: I will
recompense thee according to thy ways and thine abominations that are in the midst of thee; and ye shall know that I am the LORD that smiteth.
I will not look on you with
pity, nor will I
spare you, but I will
punish you for your ways and for the abominations among you. Then you will know that it is I, the LORD, who strikes the blow.
Therefore will I also deal in
fury: mine eye shall not
spare, neither will I have
pity: and though they cry in mine ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them.
Therefore I will
respond with wrath. I will not look on them with
pity, nor will I
spare them. Although they
shout loudly in My ears, I will not
listen to them.”
And to the others he said in mine hearing, Go ye after him through the city, and
smite: let not your eye
spare, neither have ye
pity:
And as I
listened, He said to the others, “Follow him through the city and start killing; do not show
pity or
spare anyone!
And as for me also, mine eye shall not
spare, neither will I have
pity, but I will
recompense their way upon their head.
But as for Me, I will not look on them with
pity, nor will I
spare them. I will bring their deeds down upon their own heads.”
And he
spake unto the man clothed with linen, and said, Go in between the wheels, even under the
cherub, and fill thine hand with coals of fire from between the cherubims, and
scatter them over the city. And he went in in my sight.
And the LORD said to the man clothed in linen, “Go inside the
wheelwork beneath the
cherubim. Fill your hands with burning coals from among the
cherubim and
scatter them over the city.” And as I watched, he went in.
Then I spake unto them of the captivity all the things that the LORD had shewed me.
I told the exiles everything the LORD had shown me.
But I will leave a few men of them from the sword, from the famine, and from the
pestilence; that they may declare all their abominations among the heathen
whither they come; and they shall know that I am the LORD.
But I will
spare a few of them from sword and famine and plague, so that in the nations to which they go, they can recount all their abominations. Then they will know that I am the LORD.”
And will ye
pollute me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, to
slay the souls that should not die, and to save the souls alive that should not live, by your lying to my people that hear your lies?
You have
profaned Me among My people for handfuls of barley and scraps of bread. By lying to My people who would
listen, you have killed those who should not have died and
spared those who should not have lived.
Nevertheless mine eye
spared them from destroying them, neither did I make an end of them in the wilderness.
Yet I looked on them with
pity and did not destroy them or bring them to an end in the wilderness.
I the LORD have spoken it: it shall come to pass, and I will do it; I will not go back, neither will I
spare, neither will I
repent; according to thy ways, and according to thy doings, shall they judge thee, saith the Lord GOD.
I, the LORD, have spoken; the time is coming, and I will act. I will not
refrain or show
pity, nor will I relent. I will judge you according to your ways and deeds,’ declares the Lord GOD.”
So I spake unto the people in the morning: and at even my wife died; and I did in the morning as I was commanded.
So I spoke to the people in the morning, and in the evening my wife died. And the next morning I did as I had been commanded.
The
space also before the little chambers was one
cubit on this side, and the
space was one
cubit on that side: and the little chambers were six cubits on this side, and six cubits on that side.
In front of each gate chamber was a wall one
cubit high, and the gate chambers were six cubits square.
To that above the door, even unto the inner house, and without, and by all the wall round about within and without, by measure.
In the space above the outside of the entrance to the inner sanctuary on all the walls, spaced evenly around the inner and outer sanctuary,
From the ground unto above the door were cherubims and palm trees made, and on the wall of the temple.
Cherubim and palm trees were carved on the wall of the outer sanctuary from the floor to the
space above the entrance.
Now the upper chambers were shorter: for the
galleries were higher than these, than the lower, and than the
middlemost of the building.
Now the upper chambers were smaller because the
galleries took more
space from the chambers on the lower and middle floors of the building.
And these are the measures of the altar after the cubits: The
cubit is a
cubit and an hand breadth; even the bottom shall be a
cubit, and the breadth a
cubit, and the border thereof by the edge thereof round about shall be a
span: and this shall be the higher place of the altar.
These are the measurements of the altar in long cubits (a
cubit and a
handbreadth): Its
gutter shall be a
cubit deep and a
cubit wide, with a
rim of one
span around its edge. And this is the height of the altar:
And from the bottom upon the ground even to the lower settle shall be two cubits, and the breadth one
cubit; and from the lesser settle even to the greater settle shall be four cubits, and the breadth one
cubit.
The
space from the
gutter on the ground to the lower
ledge shall be two cubits, and the
ledge one
cubit wide. The
space from the smaller
ledge to the larger
ledge shall be four cubits, and the
ledge one
cubit wide.
And the king spake unto Ashpenaz the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring certain of the children of Israel, and of the king’s seed, and of the princes;
Then the king ordered Ashpenaz, the chief of his court officials, to bring in some Israelites from the royal family and the nobility—
Then
spake the Chaldeans to the king in Syriack, O king, live for ever: tell thy servants the dream, and we will
shew the interpretation.
Then the astrologers answered the king in
Aramaic, “O king, may you live
forever! Tell your servants the dream, and we will give the interpretation.”
They
spake and said to the king
Nebuchadnezzar, O king, live for ever.
Nebuchadnezzar spake and said unto them, Is it true, O
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abed-nego, do not ye serve my gods, nor worship the golden image which I have set up?
and
Nebuchadnezzar said to them, “
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abednego, is it true that you do not serve my gods or worship the golden statue I have set up?
Then was
Nebuchadnezzar full of
fury, and the form of his
visage was changed against
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abed-nego: therefore he
spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was
wont to be heated.
At this,
Nebuchadnezzar was filled with
rage, and the expression on his face changed toward
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abednego. He gave orders to heat the furnace seven times hotter than usual,
Then
Nebuchadnezzar the king was
astonied, and rose up in
haste, and
spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king.
Suddenly King
Nebuchadnezzar jumped up in
amazement and asked his advisers, “Did we not throw three men, firmly bound, into the fire?” “Certainly, O king,” they replied.
Then
Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning
fiery furnace, and
spake, and said,
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abed-nego, ye servants of the most high God, come forth, and come
hither. Then
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abed-nego, came forth of the midst of the fire.
Then
Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abed-nego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.
Nebuchadnezzar declared, “Blessed be the God of
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abednego, who has sent His angel and delivered His servants who trusted in Him. They
violated the king’s command and risked their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God.
Then Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, was
astonied for one hour, and his thoughts troubled him. The king
spake, and said, Belteshazzar, let not the dream, or the interpretation thereof, trouble thee. Belteshazzar answered and said, My lord, the dream be to them that
hate thee, and the interpretation thereof to thine enemies.
For a time, Daniel, who was also known as Belteshazzar, was
perplexed, and his thoughts
alarmed him. So the king said, “Belteshazzar, do not let the dream or its interpretation
alarm you.” “My lord,” replied Belteshazzar, “may the dream apply to those who
hate you, and its interpretation to your enemies!
The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty?
the king
exclaimed, “Is this not Babylon the Great, which I myself have built by the might of my power as a royal residence and for the glory of my majesty?”
The king
cried aloud to bring in the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. And the king
spake, and said to the wise men of Babylon,
Whosoever shall read this writing, and
shew me the interpretation thereof, shall be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.
The king called out for the enchanters, astrologers, and diviners to be brought in, and he said to these wise men of Babylon, “
Whoever reads this inscription and tells me its interpretation will be clothed in purple and have a gold chain placed around his neck, and he will be made the third highest ruler in the kingdom.”
Now the queen, by reason of the words of the king and his lords, came into the
banquet house: and the queen
spake and said, O king, live for ever: let not thy thoughts trouble thee, nor let thy countenance be changed:
Hearing the outcry of the king and his nobles, the queen entered the
banquet hall. “O king, may you live
forever!” she said. “Do not let your thoughts
terrify you, or your face grow pale.
Then was Daniel brought in before the king. And the king
spake and said unto Daniel, Art thou that Daniel, which art of the children of the captivity of Judah, whom the king my father brought out of
Jewry?
So Daniel was brought before the king, who asked him, “Are you Daniel, one of the exiles my father the king brought from Judah?
Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king’s decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask a petition of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.
So they approached the king and asked about his royal decree: “Did you not sign a decree that for thirty days any man who petitions any god or man except you, O king, will be thrown into the den of lions?” The king replied, “According to the law of the Medes and Persians the order stands, and it cannot be
repealed.”
Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee.
So the king gave the order, and they brought Daniel and threw him into the den of lions. The king said to Daniel, “May your God, whom you serve continually, deliver you!”
And when he came to the den, he
cried with a
lamentable voice unto Daniel: and the king
spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions?
When he reached the den, he
cried out in a voice of
anguish, “O Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lions?”
Daniel
spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven
strove upon the great sea.
Daniel declared: “In my vision in the night I looked, and suddenly the four winds of heaven were
churning up the great sea.
I
beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn
spake: I
beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame.
Then I kept watching because of the
arrogant words the horn was speaking. As I continued to watch, the beast was slain, and its body was destroyed and thrown into the
blazing fire.
And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that
spake very great things, whose look was more
stout than his fellows.
I also wanted to know about the ten horns on its head and the other horn that came up, before which three of them fell—the horn whose appearance was more imposing than the others, with eyes and with a mouth that spoke words of
arrogance.
Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which
spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the
transgression of
desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be
trodden under foot?
Then I heard a holy one speaking, and another holy one said to him, “How long until the
fulfillment of the vision of the daily sacrifice, the rebellion that causes
desolation, and the surrender of the sanctuary and of the host to be
trampled?”
Neither have we
hearkened unto thy servants the prophets, which
spake in thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.
We have not
listened to Your servants the prophets, who spoke in Your name to our kings, leaders, and fathers, and to all the people of the land.
And he hath confirmed his words, which he spake against us, and against our judges that judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil: for under the whole heaven hath not been done as hath been done upon Jerusalem.
You have carried out the words spoken against us and against our rulers by bringing upon us a great
disaster. For under all of heaven, nothing has ever been done like what has been done to Jerusalem.
And, behold, one like the
similitude of the sons of men touched my lips: then I opened my mouth, and
spake, and said unto him that stood before me, O my lord, by the vision my sorrows are turned upon me, and I have retained no strength.
And suddenly one with the likeness of a man touched my lips, and I opened my mouth and said to the one standing before me, “My lord, because of the vision, I am overcome with
anguish, and I have no strength.
Yea, he had power over the angel, and prevailed: he
wept, and made
supplication unto him: he found him in
Bethel, and there he
spake with us;
Yes, he struggled with the angel and prevailed; he
wept and sought His favor; he found Him at
Bethel and spoke with Him there—
Let the priests, the ministers of the LORD,
weep between the
porch and the altar, and let them say,
Spare thy people, O LORD, and give not thine
heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God?
Let the priests who minister before the LORD
weep between the
portico and the altar, saying, “
Spare Your people, O LORD, and do not make Your
heritage a reproach, an object of
scorn among the nations. Why should they say among the peoples, ‘Where is their God?’”
Then will the LORD be
jealous for his land, and
pity his people.
Then the LORD became
jealous for His land, and He
spared His people.
And the LORD said unto me,
Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A plumbline. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumbline in the midst of my people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more:
“
Amos, what do you see?” asked the LORD. “A
plumb line,” I replied. “Behold,” said the Lord, “I am setting a
plumb line among My people Israel; I will no longer
spare them:
And he said,
Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A
basket of summer fruit. Then said the LORD unto me, The end is come upon my people of Israel; I will not again pass by them any more.
“
Amos, what do you see?” He asked. “A
basket of summer fruit,” I replied. So the LORD said to me, “The end has come for My people Israel; I will no longer
spare them.”
And the LORD
spake unto the fish, and it
vomited out
Jonah upon the dry land.
And should not I
spare Nineveh, that great city, wherein are more than
sixscore thousand persons that cannot
discern between their right hand and their left hand; and also much cattle?
So should I not care about the great city of
Nineveh, which has more than 120,000 people who cannot tell their right hand from their left, and many cattle as well?”
Shall they therefore empty their net, and not
spare continually to
slay the nations?
Will he, therefore, empty his net and continue to
slay nations without mercy?
Then
spake Haggai the LORD’S
messenger in the LORD’S message unto the people, saying, I am with you, saith the LORD.
Haggai, the
messenger of the LORD, delivered the message of the LORD to the people: “I am with you,” declares the LORD.
Then said I, What come these to do? And he
spake, saying, These are the horns which have scattered Judah, so that no man did lift up his head: but these are come to
fray them, to cast out the horns of the Gentiles, which lifted up their horn over the land of Judah to
scatter it.
“What are these coming to do?” I asked. And He replied, “These are the horns that scattered Judah so that no one could raise his head; but the
craftsmen have come to
terrify them and throw down these horns of the nations that have lifted up their horns against the land of Judah to
scatter it.”
And he answered and
spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the
filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will
clothe thee with change of
raiment.
So the angel said to those standing before him, “Take off his
filthy clothes!” Then he said to Joshua, “See, I have removed your iniquity, and I will
clothe you with splendid robes.”
So I answered and spake to the angel that talked with me, saying, What are these, my lord?
“What are these, my lord?” I asked the angel who was speaking with me.
Then he answered and
spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto
Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.
So he said to me, “This is the word of the LORD to
Zerubbabel: Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the LORD of Hosts.
Then
cried he upon me, and
spake unto me, saying, Behold, these that go toward the north country have quieted my spirit in the north country.
Then the LORD summoned me and said, “Behold, those going to the land of the north have given rest to My Spirit in the land of the north.”
And the LORD their God shall save them in that day as the flock of his people: for they shall be as the stones of a crown, lifted up as an
ensign upon his land.
On that day the LORD their God will save them as the flock of His people; for like jewels in a crown they will
sparkle over His land.
Then they that feared the LORD
spake often one to another: and the LORD
hearkened, and heard it, and a book of
remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.
At that time those who feared the LORD spoke with one another, and the LORD
listened and heard them. So a
scroll of
remembrance was written before Him regarding those who feared the LORD and honored His name.
And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will
spare them, as a man
spareth his own son that serveth him.
“They will be Mine,” says the LORD of Hosts, “on the day when I prepare My
treasured possession. And I will
spare them as a man
spares his own son who serves him.
While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live.
While Jesus was saying these things, a
synagogue leader came and
knelt before Him. “My daughter has just died,” he said. “But come and place Your hand on her, and she will live.”
And when the devil was cast out, the
dumb spake: and the multitudes
marvelled, saying, It was never so seen in Israel.
And when the
demon had been driven out, the man began to speak. The crowds were
amazed and said, “Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel!”
Are not two
sparrows sold for a
farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.
Are not two
sparrows sold for a
penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father.
Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.
So do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and
dumb: and he
healed him,
insomuch that the blind and
dumb both
spake and saw.
Then a
demon-possessed man who was blind and
mute was brought to Jesus, and He
healed the man so that he could speak and see.
And he
spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a
sower went forth to
sow;
And He told them many things in parables, saying, “A farmer went out to
sow his seed.
Another parable
spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto
leaven, which a woman took, and
hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was
leavened.
He told them still another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like
leaven that a woman took and mixed into three measures of flour, until all of it was
leavened.”
All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them:
Jesus spoke all these things to the crowds in parables. He did not tell them anything without using a parable.
But
straightway Jesus
spake unto them, saying, Be of good
cheer; it is I; be not afraid.
But Jesus spoke up at once: “Take courage! It is I. Do not be afraid.”
How is it that ye do not understand that I
spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should
beware of the
leaven of the
Pharisees and of the
Sadducees?
While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
While Peter was still speaking, a bright cloud
enveloped them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Listen to Him!”
Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.
Then the disciples understood that He was speaking to them about John the Baptist.
And when the chief priests and
Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he
spake of them.
When the chief priests and
Pharisees heard His parables, they knew that Jesus was speaking about them.
And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by parables, and said,
Once again, Jesus spoke to them in parables:
Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples,
Then Jesus spoke to the crowds and to His disciples:
And while he yet
spake, lo,
Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and
staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people.
While Jesus was still speaking,
Judas, one of the Twelve, arrived, accompanied by a large crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests and elders of the people.
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.
And he
spake to his disciples, that a small ship should wait on him because of the multitude, lest they should
throng him.
Jesus asked His disciples to have a boat ready for Him so that the crowd would not
crush Him.
And with many such parables spake he the word unto them, as they were able to hear it.
With many such parables Jesus spoke the word to them, to the extent that they could understand.
But without a parable
spake he not unto them: and when they were alone, he
expounded all things to his disciples.
He did not tell them anything without using a parable. But privately He explained everything to His own disciples.
While he yet
spake, there came from the ruler of the
synagogue’s house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?
While He was still speaking, messengers from the house of Jairus arrived and said, “Your daughter is dead; why bother the Teacher anymore?”
And
straightway his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he
spake plain.
Immediately the man’s ears were opened and his tongue was released, and he began to speak plainly.
And he
spake that saying openly. And Peter took him, and began to
rebuke him.
He spoke this message quite
frankly, and Peter took Him aside and began to
rebuke Him.
