When men
strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draweth near for to deliver her husband out of the hand of him that smiteth him, and putteth forth her hand, and taketh him by the secrets:
If two men are fighting, and the wife of one
steps in to
rescue her husband from the one striking him, and she reaches out her hand and grabs his
genitals,
He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.
He guards the steps of His faithful ones, but the wicked perish in darkness; for by his own strength shall no man prevail.
And David
sware moreover, and said, Thy father certainly knoweth that I have found grace in thine eyes; and he saith, Let not
Jonathan know this, lest he be
grieved: but truly as the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, there is but a
step between me and death.
But David again
vowed, “Your father knows very well that I have found favor in your eyes, and he has said, ‘
Jonathan must not know of this, or he will be
grieved.’ As surely as the LORD lives and as you
yourself live, there is but a
step between me and death.”

And Isaiah had replied, “This will be a sign to you from the LORD that He will do what He has promised: Would you like the shadow to go forward ten steps, or back ten steps?”
And
Hezekiah answered, It is a light thing for the shadow to go down ten degrees:
nay, but let the shadow return backward ten degrees.
“It is easy for the shadow to
lengthen ten
steps,” answered
Hezekiah, “but not for it to go back ten
steps.”
And Isaiah the prophet
cried unto the LORD: and he brought the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had gone down in the
dial of
Ahaz.
So Isaiah the prophet called out to the LORD, and He brought the shadow back the ten
steps it had descended on the
stairway of
Ahaz.

ascent to the wall and passed above the house of David to the Water Gate on the east.
For now thou numberest my
steps:
dost thou not watch over my sin?
For then You would count my
steps, but would not keep
track of my sin.
The
steps of his strength shall be
straitened, and his own counsel shall cast him down.
Terrors shall make him afraid on every side, and shall drive him to his feet.
My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined.
My feet have followed in His tracks; I have kept His way without turning aside.
When I washed my steps with butter, and the rock poured me out rivers of oil;
when my
steps were bathed in
cream and the rock poured out for me streams of oil!
Doth not he see my ways, and count all my
steps?
Does He not see my ways and count my every step?
If my
step hath turned out of the way, and mine heart walked after mine eyes, and if any
blot hath
cleaved to mine hands;
If my
steps have turned from the path, if my heart has followed my eyes, or if impurity has
stuck to my hands,
I would declare unto him the number of my steps; as a prince would I go near unto him.
I would give account of all my steps; I would approach Him like a prince.)—
For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he
seeth all his goings.
For His eyes are on the ways of a man, and He sees his every step.
Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.
My
steps have held to Your paths; my feet have not
slipped.
They have now compassed us in our steps: they have set their eyes bowing down to the earth;
They have
tracked us down, and now
surround us; their eyes are set to cast us to the ground,
Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not slip.
You
broaden the path beneath me so that my ankles do not give way.
The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.
The steps of a man are ordered by the LORD who takes delight in his journey.
The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.
The law of his God is in his heart; his
steps do not
falter.
Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from thy way;
Our hearts have not turned back; our
steps have not
strayed from Your path.
They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, when they wait for my soul.
They
conspire, they
lurk, they watch my
steps while they wait to take my life.
They have prepared a net for my
steps; my soul is bowed down: they have
digged a pit before me, into the midst
whereof they are fallen themselves.
Selah.
They spread a net for my feet; my soul was
despondent. They
dug a pit before me, but they themselves have fallen into it!
Selah But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my
steps had well
nigh slipped.
Lift up thy feet unto the perpetual desolations; even all that the enemy hath done wickedly in the sanctuary.
Turn Your
steps to the
everlasting ruins, to everything in the sanctuary the enemy has destroyed.
Righteousness shall go before him; and shall set us in the way of his steps.
Righteousness will go before Him to prepare the way for His steps.
I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy
testimonies.
I considered my ways and turned my
steps to Your
testimonies.
Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.
Order my steps in Your word; let no sin rule over me.
When thou goest, thy
steps shall not be
straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not
stumble.
When you walk, your
steps will not be
impeded; when you run, you will not
stumble.
Her feet go down to death; her
steps take hold on
hell.
Her feet go down to death; her
steps lead straight to
Sheol.
The simple believeth every word: but the
prudent man looketh well to his going.
The simple man believes every word, but the
prudent man watches his
steps.
A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.
A man’s heart plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.
Man’s goings are of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?
A man’s
steps are from the LORD, so how can
anyone understand his own way?
Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil.
Guard your
steps when you go to the house of God. Draw near to
listen rather than to offer the sacrifice of fools, who do not know that they do wrong.
The foot shall
tread it down, even the feet of the poor, and the
steps of the
needy.

dial of
Ahaz, ten degrees backward. So the sun returned ten degrees, by which degrees it was gone down.

stairway of
Ahaz go back ten
steps.’” So the
sunlight went back the ten
steps it had descended.
O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.
I know, O LORD, that a man’s way is not his own; no one who walks directs his own steps.
They
hunt our
steps, that we cannot go in our streets: our end is near, our days are fulfilled; for our end is come.
They
stalked our every
step, so that we could not walk in our streets. Our end drew near, our time ran out, for our end had come!
Then came he unto the gate which looketh toward the east, and went up the stairs thereof, and measured the
threshold of the gate, which was one reed broad; and the other
threshold of the gate, which was one reed broad.
Then he came to the gate facing east and
climbed its
steps. He measured the
threshold of the gate to be one rod deep.
And their windows, and their arches, and their palm trees, were after the measure of the gate that looketh toward the east; and they went up unto it by seven steps; and the arches thereof were before them.
Its windows,
portico, and palm trees had the same measurements as those of the gate facing east. Seven
steps led up to it, with its
portico opposite them.
And there were seven steps to go up to it, and the arches thereof were before them: and it had palm trees, one on this side, and another on that side, upon the posts thereof.

steps led up to it, and its
portico was opposite them; it had palm trees on its side pillars, one on each side.

portico faced the outer court, and its side pillars were decorated with palm trees. Eight
steps led up to it.

The length of the
porch was twenty cubits, and the breadth eleven cubits; and he brought me by the
steps whereby they went up to it: and there were pillars by the posts, one on this side, and another on that side.
The
portico was twenty cubits wide and twelve cubits deep, and ten
steps led up to it. There were columns by the side pillars, one on each side.
And the settle shall be fourteen cubits long and fourteen broad in the four squares thereof; and the border about it shall be half a
cubit; and the bottom thereof shall be a
cubit about; and his stairs shall look toward the east.
The
ledge shall also be square, fourteen cubits long and fourteen cubits wide, with a
rim of half a
cubit and a
gutter of a
cubit all around it. The
steps of the altar shall face east.”
But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps.
He will gain control of the treasures of gold and silver and over all the riches of Egypt, and the Libyans and Cushites will also submit to him.

compassion toward them, and he
healed their sick.
And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus, and took him.
“Friend,” Jesus replied, “do what you came for.” Then the men
stepped forward, seized Jesus, and arrested Him.
And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with
compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a
shepherd: and he began to teach them many things.
When Jesus
stepped ashore and saw a large crowd, He had
compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a
shepherd. And He began to teach them many things.
And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the tombs.

For an angel went down at a certain season into the
pool, and troubled the water:
whosoever then first after the troubling of the water
stepped in was made whole of
whatsoever disease he had.
The
impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the
pool: but while I am coming, another
steppeth down before me.
“Sir,” the
invalid replied, “I have no one to help me into the
pool when the water is
stirred. While I am on my way, someone else goes in before me.”
Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye?

wrapped up his body, and carried him out and buried him.
And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose
Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and
Timon, and Parmenas, and
Nicolas a
proselyte of Antioch:
This proposal pleased the whole group. They chose
Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, as well as Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor,
Timon, Parmenas, and
Nicolas from Antioch, a convert to
Judaism.
And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.
Now Stephen, who was full of grace and power, was performing great wonders and signs among the people.
Then there arose certain of the
synagogue, which is called the
synagogue of the
Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of
Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with
Stephen.
But resistance arose from what was called the
Synagogue of the
Freedmen, including Cyrenians, Alexandrians, and men from the provinces of
Cilicia and Asia. They began to
argue with
Stephen,
Then they
suborned men, which said, We have heard him speak
blasphemous words against Moses, and against God.
Then they
prompted some men to say, “We heard
Stephen speak words of
blasphemy against Moses and against God.”
And they
stirred up the people, and the elders, and the
scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council,
And all that sat in the council, looking
stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.
All who were sitting in the
Sanhedrin looked intently at
Stephen, and they saw that his face was like the face of an angel.
Then said the high priest, Are these things so?
Then the high priest asked Stephen, “Are these charges true?”
And he said, Men, brethren, and fathers,
hearken; The God of glory appeared unto our father Abraham, when he was in
Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charran,
And
Stephen declared: “Brothers and fathers,
listen to me! The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham while he was still in
Mesopotamia, before he lived in
Haran,
But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up
stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,
But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked intently into heaven and saw the glory of God and Jesus standing at the right hand of God.
And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.
While they were stoning him, Stephen appealed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.”
And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles.
And Saul was there, giving
approval to
Stephen’s death. On that day a great persecution broke out against the church in Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered throughout
Judea and Samaria.
God-fearing men buried
Stephen and
mourned deeply over him.
Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about
Stephen travelled as far as Phenice, and
Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the Jews only.
Meanwhile those scattered by the persecution that began with
Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia,
Cyprus, and Antioch, speaking the message only to Jews.
And when he came upon the stairs, so it was, that he was borne of the soldiers for the violence of the people.
When Paul reached the
steps, he had to be carried by the soldiers because of the violence of the
mob.
And when he had given him licence, Paul stood on the stairs, and
beckoned with the hand unto the people. And when there was made a great silence, he spake unto them in the Hebrew tongue, saying,
Having received permission, Paul stood on the
steps and motioned to the crowd. A great
hush came over the crowd, and he addressed them in Hebrew:
And when the blood of thy
martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by, and consenting unto his death, and kept the
raiment of them that
slew him.
And when the blood of Your witness
Stephen was shed, I stood there giving my
approval and watching over the garments of those who killed him.’
Then
straightway they departed from him which should have examined him: and the chief captain also was afraid, after he knew that he was a Roman, and because he had bound him.
Then those who were about to
interrogate Paul
stepped back, and the commander himself was
alarmed when he realized that he had put a Roman citizen in chains.
And he is also the father of the
circumcised who not only are
circumcised, but who also walk in the footsteps of the faith that our father Abraham had before he was
circumcised.
And I
baptized also the household of
Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I
baptized any other.
I
beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of
Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of
Achaia, and that they have
addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints,)
You know that
Stephanas and his household were the first converts in
Achaia, and they have devoted themselves to the service of the saints. Now I
urge you, brothers,
I am
glad of the coming of
Stephanas and
Fortunatus and Achaicus: for that which was lacking on your part they have supplied.
I am
glad that
Stephanas,
Fortunatus, and Achaicus have arrived, because they have supplied what was lacking from you.
I desired
Titus, and with him I sent a brother. Did
Titus make a gain of you? walked we not in the same spirit? walked we not in the same
steps?
I urged
Titus to visit you, and I sent our brother with him. Did
Titus exploit you in any way? Did we not walk in the same Spirit and follow in the same footsteps?
If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
Since we live by the Spirit, let us walk in step with the Spirit.
For even
hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his
steps:
For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in His footsteps:
And if thou seest a man of understanding, get thee
betimes unto him, and let thy foot wear the
steps of his door.
The fear of the Lord is the first step to be accepted of him, and wisdom obtaineth his love.
