And the LORD said, I have surely seen the
affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;
The LORD said, “I have indeed seen the
affliction of My people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their oppressors, and I am aware of their
sufferings.
And he shall cause the woman to drink the bitter water that causeth the
curse: and the water that causeth the
curse shall enter into her, and become bitter.
He is to have the woman drink the bitter water that brings a
curse, and it will enter her and cause her bitter
suffering.
And when he hath made her to drink the water, then it shall come to pass, that, if she be
defiled, and have done
trespass against her husband, that the water that causeth the
curse shall enter into her, and become bitter, and her
belly shall swell, and her
thigh shall
rot: and the woman shall be a
curse among her people.
When he has made her drink the water, if she has
defiled herself and been unfaithful to her husband, then the water that brings a
curse will enter her and cause bitter
suffering; her
belly will swell, her
thigh will
shrivel, and she will become
accursed among her people.
So they sat down with him upon the ground seven days and seven nights, and none spake a word unto him: for they saw that his grief was very great.

I am afraid of all my sorrows, I know that thou
wilt not hold me innocent.
I would still
dread all my
sufferings; I know that You will not
acquit me.
The LORD is righteous; for I have rebelled against his commandment: hear, I pray you, all people, and behold my sorrow: my virgins and my young men are gone into captivity.
The LORD is righteous, for I have rebelled against His command.
Listen, all you people; look upon my
suffering. My young men and maidens have gone into captivity.
How do the beasts
groan! the herds of cattle are
perplexed, because they have no pasture;
yea, the flocks of sheep are made
desolate.
How the cattle
groan! The herds
wander in confusion because they have no pasture. Even the flocks of sheep are
suffering.
And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with
divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the
palsy; and he
healed them.
News about Him spread all over Syria, and people brought to Him all who were ill with various diseases, those
suffering acute pain, the
demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the
paralyzed—and He
healed them.
Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and
sore vexed: for
ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and
oft into the water.
“Lord, have mercy on my son,” he said. “He has seizures and is
suffering terribly. He often falls into the fire or into the water.
And he arose out of the
synagogue, and entered into Simon’s house. And Simon’s wife’s mother was taken with a great fever; and they
besought him for her.
After Jesus had left the
synagogue, He went to the home of Simon, whose mother-in-law was
suffering from a high fever. So they appealed to Jesus on her behalf,
And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this
passover with you before I suffer:
And He said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this
Passover with you before My
suffering.
To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:
After His
suffering, He presented Himself to them with many
convincing proofs that He was alive. He appeared to them over a span of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.

rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.

Sanhedrin,
rejoicing that they had been counted worthy of
suffering disgrace for the Name.

suffering swept across Egypt and
Canaan, and our fathers could not find food.
And when we had sailed slowly many days, and
scarce were come over against Cnidus, the wind not
suffering us, we sailed under
Crete, over against Salmone;
After sailing slowly for many days, we arrived off Cnidus. When the wind
impeded us, we sailed to the
lee of
Crete, opposite Salmone.
And it came to pass, that the father of
Publius lay sick of a fever and of a
bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and
healed him.
The father of
Publius was sick in bed,
suffering from fever and
dysentery. Paul went in to see him, and after praying and placing his hands on him, he
healed the man.
Not only that, but we also
rejoice in our
sufferings, because we know that
suffering produces
perseverance;
For I
reckon that the
sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
I consider that our present sufferings are not comparable to the glory that will be revealed in us.
For as the
sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our
consolation also aboundeth by Christ.
For just as the sufferings of Christ overflow to us, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.
If we are
afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which accomplishes in you patient
endurance of the same
sufferings we experience.
And our hope of you is
stedfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the
sufferings, so shall ye be also of the
consolation.
And our hope for you is sure, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you will share in our comfort.
Wherefore I desire that ye
faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory.
So I ask you not to be discouraged because of my sufferings for you, which are your glory.
That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the
fellowship of his
sufferings, being made
conformable unto his death;
I want to know Christ and the power of His resurrection and the
fellowship of His
sufferings, being
conformed to Him in His death,
Who now
rejoice in my
sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body’s sake, which is the church:
Now I
rejoice in my
sufferings for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is lacking in regard to Christ’s afflictions for the sake of His body, which is the church.
And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much
affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost:
And you became imitators of us and of the Lord when you
welcomed the message with the joy of the Holy Spirit, in spite of your great
suffering.
As you are aware, we had already
endured suffering and shameful treatment in
Philippi. But in the face of strong opposition, we were bold in our God to speak to you the gospel of God.
Which is a manifest
token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:
All this is clear evidence of God’s righteous judgment. And so you will be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering.
Be not thou therefore
ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou
partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
So do not be
ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, or of me, His prisoner. Instead, join me in
suffering for the gospel by the power of God.
Thou therefore
endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
Join me in suffering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.
Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at
Iconium, at
Lystra; what persecutions I
endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me.
my persecutions, and the
sufferings that came upon me in Antioch,
Iconium, and
Lystra. What persecutions I
endured! Yet the Lord
rescued me from all of them.
But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, now crowned with glory and honor because He suffered death, so that by the grace of God He might taste death for
everyone.
For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.
In bringing many sons to glory, it was fitting for God, for whom and through whom all things exist, to make the author of their salvation perfect through suffering.
Remember the early days that you were in the light. In those days, you
endured a great conflict in the face of
suffering.
If ye
endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
Endure suffering as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father?
Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer
adversity, as being
yourselves also in the body.
Remember those in prison as if you were bound with them, and those who are mistreated as if you were suffering with them.
Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of
suffering affliction, and of
patience.
Brothers, as an example of
patience in
affliction, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.
Is any among you
afflicted? let him pray. Is any
merry? let him sing psalms.
Is any one of you
suffering? He should pray. Is
anyone cheerful? He should sing praises.
Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did
signify, when it
testified beforehand the
sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
trying to determine the time and setting to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when He
predicted the
sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow.
For if
anyone endures the pain of unjust
suffering because he is conscious of God, this is to be
commended.
But
rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s
sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be
glad also with exceeding joy.
But
rejoice that you share in the
sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed at the revelation of His glory.
The elders which are among you I
exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the
sufferings of Christ, and also a
partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:
As a fellow elder, a witness of Christ’s
sufferings, and a
partaker of the glory to be revealed, I appeal to the elders among you:
Whom resist
stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
Resist him, standing firm in your faith and in the knowledge that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kinds of suffering.
Even as
Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to
fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example,
suffering the
vengeance of eternal fire.
In like manner,
Sodom and
Gomorrah and the cities around them, who
indulged in sexual immorality and pursued strange flesh, are on display as an example of those who
sustain the punishment of eternal fire.
And the most High shall appear upon the seat of judgment, and misery shall pass away, and the long suffering shall have an end:
To the end that they, desiring food, might for the
ugly sight of the beasts sent among them
lothe even that, which they must needs desire; but these,
suffering penury for a short space, might be made partakers of a strange taste.
