Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
O LORD, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.
O LORD, You pulled me up from
Sheol; You
spared me from descending into
the Pit.
Sing to the LORD, O you His saints, and praise His holy name.
For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life:
weeping may
endure for a night, but joy cometh in
the morning.
For His anger is fleeting, but His favor lasts a lifetime.
Weeping may stay
the night, but joy comes in
the morning.
To You, O LORD, I called, and I
begged my Lord for mercy:
What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth?
“What gain is
there in my
bloodshed, in my descent to
the Pit? Will
the dust praise You? Will it
proclaim Your faithfulness?
To
the end that my glory may sing praise to
thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give
thanks unto
thee for ever.
that my heart may sing Your praises and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give
thanks forever.
In
thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be
ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness.
In You, O LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame; save me by Your righteousness.
Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for an house of defence to save me.
For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name’s sake lead me, and guide me.
For You are my rock and my fortress; lead me and guide me for the sake of Your name.
Pull me out of
the net that
they have laid
privily for me: for thou art my strength.
You free me from the net laid out for me, for You are my refuge.
I have
hated them that regard lying
vanities: but I trust in
the LORD.
I
hate those who
cling to worthless idols, but in
the LORD I trust.
I will be
glad and
rejoice in thy mercy: for thou hast considered my trouble; thou hast known my soul in
adversities;
And hast not shut me up into the hand of the enemy: thou hast set my feet in a large room.
You have not delivered me to the enemy; You have set my feet in the open.
I was a reproach among all mine enemies, but especially among my neighbours, and a fear to mine acquaintance: they that did see me without fled from me.
Among all my enemies I am a disgrace, and among my neighbors even more. I am
dreaded by my friends—
they flee when
they see me on
the street.
For I have heard
the slander of many: fear was on every side: while
they took counsel together against me,
they devised to take away my life.
For I hear
the slander of many;
there is terror on every side.
They conspire against me and plot to take my life.
But I trusted in thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my God.
But I trust in You, O LORD; I say, “You are my God.”
My times are in thy hand: deliver me from
the hand of mine enemies, and from
them that
persecute me.
My times are in Your hands; deliver me from my enemies and from those who pursue me.
Let me not be
ashamed, O LORD; for I have called upon
thee: let
the wicked be
ashamed, and let
them be silent in
the grave.
O LORD, let me not be
ashamed, for I have called on You. Let
the wicked be put to shame; let
them lie silent in
Sheol.
Let
the lying lips be put to silence; which speak
grievous things proudly and
contemptuously against
the righteous.
May lying lips be silenced— lips that speak with
arrogance against
the righteous, full of pride and contempt.
Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!
How great is Your goodness which You have laid up for those who fear You, which You have bestowed before the sons of men on those who take refuge in You!
Thou shalt hide
them in
the secret of thy presence from
the pride of man: thou shalt keep
them secretly in a
pavilion from
the strife of tongues.
You hide
them in
the secret place of Your presence from
the schemes of men. You
conceal them in Your shelter from
accusing tongues.
Blessed be the LORD: for he hath shewed me his marvellous kindness in a strong city.
Blessed be the LORD, for He has shown me His loving devotion in a city under siege.
For I said in my
haste, I am cut off from before thine eyes: nevertheless thou heardest
the voice of my supplications when I
cried unto
thee.
In my
alarm I said, “I am cut off from Your sight!” But You heard my
plea for mercy when I called to You for help.
O love
the LORD, all ye his saints: for
the LORD preserveth
the faithful, and
plentifully rewardeth
the proud
doer.
Love
the LORD, all His saints.
The LORD preserves
the faithful, but fully repays
the arrogant.
Be of good courage, and he shall
strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in
the LORD.
Be strong and
courageous, all you who hope in
the LORD.
Blessed is
the man unto whom
the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit
there is no
guile.
Blessed is
the man whose iniquity
the LORD does not count against him, in whose spirit
there is no
deceit.
When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my
roaring all
the day long.
When I kept silent, my bones became brittle from my
groaning all day long.
For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into
the drought of summer.
Selah.
For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was drained as in
the summer heat.
Selah I acknowledged my sin unto
thee, and mine iniquity have I not
hid. I said, I will
confess my transgressions unto
the LORD; and thou forgavest
the iniquity of my sin.
Selah.
Then I acknowledged my sin to You and did not hide my iniquity. I said, “I will
confess my transgressions to
the LORD,” and You
forgave the guilt of my sin.
Selah For this shall every one that is godly pray unto
thee in a time when thou mayest be found: surely in
the floods of great waters
they shall not come
nigh unto him.
Therefore let all the godly pray to You while You may be found. Surely when great waters rise, they will not come near.
I will
instruct thee and teach
thee in
the way which thou shalt go: I will guide
thee with mine eye.
I will
instruct you and teach you
the way you should go; I will give you counsel and watch over you.
Be ye not as
the horse, or as
the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with
bit and
bridle, lest
they come near unto
thee.
Do not be like
the horse or
mule, which have no understanding;
they must be
controlled with
bit and
bridle to make
them come to you.
Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the LORD, mercy shall compass him about.
Many are the sorrows of the wicked, but loving devotion surrounds him who trusts in the LORD.
Be
glad in
the LORD, and
rejoice, ye righteous: and
shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.
Be
glad in
the LORD and
rejoice, O righteous ones;
shout for joy, all you upright in heart.
Rejoice in
the LORD, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for
the upright.
Rejoice in
the LORD, O righteous ones; it is fitting for
the upright to praise Him.
Praise
the LORD with
harp: sing unto him with
the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings.
Praise
the LORD with
the harp; make music to Him with ten strings.
For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth.
For
the word of
the LORD is upright, and all His work is
trustworthy.
He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the LORD.
The LORD loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of His loving devotion.
By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.
By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, and all the stars by the breath of His mouth.
He gathereth
the waters of
the sea together as an
heap: he layeth up
the depth in storehouses.
He piles up the waters of the sea; He puts the depths into storehouses.
Let all
the earth fear
the LORD: let all
the inhabitants of
the world stand in
awe of him.
Let all
the earth fear
the LORD; let all
the people of
the world
revere Him.
The LORD bringeth
the counsel of
the heathen to
nought: he maketh
the devices of
the people of none effect.
The LORD frustrates the plans of the nations; He thwarts the devices of the peoples.
The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.
The counsel of
the LORD stands
forever,
the purposes of His heart to all generations.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD: and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people He has chosen as His inheritance!
The LORD looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men.
The LORD looks down from heaven; He sees all the sons of men.
From
the place of his
habitation he looketh upon all
the inhabitants of
the earth.
From His dwelling place He gazes on all who inhabit the earth.
He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works.
He shapes the hearts of each; He considers all their works.
There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.
No king is saved by his vast army; no
warrior is delivered by his great strength.
Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;
Surely the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear Him, on those whose hope is in His loving devotion
To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.
to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine.
Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our shield.
Our soul waits for the LORD; He is our help and our shield.
Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.
May Your loving devotion rest on us, O LORD, as we put our hope in You.
I will
bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
I will
bless the LORD at all times; His praise will always be on my lips.
My soul shall make her
boast in
the LORD:
the humble shall hear
thereof, and be
glad.
O
magnify the LORD with me, and let us
exalt his name together.
I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.
I sought the LORD, and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears.
Those who look to Him are
radiant with joy;
their faces shall never be
ashamed.
This poor man
cried, and
the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.
This poor man called out, and the LORD heard him; He saved him from all his troubles.
The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.
The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him, and he delivers them.
O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!
O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.
Fear the LORD, you His saints, for those who fear Him lack nothing.
The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.
Young lions go lacking and
hungry, but those who seek
the LORD lack no good thing.
Come, ye children,
hearken unto me: I will teach you
the fear of
the LORD.
Come, children,
listen to me; I will teach you
the fear of
the LORD.
What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good?
Who is the man who delights in life, who desires to see good days?
The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.
The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and His ears are inclined to their cry.
The face of
the LORD is against
them that do evil, to cut off
the remembrance of
them from
the earth.
But
the face of
the LORD is against those who do evil, to
wipe out all memory of
them from
the earth.
The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.
The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears; He delivers them from all their troubles.
The LORD is
nigh unto
them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a
contrite spirit.
The LORD is near to
the brokenhearted; He saves
the contrite in spirit.
Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.
Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him from them all.

He protects all his bones; not one of them will be broken.
Evil will
slay the wicked, and
the haters of
the righteous will be condemned.
The LORD redeemeth
the soul of his servants: and none of
them that trust in him shall be
desolate.
The LORD redeems His servants, and none who take refuge in Him will be condemned.
Plead my cause, O LORD, with
them that
strive with me: fight against
them that fight against me.
Contend with my opponents, O LORD; fight against those who fight against me.
Draw out also
the spear, and stop
the way against
them that
persecute me: say unto my soul, I am thy salvation.
Draw
the spear and
javelin against my pursuers; say to my soul: “I am your salvation.”
Let
them be confounded and put to shame that seek after my soul: let
them be turned back and brought to confusion that
devise my
hurt.
May those who seek my life be disgraced and put to shame; may those who plan to
harm me be driven back and confounded.
Let
them be as
chaff before
the wind: and let
the angel of
the LORD
chase them.
May
they be like
chaff in
the wind, as
the angel of
the LORD drives
them away.
May
their path be dark and
slick, as
the angel of
the LORD pursues.
For without cause have
they hid for me
their net in a pit, which without cause
they have
digged for my soul.
For without cause
they laid
their net for me; without reason
they dug a pit for my soul.
Let destruction come upon him at unawares; and let his net that he hath
hid catch himself: into that very destruction let him fall.
May ruin
befall them by surprise; may
the net
they hid ensnare them; may
they fall into
the hazard they created.
And my soul shall be joyful in
the LORD: it shall
rejoice in his salvation.
Then my soul will
rejoice in
the LORD and
exult in His salvation.
All my bones shall say, LORD, who is like unto
thee, which deliverest
the poor from him that is too strong for him,
yea,
the poor and
the needy from him that spoileth him?
False witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge things that I knew not.
Hostile witnesses come forward; they make charges I know nothing about.
They rewarded me evil for good to
the spoiling of my soul.
They repay me evil for good, to
the bereavement of my soul.
But as for me, when
they were sick, my clothing was
sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own
bosom.
Yet when
they were ill, I put on
sackcloth; I humbled myself with fasting, but my prayers returned unanswered.
But in mine
adversity they rejoiced, and gathered
themselves together:
yea,
the abjects gathered
themselves together against me, and I knew it not;
they did
tear me, and ceased not:
But when I
stumbled,
they assembled in
glee;
they gathered together against me. Assailants I did not know
slandered me without ceasing.
Like godless jesters at a feast,
they gnashed their teeth at me.
Lord, how long
wilt thou look on?
rescue my soul from
their destructions, my
darling from
the lions.
How long, O Lord, will You look on?
Rescue my soul from
their ravages, my precious life from
these lions.
I will give
thee thanks in
the great congregation: I will praise
thee among much people.
Then I will give You
thanks in
the great assembly; I will praise You among many people.
Let not
them that are mine enemies
wrongfully rejoice over me: neither let
them wink with
the eye that
hate me without a cause.
Let not my enemies
gloat over me without cause, nor those who
hate me without reason
wink in
malice.
For
they speak not peace: but
they devise deceitful matters against
them that are quiet in
the land.
For
they do not speak peace, but
they devise deceitful schemes against those who live quietly in
the land.
Yea,
they opened
their mouth wide against me, and said,
Aha,
aha, our eye hath seen it.
They gape at me and say, “
Aha,
aha! Our eyes have seen!”
Judge me, O LORD my God, according to thy righteousness; and let
them not
rejoice over me.
Vindicate me by Your righteousness, O LORD my God, and do not let
them gloat over me.
Let
them not say in
their hearts,
Ah, so would we have it: let
them not say, We have
swallowed him up.
Let
them not say in
their hearts, “
Aha, just what we wanted!” Let
them not say, “We have
swallowed him up!”
Let
them be
ashamed and brought to confusion together that
rejoice at mine
hurt: let
them be clothed with shame and dishonour that
magnify themselves against me.
May those who
gloat in my distress be
ashamed and confounded; may those who
exalt themselves over me be clothed in shame and reproach.
Let
them shout for joy, and be
glad, that favour my righteous cause:
yea, let
them say continually, Let
the LORD be
magnified, which hath pleasure in
the prosperity of his servant.
And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long.
Then my tongue will
proclaim Your righteousness and Your praises all day long.
The transgression of
the wicked saith within my heart, that
there is no fear of God before his eyes.
An
oracle is in my heart regarding
the transgression of
the wicked man:
There is no fear of God before his eyes.
The words of his mouth are iniquity and
deceit: he hath left off to be wise, and to do good.
The words of his mouth are wicked and
deceitful; he has ceased to be wise and well-doing.
Thy mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds.
Your loving devotion, O LORD, reaches to the heavens, Your faithfulness to the clouds.
Thy righteousness is like the great mountains; thy judgments are a great deep: O LORD, thou preservest man and beast.
Your righteousness is like the highest mountains; Your judgments are like the deepest sea. O LORD, You preserve man and beast.
