Rivers of waters run down mine eyes, because they keep not thy law.
My eyes shed streams of tears because Your law is not obeyed.
Thy
testimonies that thou hast commanded are righteous and very faithful.
The testimonies You have laid down are righteous and altogether faithful.
Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it.
Your promise is completely pure; therefore Your servant loves it.
Thy righteousness is an
everlasting righteousness, and thy law is
the truth.
Your righteousness is
everlasting and Your law is true.
I call to You; save me, that I may keep Your
testimonies.
I prevented
the dawning of
the morning, and
cried: I hoped in thy word.
I rise before
dawn and cry for help; in Your word I have put my hope.
Mine eyes prevent
the night watches, that I might
meditate in thy word.
They draw
nigh that follow after mischief:
they are far from thy law.
Those who follow after wickedness draw near; they are far from Your law.
Concerning thy
testimonies, I have known of old that thou hast founded
them for ever.
Salvation is far from the wicked: for they seek not thy statutes.
Salvation is far from the wicked because they do not seek Your statutes.
I
beheld the transgressors, and was
grieved; because
they kept not thy word.
I look on
the faithless with
loathing because
they do not keep Your word.
Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.
Seven times a day do I praise thee because of thy righteous judgments.
Seven times a day I praise You for Your righteous judgments.
Great peace have
they which love thy law: and nothing shall
offend them.
Abundant peace belongs to those who love Your law; nothing can make
them stumble.
My soul hath kept thy
testimonies; and I love
them exceedingly.
I have kept thy precepts and thy
testimonies: for all my ways are before
thee.
I obey Your precepts and Your
testimonies, for all my ways are before You.
Let my cry come near before thee, O LORD: give me understanding according to thy word.
May my cry come before You, O LORD; give me understanding according to Your word.
Let my
supplication come before
thee: deliver me according to thy word.
May my
plea come before You;
rescue me according to Your promise.
Let my soul live, and it shall praise thee; and let thy judgments help me.
Let me live to praise You; may Your judgments
sustain me.
In my distress I
cried unto
the LORD, and he heard me.
In my distress I
cried to
the LORD, and He answered me.
What shall be given unto thee? or what shall be done unto thee, thou false tongue?
What will He do to you, and what will be added to you, O
deceitful tongue?
Sharp arrows of
the mighty, with coals of
juniper.
Sharp arrows will come from
the warrior, with burning coals of
the broom tree!
I am for peace: but when I speak, they are for war.
I am in favor of peace; but when I speak, they want war.
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come?
My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth
thee will not
slumber.
Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither
slumber nor sleep.
The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.
The LORD is your keeper; the LORD is the shade on your right hand.
The sun shall not
smite thee by day, nor
the moon by night.
The sun will not strike you by day, nor the moon by night.
The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.
The LORD will guard you from all evil; He will preserve your soul.
The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for
evermore.
The LORD will watch over your coming and going, both now and forevermore.
I was
glad when
they said unto me, Let us go into
the house of
the LORD.
I was
glad when
they said to me, “Let us go to
the house of
the LORD.”
Whither the tribes go up,
the tribes of
the LORD, unto
the testimony of Israel, to give
thanks unto
the name of
the LORD.
where
the tribes go up,
the tribes of
the LORD, as a testimony for Israel, to give
thanks to
the name of
the LORD.
For there are set thrones of judgment, the thrones of the house of David.
For there the thrones of judgment stand, the thrones of the house of David.
Pray for
the peace of Jerusalem:
they shall
prosper that love
thee.
Pray for
the peace of Jerusalem: “May those who love you
prosper.
Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces.
May there be peace within your walls, and prosperity inside your fortresses.”
For my brethren and companions’ sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee.
For the sake of my brothers and friends, I will say, “Peace be within you.”
Because of the house of the LORD our God I will seek thy good.
For the sake of the house of the LORD our God, I will seek your prosperity.
Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens.
I lift up my eyes to You, the One enthroned in heaven.
Behold, as
the eyes of servants look unto
the hand of
their masters, and as
the eyes of a
maiden unto
the hand of her
mistress; so our eyes wait upon
the LORD our God, until that he have mercy upon us.
As
the eyes of servants look to
the hand of
their master, as
the eyes of a
maidservant look to
the hand of her
mistress, so our eyes are on
the LORD our God until He shows us mercy.
Our soul is exceedingly filled with
the scorning of those that are at ease, and with
the contempt of
the proud.
If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, now may Israel say;
If the LORD had not been on our side— let Israel now declare—
If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us:
if the LORD had not been on our side when men attacked us,
when
their anger
flared against us,
then they would have
swallowed us alive,
Then the waters had
overwhelmed us,
the stream had gone over our soul:
Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.
then the raging waters would have swept us away.
Blessed be the LORD, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.
Blessed be the LORD, who has not given us as prey to their teeth.
Our soul is escaped as a bird out of
the snare of
the fowlers:
the snare is broken, and we are escaped.
We have escaped like a bird from
the snare of
the fowler;
the net is
torn, and we have
slipped away.
Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
Our help is in the name of the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.
They that trust in
the LORD shall be as mount
Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.
Those who trust in
the LORD are like Mount
Zion. It cannot be moved; it abides
forever.
As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the LORD is round about his people from henceforth even for ever.
As
the mountains
surround Jerusalem, so
the LORD surrounds His people, both now and forevermore.
For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity.
For
the scepter of
the wicked will not rest upon
the land
allotted to
the righteous, so that
the righteous will not put forth
their hands to injustice.
Do good, O LORD, unto those that be good, and to them that are upright in their hearts.
Do good, O LORD, to those who are good, and to the upright in heart.
As for such as turn aside unto
their crooked ways,
the LORD shall lead
them forth with
the workers of iniquity: but peace shall be upon Israel.
But those who turn to
crooked ways
the LORD will
banish with
the evildoers. Peace be upon Israel.
When
the LORD turned again
the captivity of
Zion, we were like
them that dream.
When
the LORD restored
the captives of
Zion, we were like dreamers.
Then was our mouth filled with
laughter, and our tongue with singing:
then said
they among
the heathen,
The LORD hath done great things for
them.
Then our mouths were filled with
laughter, our tongues with shouts of joy.
Then it was said among
the nations, “
The LORD has done great things for
them.”
The LORD hath done great things for us;
whereof we are
glad.
The LORD has done great things for us; we are filled with joy.
Turn again our captivity, O LORD, as the streams in the south.
Restore our
captives, O LORD, like streams in
the Negev.
They that
sow in tears shall
reap in joy.
Those who
sow in tears will
reap with shouts of joy.
Except
the LORD build
the house,
they labour in vain that build it: except
the LORD keep
the city,
the watchman waketh but in vain.
Unless
the LORD builds
the house, its builders labor in vain; unless
the LORD protects
the city, its
watchmen stand guard in vain.
It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.
In vain you rise early and stay up late,
toiling for bread to eat— for He gives sleep to His beloved.
Lo, children are an
heritage of
the LORD: and
the fruit of
the womb is his reward.
Children are indeed a
heritage from
the LORD, and
the fruit of
the womb is His reward.
As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.
Like arrows in
the hand of a
warrior, so are children born in one’s youth.
Happy is
the man that hath his
quiver full of
them:
they shall not be
ashamed, but
they shall speak with
the enemies in
the gate.
Blessed is
the man whose
quiver is full of
them. He will not be put to shame when he confronts
the enemies at
the gate.
Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD; that walketh in his ways.
Blessed are all who fear the LORD, who walk in His ways!
For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.
For when you eat the fruit of your labor, blessings and prosperity will be yours.
Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table.
Your wife will be like a fruitful vine flourishing within your house, your sons like olive shoots sitting around your table.
Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the LORD.
In this way indeed shall blessing come to the man who fears the LORD.
The LORD shall
bless thee out of
Zion: and thou shalt see
the good of Jerusalem all
the days of thy life.
May
the LORD
bless you from
Zion, that you may see
the prosperity of Jerusalem all
the days of your life,
Many a time have
they afflicted me from my youth, may Israel now say:
Many a time
they have
persecuted me from my youth— let Israel now declare—
Many a time have
they afflicted me from my youth: yet
they have not prevailed against me.
many a time
they have
persecuted me from my youth, but
they have not prevailed against me.
The plowers
plowed upon my back:
they made long
their furrows.
The plowmen
plowed over my back;
they made
their furrows long.
The LORD is righteous: he hath cut
asunder the cords of
the wicked.
The LORD is righteous; He has cut me from the cords of the wicked.
Let
them all be confounded and turned back that
hate Zion.
May all who
hate Zion be turned back in shame.
Let
them be as
the grass upon
the housetops, which withereth
afore it groweth up:
May
they be like grass on
the rooftops, which
withers before it can grow,
unable to fill
the hands of
the reaper, or
the arms of
the binder of
sheaves.
Neither do
they which go by say,
The blessing of
the LORD be upon you: we
bless you in
the name of
the LORD.
May none who pass by say to
them, “
The blessing of
the LORD be on you; we
bless you in
the name of
the LORD.”
Out of
the depths have I
cried unto
thee, O LORD.
Out of the depths I cry to You, O LORD!
Lord, hear my voice: let thine ears be
attentive to
the voice of my supplications.
O Lord, hear my voice; let Your ears be
attentive to my
plea for mercy.
If thou, LORD, shouldest mark
iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?
But
there is
forgiveness with
thee, that thou mayest be feared.
But with You
there is
forgiveness, so that You may be feared.
I wait for
the LORD, my soul
doth wait, and in his word do I hope.
I wait for the LORD; my soul does wait, and in His word I put my hope.
My soul waiteth for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning: I say, more than they that watch for the morning.
My soul waits for
the Lord more than
watchmen wait for
the morning— more than
watchmen wait for
the morning.
Let Israel hope in
the LORD: for with
the LORD
there is mercy, and with him is
plenteous redemption.
O Israel, put your hope in
the LORD, for with
the LORD is loving devotion, and with Him is
redemption in abundance.
Let Israel hope in the LORD from henceforth and for ever.
O Israel, put your hope in the LORD, both now and forevermore.
LORD, remember David, and all his afflictions:
O LORD, remember on behalf of David all
the hardships he
endured,
How he
sware unto
the LORD, and
vowed unto
the mighty God of Jacob;
how he
swore an oath to
the LORD, and
vowed to
the Mighty One of Jacob:
Surely I will not come into the tabernacle of my house, nor go up into my bed;
“I will not enter my house or get into my bed,
Until I find out a place for
the LORD, an
habitation for
the mighty God of Jacob.
until I find a place for the LORD, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.”
Lo, we heard of it at Ephratah: we found it in the fields of the wood.
We heard that the ark was in Ephrathah; we found it in the fields of Jaar.
Arise, O LORD, into thy rest; thou, and the ark of thy strength.
Arise, O LORD, to Your resting place, You and the ark of Your strength.
For thy servant David’s sake turn not away
the face of thine
anointed.
The LORD hath
sworn in truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of
the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.
The LORD
swore an oath to David, a promise He will not
revoke: “One of your descendants I will place on your throne.
If thy children will keep my covenant and my testimony that I shall teach
them,
their children shall also sit upon thy throne for
evermore.
If your sons keep My covenant and
the testimony I will teach
them,
then their sons will also sit on your throne
forever and ever.”
For
the LORD has chosen
Zion; He has desired it for His home:
There will I make
the horn of David to
bud: I have ordained a lamp for mine
anointed.
There I will make a horn grow for David; I have prepared a lamp for My
anointed one.
His enemies will I
clothe with shame: but upon himself shall his crown
flourish.
I will
clothe his enemies with shame, but
the crown upon him will
gleam.”
It is like
the precious
ointment upon
the head, that ran down upon
the beard, even Aaron’s
beard: that went down to
the skirts of his garments;
It is like fine oil on
the head, running down on
the beard, running down Aaron’s
beard over
the collar of his robes.
