flee unto, and it is a little one: Oh, let me escape thither, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live.

flee, and it is a small place. Please let me
flee there—is it not a small place? Then my life will be saved.”
And he said unto him, See, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow this city, for the which thou hast spoken.

demolish the
town you indicate.
Haste thee, escape thither; for I cannot do any thing till thou be come thither. Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.
Hurry! Run there quickly, for I cannot do anything until you reach it.” That is why the

attach them to the bottom of the two shoulder pieces of the
ephod, on its front, near its
seam just above its
woven waistband.

And if ye walk contrary unto me, and will not
hearken unto me; I will bring seven times more plagues upon you according to your sins.
If you walk in hostility toward Me and refuse to obey Me, I will multiply your plagues seven times, according to your sins.
And if ye will not be reformed by me by these things, but will walk contrary unto me;
And if in spite of these things you do not accept My discipline, but continue to walk in hostility toward Me,
Then will I also walk contrary unto you, and will
punish you yet seven times for your sins.
then I will act with hostility
toward you, and I will strike you
sevenfold for your sins.
And if ye will not for all this
hearken unto me, but walk contrary unto me;
But if in spite of all this you do not obey Me, but continue to walk in hostility toward Me,
If they shall
confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, with their
trespass which they
trespassed against me, and that also they have walked contrary unto me;
But if they will
confess their iniquity and that of their fathers in the unfaithfulness that they practiced against Me, by which they have also walked in hostility
toward Me—
And that I also have walked contrary unto them, and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their
uncircumcised hearts be humbled, and they then accept of the punishment of their iniquity:
and I acted with hostility
toward them and brought them into the land of their enemies—and if their
uncircumcised hearts will be humbled and they will make
amends for their iniquity,
And on the east side
toward the rising of the sun shall they of the standard of the camp of Judah pitch throughout their armies: and Nahshon the son of
Amminadab shall be captain of the children of Judah.
On the east side,
toward the
sunrise, the divisions of Judah are to camp under their standard:
But those that
encamp before the tabernacle
toward the east, even before the tabernacle of the congregation eastward, shall be Moses, and Aaron and his sons, keeping the charge of the sanctuary for the charge of the children of Israel; and the stranger that cometh
nigh shall be put to death.

toward the ridge of the hill country. “We have indeed
sinned,” they said, “but we will go to the place the LORD has promised.”

stoke the burning anger of the LORD against Israel.

And when we departed from
Horeb, we went through all that great and terrible wilderness, which ye saw by the way of the mountain of the
Amorites, as the LORD our God commanded us; and we came to Kadesh-barnea.
And just as the LORD our God had commanded us, we set out from
Horeb and went
toward the hill country of the
Amorites, through all the vast and
terrifying wilderness you have seen. When we reached Kadesh-barnea,
All these cities were
fenced with high walls, gates, and bars; beside unwalled
towns a great many.
All these cities were fortified with high walls and gates and bars, and there were many more unwalled villages.
Then Moses severed three cities on this side Jordan

And they possessed his land, and the land of
Og king of
Bashan, two kings of the
Amorites, which were on this side Jordan
toward the
sunrising;
They took possession of the land belonging to Sihon and to
Og king of
Bashan—the two Amorite kings across the Jordan to the east—
Are they not on the other side Jordan, by the way where the sun goeth down, in the land of the
Canaanites, which dwell in the
champaign over against
Gilgal, beside the plains of Moreh?
Are not these mountains across the Jordan, west of the road
toward the
sunset, in the land of the
Canaanites who live in the Arabah opposite
Gilgal near the Oak of Moreh?
Thou mayest not sacrifice the
passover within any of thy gates, which the LORD thy God giveth thee:
You are not to sacrifice the
Passover animal in any of the
towns that the LORD your God is giving you.
Judges and officers shalt thou make thee in all thy gates, which the LORD thy God giveth thee, throughout thy tribes: and they shall judge the people with just judgment.
You are to
appoint judges and officials for your tribes in every
town that the LORD your God is giving you. They are to judge the people with righteous judgment.
If there be found among you, within any of thy gates which the LORD thy God giveth thee, man or woman, that hath wrought wickedness in the sight of the LORD thy God, in
transgressing his covenant,
If a man or woman among you in one of the
towns that the LORD your God gives you is found doing evil in the sight of the LORD your God by
transgressing His covenant
And if a
Levite come from any of thy gates out of all Israel, where he
sojourned, and come with all the desire of his mind unto the place which the LORD shall choose;
Now if a
Levite moves from any
town of residence throughout Israel and comes in all earnestness to the place the LORD will choose,
He shall dwell with thee, even among you, in that place which he shall choose in one of thy gates, where it liketh him best: thou shalt not
oppress him.
Let him live among you wherever he chooses, in the
town of his pleasing. Do not
oppress him.
Thou shalt not
oppress an
hired servant that is poor and
needy, whether he be of thy brethren, or of thy strangers that are in thy land within thy gates:
Do not
oppress a
hired hand who is poor and
needy, whether he is a brother or a foreigner residing in one of your
towns.
So that the man that is tender among you, and very delicate, his eye shall be evil
toward his brother, and
toward the wife of his
bosom, and
toward the
remnant of his children which he shall leave:
The most gentle and refined man among you will
begrudge his brother, the wife he embraces, and the rest of his children who have survived,
The tender and delicate woman among you, which would not
adventure to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil
toward the husband of her
bosom, and
toward her son, and
toward her daughter,
The most gentle and refined woman among you, so gentle and refined she would not
venture to set the sole of her foot on the ground, will
begrudge the husband she embraces and her son and daughter
And
toward her young one that cometh out from between her feet, and
toward her children which she shall bear: for she shall eat them for want of all things secretly in the siege and straitness,
wherewith thine enemy shall distress thee in thy gates.
the
afterbirth that comes from between her legs and the children she bears, because she will secretly eat them for lack of anything else in the siege and distress that your enemy will
inflict on you within your gates.
They have corrupted themselves, their spot is not the spot of his children: they are a
perverse and
crooked generation.
His people have acted corruptly
toward Him; the spot on them is not that of His children, but of a
perverse and
crooked generation.
From the wilderness and this
Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the
Hittites, and unto the great sea
toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast.
Your territory shall extend from the wilderness and
Lebanon to the great River Euphrates—all the land of the
Hittites—and west as far as the Great Sea.
Until the LORD have given your brethren rest, as he hath given you, and they also have possessed the land which the LORD your God giveth them: then ye shall return unto the land of your possession, and enjoy it, which Moses the LORD’S servant gave you on this side Jordan
toward the
sunrising.
until the LORD gives them rest as He has done for you, and your brothers also possess the land that the LORD your God is giving them. Then you may return to the land of your inheritance and take possession of that which Moses the servant of the LORD gave you on the east side of the Jordan.”

That the waters which came down from above stood and rose up upon an
heap very far from the city Adam, that is beside Zaretan: and those that came down
toward the sea of the plain, even the salt sea, failed, and were cut off: and the people passed over right against
Jericho.
the flowing water stood still. It backed up as far
upstream as Adam, a city in the area of Zarethan, while the water flowing
toward the Sea of the Arabah (the Salt Sea) was completely cut off. So the people crossed over opposite
Jericho.

spear that is in thy hand
toward Ai; for I will give it into thine hand. And Joshua stretched out the
spear that he had in his hand
toward the city.

lance toward Ai, for into your hand I will deliver the city.” So Joshua held out his battle
lance toward Ai,
And it came to pass, when all the kings which were on this side Jordan, in the hills, and in the valleys, and in all the coasts of the great sea over against
Lebanon, the Hittite, and the Amorite, the
Canaanite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite, heard thereof;
And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to Debir; and fought against it:

Even from the mount Halak, that goeth up to
Seir, even unto
Baal-
gad in the valley of
Lebanon under mount
Hermon: and all their kings he took, and
smote them, and
slew them.
from Mount Halak, which rises
toward Seir, as far as
Baal-
gad in the Valley of
Lebanon at the foot of Mount
Hermon. He captured all their kings and struck them down, putting them to death.
Now these are the kings of the land, which the children of Israel
smote, and possessed their land on the other side Jordan
toward the rising of the sun, from the river
Arnon unto mount
Hermon, and all the plain on the east:
Now these are the kings of the land whom the Israelites struck down and whose lands they took beyond the Jordan to the east, from the
Arnon Valley to Mount
Hermon, including all the Arabah eastward:
And these are the kings of the country which Joshua and the children of Israel
smote on this side Jordan on the west, from
Baal-
gad in the valley of
Lebanon even unto the mount Halak, that goeth up to
Seir; which Joshua gave unto the tribes of Israel for a possession according to their divisions;
And these are the kings of the land that Joshua and the Israelites conquered beyond the Jordan to the west, from
Baal-
gad in the Valley of
Lebanon to Mount Halak, which rises
toward Seir (according to the allotments to the tribes of Israel, Joshua gave them as an inheritance
