Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see thee, that they shall say, This is his wife: and they will kill me, but they will save thee alive.

Abram, and said, What is this that thou hast done unto me? why
didst thou not tell me that she was thy
wife?
So Pharaoh summoned
Abram and asked, “What have you done to me? Why didn’t you tell me she was your
wife?
Why saidst thou, She is my sister? so I might have taken her to me to wife: now therefore behold thy wife, take her, and go thy way.
Why did you say, ‘She is my sister,’ so that I took her as my wife? Now then, here is your wife. Take her and go!”

Sarah thy
wife shall have a son. And

wife Sarah will have a son!” Now
Sarah was behind him,

wife and your two daughters who are here, or you will be swept away in the punishment of the city.”
And while he
lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his
wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being
merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.
But when Lot
hesitated, the men
grabbed his hand and the hands of his
wife and his two daughters. And they led them safely out of the city, because of the LORD’s
compassion for them.
But his
wife looked back from behind him, and she became a

But God came to
Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man’s
wife.

Abimelech in a dream and told him, “You are as good as dead because of the woman you have taken, for she is a married woman.”
Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live: and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine.
Now return the man’s wife, for he is a prophet; he will pray for you and you will live. But if you do not restore her, be aware that you will surely die—you and all who belong to you.”

wife Sarah to him.

And I will make thee
swear by the LORD, the God of heaven, and the God of the earth, that thou shalt not take a
wife unto my son of the daughters of the
Canaanites, among whom I dwell:
and I will have you
swear by the LORD, the God of heaven and the God of earth, that you will not take a
wife for my son from the daughters of the
Canaanites among whom I am dwelling,
But thou shalt go unto my country, and to my kindred, and take a wife unto my son Isaac.

And my master made me
swear, saying, Thou shalt not take a
wife to my son of the daughters of the
Canaanites, in whose land I dwell:
My master made me
swear an oath and said, ‘You shall not take a
wife for my son from the daughters of the
Canaanites in whose land I dwell,
But thou shalt go unto my father’s house, and to my kindred, and take a wife unto my son.
but you shall go to my father’s house and to my kindred to take a wife for my son.’
And he said unto me, The LORD, before whom I walk, will send his angel with thee, and
prosper thy way; and thou shalt take a
wife for my son of my kindred, and of my father’s house:
And he told me, ‘The LORD, before whom I have walked, will send His angel with you and make your journey a success, so that you may take a wife for my son from my kindred and from my father’s house.

But when the men of that place asked about his

Abimelech said, What is this thou hast done unto us? one of the people might lightly have

Abimelech. “One of the people could easily have
slept with your
wife, and you would have brought guilt upon us.”
And
Abimelech charged all his people, saying, He that toucheth this man or his

Rebekah said to Isaac, “I am
weary of my life because of these Hittite women. If Jacob takes a Hittite

spilled it on the ground, lest that he should give seed to his brother.
