Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
And ye shall
sow the eighth year, and eat yet of old fruit until the ninth year; until her fruits come in ye shall eat of the old store.
While you are
sowing in the eighth year, you
will be eating from the previous harvest, until the ninth year’s harvest comes in.
But if he be not able to restore it to him, then that which is sold shall remain in the hand of him that hath bought it until the year of jubile: and in the jubile it shall go out, and he shall return unto his possession.
But if he cannot obtain enough to repay him, what he sold
will remain in possession of the
buyer until the Year of
Jubilee. In the
Jubilee, however, it is to be released, so that he may return to his property.
And he shall
reckon with him that bought him from the year that he was sold to him unto the year of jubile: and the price of his sale shall be according unto the number of years, according to the time of an
hired servant shall it be with him.
He and his purchaser
will then count the time from the year he sold himself up to the Year of
Jubilee. The price of his sale
will be determined by the number of years, based on the daily wages of a
hired hand.
Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.
I will give you rains in their season, and the land will yield its produce, and the trees of the field will bear their fruit.
And your
threshing shall reach unto the
vintage, and the
vintage shall reach unto the
sowing time: and ye shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land safely.
Your
threshing will continue until the
grape harvest, and the
grape harvest
will continue until
sowing time; you
will have your fill of food to eat and
will dwell securely in your land.
And I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid: and I will rid evil beasts out of the land, neither shall the sword go through your land.
And I will give peace to the land, and you will lie down with nothing to fear. I will rid the land of dangerous animals, and no sword will pass through your land.
And ye shall
chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword.
You will pursue your enemies, and they will fall by the sword before you.
And five of you shall
chase an hundred, and an hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight: and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword.
Five of you will pursue a hundred, and a hundred of you will pursue ten thousand, and your enemies will fall by the sword before you.
For I will have respect unto you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you, and establish my covenant with you.
I will turn toward you and make you fruitful and multiply you, and I will establish My covenant with you.
And ye shall eat old store, and bring forth the old because of the new.
You will still be eating the old supply of grain when you need to clear it out to make room for the new.
And I
will set my tabernacle among you: and my soul shall not
abhor you.
And I
will make My dwelling place among you, and My soul
will not
despise you.
And I will walk among you, and will be your God, and ye shall be my people.
I will walk among you and be your God, and you will be My people.
But if ye
will not
hearken unto me, and
will not do all these commandments;
If, however, you fail to obey Me and to carry out all these commandments,
And if ye shall
despise my statutes, or if your soul
abhor my judgments, so that ye
will not do all my commandments, but that ye break my covenant:
and if you
reject My statutes,
despise My ordinances, and neglect to carry out all My commandments, and so break My covenant,
I also
will do this unto you; I
will even
appoint over you terror, consumption, and the burning
ague, that shall
consume the eyes, and cause sorrow of heart: and ye shall
sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.
then this is what I
will do to you: I
will bring upon you sudden terror, wasting disease, and fever that
will destroy your sight and
drain your life. You
will sow your seed in vain, because your enemies
will eat it.
And I
will set my face against you, and ye shall be slain before your enemies: they that
hate you shall reign over you; and ye shall
flee when none pursueth you.
And I
will set My face against you, so that you
will be defeated by your enemies. Those who
hate you
will rule over you, and you
will flee when no one pursues you.
And if ye
will not yet for all this
hearken unto me, then I
will punish you seven times more for your sins.
And if after all this you
will not obey Me, I
will proceed to
punish you
sevenfold for your sins.
And I will break the pride of your power; and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as brass:
I
will break down your
stubborn pride and make your sky like iron and your land like bronze,
And your strength shall be spent in vain: for your land shall not yield her increase, neither shall the trees of the land yield their fruits.
and your strength will be spent in vain. For your land will not yield its produce, and the trees of the land will not bear their fruit.
And if ye walk contrary unto me, and
will not
hearken unto me; I
will bring seven times more plagues upon you according to your sins.
If you walk in hostility toward Me and refuse to obey Me, I will multiply your plagues seven times, according to your sins.
I
will also send wild beasts among you, which shall
rob you of your children, and destroy your cattle, and make you few in number; and your high ways shall be
desolate.
I
will send wild animals against you to
rob you of your children, destroy your
livestock, and reduce your numbers, until your roads lie
desolate.
And if ye will not be reformed by me by these things, but will walk contrary unto me;
And if in spite of these things you do not accept My discipline, but continue to walk in hostility toward Me,
Then
will I also walk contrary unto you, and
will punish you yet seven times for your sins.
then I
will act with hostility toward you, and I
will strike you
sevenfold for your sins.
And I
will bring a sword upon you, that shall
avenge the quarrel of my covenant: and when ye are gathered together within your cities, I
will send the
pestilence among you; and ye shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy.
And I
will bring a sword against you to
execute the
vengeance of the covenant. Though you withdraw into your cities, I
will send a plague among you, and you
will be delivered into the hand of the enemy.
And when I have broken the staff of your bread, ten women shall
bake your bread in one
oven, and they shall deliver you your bread again by weight: and ye shall eat, and not be satisfied.
When I cut off your supply of bread, ten women
will bake your bread in a single
oven and
dole out your bread by weight, so that you
will eat but not be satisfied.
And if ye
will not for all this
hearken unto me, but walk contrary unto me;
But if in spite of all this you do not obey Me, but continue to walk in hostility toward Me,
Then I
will walk contrary unto you also in
fury; and I, even I,
will chastise you seven times for your sins.
And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat.
You will eat the flesh of your own sons and daughters.
And I
will destroy your high places, and cut down your images, and cast your carcases upon the carcases of your idols, and my soul shall
abhor you.
I
will destroy your high places, cut down your incense altars, and
heap your lifeless bodies on the lifeless remains of your idols; and My soul
will despise you.
And I
will make your cities waste, and bring your
sanctuaries unto
desolation, and I
will not smell the savour of your sweet odours.
I
will reduce your cities to
rubble and lay waste your
sanctuaries, and I
will refuse to smell the pleasing
aroma of your sacrifices.
And I
will bring the land into
desolation: and your enemies which dwell therein shall be
astonished at it.
And I
will lay waste the land, so that your enemies who dwell in it
will be
appalled.
And I
will scatter you among the heathen, and
will draw out a sword after you: and your land shall be
desolate, and your cities waste.
But I
will scatter you among the nations and
will draw out a sword after you as your land becomes
desolate and your cities are laid waste.
Then shall the land enjoy her sabbaths, as long as it lieth
desolate, and ye be in your enemies’ land; even then shall the land rest, and enjoy her sabbaths.
Then the land shall enjoy its Sabbaths all the days it lies
desolate, while you are in the land of your enemies. At that time the land
will rest and enjoy its Sabbaths.
As long as it lieth
desolate it shall rest; because it did not rest in your sabbaths, when ye dwelt upon it.
As long as it lies
desolate, the land
will have the rest it did not receive during the Sabbaths when you lived in it.
And upon them that are left alive of you I
will send a
faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; and the sound of a
shaken leaf shall
chase them; and they shall
flee, as
fleeing from a sword; and they shall fall when none pursueth.
As for those of you who
survive, I
will send a
faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies, so that even the sound of a windblown leaf
will put them to flight. And they
will flee as one flees the sword, and fall when no one pursues them.
And they shall fall one upon another, as it were before a sword, when none pursueth: and ye shall have no power to stand before your enemies.
They
will stumble over one another as before the sword, though no one is behind them. So you
will not be able to stand against your enemies.
And ye shall perish among the heathen, and the land of your enemies shall eat you up.
You
will perish among the nations, and the land of your enemies
will consume you.
And they that are left of you shall pine away in their iniquity in your enemies’ lands; and also in the
iniquities of their fathers shall they pine away with them.
Those of you who
survive in the lands of your enemies
will waste away in their iniquity and
will decay in the sins of their fathers.
If they shall
confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, with their
trespass which they
trespassed against me, and that also they have walked contrary unto me;
But if they
will confess their iniquity and that of their fathers in the unfaithfulness that they practiced against Me, by which they have also walked in hostility toward Me—
And that I also have walked contrary unto them, and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their
uncircumcised hearts be humbled, and they then accept of the punishment of their iniquity:
and I acted with hostility toward them and brought them into the land of their enemies—and if their
uncircumcised hearts
will be humbled and they
will make
amends for their iniquity,
Then will I remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land.
then I will remember My covenant with Jacob and My covenant with Isaac and My covenant with Abraham, and I will remember the land.
The land also shall be left of them, and shall enjoy her sabbaths, while she lieth
desolate without them: and they shall accept of the punishment of their iniquity: because, even because they
despised my judgments, and because their soul
abhorred my statutes.
For the land
will be abandoned by them, and it
will enjoy its Sabbaths by lying
desolate without them. And they
will pay the penalty for their iniquity, because they rejected My ordinances and
abhorred My statutes.
And yet for all that, when they be in the land of their enemies, I
will not cast them away, neither
will I
abhor them, to destroy them utterly, and to break my covenant with them: for I am the LORD their God.
Yet in spite of this, when they are in the land of their enemies, I
will not
reject or
despise them so as to destroy them and break My covenant with them; for I am the LORD their God.
But I will for their sakes remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the heathen, that I might be their God: I am the LORD.
But for their sake I will remember the covenant with their fathers, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations, that I might be their God. I am the LORD.”
He shall not alter it, nor change it, a good for a bad, or a bad for a good: and if he shall at all change beast for beast, then it and the exchange thereof shall be holy.
He must not replace it or exchange it, either good for bad or bad for good. But if he does substitute one animal for another, both that animal and its substitute will be holy.
And the priest shall value it, whether it be good or bad: as thou valuest it, who art the priest, so shall it be.
The priest shall set its value, whether high or low; as the priest values it, the price will be set.
But if he
will at all
redeem it, then he shall add a fifth part thereof unto thy
estimation.
If, however, the owner decides to
redeem the animal, he must add a fifth to its value.
And when a man shall
sanctify his house to be holy unto the LORD, then the priest shall estimate it, whether it be good or bad: as the priest shall estimate it, so shall it stand.
Now if a man consecrates his house as holy to the LORD, then the priest shall value it either as good or bad. The price will stand just as the priest values it.
And if he that
sanctified it
will redeem his house, then he shall add the fifth part of the money of thy
estimation unto it, and it shall be his.
But if he who consecrated his house redeems it, he must add a fifth to the
assessed value, and it
will belong to him.
If he
sanctify his field from the year of jubile, according to thy
estimation it shall stand.
If he consecrates his field during the Year of
Jubilee, the price
will stand according to your
valuation.
But if he
sanctify his field after the jubile, then the priest shall
reckon unto him the money according to the years that remain, even unto the year of the jubile, and it shall be
abated from thy
estimation.
But if he consecrates his field after the
Jubilee, the priest is to
calculate the price in proportion to the years left until the next Year of
Jubilee, so that your
valuation will be reduced.
And if he that
sanctified the field
will in any wise
redeem it, then he shall add the fifth part of the money of thy
estimation unto it, and it shall be
assured to him.
And if the one who consecrated the field decides to
redeem it, he must add a fifth to the
assessed value, and it shall belong to him.
And if he
will not
redeem the field, or if he have sold the field to another man, it shall not be redeemed any more.
If, however, he does not
redeem the field, or if he has sold it to another man, it may no longer be redeemed.
But the field, when it goeth out in the jubile, shall be holy unto the LORD, as a field devoted; the possession thereof shall be the priest’s.
When the field is released in the
Jubilee, it
will become holy, like a field devoted to the LORD; it becomes the property of the priests.
And all thy estimations shall be according to the
shekel of the sanctuary: twenty gerahs shall be the
shekel.
And if a man
will at all
redeem ought of his
tithes, he shall add
thereto the fifth part thereof.
If a man wishes to
redeem part of his
tithe, he must add a fifth to its value.
And concerning the
tithe of the
herd, or of the flock, even of
whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the LORD.
Every tenth animal from the
herd or flock that passes under the
shepherd’s rod
will be holy to the LORD.
But the Levites shall pitch round about the tabernacle of testimony, that there be no wrath upon the congregation of the children of Israel: and the Levites shall keep the charge of the tabernacle of testimony.
But the Levites are to camp around the tabernacle of the Testimony and watch over it, so that no wrath will fall on the congregation of Israel. So the Levites are responsible for the tabernacle of the Testimony.”
And those that do pitch next unto him shall be the tribe of
Issachar: and Nethaneel the son of Zuar shall be captain of the children of
Issachar.
The tribe of
Issachar will camp next to it. The leader of the Issacharites is Nethanel son of Zuar,
Then the tribe of
Zebulun: and Eliab the son of Helon shall be captain of the children of
Zebulun.
Next
will be the tribe of
Zebulun. The leader of the Zebulunites is Eliab son of Helon,
And those which pitch by him shall be the tribe of
Simeon: and the captain of the children of
Simeon shall be Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.
The tribe of
Simeon will camp next to it. The leader of the Simeonites is Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai,
Then the tribe of
Gad: and the captain of the sons of
Gad shall be Eliasaph the son of Reuel.
Next
will be the tribe of
Gad. The leader of the Gadites is Eliasaph son of Deuel,
And by him shall be the tribe of
Manasseh: and the captain of the children of
Manasseh shall be
Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.
The tribe of
Manasseh will be next to it. The leader of the Manassites is
Gamaliel son of Pedahzur,
Then the tribe of Benjamin: and the captain of the sons of Benjamin shall be Abidan the son of Gideoni.
Next will be the tribe of Benjamin. The leader of the Benjamites is Abidan son of Gideoni,
And those that
encamp by him shall be the tribe of Asher: and the captain of the children of Asher shall be Pagiel the son of Ocran.
The tribe of Asher will camp next to it. The leader of the Asherites is Pagiel son of Ocran,
Then the tribe of
Naphtali: and the captain of the children of
Naphtali shall be Ahira the son of Enan.
Next
will be the tribe of
Naphtali. The leader of the Naphtalites is Ahira son of Enan,
And when Aaron and his sons have made an end of covering the sanctuary, and all the vessels of the sanctuary, as the camp is to set forward; after that, the sons of
Kohath shall come to bear it: but they shall not touch any holy thing, lest they die. These things are the burden of the sons of
Kohath in the tabernacle of the congregation.
When Aaron and his sons have finished covering the holy objects and all their
equipment, as soon as the camp is ready to move, the Kohathites shall come and do the carrying. But they must not touch the holy objects, or they
will die. These are the
transportation duties of the Kohathites regarding the Tent of Meeting.
But they shall not go in to see when the holy things are covered, lest they die.
But the Kohathites are not to go in and look at the holy objects, even for a moment, or they will die.”
And the hangings of the court, and the hanging for the door of the gate of the court, which is by the tabernacle and by the altar round about, and their cords, and all the instruments of their service, and all that is made for them: so shall they serve.
the curtains of the
courtyard, and the curtains for the entrance at the gate of the
courtyard that surrounds the tabernacle and altar, along with their ropes and all the
equipment for their service. The Gershonites
will do all that needs to be done with these items.
Both male and female shall ye put out, without the camp shall ye put them; that they
defile not their camps, in the midst
whereof I dwell.
You must send away male and female alike; send them outside the camp so they
will not
defile their camp, where I dwell among them.”
And every man’s
hallowed things shall be his:
whatsoever any man giveth the priest, it shall be his.
Each man’s sacred gifts are his own, but whatever he gives to the priest will belong to the priest.”
And he shall cause the woman to drink the bitter water that causeth the
curse: and the water that causeth the
curse shall enter into her, and become bitter.
He is to have the woman drink the bitter water that brings a
curse, and it
will enter her and cause her bitter suffering.
And when he hath made her to drink the water, then it shall come to pass, that, if she be
defiled, and have done
trespass against her husband, that the water that causeth the
curse shall enter into her, and become bitter, and her
belly shall swell, and her
thigh shall
rot: and the woman shall be a
curse among her people.
When he has made her drink the water, if she has
defiled herself and been unfaithful to her husband, then the water that brings a
curse will enter her and cause bitter suffering; her
belly will swell, her
thigh will shrivel, and she
will become
accursed among her people.
And if the woman be not
defiled, but be clean; then she shall be free, and shall conceive seed.
But if the woman has not
defiled herself and is clean, she
will be unaffected and able to conceive children.
Then shall the man be guiltless from iniquity, and this woman shall bear her iniquity.
The husband will be free from guilt, but the woman shall bear her iniquity.”
And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel; and I
will bless them.
So they shall put My name on the Israelites, and I
will bless them.”
Thus shalt thou separate the Levites from among the children of Israel: and the Levites shall be mine.
In this way you shall separate the Levites from the rest of the Israelites, and the Levites will belong to Me.
And I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and to his sons from among the children of Israel, to do the service of the children of Israel in the tabernacle of the congregation, and to make an
atonement for the children of Israel: that there be no plague among the children of Israel, when the children of Israel come
nigh unto the sanctuary.
And I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and his sons from among the Israelites, to perform the service for the Israelites at the Tent of Meeting and to make
atonement on their behalf, so that no plague
will come against the Israelites when they approach the sanctuary.”
And Moses said unto them, Stand still, and I will hear what the LORD will command concerning you.
“Wait here until I find out what the LORD commands concerning you,” Moses replied.
But the man that is clean, and is not in a journey, and forbeareth to keep the
passover, even the same soul shall be cut off from among his people: because he brought not the offering of the LORD in his appointed season, that man shall bear his sin.
But if a man who is
ceremonially clean and is not on a journey still fails to observe the
Passover, he must be cut off from his people, because he did not present the LORD’s offering at its appointed time. That man
will bear the consequences of his sin.
And if a stranger shall
sojourn among you, and
will keep the
passover unto the LORD; according to the
ordinance of the
passover, and according to the manner thereof, so shall he do: ye shall have one
ordinance, both for the stranger, and for him that was born in the land.
If a foreigner dwelling among you wants to observe the
Passover to the LORD, he is to do so according to the
Passover statute and its ordinances. You are to apply the same statute to both the foreigner and the native of the land.’”
And if ye go to war in your land against the enemy that oppresseth you, then ye shall blow an
alarm with the
trumpets; and ye shall be remembered before the LORD your God, and ye shall be saved from your enemies.
When you enter into battle in your land against an
adversary who attacks you, sound short blasts on the
trumpets, and you
will be remembered before the LORD your God and saved from your enemies.
And Moses said unto Hobab, the son of Raguel the Midianite, Moses’ father in law, We are journeying unto the place of which the LORD said, I will give it you: come thou with us, and we will do thee good: for the LORD hath spoken good concerning Israel.
Then Moses said to Hobab, the son of Moses’ father-in-law Reuel the Midianite, “We are setting out for the place of which the LORD said: ‘I will give it to you.’ Come with us, and we will treat you well, for the LORD has promised good things to Israel.”
And he said unto him, I will not go; but I will depart to mine own land, and to my kindred.
“I will not go,” Hobab replied. “Instead, I am going back to my own land and my own people.”
And it shall be, if thou go with us,
yea, it shall be, that what goodness the LORD shall do unto us, the same
will we do unto thee.
If you come with us, we will share with you whatever good things the LORD gives us.”
And the
mixt multitude that was among them fell a
lusting: and the children of Israel also
wept again, and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat?
Meanwhile, the
rabble among them had a strong
craving for other food, and again the Israelites
wept and said, “Who
will feed us meat?
And I
will come down and talk with thee there: and I
will take of the spirit which is upon thee, and
will put it upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with thee, that thou bear it not
thyself alone.
And I
will come down and speak with you there, and I
will take some of the Spirit that is on you and put that Spirit on them. They
will help you bear the burden of the people, so that you do not have to bear it by
yourself.
And say thou unto the people,
Sanctify yourselves against to
morrow, and ye shall eat flesh: for ye have
wept in the ears of the LORD, saying, Who shall give us flesh to eat? for it was well with us in Egypt: therefore the LORD
will give you flesh, and ye shall eat.
And say to the people:
Consecrate yourselves for
tomorrow, and you
will eat meat, because you have
cried out in the hearing of the LORD, saying: ‘Who
will feed us meat? For we were better off in Egypt!’ Therefore the LORD
will give you meat, and you
will eat.
Ye shall not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, neither ten days, nor twenty days;
You will eat it not for one or two days, nor for five or ten or twenty days,
And Moses said, The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand
footmen; and thou hast said, I
will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month.
But Moses replied, “Here I am among 600,000 men on foot, yet You say, ‘I will give them meat, and they will eat for a month.’
And the LORD said unto Moses, Is the LORD’S hand waxed short? thou shalt see now whether my word shall come to pass unto thee or not.
The LORD answered Moses, “Is the LORD’s arm too short? Now you will see whether or not My word will come to pass.”
And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream.
He said, “Hear now My words: If there is a prophet among you, I, the LORD,
will reveal Myself to him in a vision; I
will speak to him in a dream.
With him
will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the
similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?
I speak with him face to face, clearly and not in
riddles; he sees the form of the LORD. Why then were you unafraid to speak against My servant Moses?”
And wherefore hath the LORD brought us unto this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? were it not better for us to return into Egypt?
Why is the LORD bringing us into this land to fall by the sword? Our wives and children
will become
plunder. Would it not be better for us to go back to Egypt?”
If the LORD delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey.
If the LORD delights in us, He will bring us into this land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and He will give it to us.
Only
rebel not ye against the LORD, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the LORD is with us: fear them not.
Only do not
rebel against the LORD, and do not be afraid of the people of the land, for they
will be like bread for us. Their protection has been removed, and the LORD is with us. Do not be afraid of them!”
And the LORD said unto Moses, How long
will this people
provoke me? and how long
will it be
ere they believe me, for all the signs which I have shewed among them?
And the LORD said to Moses, “How long
will this people treat Me with contempt? How long
will they refuse to believe in Me,
despite all the signs I have performed among them?
I will strike them with a plague and destroy them—and I will make you into a nation greater and mightier than they are.”
And Moses said unto the LORD, Then the Egyptians shall hear it, (for thou broughtest up this people in thy might from among them;)
But Moses said to the LORD, “The Egyptians will hear of it, for by Your strength You brought this people from among them.
And they
will tell it to the inhabitants of this land: for they have heard that thou LORD art among this people, that thou LORD art seen face to face, and that thy cloud standeth over them, and that thou goest before them, by
daytime in a
pillar of a cloud, and in a
pillar of fire by night.
And they
will tell it to the inhabitants of this land. They have already heard that You, O LORD, are in the midst of this people, that You, O LORD, have been seen face to face, that Your cloud stands over them, and that You go before them in a
pillar of cloud by day and a
pillar of fire by night.
