Now if thou shalt kill all this people as one man, then the nations which have heard the fame of thee will speak, saying,
If You kill this people as one man, the nations who have heard of Your fame will say,
The LORD is
longsuffering, and of great mercy,
forgiving iniquity and
transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation.
‘The LORD is slow to anger and abounding in loving devotion,
forgiving iniquity and
transgression. Yet He
will by no means leave the guilty unpunished; He
will visit the iniquity of the fathers upon their children to the third and fourth generation.’
Surely they shall not see the land which I
sware unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that
provoked me see it:
not one
will ever see the land that I
swore to give their fathers. None of those who have treated Me with contempt
will see it.
But my servant
Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him
will I bring into the land
whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.
But because My servant
Caleb has a different spirit and has followed Me wholeheartedly, I
will bring him into the land he has entered, and his descendants
will inherit it.
How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which
murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they
murmur against me.
“How long
will this wicked congregation
grumble against Me? I have heard the complaints that the Israelites are making against Me.
Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the LORD, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you:
So tell them: As surely as I live, declares the LORD, I will do to you exactly as I heard you say.
Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, which have
murmured against me,
Your bodies
will fall in this wilderness—all who were numbered in the census,
everyone twenty years of age or older—because you have grumbled against Me.
Doubtless ye shall not come into the land, concerning which I
sware to make you dwell therein, save
Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of
Nun.
Surely none of you
will enter the land in which I
swore to settle you, except
Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of
Nun.
But your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, them
will I bring in, and they shall know the land which ye have
despised.
But I
will bring your children, whom you said would become
plunder, into the land you have rejected—and they
will enjoy it.
But as for you, your carcases, they shall fall in this wilderness.
As for you, however, your bodies will fall in this wilderness.
And your children shall
wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcases be wasted in the wilderness.
Your children
will be
shepherds in the wilderness for forty years, and they
will suffer for your unfaithfulness until the last of your bodies lies in the wilderness.
After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your
iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise.
In keeping with the forty days you
spied out the land, you shall bear your guilt forty years—a year for each day—and you
will experience My
alienation.
I the LORD have said, I will surely do it unto all this evil congregation, that are gathered together against me: in this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die.
I, the LORD, have spoken, and I
will surely do these things to this entire wicked congregation, which has
conspired against Me. They
will meet their end in the wilderness, and there they
will die.”
And they rose up early in the morning, and
gat them up into the top of the mountain, saying, Lo, we be here, and
will go up unto the place which the LORD hath promised: for we have
sinned.
Early the next morning they got up and went up toward the ridge of the hill country. “We have indeed
sinned,” they said, “but we
will go to the place the LORD has promised.”
And Moses said, Wherefore now do ye
transgress the commandment of the LORD? but it shall not
prosper.
But Moses said, “Why are you
transgressing the commandment of the LORD? This
will not succeed!
For the
Amalekites and the
Canaanites are there before you, and ye shall fall by the sword: because ye are turned away from the LORD, therefore the LORD
will not be with you.
For there the
Amalekites and
Canaanites will face you, and you
will fall by the sword. Because you have turned away from the LORD, He
will not be with you.”
And
will make an offering by fire unto the LORD, a burnt offering, or a sacrifice in performing a
vow, or in a
freewill offering, or in your solemn feasts, to make a sweet savour unto the LORD, of the
herd, or of the flock:
and you present an offering made by fire to the LORD from the
herd or flock to produce a pleasing
aroma to the LORD—either a burnt offering or a sacrifice, for a special
vow or
freewill offering or appointed feast—
And if a stranger
sojourn with you, or
whosoever be among you in your generations, and
will offer an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD; as ye do, so he shall do.
And for the generations to come, if a foreigner residing with you or someone else among you wants to prepare an offering made by fire as a pleasing
aroma to the LORD, he is to do exactly as you do.
One law and one manner shall be for you, and for the stranger that sojourneth with you.
The same law and the same
ordinance will apply both to you and to the foreigner residing with you.”
And it shall be
forgiven all the congregation of the children of Israel, and the stranger that sojourneth among them; seeing all the people were in ignorance.
Then the whole congregation of Israel and the foreigners residing among them
will be
forgiven, since it happened to all the people
unintentionally.
And the priest shall make an
atonement for the soul that sinneth ignorantly, when he sinneth by ignorance before the LORD, to make an
atonement for him; and it shall be
forgiven him.
And it shall be unto you for a
fringe, that ye may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of the LORD, and do them; and that ye seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, after which ye use to go a
whoring:
These
will serve as tassels for you to look at, so that you may remember all the commandments of the LORD, that you may obey them and not
prostitute yourselves by following your own heart and your own eyes.
That ye may remember, and do all my commandments, and be holy unto your God.
Then you will remember and obey all My commandments, and you will be holy to your God.
And he spake unto
Korah and unto all his company, saying, Even to
morrow the LORD
will shew who are his, and who is holy; and
will cause him to come near unto him: even him whom he hath chosen
will he cause to come near unto him.
Then he said to
Korah and all his followers, “
Tomorrow morning the LORD
will reveal who belongs to Him and who is holy, and He
will bring that person near to Himself. The one He chooses, He
will bring near to Himself.
And put fire therein, and put incense in them before the LORD to
morrow: and it shall be that the man whom the LORD
doth choose, he shall be holy: ye take too much upon you, ye sons of Levi.
and
tomorrow you are to place fire and incense in them in the presence of the LORD. Then the man the LORD chooses
will be the one who is holy. It is you sons of Levi who have taken too much upon
yourselves!”
And Moses sent to call Dathan and
Abiram, the sons of Eliab: which said, We
will not come up:
Then Moses summoned Dathan and
Abiram, the sons of Eliab, but they said, “We
will not come!
Moreover thou hast not brought us into a land that floweth with milk and honey, or given us inheritance of fields and vineyards:
wilt thou put out the eyes of these men? we
will not come up.
Moreover, you have not brought us into a land flowing with milk and honey or given us an inheritance of fields and vineyards.
Will you
gouge out the eyes of these men? No, we
will not come!”
And they fell upon their faces, and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and
wilt thou be
wroth with all the congregation?
But Moses and Aaron fell facedown and said, “O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, when one man sins,
will You be
angry with the whole congregation?”
And he spake unto the congregation, saying, Depart, I pray you, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest ye be consumed in all their sins.
And he
warned the congregation, “Move away now from the tents of these wicked men. Do not touch anything that belongs to them, or you
will be swept away because of all their sins.”
And Moses said,
Hereby ye shall know that the LORD hath sent me to do all these works; for I have not done them of mine own mind.
Then Moses said, “This is how you will know that the LORD has sent me to do all these things, for it was not my own doing:
But if the LORD make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and
swallow them up, with all that
appertain unto them, and they go down quick into the pit; then ye shall understand that these men have
provoked the LORD.
But if the LORD brings about something
unprecedented, and the earth opens its mouth and
swallows them and all that belongs to them so that they go down alive into
Sheol, then you
will know that these men have treated the LORD with contempt.”
The censers of these sinners against their own souls, let them make them broad plates for a covering of the altar: for they offered them before the LORD, therefore they are
hallowed: and they shall be a sign unto the children of Israel.
As for the censers of those who
sinned at the cost of their own lives, hammer them into sheets to overlay the altar, for these were presented before the LORD, and so have become holy. They
will serve as a sign to the Israelites.”
And thou shalt lay them up in the tabernacle of the congregation before the testimony, where I will meet with you.
Place the staffs in the Tent of Meeting in front of the Testimony, where I meet with you.
And it shall come to pass, that the man’s rod, whom I shall choose, shall
blossom: and I
will make to cease from me the murmurings of the children of Israel, whereby they
murmur against you.
The staff belonging to the man I choose
will sprout, and I
will rid Myself of the constant
grumbling of the Israelites against you.”
Whosoever cometh any thing near unto the tabernacle of the LORD shall die: shall we be consumed with dying?
Anyone who comes near the tabernacle of the LORD
will die. Are we all going to perish?”
And they shall keep thy charge, and the charge of all the tabernacle: only they shall not come
nigh the vessels of the sanctuary and the altar, that neither they, nor ye also, die.
And they shall attend to your duties and to all the duties of the Tent; but they must not come near to the furnishings of the sanctuary or the altar, or both they and you will die.
This shall be thine of the most holy things, reserved from the fire: every
oblation of theirs, every meat offering of theirs, and every sin offering of theirs, and every
trespass offering of theirs, which they shall render unto me, shall be most holy for thee and for thy sons.
A portion of the most holy offerings reserved from the fire will be yours. From all the offerings they render to Me as most holy offerings, whether grain offerings or sin offerings or guilt offerings, that part belongs to you and your sons.
And
whatsoever is first ripe in the land, which they shall bring unto the LORD, shall be thine; every one that is clean in thine house shall eat of it.
The firstfruits of everything in their land that they bring to the LORD
will belong to you. Every
ceremonially clean person in your household may eat them.
And the LORD spake unto Aaron, Thou shalt have no inheritance in their land, neither shalt thou have any part among them: I am thy part and thine inheritance among the children of Israel.
Then the LORD said to Aaron, “You will have no inheritance in their land, nor will you have any portion among them. I am your portion and your inheritance among the Israelites.
Neither must the children of Israel henceforth come
nigh the tabernacle of the congregation, lest they bear sin, and die.
No longer may the Israelites come near to the Tent of Meeting, or they
will incur guilt and die.
But the Levites shall do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation, and they shall bear their iniquity: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations, that among the children of Israel they have no inheritance.
The Levites are to perform the work of the Tent of Meeting, and they must bear their iniquity. This is a permanent statute for the generations to come. The Levites will not receive an inheritance among the Israelites.
And this your
heave offering shall be reckoned unto you, as though it were the corn of the threshingfloor, and as the
fulness of the winepress.
Your offering
will be reckoned to you as grain from the
threshing floor or juice from the winepress.
Therefore thou shalt say unto them, When ye have
heaved the best thereof from it, then it shall be counted unto the Levites as the increase of the threshingfloor, and as the increase of the winepress.
Therefore say to the Levites, ‘When you have presented the best part, it
will be reckoned to you as the produce of the
threshing floor or winepress.
And ye shall bear no sin by reason of it, when ye have
heaved from it the best of it: neither shall ye
pollute the holy things of the children of Israel, lest ye die.
Once you have presented the best part of it, you
will not
incur guilt because of it. But you must not
defile the sacred offerings of the Israelites, or else you
will die.’”
And ye shall give her unto
Eleazar the priest, that he may bring her forth without the camp, and one shall
slay her before his face:
Give it to
Eleazar the priest, and he
will have it brought outside the camp and slaughtered in his presence.
Then the priest shall wash his clothes, and he shall
bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp, and the priest shall be unclean until the even.
Then the priest must wash his clothes and
bathe his body in water; after that he may enter the camp, but he
will be
ceremonially unclean until evening.
And he that burneth her shall wash his clothes in water, and
bathe his flesh in water, and shall be unclean until the even.
The one who burned the
heifer must also wash his clothes and
bathe his body in water, and he too
will be
ceremonially unclean until evening.
And he that gathereth the ashes of the
heifer shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: and it shall be unto the children of Israel, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among them, for a statute for ever.
The man who has gathered up the ashes of the
heifer must also wash his clothes, and he
will be
ceremonially unclean until evening. This is a permanent statute for the Israelites and for the foreigner residing among them.
He that toucheth the dead body of any man shall be unclean seven days.
Whoever touches any dead body
will be unclean for seven days.
He shall
purify himself with it on the third day, and on the seventh day he shall be clean: but if he
purify not himself the third day, then the seventh day he shall not be clean.
He must
purify himself with the water on the third day and on the seventh day; then he
will be clean. But if he does not
purify himself on the third and seventh days, he
will not be clean.
This is the law, when a man dieth in a tent: all that come into the tent, and all that is in the tent, shall be unclean seven days.
This is the law when a person dies in a tent:
Everyone who enters the tent and
everyone already in the tent
will be unclean for seven days,
And
whosoever toucheth one that is slain with a sword in the open fields, or a dead body, or a bone of a man, or a grave, shall be unclean seven days.
Anyone in the open field who touches someone who has been killed by the sword or has died of natural causes, or
anyone who touches a human bone or a grave,
will be unclean for seven days.
And the clean person shall
sprinkle upon the unclean on the third day, and on the seventh day: and on the seventh day he shall
purify himself, and wash his clothes, and
bathe himself in water, and shall be clean at even.
The man who is
ceremonially clean is to
sprinkle the unclean person on the third day and on the seventh day. After he purifies the unclean person on the seventh day, the one being
cleansed must wash his clothes and
bathe in water, and that evening he
will be clean.
But the man that shall be unclean, and shall not
purify himself, that soul shall be cut off from among the congregation, because he hath
defiled the sanctuary of the LORD: the water of separation hath not been
sprinkled upon him; he is unclean.
But if a person who is unclean does not
purify himself, he
will be cut off from the assembly, because he has
defiled the sanctuary of the LORD. The water of
purification has not been
sprinkled on him; he is unclean.
And it shall be a perpetual statute unto them, that he that sprinkleth the water of separation shall wash his clothes; and he that toucheth the water of separation shall be unclean until even.
This is a permanent statute for the people: The one who sprinkles the water of
purification must wash his clothes, and
whoever touches the water of
purification will be unclean until evening.
And
whatsoever the unclean person toucheth shall be unclean; and the soul that toucheth it shall be unclean until even.
Anything the unclean person touches
will become unclean, and
anyone who touches it
will be unclean until evening.”
Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink.
“Take the staff and
assemble the congregation. You and your brother Aaron are to speak to the rock while they watch, and it
will pour out its water. You
will bring out water from the rock and provide drink for the congregation and their
livestock.”
And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to
sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.
But the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not trust Me to show My
holiness in the sight of the Israelites, you
will not bring this assembly into the land that I have given them.”
Let us pass, I pray thee, through thy country: we will not pass through the fields, or through the vineyards, neither will we drink of the water of the wells: we will go by the king’s high way, we will not turn to the right hand nor to the left, until we have passed thy borders.
Please let us pass through your land. We
will not cut through any field or
vineyard, or drink water from any well. We
will stay on the King’s
Highway; we
will not turn to the right or to the left until we have passed through your territory.”
And
Edom said unto him, Thou shalt not pass by me, lest I come out against thee with the sword.
But
Edom answered, “You may not travel through our land, or we
will come out and
confront you with the sword.”
And the children of Israel said unto him, We will go by the high way: and if I and my cattle drink of thy water, then I will pay for it: I will only, without doing any thing else, go through on my feet.
“We will stay on the main road,” the Israelites replied, “and if we or our herds drink your water, we will pay for it. There will be no problem; only let us pass through on foot.”
Aaron shall be gathered unto his people: for he shall not enter into the land which I have given unto the children of Israel, because ye rebelled against my word at the water of Meribah.
“Aaron will be gathered to his people; he will not enter the land that I have given the Israelites, because both of you rebelled against My command at the waters of Meribah.
And strip Aaron of his garments, and put them upon
Eleazar his son: and Aaron shall be gathered unto his people, and shall die there.
Remove Aaron’s priestly garments and put them on his son
Eleazar. Aaron
will be gathered to his people and
will die there.”
And Israel
vowed a
vow unto the LORD, and said, If thou
wilt indeed deliver this people into my hand, then I
will utterly destroy their cities.
So Israel made a
vow to the LORD: “If You
will deliver this people into our hands, we
will devote their cities to destruction.”
Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have
sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.
Then the people came to Moses and said, “We have
sinned by speaking against the LORD and against you.
Intercede with the LORD so He
will take the snakes away from us.” So Moses
interceded for the people.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a
fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is
bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Make a
fiery serpent and mount it on a pole. When
anyone who is
bitten looks at it, he
will live.”
And from thence they went to Beer: that is the well
whereof the LORD spake unto Moses, Gather the people together, and I
will give them water.
From there they went on to Beer, the well where the LORD said to Moses, “Gather the people so that I may give them water.”
Let me pass through thy land: we will not turn into the fields, or into the vineyards; we will not drink of the waters of the well: but we will go along by the king’s high way, until we be past thy borders.
“Let us pass through your land. We
will not cut through any field or
vineyard, or drink water from any well. We
will stay on the King’s
Highway until we have passed through your territory.”
And Moab said unto the elders of
Midian, Now shall this company
lick up all that are round about us, as the ox licketh up the grass of the field. And Balak the son of Zippor was king of the Moabites at that time.
So the Moabites said to the elders of
Midian, “This
horde will devour everything around us, as an ox licks up the grass of the field.” Since Balak son of Zippor was king of Moab at that time,
And he said unto them,
Lodge here this night, and I
will bring you word again, as the LORD shall speak unto me: and the princes of Moab abode with
Balaam.
“
Spend the night here,”
Balaam replied, “and I
will give you the answer that the LORD speaks to me.” So the princes of Moab stayed with
Balaam.
For I
will promote thee unto very great honour, and I
will do
whatsoever thou sayest unto me: come therefore, I pray thee,
curse me this people.
for I
will honor you richly and do whatever you say. So please come and put a
curse on this people for me!’”
Now therefore, I pray you,
tarry ye also here this night, that I may know what the LORD
will say unto me more.
So now, please stay here overnight as the others did, that I may find out what else the LORD has to tell me.”
And
Balaam said unto the angel of the LORD, I have
sinned; for I knew not that thou stoodest in the way against me: now therefore, if it displease thee, I
will get me back again.
“I have
sinned,”
Balaam said to the angel of the LORD, “for I did not
realize that you were standing in the road to
confront me. And now, if this is displeasing in your sight, I
will go back home.”
And
Balaam said unto Balak, Stand by thy burnt offering, and I
will go:
peradventure the LORD
will come to meet me: and
whatsoever he sheweth me I
will tell thee. And he went to an high place.
“Stay here by your burnt offering while I am gone,”
Balaam said to Balak. “Perhaps the LORD
will meet with me. And whatever He reveals to me, I
will tell you.” So
Balaam went off to a barren height,
And Balak said unto him, Come, I pray thee, with me unto another place, from whence thou mayest see them: thou shalt see but the utmost part of them, and shalt not see them all: and
curse me them from thence.
Then Balak said to him, “Please come with me to another place where you can see them. You
will only see the outskirts of their camp—not all of them. And from there,
curse them for me.”
Surely there is no
enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any
divination against Israel: according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What hath God wrought!
For there is no
spell against Jacob and no
divination against Israel. It
will now be said of Jacob and Israel, ‘What great things God has done!’
And Balak said unto
Balaam, Come, I pray thee, I
will bring thee unto another place;
peradventure it
will please God that thou mayest
curse me them from thence.
“Please come,” said Balak, “I
will take you to another place. Perhaps it
will please God that you
curse them for me from there.”
He shall pour the water out of his buckets, and his seed shall be in many waters, and his king shall be higher than
Agag, and his kingdom shall be
exalted.
Water
will flow from his buckets, and his seed
will have abundant water. His king
will be greater than
Agag, and his kingdom
will be
exalted.
If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the commandment of the LORD, to do either good or bad of mine own mind; but what the LORD saith, that will I speak?
that even if Balak were to give me his house full of silver and gold, I could not do anything of my own
accord, good or bad, to go beyond the command of the LORD? I
will speak whatever the LORD says.
And now, behold, I go unto my people: come therefore, and I
will advertise thee what this people shall do to thy people in the latter days.
Now I am going back to my people, but come, let me
warn you what this people
will do to your people in the days to come.”
I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not
nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a
Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall
smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of
Sheth.
I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not near. A star
will come forth from Jacob, and a
scepter will arise from Israel. He
will crush the skulls of Moab and strike down all the sons of
Sheth.
And
Edom shall be a possession,
Seir also shall be a possession for his enemies; and Israel shall do
valiantly.
Edom will become a possession, as
will Seir, his enemy; but Israel
will perform with
valor.
Out of Jacob shall come he that shall have dominion, and shall destroy him that remaineth of the city.
A ruler will come from Jacob and destroy the survivors of the city.”
Nevertheless the Kenite shall be wasted, until Asshur shall carry thee away
captive.
Yet
Kain will be destroyed when Asshur takes you
captive.”
And ships shall come from the coast of
Chittim, and shall
afflict Asshur, and shall
afflict Eber, and he also shall perish for ever.
Ships
will come from the coasts of
Cyprus; they
will subdue Asshur and Eber, but they too
will perish
forever.”
And he shall have it, and his seed after him, even the covenant of an
everlasting priesthood; because he was
zealous for his God, and made an
atonement for the children of Israel.
It
will be a covenant of permanent priesthood for him and his descendants, because he was
zealous for his God and made
atonement for the Israelites.”
And when thou hast seen it, thou also shalt be gathered unto thy people, as Aaron thy brother was gathered.
After you have seen it, you too will be gathered to your people, as your brother Aaron was;
Which may go out before them, and which may go in before them, and which may lead them out, and which may bring them in; that the congregation of the LORD be not as sheep which have no
shepherd.
who
will go out and come in before them, and who
will lead them out and bring them in, so that the congregation of the LORD
will not be like sheep without a
shepherd.”
And thou shalt put some of thine honour upon him, that all the congregation of the children of Israel may be
obedient.
Confer on him some of your authority, so that the whole congregation of Israel
will obey him.
And he shall stand before
Eleazar the priest, who shall ask counsel for him after the judgment of
Urim before the LORD: at his word shall they go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he, and all the children of Israel with him, even all the congregation.
He shall stand before
Eleazar the priest, who
will seek counsel for him before the LORD by the judgment of the
Urim. At his command, he and all the Israelites with him—the entire congregation—
will go out and come in.”
And in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, ye shall have an holy
convocation; ye shall do no
servile work: it is a day of blowing the
trumpets unto you.
“On the first day of the seventh month, you are to hold a sacred assembly, and you must not do any regular work. This
will be a day for you to sound the
trumpets.
But if her father disallow her in the day that he heareth; not any of her vows, or of her bonds
wherewith she hath bound her soul, shall stand: and the LORD shall
forgive her, because her father disallowed her.
But if her father prohibits her on the day he hears about it, then none of the vows or pledges by which she has bound herself shall stand. The LORD
will absolve her because her father has prohibited her.
But if her husband disallowed her on the day that he heard it; then he shall make her
vow which she
vowed, and that which she uttered with her lips,
wherewith she bound her soul, of none effect: and the LORD shall
forgive her.
But if her husband prohibits her when he hears of it, he nullifies the
vow that binds her or the
rash promise she has made, and the LORD
will absolve her.
But if her husband hath utterly made them void on the day he heard them; then
whatsoever proceeded out of her lips concerning her vows, or concerning the bond of her soul, shall not stand: her husband hath made them void; and the LORD shall
forgive her.
But if her husband nullifies them on the day he hears of them, then nothing that came from her lips, whether her vows or pledges, shall stand. Her husband has
nullified them, and the LORD
will absolve her.
But if he shall any ways make them void after that he hath heard them; then he shall bear her iniquity.
But if he nullifies them after he hears of them, then he will bear her iniquity.”
Avenge the children of Israel of the Midianites: afterward shalt thou be gathered unto thy people.
“Take
vengeance on the Midianites for the Israelites. After that, you
will be gathered to your people.”
Every thing that may
abide the fire, ye shall make it go through the fire, and it shall be clean: nevertheless it shall be
purified with the water of separation: and all that abideth not the fire ye shall make go through the water.
everything that can
withstand the fire—must be put through the fire, and it
will be clean. But it must still be
purified with the water of
