Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
in which you used to walk when you
conformed to the ways of this
world and of the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit who is now at work in the sons of disobedience.
That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the
commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the
world:
remember that at that time you were separate from Christ,
alienated from the
commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the
world.
And to make all men see what is the
fellowship of the
mystery, which from the beginning of the
world hath been
hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:
Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages,
world without end.
Amen.
to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations,
forever and ever.
Amen.
For we
wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against
principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this
world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this world’s darkness, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
so that you may be
blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a
crooked and
perverse generation, in which you
shine as lights in the
world Which is come unto you, as it is in all the
world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it
doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth:
that has come to you. All over the world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing, just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and truly understood the grace of God.
Beware lest any man
spoil you through philosophy and vain
deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the
world, and not after Christ.
See to it that no one takes you
captive through philosophy and empty
deception, which are based on human tradition and the spiritual forces of the
world rather than on Christ.
Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,
If you have died with Christ to the spiritual forces of the world, why, as though you still belonged to the world, do you submit to its regulations:
This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all
acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the
world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
This is a
trustworthy saying, worthy of full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the
world to save sinners, of whom I am the worst.
And without controversy great is the
mystery of
godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the
world, received up into glory.
By common confession, the
mystery of
godliness is great: He appeared in the flesh, was
vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was proclaimed among the nations, was believed in throughout the
world, was taken up in glory.
For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
For we brought nothing into the world, so we cannot carry anything out of it.
Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;
Instruct those who are rich in the present age not to be
conceited and not to put their hope in the uncertainty of wealth, but in God, who richly provides all things for us to enjoy.
Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
He has saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works, but by His own purpose and by the grace He granted us in Christ Jesus before time began.
In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;
in the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began.
Teaching us that, denying
ungodliness and
worldly lusts, we should live
soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present
world;
It instructs us to
renounce ungodliness and
worldly passions, and to live sensible, upright, and godly lives in the present age,
Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
But in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, and through whom He made the universe.
And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.
And again, when God brings His
firstborn into the
world, He says: “Let all God’s angels worship Him.”
For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the
world to come,
whereof we speak.
For it is not to angels that He has subjected the world to come, about which we are speaking.
For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have
sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the
world.
Now we who have believed enter that rest. As for the others, it is just as God has said: “So I
swore on oath in My anger, ‘They shall never enter My rest.’” And yet His works have been finished since the foundation of the
world.
And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age—
Then
verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a
worldly sanctuary.
Now the first covenant had regulations for worship and also an earthly sanctuary.
For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.
Otherwise, Christ would have had to suffer repeatedly since the foundation of the world. But now He has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of Himself.
Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:
Therefore, when Christ came into the world, He said: “Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, but a body You prepared for Me.
Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.
By faith
Noah, being
warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the
world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
By faith
Noah, when
warned about things not yet seen, in godly fear built an ark to save his family. By faith he condemned the
world and became heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.
(Of whom the
world was not worthy:) they
wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.
The
world was not worthy of them. They
wandered in deserts and mountains, and
hid in caves and holes in the ground.
Pure religion and
undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their
affliction, and to keep himself
unspotted from the
world.
Pure and
undefiled religion before our God and Father is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep
oneself from being
polluted by the
world.
Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this
world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?
Listen, my beloved brothers: Has not God chosen the poor of this
world to be rich in faith and to
inherit the kingdom He promised those who love Him?
And the tongue is a fire, a
world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of
hell.
The tongue also is a fire, a
world of wickedness among the parts of the body. It pollutes the whole person, sets the course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by
hell.
Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the
world is
enmity with God?
whosoever therefore will be a friend of the
world is the enemy of God.
You adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the
world is hostility toward God? Therefore,
whoever chooses to be a friend of the
world renders himself an enemy of God.
Who
verily was foreordained before the foundation of the
world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
He was known before the foundation of the world, but was revealed in the last times for your sake.
Whom resist
stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the
world.
Resist him, standing firm in your faith and in the knowledge that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kinds of suffering.
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the
world through
lust.
Through these He has given us His precious and magnificent promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, now that you have escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
And
spared not the old
world, but saved
Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the
world of the ungodly;
if He did not
spare the ancient
world when He brought the flood on its ungodly people, but preserved
Noah, a preacher of righteousness, among the eight;
For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the
world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again
entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
If indeed they have escaped the corruption of the
world through the knowledge of our Lord and
Savior Jesus Christ, only to be
entangled and overcome by it again, their final condition is worse than it was at first.
Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
through which the world of that time perished in the flood.
And he is the
propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole
world.
He Himself is the
atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole
world.
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
Do not love the
world or anything in the
world. If
anyone loves the
world, the love of the Father is not in him.
For all that is in the
world, the
lust of the flesh, and the
lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the
world.
For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh, the desires of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not from the Father but from the world.
And the
world passeth away, and the
lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
The
world is passing away, along with its desires; but
whoever does the will of God remains
forever.
Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
Behold what manner of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God. And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him.
So do not be surprised, brothers, if the world hates you.
But
whoso hath this
world’s good, and
seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his
bowels of
compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
If
anyone with earthly possessions sees his brother in need, but withholds his
compassion from him, how can the love of God
abide in him?
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God. For many false prophets have gone out into the world.
And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of
antichrist,
whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the
world.
and every spirit that does not
confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the
antichrist, which you have heard is coming and which is already in the
world at this time.
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
You, little children, are from God and have overcome them, because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.
They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.
They are of the
world. That is why they speak from the
world’s
perspective, and the
world listens to them.
In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only
begotten Son into the
world, that we might live through him.
This is how God’s love was revealed among us: God sent His one and only Son into the world, so that we might live through Him.
And we have seen and do
testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the
world.
And we have seen and
testify that the Father has sent His Son to be the
Savior of the
world.
Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this
world.
In this way, love has been perfected among us, so that we may have confidence on the day of judgment; for in this world we are just like Him.
For
whatsoever is born of God overcometh the
world: and this is the victory that overcometh the
world, even our faith.
because
everyone born of God overcomes the
world. And this is the victory that has overcome the
world: our faith.
Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
Who then overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.
And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.
We know that we are of God, and that the whole world is under the power of the evil one.
For many deceivers are entered into the
world, who
confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a
deceiver and an
antichrist.
For many deceivers have gone out into the
world, refusing to
confess the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh. Any such person is the
deceiver and the
antichrist.
These be they who separate themselves,
sensual, having not the Spirit.
These are the ones who cause divisions, who are worldly and devoid of the Spirit.
Because thou hast kept the word of my
patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of
temptation, which shall come upon all the
world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.
Because you have kept My command to
persevere, I will also keep you from the hour of testing that is about to come upon the whole
world, to test those who dwell on the earth.
And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.
Then the seventh angel sounded his
trumpet, and loud voices called out in heaven: “The kingdom of the
world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ, and He will reign
forever and ever.”
And the great
dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and
Satan, which deceiveth the whole
world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
And the great
dragon was
hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil and
Satan, the
deceiver of the whole
world. He was
hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.
And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was
healed: and all the
world wondered after the beast.
One of the heads of the beast appeared to be
mortally wounded. But the
mortal wound was
healed, and the whole
world marveled and followed the beast.
And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
And all who dwell on the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written from the foundation of the world in the Book of Life belonging to the Lamb who was slain.
For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole
world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God
Almighty.
These are
demonic spirits that perform signs and go out to all the kings of the earth, to
assemble them for battle on the great day of God the
Almighty.
The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall
ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into
perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the
world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
The beast that you saw—it was, and now is no more, but is about to come up out of the
Abyss and go to its destruction. And those who dwell on the earth whose names were not written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the
world will
marvel when they see the beast that was, and is not, and yet will be.
Saying, Thus saith Cyrus king of the Persians; The Lord of Israel, the most high Lord, hath made me king of the whole world,
And therefore I say unto you, O ye heathen, that hear and understand, look for your
Shepherd, he shall give you
everlasting rest; for he is
nigh at hand, that shall come in the end of the
world.
Which are departed from the shadow of the world, and have received glorious garments of the Lord.
So he answered and said unto me, It is the Son of God, whom they have
confessed in the
world. Then began I greatly to
commend them that stood so stiffly for the name of the Lord.
And again in process of time thou broughtest the flood upon those that dwelt in the world, and destroyedst them.
And bowing the heavens, thou
didst set fast the earth, movedst the whole
world, and madest the depths to
tremble, and troubledst the men of that age.
Weigh thou therefore our wickedness now in the balance, and their’s also that dwell the
world; and so shall thy name no where be found but in Israel.
And said, Thy heart hath gone to far in this
world, and thinkest thou to
comprehend the way of the most High?
How should thy vessel then be able to
comprehend the way of the Highest, and, the
world being now outwardly corrupted to understand the corruption that is evident in my sight?
And we pass away out of the
world as grasshoppers, and our life is
astonishment and fear, and we are not worthy to obtain mercy.
Then answered he me, and said, The more thou searchest, the more thou shalt
marvel; for the
world hasteth fast to pass away,
And cannot
comprehend the things that are promised to the righteous in time to come: for this
world is full of unrighteousness and
infirmities.
And unto these things Uriel the
archangel gave them answer, and said, Even when the number of seeds is filled in you: for he hath
weighed the
world in the balance.
And of all lands of the whole
world thou hast chosen thee one pit: and of all the flowers thereof one
lily:
Then answered he me, and said, The creature may not
haste above the maker; neither may the
world hold them at once that shall be created therein.
For like as a young child may not bring forth the things that belong to the aged, even so have I disposed the world which I created.
And he said unto me, In the beginning, when the earth was made, before the borders of the
world stood, or ever the winds
blew,
For
Esau is the end of the
world, and Jacob is the beginning of it that followeth.
And when the
world, that shall begin to
vanish away, shall be finished, then will I
shew these
tokens: the books shall be opened before the
firmament, and they shall see all together:
Whosoever remaineth from all these that I have told thee shall escape, and see my salvation, and the end of your
world.
All this have I spoken before thee, O Lord, because thou madest the world for our sakes
If the
world now be made for our sakes, why do we not possess an inheritance with the
world? how long shall this
endure?
Because for their sakes I made the
world: and when Adam
transgressed my statutes, then was decreed that now is done.
Then were the entrances of this
world made narrow, full of sorrow and
travail: they are but few and evil, full of perils,: and very painful.
For the entrances of the elder
world were wide and sure, and brought
immortal fruit.
And the world shall be turned into the old silence seven days, like as in the former judgments: so that no man shall remain.
And after seven days the world, that yet awaketh not, shall be raised up, and that shall die that is corrupt
I answered then, and said, I know, Lord, that the most High is called
merciful, in that he hath mercy upon them which are not yet come into the
world,
For if he shall not multiply his
mercies, the
world would not continue with them that
inherit therein.
And he answered me, saying, The most High hath made this world for many, but the world to come for few.
I will tell thee a
similitude,
Esdras; As when thou askest the earth, it shall say unto thee, that it giveth much mould
whereof earthen vessels are made, but little dust that gold cometh of: even so is the course of this present
world.
For as the
husbandman soweth much seed upon the ground, and planteth many trees, and yet the thing that is sown good in his season cometh not up, neither
doth all that is planted take root: even so is it of them that are sown in the
world; they shall not all be saved.
For many great
miseries shall be done to them that in the latter time shall dwell in the
world, because they have walked in great pride.
Then shalt thou understand, that it is the very same time, wherein the Highest will begin to visit the world which he made.
Therefore when there shall be seen earthquakes and uproars of the people in the world:
