And
Ishmael the son of Nethaniah went forth from
Mizpah to meet them,
weeping all along as he went: and it came to pass, as he met them, he said unto them, Come to Gedaliah the son of
Ahikam.
Now the pit wherein
Ishmael had cast
all the dead bodies of the men, whom he had slain because of Gedaliah, was it which
Asa the king had made for fear of
Baasha king of Israel: and
Ishmael the son of Nethaniah filled it with them that were slain.
Now the
cistern into which
Ishmael had thrown
all the bodies of the men he had struck down along with Gedaliah was a large one that King
Asa had made for fear of
Baasha king of Israel.
Ishmael son of Nethaniah filled it with the slain.
Then
Ishmael carried away
captive all the residue of the people that were in
Mizpah, even the king’s daughters, and
all the people that remained in
Mizpah, whom Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard had committed to Gedaliah the son of
Ahikam: and
Ishmael the son of Nethaniah carried them away
captive, and departed to go over to the
Ammonites.
But when Johanan the son of Kareah, and
all the captains of the forces that were with him, heard of
all the evil that
Ishmael the son of Nethaniah had done,
When Johanan son of Kareah and
all the commanders of the armies with him heard of
all the crimes that
Ishmael son of Nethaniah had committed,
Then they took
all the men, and went to fight with
Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and found him by the great waters that are in
Gibeon.
they took
all their men and went to fight
Ishmael son of Nethaniah. And they found him near the great
pool in
Gibeon.
Now it came to pass, that when
all the people which were with
Ishmael saw Johanan the son of Kareah, and
all the captains of the forces that were with him, then they were
glad.
When
all the people with
Ishmael saw Johanan son of Kareah and
all the commanders of the army with him, they
rejoiced,
So
all the people that
Ishmael had carried away
captive from
Mizpah cast about and returned, and went unto Johanan the son of Kareah.
and
all the people whom
Ishmael had taken
captive at
Mizpah turned and went over to Johanan son of Kareah.
Then took Johanan the son of Kareah, and
all the captains of the forces that were with him,
all the
remnant of the people whom he had recovered from
Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, from
Mizpah, after that he had slain Gedaliah the son of
Ahikam, even mighty men of war, and the women, and the children, and the eunuchs, whom he had brought again from
Gibeon:
Then Johanan son of Kareah and
all the commanders of the armies with him took the whole
remnant of the people from
Mizpah whom he had recovered from
Ishmael son of Nethaniah after
Ishmael had killed Gedaliah son of
Ahikam: the soldiers, women, children, and court officials he had brought back from
Gibeon.
Then all the captains of the forces, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and Jezaniah the son of Hoshaiah, and all the people from the least even unto the greatest, came near,
Then all the commanders of the forces, along with Johanan son of Kareah, Jezaniah son of Hoshaiah, and all the people from the least to the greatest, approached
And said unto Jeremiah the prophet, Let, we
beseech thee, our
supplication be accepted before thee, and pray for us unto the LORD thy God, even for
all this
remnant; (for we are left but a few of many, as thine eyes do behold us:)
Jeremiah the prophet and said, “May our petition come before you; pray to the LORD your God on behalf of this entire
remnant. For few of us remain of the many, as you can see with your own eyes.
Then they said to Jeremiah, The LORD be a true and faithful witness between us, if we do not even according to all things for the which the LORD thy God shall send thee to us.
Then they said to Jeremiah, “May the LORD be a true and faithful witness against us if we do not act upon every word that the LORD your God sends you to tell us.
Then called he Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces which were with him, and all the people from the least even to the greatest,
and he summoned Johanan son of Kareah, all the commanders of the forces who were with him, and all the people from the least to the greatest.
So shall it be with
all the men that set their faces to go into Egypt to
sojourn there; they shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the
pestilence: and none of them shall remain or escape from the evil that I will bring upon them.
So
all who
resolve to go to Egypt to reside there will die by sword and famine and plague. Not one of them will
survive or escape the
disaster I will bring upon them.’
For ye
dissembled in your hearts, when ye sent me unto the LORD your God, saying, Pray for us unto the LORD our God; and according unto
all that the LORD our God shall say, so declare unto us, and we will do it.
For you have
deceived yourselves by sending me to the LORD your God, saying, ‘Pray to the LORD our God on our behalf, and as for
all that the LORD our God says, tell it to us and we will do it.’
And now I have this day declared it to you; but ye have not obeyed the voice of the LORD your God, nor any thing for the which he hath sent me unto you.
For I have told you
today, but you have not obeyed the voice of the LORD your God in
all He has sent me to tell you.
And it came to pass, that when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking unto all the people all the words of the LORD their God, for which the LORD their God had sent him to them, even all these words,
When Jeremiah had finished telling all the people all the words of the LORD their God—everything that the LORD had sent him to say—
Then spake
Azariah the son of Hoshaiah, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and
all the proud men, saying unto Jeremiah, Thou speakest falsely: the LORD our God hath not sent thee to say, Go not into Egypt to
sojourn there:
Azariah son of Hoshaiah, Johanan son of Kareah, and
all the
arrogant men said to Jeremiah, “You are lying! The LORD our God has not sent you to say, ‘You must not go to Egypt to reside there.’
So Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces, and all the people, obeyed not the voice of the LORD, to dwell in the land of Judah.
So Johanan son of Kareah and all the commanders of the forces disobeyed the command of the LORD to stay in the land of Judah.
But Johanan the son of Kareah, and
all the captains of the forces, took
all the
remnant of Judah, that were returned from
all nations,
whither they had been driven, to dwell in the land of Judah;
Instead, Johanan son of Kareah and
all the commanders of the forces took the whole
remnant of Judah, those who had returned to the land of Judah from
all the nations to which they had been scattered,
Even men, and women, and children, and the king’s daughters, and every person that Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard had left with Gedaliah the son of
Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Jeremiah the prophet, and
Baruch the son of Neriah.
the men, the women, the children, the king’s daughters, and
everyone whom Nebuzaradan captain of the guard had
allowed to remain with Gedaliah son of
Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, as well as Jeremiah the prophet and
Baruch son of Neriah.
The word that came to Jeremiah concerning
all the Jews which dwell in the land of Egypt, which dwell at
Migdol, and at Tahpanhes, and at
Noph, and in the country of Pathros, saying,
This is the word that came to Jeremiah concerning
all the Jews living in the land of Egypt—in
Migdol, Tahpanhes, and
Memphis—and in the land of Pathros:
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Ye have seen
all the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, and upon
all the cities of Judah; and, behold, this day they are a
desolation, and no man dwelleth therein,
“This is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: You have seen
all the
disaster that I brought against Jerusalem and
all the cities of Judah; and behold, they lie
today in ruins and
desolation Howbeit I sent unto you
all my servants the prophets, rising early and sending them, saying, Oh, do not this
abominable thing that I
hate.
Yet I sent you
all My servants the prophets again and again, saying: ‘Do not do this
detestable thing that I
hate.’
In that ye
provoke me unto wrath with the works of your hands, burning incense unto other gods in the land of Egypt,
whither ye be gone to dwell, that ye might cut
yourselves off, and that ye might be a
curse and a reproach among
all the nations of the earth?
Why are you
provoking Me to anger by the work of your hands by burning incense to other gods in the land of Egypt, where you have gone to reside? As a result, you will be cut off and will become an object of
cursing and reproach among
all the nations of the earth.
Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will set my face against you for evil, and to cut off all Judah.
Therefore this is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: I will set My face to bring
disaster and to cut off
all Judah.
And I will take the
remnant of Judah, that have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt to
sojourn there, and they shall
all be consumed, and fall in the land of Egypt; they shall even be consumed by the sword and by the famine: they shall die, from the least even unto the greatest, by the sword and by the famine: and they shall be an
execration, and an
astonishment, and a
curse, and a reproach.
And I will take away the
remnant of Judah who have resolved to go to the land of Egypt to reside there; they will meet their end. They will
all fall by the sword or be consumed by famine. From the least to the greatest, they will die by sword or famine; and they will become an object of
cursing and
horror, of
vilification and reproach.
Then all the men which knew that their wives had burned incense unto other gods, and all the women that stood by, a great multitude, even all the people that dwelt in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying,
Then all the men who knew that their wives were burning incense to other gods, and all the women standing by—a great assembly—along with all the people living in the land of Egypt and in Pathros, said to Jeremiah,
But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine.
But from the time we stopped burning incense to the Queen of Heaven and pouring out drink offerings to her, we have lacked everything and have been perishing by sword and famine.”
Then Jeremiah said unto all the people, to the men, and to the women, and to all the people which had given him that answer, saying,
Then Jeremiah said to all the people, both men and women, who were answering him,
Moreover Jeremiah said unto all the people, and to all the women, Hear the word of the LORD, all Judah that are in the land of Egypt:
Then Jeremiah said to all the people, including all the women, “Hear the word of the LORD, all those of Judah who are in the land of Egypt.
Therefore hear ye the word of the LORD,
all Judah that dwell in the land of Egypt; Behold, I have
sworn by my great name, saith the LORD, that my name shall no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in
all the land of Egypt, saying, The Lord GOD liveth.
Nevertheless, hear the word of the LORD,
all you people of Judah living in Egypt: Behold, I have
sworn by My great name, says the LORD, that never again will any man of Judah living in the land of Egypt
invoke My name or say, ‘As surely as the Lord GOD lives.’
Behold, I will watch over them for evil, and not for good: and all the men of Judah that are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until there be an end of them.
I am watching over them for
harm and not for good, and every man of Judah who is in the land of Egypt will meet his end by sword or famine, until they are finished off.
Yet a small number that escape the sword shall return out of the land of Egypt into the land of Judah, and
all the
remnant of Judah, that are gone into the land of Egypt to
sojourn there, shall know whose words shall stand, mine, or theirs.
Those who escape the sword will return from Egypt to Judah, few in number, and the whole
remnant of Judah who went to dwell in the land of Egypt will know whose word will stand, Mine or theirs!
And seekest thou great things for
thyself? seek them not: for, behold, I will bring evil upon
all flesh, saith the LORD: but thy life will I give unto thee for a prey in
all places
whither thou goest.
But as for you, do you seek great things for
yourself? Stop seeking! For I will bring
disaster on every living creature, declares the LORD, but wherever you go, I will grant your life as a
spoil of war.”
They did cry there, Pharaoh king of Egypt is but a noise; he hath passed the time appointed.
There they will cry out: ‘Pharaoh king of Egypt was all noise; he has let the appointed time pass him by.’
The LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saith; Behold, I will
punish the multitude of No, and Pharaoh, and Egypt, with their gods, and their kings; even Pharaoh, and
all them that trust in him:
The LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: “Behold, I am about to
punish Amon god of
Thebes, along with Pharaoh, Egypt with her gods and kings, and those who trust in Pharaoh.
Fear thou not, O Jacob my servant, saith the LORD: for I am with thee; for I will make a full end of
all the nations
whither I have driven thee: but I will not make a full end of thee, but correct thee in measure; yet will I not leave thee wholly unpunished.
And you, My servant Jacob, do not be afraid, declares the LORD, for I am with you. Though I will completely destroy all the nations to which I have banished you, I will not completely destroy you. Yet I will discipline you justly, and will by no means leave you unpunished.”
Thus saith the LORD; Behold, waters rise up out of the north, and shall be an overflowing flood, and shall overflow the land, and
all that is therein; the city, and them that dwell therein: then the men shall cry, and
all the inhabitants of the land shall
howl.
This is what the LORD says: “See how the waters are rising from the north and becoming an overflowing
torrent. They will overflow the land and its fullness, the cities and their inhabitants. The people will cry out, and
all who dwell in the land will
wail Because of the day that cometh to
spoil all the Philistines, and to cut off from Tyrus and Zidon every helper that remaineth: for the LORD will
spoil the Philistines, the
remnant of the country of Caphtor.
For the day has come to destroy
all the Philistines, to cut off from Tyre and
Sidon every remaining
ally. Indeed, the LORD is about to destroy the Philistines, the
remnant from the coasts of Caphtor.
All ye that are about him,
bemoan him; and
all ye that know his name, say, How is the strong staff broken, and the beautiful rod!
And upon Kerioth, and upon
Bozrah, and upon
all the cities of the land of Moab, far or near.
upon Kerioth,
Bozrah, and
all the towns of Moab, those far and near.
Therefore will I
howl for Moab, and I will cry out for
all Moab; mine heart shall
mourn for the men of Kir-heres.
Therefore I will
wail for Moab; I will cry out for
all of Moab; I will
moan for the men of Kir-heres.
There shall be
lamentation generally upon
all the housetops of Moab, and in the streets thereof: for I have broken Moab like a vessel wherein is no pleasure, saith the LORD.
On
all the rooftops of Moab and in the public squares,
everyone is
mourning; for I have
shattered Moab like an unwanted
jar,” declares the LORD.
They shall
howl, saying, How is it broken down! how hath Moab turned the back with shame! so shall Moab be a
derision and a dismaying to
all them about him.
“How
shattered it is! How they
wail! How Moab has turned his back in shame! Moab has become an object of
ridicule and
horror to
all those around him.”
Behold, I will bring a fear upon thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts, from all those that be about thee; and ye shall be driven out every man right forth; and none shall gather up him that wandereth.
Behold, I am about to bring terror upon you, declares the Lord GOD of Hosts, from
all those around you. You will each be driven
headlong, with no one to regather the fugitives.
For I have
sworn by myself, saith the LORD, that
Bozrah shall become a
desolation, a reproach, a waste, and a
curse; and
all the cities thereof shall be perpetual wastes.
Also
Edom shall be a
desolation: every one that goeth by it shall be
astonished, and shall hiss at
all the plagues thereof.
Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all the men of war shall be cut off in that day, saith the LORD of hosts.
For her young men will fall in the streets, and all her warriors will be silenced in that day,” declares the LORD of Hosts.
Their tents and their flocks shall they take away: they shall take to themselves their curtains, and all their vessels, and their camels; and they shall cry unto them, Fear is on every side.
They will take their tents and flocks, their tent curtains and
all their goods. They will take their camels for themselves. They will
shout to them: ‘Terror is on every side!’
And their camels shall be a
booty, and the multitude of their cattle a
spoil: and I will
scatter into
all winds them that are in the utmost corners; and I will bring their
calamity from
all sides thereof, saith the LORD.
Their camels will become
plunder, and their large herds will be
spoil. I will
scatter to the wind in every direction those who
shave their temples; I will bring
calamity on them from
all sides,” declares the LORD.
And upon
Elam will I bring the four winds from the four quarters of heaven, and will
scatter them toward
all those winds; and there shall be no nation
whither the outcasts of
Elam shall not come.
I will bring the four winds against
Elam from the four corners of the heavens, and I will
scatter them to
all these winds. There will not be a nation to which
Elam’s exiles will not go.
All who found them
devoured them, and their enemies said, ‘We are not guilty, for they have
sinned against the LORD, their true pasture, the LORD, the hope of their fathers.’
Because of the wrath of the LORD it shall not be inhabited, but it shall be wholly
desolate: every one that goeth by Babylon shall be
astonished, and hiss at
all her plagues.
Because of the wrath of the LORD, she will not be inhabited; she will become completely
desolate.
All who pass through Babylon will be
horrified and will hiss at
all her wounds.
Put
yourselves in
array against Babylon round about:
all ye that bend the bow, shoot at her,
spare no arrows: for she hath
sinned against the LORD.
Line up in formation around Babylon,
all you who draw the bow! Shoot at her!
Spare no arrows! For she has
sinned against the LORD.
Go up against the land of Merathaim, even against it, and against the inhabitants of Pekod: waste and utterly destroy after them, saith the LORD, and do according to all that I have commanded thee.
Go up against the land of Merathaim, and against the residents of Pekod. Kill them and
devote them to destruction. Do
all that I have commanded you,” declares the LORD.
Slay all her bullocks; let them go down to the slaughter:
woe unto them! for their day is come, the time of their
visitation.
Kill
all her young bulls; let them go down to the slaughter.
Woe to them, for their day has come— the time of their punishment.
Call together the archers against Babylon:
all ye that bend the bow, camp against it round about; let none thereof escape:
recompense her according to her work; according to
all that she hath done, do unto her: for she hath been proud against the LORD, against the Holy One of Israel.
Summon the archers against Babylon,
all who string the bow.
Encamp all around her; let no one escape. Repay her according to her deeds; do to her as she has done. For she has
defied the LORD, the Holy One of Israel.
Therefore shall her young men fall in the streets, and all her men of war shall be cut off in that day, saith the LORD.
Therefore, her young men will fall in the streets, and all her warriors will be silenced in that day,” declares the LORD.
And the most proud shall
stumble and fall, and none shall raise him up: and I will
kindle a fire in his cities, and it shall
devour all round about him.
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The children of Israel and the children of Judah were
oppressed together: and
all that took them
captives held them fast; they refused to let them go.
This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “The sons of Israel are
oppressed, and the sons of Judah as well.
All their captors hold them fast, refusing to release them.
A sword is upon their horses, and upon their
chariots, and upon
all the mingled people that are in the midst of her; and they shall become as women: a sword is upon her treasures; and they shall be
robbed.
A sword is against her horses and
chariots and against
all the foreigners in her midst, and they will become like women. A sword is against her
treasuries, and they will be
plundered.
Against him that bendeth let the archer bend his bow, and against him that lifteth himself up in his
brigandine: and
spare ye not her young men; destroy ye utterly
all her host.
Do not let the archer bend his bow or put on his
armor. Do not
spare her young men;
devote all her army to destruction!
Babylon hath been a golden cup in the LORD’S hand, that made
all the earth
drunken: the nations have
drunken of her wine; therefore the nations are
mad.
Babylon was a gold cup in the hand of the LORD, making the whole earth
drunk. The nations
drank her wine; therefore the nations have gone
mad.
The portion of Jacob is not like them; for he is the former of all things: and Israel is the rod of his inheritance: the LORD of hosts is his name.
The Portion of Jacob is not like these, for He is the Maker of all things, and of the tribe of His inheritance— the LORD of Hosts is His name.
And I will render unto Babylon and to
all the inhabitants of
Chaldea all their evil that they have done in
Zion in your sight, saith the LORD.
Before your very eyes I will repay Babylon and
all the dwellers of
Chaldea for
all the evil they have done in
Zion,” declares the LORD.
Behold, I am against thee, O destroying mountain, saith the LORD, which destroyest all the earth: and I will stretch out mine hand upon thee, and roll thee down from the rocks, and will make thee a burnt mountain.
“Behold, I am against you, O destroying mountain, you who
devastate the whole earth, declares the LORD. I will stretch out My hand against you; I will roll you over the cliffs and turn you into a
charred mountain.
Prepare against her the nations with the kings of the Medes, the captains thereof, and all the rulers thereof, and all the land of his dominion.
Prepare the nations for battle against her— the kings of the Medes, their governors and all their officials, and all the lands they rule.
How is Sheshach taken! and how is the praise of the whole earth surprised! how is Babylon become an
astonishment among the nations!
How Sheshach has been captured! The praise of
all the earth has been seized. What a
horror Babylon has become among the nations!
Therefore, behold, the days come, that I will do judgment upon the
graven images of Babylon: and her whole land shall be confounded, and
all her slain shall fall in the midst of her.
Therefore, behold, the days are coming when I will
punish the idols of Babylon. Her entire land will suffer shame, and
all her slain will lie fallen within her.
Then the heaven and the earth, and all that is therein, shall sing for Babylon: for the spoilers shall come unto her from the north, saith the LORD.
Then heaven and earth and
all that is in them will
shout for joy over Babylon because the destroyers from the north will come against her,” declares the LORD.
As Babylon hath caused the slain of Israel to fall, so at Babylon shall fall the slain of all the earth.
“Babylon must fall on account of the slain of Israel, just as the slain of all the earth have fallen because of Babylon.
Wherefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will do judgment upon her
graven images: and through
all her land the wounded shall
groan.
“Therefore, behold, the days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when I will
punish her idols, and throughout her land the wounded will
groan.
So Jeremiah wrote in a book all the evil that should come upon Babylon, even all these words that are written against Babylon.
Jeremiah had written on a single
scroll about
all the
disaster that would come upon Babylon—
all these words that had been written concerning Babylon.
And Jeremiah said to Seraiah, When thou comest to Babylon, and shalt see, and shalt read all these words;
And Jeremiah said to Seraiah, “When you get to Babylon, see that you read
all these words
aloud,
And he did that which was evil in the eyes of the LORD, according to
all that
Jehoiakim had done.
For through the anger of the LORD it came to pass in Jerusalem and Judah, till he had cast them out from his presence, that
Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.
For because of the anger of the LORD,
all this happened in Jerusalem and Judah, until He finally banished them from His presence. And
Zedekiah also rebelled against the king of Babylon.
And it came to pass in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, that Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon came, he and all his army, against Jerusalem, and pitched against it, and built forts against it round about.
So in the ninth year of
Zedekiah’s reign, on the tenth day of the tenth month,
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon marched against Jerusalem with his entire army. They
encamped outside the city and built a siege wall
all around it.
Then the city was broken up, and all the men of war fled, and went forth out of the city by night by the way of the gate between the two walls, which was by the king’s garden; (now the Chaldeans were by the city round about:) and they went by the way of the plain.
Then the city was breached; and though the Chaldeans had surrounded the city, all the men of war fled the city by night by way of the gate between the two walls near the king’s garden. They headed toward the Arabah,
But the army of the Chaldeans pursued after the king, and overtook
Zedekiah in the plains of
Jericho; and
all his army was scattered from him.
but the army of the Chaldeans pursued the king and overtook
Zedekiah in the plains of
Jericho, and
all his army was separated from him.
And the king of Babylon
slew the sons of
Zedekiah before his eyes: he
slew also
all the princes of Judah in Riblah.
There at Riblah the king of Babylon slaughtered the sons of
Zedekiah before his eyes, and he also killed
all the officials of Judah.
And burned the house of the LORD, and the king’s house; and all the houses of Jerusalem, and all the houses of the great men, burned he with fire:
He burned down the house of the LORD, the royal palace, and
all the houses of Jerusalem—every
significant building.
And
all the army of the Chaldeans, that were with the captain of the guard,
brake down
all the walls of Jerusalem round about.
And the whole army of the Chaldeans under the captain of the guard broke down all the walls around Jerusalem.
Also the pillars of brass that were in the house of the LORD, and the bases, and the
brasen sea that was in the house of the LORD, the Chaldeans
brake, and carried
all the brass of them to Babylon.
Moreover, the Chaldeans broke up the bronze pillars and stands and the bronze Sea in the house of the LORD, and they carried all the bronze to Babylon.
The caldrons also, and the shovels, and the
snuffers, and the
bowls, and the spoons, and
all the vessels of brass
wherewith they ministered, took they away.
They also took away the pots, shovels,
wick trimmers,
sprinkling bowls, dishes, and
all the articles of bronze used in the temple service.
The two pillars, one sea, and twelve
brasen bulls that were under the bases, which king Solomon had made in the house of the LORD: the brass of
all these vessels was without weight.
As for the two pillars, the Sea, the twelve bronze bulls under it, and the movable stands that King Solomon had made for the house of the LORD, the weight of the bronze from all these articles was beyond measure.
And a
chapiter of brass was upon it; and the height of one
chapiter was five cubits, with network and pomegranates upon the chapiters round about,
all of brass. The second
pillar also and the pomegranates were like unto these.
The bronze capital
atop one
pillar was five cubits high, with a network of bronze pomegranates
all around. The second
pillar, with its pomegranates, was similar.
And there were
ninety and six pomegranates on a side; and
all the pomegranates upon the network were an hundred round about.
Each capital had
ninety-six pomegranates on the sides, and a total of a hundred pomegranates were above the surrounding network.
In the three and
twentieth year of Nebuchadrezzar Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard carried away
captive of the Jews seven hundred forty and five persons:
all the persons were four thousand and six hundred.
in
Nebuchadnezzar’s twenty-third year, Nebuzaradan captain of the guard carried away 745 Jews. So in
all, 4,600 people were taken away.
And changed his prison garments: and he did continually eat bread before him all the days of his life.
So
Jehoiachin changed out of his prison clothes, and he
dined regularly at the king’s table for the rest of his life.
And for his diet, there was a continual diet given him of the king of Babylon, every day a portion until the day of his death, all the days of his life.
And the king of Babylon provided
Jehoiachin a daily portion for the rest of his life, until the day of his death.
She weepeth
sore in the night, and her tears are on her cheeks: among
all her lovers she hath none to comfort her:
all her friends have dealt
treacherously with her, they are become her enemies.
She weeps
aloud in the night, with tears upon her cheeks. Among
all her lovers there is no one to comfort her.
All her friends have
betrayed her; they have become her enemies.
Judah is gone into captivity because of
affliction, and because of great
servitude: she dwelleth among the heathen, she findeth no rest:
all her persecutors overtook her between the straits.
Judah has gone into exile under
affliction and harsh slavery; she dwells among the nations but finds no place to rest.
All her pursuers have overtaken her in the midst of her distress.
The ways of
Zion do
mourn, because none come to the solemn feasts:
all her gates are
desolate: her priests
sigh, her virgins are
afflicted, and she is in bitterness.
The roads to
Zion mourn, because no one comes to her appointed feasts.
All her gates are deserted; her priests
groan, her maidens
grieve, and she herself is bitter with
anguish.
And from the daughter of
Zion all her beauty is departed: her princes are become like harts that find no pasture, and they are gone without strength before the pursuer.
All the
splendor has departed from the Daughter of
Zion. Her princes are like deer that find no pasture; they lack the strength to
flee in the face of the hunter.
Jerusalem remembered in the days of her
affliction and of her
miseries all her pleasant things that she had in the days of old, when her people fell into the hand of the enemy, and none did help her: the
adversaries saw her, and did
mock at her sabbaths.
In the days of her
affliction and wandering Jerusalem remembers
all the treasures that were hers in days of old. When her people fell into enemy hands she received no help. Her enemies looked upon her,
laughing at her
downfall.
Jerusalem hath
grievously sinned; therefore she is removed:
all that honoured her
despise her, because they have seen her nakedness:
yea, she sigheth, and turneth backward.
Jerusalem has
sinned greatly; therefore she has become an object of
scorn.
All who honored her now
despise her, for they have seen her nakedness; she herself groans and turns away.
The
adversary hath spread out his hand upon
all her pleasant things: for she hath seen that the heathen entered into her sanctuary, whom thou
didst command that they should not enter into thy congregation.
The
adversary has seized
all her treasures. For she has seen the nations enter her sanctuary— those You had forbidden to enter Your assembly.
All her people
sigh, they seek bread; they have given their pleasant things for meat to
relieve the soul: see, O LORD, and consider; for I am become
vile.
All her people
groan as they search for bread. They have traded their treasures for food to keep themselves alive. Look, O LORD, and consider, for I have become
despised.
