Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
For in many things we
offend all. If any man
offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able
also to
bridle the whole body.
We all
stumble in many ways. If
anyone is never at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to control his whole body.
Behold
also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small
helm,
whithersoever the governor listeth.
Consider ships as well. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are
steered by a very small
rudder wherever the
pilot is inclined.
And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of
hell.
The tongue
also is a fire, a world of wickedness among the parts of the body. It pollutes the whole person, sets the course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by
hell.
Be ye
also patient;
stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth
nigh.
You, too, be patient and
strengthen your hearts, because the Lord’s coming is near.
Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
Wherefore
also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in
Sion a chief corner stone,
elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
For it stands in Scripture: “See, I lay in
Zion a stone, a chosen and precious cornerstone; and the one who believes in Him will never be put to shame.”
and, “A stone of
stumbling and a rock of
offense.” They
stumble because they disobey the word—and to this they were appointed.
Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but
also to the
froward.
Servants, submit
yourselves to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and gentle, but even to those who are unreasonable.
For even
hereunto were ye called: because Christ
also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in His footsteps:
Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;
Wives, in the same way, submit
yourselves to your husbands, so that even if they refuse to believe the word, they will be won over without words by the
behavior of their wives
For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:
For this is how the holy women of the past adorned themselves. They put their hope in God and were
submissive to their husbands,
For Christ
also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but
quickened by the Spirit:
For Christ also suffered for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit,
By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
in whom He also went and preached to the spirits in prison
The like figure
whereunto even baptism
doth also now save us (not the putting away of the
filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
And this water symbolizes the baptism that now saves you
also—not the removal of
dirt from the body, but the
pledge of a clear conscience toward God—through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.
That is why the gospel was preached even to those who are now dead, so that they might be judged as men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.
But
rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be
glad also with exceeding joy.
But
rejoice that you share in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed at the revelation of His glory.
The elders which are among you I
exhort, who am
also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and
also a
partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:
As a fellow elder, a witness of Christ’s sufferings, and a
partaker of the glory to be revealed, I appeal to the elders among you:
We have
also a more sure word of prophecy;
whereunto ye do well that ye take
heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day
dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
We
also have the word of the prophets as confirmed beyond doubt. And you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a lamp
shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.
But there were false prophets
also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who
privily shall bring in
damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
Now there were
also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive
heresies, even denying the Master who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves.
But the day of the Lord will come as a
thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall
melt with
fervent heat, the earth
also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
But the Day of the Lord will come like a
thief. The heavens will disappear with a
roar, the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and its works will be laid bare.
And account that the
longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul
also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
Consider
also that our Lord’s
patience brings salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul
also wrote you with the wisdom God gave him.
As
also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable
wrest, as they do
also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
He writes this way in all his letters, speaking in them about such matters. Some parts of his letters are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people
distort, as they do the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.
Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before,
beware lest ye
also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own
stedfastness.
Therefore, beloved, since you already know these things, be on your guard so that you will not be carried away by the error of the lawless and fall from your secure standing.
That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye
also may have
fellowship with us: and truly our
fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
We
proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you
also may have
fellowship with us. And this
fellowship of ours is with the Father and with His Son, Jesus Christ.
And he is the
propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but
also for the sins of the whole world.
He Himself is the
atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but
also for the sins of the whole world.
He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.
Then again, I am
also writing to you a new commandment, which is true in Him and
also in you. For the darkness is
fading and the true light is already
shining.
Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father
also.
Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father, but
whoever confesses the Son has the Father as well.
Let that therefore
abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye
also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.
As for you, let what you have heard from the beginning remain in you. If it does, you will also remain in the Son and in the Father.
If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.
If you know that He is righteous, you
also know that
everyone who practices righteousness has been born of Him.
Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.
And we have this commandment from Him:
Whoever loves God must love his brother as well.
Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that
begat loveth him
also that is
begotten of him.
Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and
everyone who loves the Father
also loves those born of Him.
The elder unto the
elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but
also all they that have known the truth;
The elder, To the chosen lady and her children, whom I love in the truth—and not I alone, but also all who know the truth—
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest
prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
Beloved, I pray that in every way you may
prosper and enjoy good health, as your soul
also prospers.
Demetrius hath good report of all men, and of the truth itself:
yea, and we
also bear record; and ye know that our record is true.
Demetrius has received a good testimony from
everyone, and from the truth itself. We
also testify for him, and you know that our testimony is true.
Yet in the same way these dreamers
defile their bodies,
reject authority, and
slander glorious beings.
And
Enoch also, the seventh from Adam,
prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,
Enoch, the seventh from Adam,
also prophesied about them: “Behold, the Lord is coming with myriads of His holy ones
Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they
also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall
wail because of him. Even so,
Amen.
Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him—even those who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will
mourn because of Him. So shall it be!
Amen.
I John, who
also am your brother, and companion in
tribulation, and in the kingdom and
patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called
Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.
I, John, your brother and
partner in the
tribulation and kingdom and
perseverance that are in Jesus, was on the island of
Patmos because of the word of God and my testimony about Jesus.
But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitanes, which I
also hate.
So hast thou
also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitanes, which thing I
hate.
In the same way, some of you
also hold to the teaching of the
Nicolaitans.
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden
manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.
He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who overcomes, I will give the hidden
manna. I will
also give him a white stone inscribed with a new name, known only to the one who receives it.
Because thou hast kept the word of my
patience, I
also will keep thee from the hour of
temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.
Because you have kept My command to
persevere, I will
also keep you from the hour of testing that is about to come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.
To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
To the one who overcomes, I will grant the right to sit with Me on My throne, just as I overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.
And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.
Then each of them was given a white
robe and told to rest a little while longer, until the full number of their fellow servants, their brothers, were killed, just as they had been killed.
And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of
chariots of many horses running to battle.
They
also had thoraxes like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the
roar of many horses and
chariots rushing into battle.
And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called
Sodom and Egypt, where
also our Lord was
crucified.
And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he
also having a sharp
sickle.
Then another angel came out of the temple in heaven, and he too had a sharp
sickle.
And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.
There are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, and the other has not yet come; but when he does come, he must remain for only a little while.
The holy singers
also, the sons of
Asaph, were in their order, according to the appointment of David, to wit,
Asaph,
Zacharias, and
Jeduthun, who was of the king’s
retinue.
The king of Egypt
also made king Joacim his brother king of
Judea and Jerusalem.
Nabuchodonosor also took of the holy vessels of the Lord, and carried them away, and set them in his own temple at Babylon.
And he did evil also in the sight of the Lord, and cared not for the words that were spoken unto him by the prophet Jeremy from the mouth of the Lord.
The governors
also of the people and of the priests did many things against the laws, and passed all the pollutions of all nations, and
defiled the temple of the Lord, which was
sanctified in Jerusalem.
Nevertheless the God of their fathers sent by his
messenger to call them back, because he
spared them and his tabernacle
also.
The Lord raised up the spirit of Cyrus the king of the Persians, and he made
proclamation through all his kingdom, and
also by writing,
Then the chief of the families of
Judea and of the tribe of Benjamin stood up; the priests
also, and the Levites, and all they whose mind the Lord had moved to go up, and to build an house for the Lord at Jerusalem,
King Cyrus also brought forth the holy vessels, which Nabuchodonosor had carried away from Jerusalem, and had set up in his temple of idols.
Now if this city and the walls thereof be made up again, they will not only refuse to give tribute, but
also rebel against kings.
It turneth
also every thought into
jollity and
mirth, so that a man remembereth neither sorrow nor debt:
These also make garments for men; these bring glory unto men; and without women cannot men be.
By this
also ye must know that women have dominion over you: do ye not labour and
toil, and give and bring all to the woman?
Many
also have perished, have
erred, and
sinned, for women.
And taking the crown from the king’s head, and setting it upon her own head; she also struck the king with her left hand.
And yet for all this the king
gaped and
gazed upon her with open mouth: if she
laughed upon him, he
laughed also: but if she took any displeasure at him, the king was
fain to
flatter, that she might be
reconciled to him again.
Wine is wicked, the king is wicked, women are wicked, all the children of men are wicked, and such are all their wicked works; and there is no truth in them; in their unrighteousness also they shall perish.
Thou
also hast
vowed to build up the temple, which the Edomites burned when
Judea was made
desolate by the Chaldees.
He wrote letters
also unto the lieutenants that were in Celosyria and Phenice, and unto them in Libanus, that they should bring
cedar wood from Libanus unto Jerusalem, and that they should build the city with him.
He wrote
also concerning. the charges, and the priests’
vestments wherein they minister;
He sent away also all the vessels from Babylon, that Cyrus had set apart; and all that Cyrus had given in commandment, the same charged he also to be done, and sent unto Jerusalem.
And so dwelt the priests and the Levites and the people in Jerusalem, and in the country, the singers
also and the
porters; and all Israel in their villages.
Also they held the feast of tabernacles, as it is commanded in the law, and offered sacrifices daily, as was meet:
Unto them of Zidon
also and Tyre they gave carrs, that they should bring
cedar trees from Libanus, which should be brought by floats to the
haven of
Joppa, according as it was commanded them by Cyrus king of the Persians.
Also of the priests and Levites, and of the chief of their families, the ancients who had seen the former house came to the building of this with
weeping and great crying.
And
also he commanded that Sisinnes the governor of Syria and Phenice, and Sathrabuzanes, and their companions, and those which were appointed rulers in Syria and Phenice, should be careful not to
meddle with the place, but suffer Zorobabel, the servant of the Lord, and governor of
Judea, and the elders of the Jews, to build the house of the Lord in that place.
I have commanded
also to have it built up whole again; and that they look
diligently to help those that be of the captivity of the Jews, till the house of the Lord be finished:
And
also corn, salt, wine, and oil, and that continually every year without further question, according as the priests that be in Jerusalem shall
signify to be daily spent:
The priests
also and the Levites stood
arrayed in their
vestments, according to their kindreds, in the service of the Lord God of Israel, according to the book of Moses: and the
porters at every gate.
There went up with him
also certain of the children of Israel, of the priest of the Levites, of the holy singers,
porters, and ministers of the temple, unto Jerusalem,
With that
also which is given of the people for the temple of the Lord their God at Jerusalem: and that silver and gold may be collected for bullocks, rams, and lambs, and things
thereunto appertaining;
And I king Artexerxes have
also commanded the keepers of the treasures in Syria and Phenice, that
whatsoever Esdras the priest and the reader of the law of the most high God shall send for, they should give it him with speed,
To the sum of an hundred talents of silver, likewise also of wheat even to an hundred cors, and an hundred pieces of wine, and other things in abundance.
I command you
also, that ye require no tax, nor any other imposition, of any of the priests, or Levites, or holy singers, or
porters, or ministers of the temple, or of any that have doings in this temple, and that no man have authority to
impose any thing upon them.
Also Jesus,
Anus, Sarabias, Adinus, Jacubus, Sabateas, Auteas, Maianeas, and Calitas, Asrias, and Joazabdus, and
Ananias, Biatas, the Levites, taught the law of the Lord, making them
withal to understand it.
Seeing ye have
forsaken me, I will
forsake you
also; when ye desire me to be
gracious unto you, I shall have no mercy upon you.
Nahum, and Abacuc, Sophonias, Aggeus, Zachary, and
Malachy, which is called
also an angel of the Lord.
Whose land lieth in clods of pitch and heaps of ashes: even so
also will I do unto them that hear me not, saith the
Almighty Lord.
Their glory
also will I take unto me, and give these the
everlasting tabernacles, which I had prepared for them.
And unto him thou gavest Isaac, and unto Isaac
also thou gavest Jacob and
Esau. As for Jacob, thou
didst choose him to thee, and put by
Esau: and so Jacob became a great multitude.
Thus
infirmity was made permanent; and the law (
also) in the heart of the people with the
malignity of the root; so that the good departed away, and the evil abode still.
And in all things did even as Adam and all his generations had done: for they also had a wicked heart:
Weigh thou therefore our wickedness now in the balance, and their’s
also that dwell the world; and so shall thy name no where be found but in Israel.
Whereof if thou canst declare me one, I will
shew thee
also the way that thou desirest to see, and I shall
shew thee from whence the wicked heart cometh.
The floods of the sea
also in like manner took counsel, and said, Come, let us go up and
subdue the woods of the plain, that there
also we may make us another country.
I answered and said,
Verily it is a
foolish thought that they both have devised, for the ground is given unto the wood, and the sea
also hath his place to bear his floods.
Then answered he me, and said, Thou hast given a right judgment, but why judgest thou not
thyself also?
Did not the souls also of the righteous ask question of these things in their chambers, saying, How long shall I hope on this fashion? when cometh the fruit of the floor of our reward?
There shall be a confusion
also in many places, and the fire shall be
oft sent out again, and the wild beasts shall change their places, and
menstruous women shall bring forth monsters:
