When the Philistines took the
ark of God, they brought it into the house of
Dagon, and set it by
Dagon.
carried it into the temple of
Dagon, and set it beside his statue.
And when they of
Ashdod arose early on the
morrow, behold,
Dagon was fallen upon his face to the earth before the
ark of the LORD. And they took
Dagon, and set him in his place again.
When the people of
Ashdod got up early the next morning, there was
Dagon, fallen on his face before the
ark of the LORD. So they took
Dagon and returned him to his place.
And when they arose early on the
morrow morning, behold,
Dagon was fallen upon his face to the ground before the
ark of the LORD; and the head of
Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off upon the
threshold; only the
stump of
Dagon was left to him.
But when they got up early the next morning, there was
Dagon, fallen on his face before the
ark of the LORD, with his head and his hands broken off and lying on the
threshold. Only the
torso remained.
And when the men of
Ashdod saw that it was so, they said, The
ark of the God of Israel shall not
abide with us: for his hand is
sore upon us, and upon
Dagon our god.
And when the men of
Ashdod saw what was happening, they said, “The
ark of the God of Israel must not stay here with us, because His hand is heavy upon us and upon our god
Dagon.”
They sent therefore and gathered all the lords of the Philistines unto them, and said, What shall we do with the
ark of the God of Israel? And they answered, Let the
ark of the God of Israel be carried about unto
Gath. And they carried the
ark of the God of Israel about thither.
So they called together all the rulers of the Philistines and asked, “What shall we do with the
ark of the God of Israel?” “It must be moved to
Gath,” they replied. So they carried away the
ark of the God of Israel.
And it was so, that, after they had carried it about, the hand of the LORD was against the city with a very great destruction: and he
smote the men of the city, both small and great, and they had
emerods in their secret parts.
But after they had moved the
ark to
Gath, the LORD’s hand was also against that city, throwing it into great confusion and
afflicting the men of the city, both young and old, with an outbreak of tumors.
Therefore they sent the
ark of God to
Ekron. And it came to pass, as the
ark of God came to
Ekron, that the Ekronites
cried out, saying, They have brought about the
ark of the God of Israel to us, to
slay us and our people.
So they sent the
ark of God to
Ekron, but as it arrived, the Ekronites
cried out, “They have brought us the
ark of the God of Israel in order to kill us and our people!”
So they sent and gathered together all the lords of the Philistines, and said, Send away the
ark of the God of Israel, and let it go again to his own place, that it
slay us not, and our people: for there was a deadly destruction throughout all the city; the hand of God was very heavy there.
Then the Ekronites assembled all the rulers of the Philistines and said, “Send away the
ark of the God of Israel. It must return to its place, so that it will not kill us and our people!” For a deadly confusion had
pervaded the city; the hand of God was heavy upon it.
And the ark of the LORD was in the country of the Philistines seven months.
When the ark of the LORD had been in the land of the Philistines seven months,
And the Philistines called for the priests and the diviners, saying, What shall we do to the
ark of the LORD? tell us
wherewith we shall send it to his place.
the Philistines summoned the priests and diviners, saying, “What shall we do with the ark of the LORD? Tell us how to send it back to its place.”
And they said, If ye send away the
ark of the God of Israel, send it not empty; but in any wise return him a
trespass offering: then ye shall be
healed, and it shall be known to you why his hand is not removed from you.
They replied, “If you return the
ark of the God of Israel, do not send it away empty, but by all means return it to Him with a guilt offering. Then you will be
healed, and you will understand why His hand has not been lifted from you.”
And take the
ark of the LORD, and lay it upon the
cart; and put the jewels of gold, which ye return him for a
trespass offering, in a
coffer by the side thereof; and send it away, that it may go.
Take the
ark of the LORD, set it on the
cart, and in a chest beside it put the gold objects you are sending Him as a guilt offering. Then send the
ark on its way,
And they laid the
ark of the LORD upon the
cart, and the
coffer with the
mice of gold and the images of their
emerods.
Then they put the
ark of the LORD on the
cart, along with the chest containing the gold rats and the images of the tumors.
And they of Beth-shemesh were
reaping their wheat harvest in the valley: and they lifted up their eyes, and saw the
ark, and
rejoiced to see it.
Now the people of Beth-shemesh were harvesting wheat in the valley, and when they looked up and saw the ark, they were overjoyed at the sight.
And the Levites took down the
ark of the LORD, and the
coffer that was with it, wherein the jewels of gold were, and put them on the great stone: and the men of Beth-shemesh offered burnt offerings and sacrificed sacrifices the same day unto the LORD.
And the Levites took down the ark of the LORD and the chest containing the gold objects, and they placed them on the large rock. That day the men of Beth-shemesh offered burnt offerings and made sacrifices to the LORD.
And the golden
mice, according to the number of all the cities of the Philistines belonging to the five lords, both of
fenced cities, and of country villages, even unto the great stone of
Abel,
whereon they set down the
ark of the LORD: which stone remaineth unto this day in the field of Joshua, the Beth-
shemite.
The number of gold rats also corresponded to the number of
Philistine cities belonging to the five rulers—the fortified cities and their outlying villages. And the large rock on which they placed the
ark of the LORD stands to this day in the field of Joshua of Beth-shemesh.
And he
smote the men of Beth-shemesh, because they had looked into the
ark of the LORD, even he
smote of the people fifty thousand and
threescore and ten men: and the people
lamented, because the LORD had
smitten many of the people with a great slaughter.
But God struck down some of the people of Beth-shemesh because they looked inside the
ark of the LORD. He struck down seventy men, and the people
mourned because the LORD had struck them with a great slaughter.
And the men of Beth-shemesh said, Who is able to stand before this holy LORD God? and to whom shall he go up from us?
The men of Beth-shemesh asked, “Who can stand in the presence of the LORD, this holy God? To whom should the ark go up from here?”
And they sent messengers to the inhabitants of Kirjath-jearim, saying, The Philistines have brought again the
ark of the LORD; come ye down, and
fetch it up to you.
So they sent messengers to the people of Kiriath-jearim, saying, “The Philistines have returned the ark of the LORD. Come down and take it up with you.”
And the men of Kirjath-jearim came, and brought up the
ark of the LORD, and brought it into the house of Abinadab in the hill, and
sanctified Eleazar his son to keep the
ark of the LORD.
Then the men of Kiriath-jearim came for the
ark of the LORD and took it into Abinadab’s house on the hill. And they consecrated his son
Eleazar to guard the
ark of the LORD.
And it came to pass, while the
ark abode in Kirjath-jearim, that the time was long; for it was twenty years: and all the house of Israel
lamented after the LORD.
And from that day a long time passed, twenty years in all, as the
ark remained at Kiriath-jearim. And all the house of Israel
mourned and sought after the LORD.
And Saul said unto Ahiah, Bring
hither the
ark of God. For the
ark of God was at that time with the children of Israel.
Then Saul said to
Ahijah, “Bring the
ark of God.” (For at that time it was with the Israelites.)
And David arose, and went with all the people that were with him from Baale of Judah, to bring up from thence the ark of God, whose name is called by the name of the LORD of hosts that dwelleth between the cherubims.
And he and all his troops set out for Baale of Judah to bring up from there the
ark of God, which is called by the Name— the name of the LORD of Hosts, who is enthroned between the
cherubim that are on it.
And they set the
ark of God upon a new
cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab that was in Gibeah: and Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab,
drave the new
cart.
They set the
ark of God on a new
cart and brought it from the house of Abinadab, which was on the hill. Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, were guiding the new
cart,
And they brought it out of the house of Abinadab which was at Gibeah, accompanying the ark of God: and Ahio went before the ark.
bringing with it the ark of God. And Ahio was walking in front of the ark.
And when they came to Nachon’s threshingfloor, Uzzah put forth his hand to the
ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen
shook it.
When they came to the
threshing floor of Nacon, Uzzah reached out and took hold of the
ark of God, because the oxen had
stumbled.
And the anger of the LORD was
kindled against Uzzah; and God
smote him there for his error; and there he died by the
ark of God.
And the anger of the LORD burned against Uzzah, and God struck him down on the spot for his
irreverence, and he died there beside the
ark of God.
And David was afraid of the LORD that day, and said, How shall the ark of the LORD come to me?
That day David feared the LORD and asked, “How can the ark of the LORD ever come to me?”
So David would not remove the
ark of the LORD unto him into the city of David: but David carried it aside into the house of Obed-
edom the Gittite.
So he was unwilling to move the
ark of the LORD to the City of David; instead, he took it aside to the house of Obed-
edom the Gittite.
And the
ark of the LORD continued in the house of Obed-
edom the Gittite three months: and the LORD blessed Obed-
edom, and all his household.
Thus the
ark of the LORD remained in the house of Obed-
edom the Gittite for three months, and the LORD blessed him and all his household.
And it was told king David, saying, The LORD hath blessed the house of Obed-
edom, and all that pertaineth unto him, because of the
ark of God. So David went and brought up the
ark of God from the house of Obed-
edom into the city of David with
gladness.
Now it was reported to King David, “The LORD has blessed the house of Obed-
edom and all that belongs to him, because of the
ark of God.” So David went and had the
ark of God brought up from the house of Obed-
edom into the City of David with
rejoicing.
And it was so, that when they that bare the ark of the LORD had gone six paces, he sacrificed oxen and fatlings.
When those carrying the
ark of the LORD had advanced six paces, he sacrificed an ox and a
fattened calf.
So David and all the house of Israel brought up the
ark of the LORD with
shouting, and with the sound of the
trumpet.
while he and all the house of Israel brought up the
ark of the LORD with
shouting and the sounding of the ram’s horn.
And as the
ark of the LORD came into the city of David, Michal Saul’s daughter looked through a window, and saw king David
leaping and dancing before the LORD; and she
despised him in her heart.
As the
ark of the LORD was entering the City of David, Saul’s daughter Michal looked down from a window and saw King David
leaping and dancing before the LORD, and she
despised him in her heart.
And they brought in the ark of the LORD, and set it in his place, in the midst of the tabernacle that David had pitched for it: and David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD.
So they brought the ark of the LORD and set it in its place inside the tent that David had pitched for it. Then David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD.
That the king said unto
Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in an house of
cedar, but the
ark of God dwelleth within curtains.
he said to
Nathan the prophet, “Here I am, living in a house of
cedar, while the
ark of God remains in a tent.”
And Uriah said unto David, The
ark, and Israel, and Judah,
abide in tents; and my lord
Joab, and the servants of my lord, are
encamped in the open fields; shall I then go into mine house, to eat and to drink, and to lie with my wife? as thou livest, and as thy soul liveth, I will not do this thing.
Uriah answered, “The
ark and Israel and Judah are dwelling in tents, and my master
Joab and his soldiers are camped in the open field. How can I go to my house to eat and drink and sleep with my wife? As surely as you live, and as your soul lives, I will not do such a thing!”
And lo
Zadok also, and all the Levites were with him, bearing the
ark of the covenant of God: and they set down the
ark of God; and
Abiathar went up, until all the people had done passing out of the city.
Zadok was also there, and all the Levites with him were carrying the
ark of the covenant of God. And they set down the
ark of God, and
Abiathar offered sacrifices until the people had passed out of the city.
And the king said unto
Zadok, Carry back the
ark of God into the city: if I shall find favour in the eyes of the LORD, he will bring me again, and
shew me both it, and his
habitation:
Then the king said to
Zadok, “Return the
ark of God to the city. If I find favor in the eyes of the LORD, He will bring me back and let me see both it and His dwelling place again.
So
Zadok and
Abiathar returned the
ark of God to Jerusalem and stayed there.
And unto
Abiathar the priest said the king, Get thee to Anathoth, unto thine own fields; for thou art worthy of death: but I will not at this time put thee to death, because thou barest the
ark of the Lord GOD before David my father, and because thou hast been
afflicted in all wherein my father was
afflicted.
Then the king said to
Abiathar the priest, “Go back to your fields in Anathoth. Even though you deserve to die, I will not put you to death at this time, since you carried the
ark of the Lord GOD before my father David, and you suffered through all that my father suffered.”
And Solomon
awoke; and, behold, it was a dream. And he came to Jerusalem, and stood before the
ark of the covenant of the LORD, and offered up burnt offerings, and offered peace offerings, and made a feast to all his servants.
Then Solomon
awoke, and indeed it had been a dream. So he returned to Jerusalem, stood before the
ark of the covenant of the Lord, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. Then he held a feast for all his servants.
And the
oracle he prepared in the house within, to set there the
ark of the covenant of the LORD.
Solomon also prepared the inner sanctuary within the temple to set the ark of the covenant of the LORD there.
Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the chief of the fathers of the children of Israel, unto king Solomon in Jerusalem, that they might bring up the
ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the city of David, which is
Zion.
At that time Solomon assembled before him in Jerusalem the elders of Israel—all the
tribal heads and family leaders of the Israelites—to bring up the
ark of the covenant of the LORD from
Zion, the City of David.
And all the elders of Israel came, and the priests took up the ark.
When all the elders of Israel had arrived, the priests took up the ark,
And they brought up the ark of the LORD, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and all the holy vessels that were in the tabernacle, even those did the priests and the Levites bring up.
and they brought up the ark of the LORD and the Tent of Meeting with all its sacred furnishings. So the priests and Levites carried them up.
And king Solomon, and all the congregation of Israel, that were assembled unto him, were with him before the ark, sacrificing sheep and oxen, that could not be told nor numbered for multitude.
There, before the ark, King Solomon and the whole congregation of Israel who had assembled with him sacrificed so many sheep and oxen that they could not be counted or numbered.
And the priests brought in the
ark of the covenant of the LORD unto his place, into the
oracle of the house, to the most holy place, even under the wings of the cherubims.
Then the priests brought the
ark of the covenant of the LORD to its place in the inner sanctuary of the temple, the Most Holy Place, beneath the wings of the
cherubim.
For the cherubims spread forth their two wings over the place of the
ark, and the cherubims covered the
ark and the
staves thereof above.
For the
cherubim spread their wings over the place of the
ark and overshadowed the
ark and its poles.
There was nothing in the
ark save the two tables of stone, which Moses put there at
Horeb, when the LORD made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt.
There was nothing in the
ark except the two stone tablets that Moses had placed in it at
Horeb, where the LORD had made a covenant with the Israelites after they had come out of the land of Egypt.
And I have set there a place for the ark, wherein is the covenant of the LORD, which he made with our fathers, when he brought them out of the land of Egypt.
And there I have provided a place for the ark, which contains the covenant of the LORD that He made with our fathers when He brought them out of the land of Egypt.”
And the Hivite, and the
Arkite, and the Sinite,
the
Hivites, the
Arkites, the Sinites,
And these are they whom David set over the service of song in the house of the LORD, after that the ark had rest.
These are the men David put in charge of the music in the house of the LORD after the ark rested there.
And let us bring again the ark of our God to us: for we enquired not at it in the days of Saul.
Then let us bring back the ark of our God, for we did not inquire of Him in the days of Saul.”
So David gathered all Israel together, from Shihor of Egypt even unto the entering of Hemath, to bring the ark of God from Kirjath-jearim.
So David assembled all Israel, from the River Shihor in Egypt to Lebo-
hamath, to bring the
ark of God from Kiriath-jearim.
And David went up, and all Israel, to Baalah, that is, to Kirjath-jearim, which belonged to Judah, to bring up thence the ark of God the LORD, that dwelleth between the cherubims, whose name is called on it.
David and all Israel went up to Baalah of Judah (that is, Kiriath-jearim) to bring up from there the
ark of God the LORD, who is enthroned between the
cherubim—the
ark that is called by the Name.
And they carried the
ark of God in a new
cart out of the house of Abinadab: and Uzza and Ahio
drave the
cart.
So they carried the
ark of God from the house of Abinadab on a new
cart, with Uzzah and Ahio guiding the
cart.
And when they came unto the threshingfloor of Chidon, Uzza put forth his hand to hold the
ark; for the oxen
stumbled.
When they came to the
threshing floor of Chidon, Uzzah reached out and took hold of the
ark, because the oxen had
stumbled.
And the anger of the LORD was
kindled against Uzza, and he
smote him, because he put his hand to the
ark: and there he died before God.
And the anger of the LORD burned against Uzzah, and He struck him down because he had put his hand on the ark. So he died there before God.
And David was afraid of God that day, saying, How shall I bring the ark of God home to me?
That day David feared God and asked, “How can I ever bring the ark of God to me?”
So David brought not the
ark home to himself to the city of David, but carried it aside into the house of Obed-
edom the Gittite.
So he did not move the
ark with him to the City of David; instead, he took it aside to the house of Obed-
edom the Gittite.
And the
ark of God remained with the family of Obed-
edom in his house three months. And the LORD blessed the house of Obed-
edom, and all that he had.
Thus the
ark of God remained with the family of Obed-
edom in his house for three months, and the LORD blessed his household and everything he owned.
And David made him houses in the city of David, and prepared a place for the ark of God, and pitched for it a tent.
David constructed buildings for himself in the City of David, and he prepared a place for the ark of God and pitched a tent for it.
Then David said, None ought to carry the ark of God but the Levites: for them hath the LORD chosen to carry the ark of God, and to minister unto him for ever.
Then David said, “No one but the Levites may carry the
ark of God, because the LORD has chosen them to carry the
ark of the LORD and to minister before Him
forever.”
And David gathered all Israel together to Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the LORD unto his place, which he had prepared for it.
And David assembled all Israel in Jerusalem to bring up the ark of the LORD to the place he had prepared for it.
And said unto them, Ye are the chief of the fathers of the Levites:
sanctify yourselves, both ye and your brethren, that ye may bring up the
ark of the LORD God of Israel unto the place that I have prepared for it.
And he said to them, “You are the heads of the
Levitical families. You and your relatives must
consecrate yourselves so that you may bring the
ark of the LORD, the God of Israel, to the place I have prepared for it.
So the priests and the Levites
sanctified themselves to bring up the
ark of the LORD God of Israel.
So the priests and Levites consecrated themselves to bring up the ark of the LORD, the God of Israel.
And the children of the Levites bare the
ark of God upon their shoulders with the
staves thereon, as Moses commanded according to the word of the LORD.
And the Levites carried the ark of God on their shoulders with the poles, as Moses had commanded in accordance with the word of the LORD.
And Berechiah and Elkanah were doorkeepers for the ark.
Berechiah and Elkanah were to be guardians of the ark.
And Shebaniah, and
Jehoshaphat, and Nethaneel, and Amasai, and
Zechariah, and Benaiah, and
Eliezer, the priests, did blow with the
trumpets before the
ark of God: and Obed-
edom and Jehiah were doorkeepers for the
ark.
Shebaniah, Joshaphat, Nethanel, Amasai,
Zechariah, Benaiah, and
Eliezer—the priests—were to blow the
trumpets before the
ark of God. Obed-
edom and Jehiah were also to be guardians of the
ark.
So David, and the elders of Israel, and the captains over thousands, went to bring up the
ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the house of Obed-
edom with joy.
So David, the elders of Israel, and the commanders of thousands went with
rejoicing to bring the
ark of the covenant of the LORD from the house of Obed-
edom.
And it came to pass, when God helped the Levites that bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, that they offered seven bullocks and seven rams.
And because God helped the Levites who were carrying the ark of the covenant of the LORD, they sacrificed seven bulls and seven rams.
And David was clothed with a
robe of fine linen, and all the Levites that bare the
ark, and the singers, and Chenaniah the master of the song with the singers: David also had upon him an
ephod of linen.
Now David was dressed in a
robe of fine linen, as were all the Levites who were carrying the
ark, as well as the singers and Chenaniah, the director of music for the singers. David also
wore a linen
ephod.
Thus all Israel brought up the
ark of the covenant of the LORD with
shouting, and with sound of the
cornet, and with
trumpets, and with cymbals, making a noise with
psalteries and harps.
So all Israel brought up the
ark of the covenant of the LORD with
shouting, with the sounding of rams’ horns and
trumpets, and with cymbals and the music of harps and lyres.
And it came to pass, as the
ark of the covenant of the LORD came to the city of David, that Michal the daughter of Saul looking out at a window saw king David dancing and playing: and she
despised him in her heart.
As the
ark of the covenant of the LORD was entering the City of David, Saul’s daughter Michal looked down from a window and saw King David dancing and
celebrating, and she
despised him in her heart.
So they brought the ark of God, and set it in the midst of the tent that David had pitched for it: and they offered burnt sacrifices and peace offerings before God.
So they brought the ark of God and placed it inside the tent that David had pitched for it. And they presented burnt offerings and peace offerings before God.
And he appointed certain of the Levites to minister before the
ark of the LORD, and to record, and to
thank and praise the LORD God of Israel:
David appointed some of the Levites to minister before the
ark of the LORD, to
celebrate, to give
thanks, and to praise the LORD, the God of Israel.
Benaiah also and Jahaziel the priests with
trumpets continually before the
ark of the covenant of God.
and the priests Benaiah and Jahaziel
blew the
trumpets regularly before the
ark of the covenant of God.
So he left there before the
ark of the covenant of the LORD
Asaph and his brethren, to minister before the
ark continually, as every day’s work required:
So David left
Asaph and his brothers there before the
ark of the covenant of the LORD, to minister there regularly according to the daily requirements,
Now it came to pass, as David sat in his house, that David said to
Nathan the prophet, Lo, I dwell in an house of cedars, but the
ark of the covenant of the LORD remaineth under curtains.
After David had settled into his palace, he said to
Nathan the prophet, “Here I am, living in a house of
cedar, while the
ark of the covenant of the LORD is under a tent.”
Now set your heart and your soul to seek the LORD your God; arise therefore, and build ye the sanctuary of the LORD God, to bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and the holy vessels of God, into the house that is to be built to the name of the LORD.
Now set your heart and soul to seek the LORD your God. Get started building the sanctuary of the LORD God, so that you may bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD and the holy articles of God into the temple that will be built for the Name of the LORD.”
Then David the king stood up upon his feet, and said, Hear me, my brethren, and my people: As for me, I had in mine heart to build an house of rest for the
ark of the covenant of the LORD, and for the
footstool of our God, and had made ready for the building:
Then King David rose to his feet and said, “
Listen to me, my brothers and my people. It was in my heart to build a house as a resting place for the
ark of the covenant of the LORD and as a
footstool for our God. I had made preparations to build it,
And for the altar of incense refined gold by weight; and gold for the pattern of the
chariot of the cherubims, that spread out their wings, and covered the
ark of the covenant of the LORD.
the weight of the refined gold for the altar of incense; and the plans for the
chariot of the gold
cherubim that spread their wings and overshadowed the
ark of the covenant of the LORD.
But the ark of God had David brought up from Kirjath-jearim to the place which David had prepared for it: for he had pitched a tent for it at Jerusalem.
Now David had brought the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim to the place he had prepared for it, because he had pitched a tent for it in Jerusalem.
Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the chief of the fathers of the children of Israel, unto Jerusalem, to bring up the
ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the city of David, which is
Zion.
At that time Solomon assembled in Jerusalem the elders of Israel—all the
tribal heads and family leaders of the Israelites—to bring up the
ark of the covenant of the LORD from
Zion, the City of David.
And all the elders of Israel came; and the Levites took up the ark.
When all the elders of Israel had arrived, the Levites took up the ark,
And they brought up the ark, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and all the holy vessels that were in the tabernacle, these did the priests and the Levites bring up.
and they brought up the
ark and the Tent of Meeting with all its sacred furnishings. The
Levitical priests carried them up.
Also king Solomon, and all the congregation of Israel that were assembled unto him before the ark, sacrificed sheep and oxen, which could not be told nor numbered for multitude.
There, before the ark, King Solomon and the whole congregation of Israel who had assembled with him sacrificed so many sheep and oxen that they could not be counted or numbered.
And the priests brought in the
ark of the covenant of the LORD unto his place, to the
oracle of the house, into the most holy place, even under the wings of the cherubims:
Then the priests brought the
ark of the covenant of the LORD to its place in the inner sanctuary of the temple, the Most Holy Place, beneath the wings of the
cherubim.
For the cherubims spread forth their wings over the place of the
ark, and the cherubims covered the
ark and the
staves thereof above.
For the
cherubim spread their wings over the place of the
ark and overshadowed the
ark and its poles.
And they drew out the
staves of the
ark, that the ends of the
staves were seen from the
ark before the
oracle; but they were not seen without. And there it is unto this day.
The poles of the ark extended far enough that their ends were visible from in front of the inner sanctuary, but not from outside the Holy Place; and they are there to this day.
There was nothing in the
ark save the two tables which Moses put therein at
Horeb, when the LORD made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of Egypt.
There was nothing in the
