That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made
Abram rich:
that I will not accept even a thread, or a
strap of a
sandal, or anything that
belongs to you, lest you should say, ‘I have made
Abram rich.’
And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and
whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place:
Then the two men said to Lot, “Do you have
anyone else here—a son-in-law, your sons or daughters, or
anyone else in the city who
belongs to you? Get them out of here,
Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live: and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine.
Now return the man’s wife, for he is a prophet; he will pray for you and you will live. But if you do not restore her, be aware that you will surely die—you and all who belong to you.”
That he may give me the cave of Machpelah, which he hath, which is in the end of his field; for as much money as it is worth he shall give it me for a possession of a buryingplace amongst you.
to sell me the cave of Machpelah that belongs to him; it is at the end of his field. Let him sell it to me in your presence for full price, so that I may have a burial site.”
And
Rebekah took goodly
raiment of her eldest son
Esau, which were with her in the house, and put them upon Jacob her younger son:
And
Rebekah took the finest clothes in the house that
belonged to her older son
Esau, and she put them on her younger son Jacob.
And he heard the words of
Laban’s sons, saying, Jacob hath taken away all that was our father’s; and of that which was our father’s hath he
gotten all this glory.
Now Jacob heard that
Laban’s sons were saying, “Jacob has taken away all that
belonged to our father and built all this wealth at our father’s expense.”
For all the riches which God hath taken from our father, that is ours, and our children’s: now then,
whatsoever God hath said unto thee, do.
Surely all the wealth that God has taken away from our father belongs to us and to our children. So do whatever God has told you.”
Whereas thou hast searched all my stuff, what hast thou found of all thy household stuff? set it here before my brethren and thy brethren, that they may judge
betwixt us both.
You have searched all my goods! Have you found anything that belongs to you? Put it here before my brothers and yours, that they may judge between the two of us.
And he commanded the foremost, saying, When
Esau my brother meeteth thee, and asketh thee, saying, Whose art thou? and
whither goest thou? and whose are these before thee?
He
instructed the one in the lead, “When my brother
Esau meets you and asks, ‘To whom do you
belong, where are you going, and whose animals are these before you?’
Then thou shalt say, They be thy servant Jacob’s; it is a present sent unto my lord
Esau: and, behold, also he is behind us.
then you are to say, ‘They
belong to your servant Jacob. They are a gift, sent to my lord
Esau. And behold, Jacob is behind us.’”
And
Esau said, I have enough, my brother; keep that thou hast unto
thyself.
“I already have
plenty, my brother,”
Esau replied. “Keep what
belongs to you.”
And Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in unto his brother’s wife, that he
spilled it on the ground, lest that he should give seed to his brother.
But Onan knew that the offspring would not
belong to him; so whenever he would sleep with his brother’s wife, he would
spill his seed on the ground so that he would not produce offspring for his brother.
When she was brought forth, she sent to her father in law, saying, By the man, whose these are, am I with child: and she said,
Discern, I pray thee, whose are these, the
signet, and bracelets, and staff.
As she was being brought out, Tamar sent a message to her father-in-law: “I am
pregnant by the man to whom these items
belong.” And she added, “Please examine them. Whose seal and cord and staff are these?”
And they said unto him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is no
interpreter of it. And Joseph said unto them, Do not interpretations
belong to God? tell me them, I pray you.
“We both had dreams,” they replied, “but there is no one to
interpret them.” Then Joseph said to them, “Don’t interpretations
belong to God? Tell me your dreams.”
Also regard not your stuff; for the good of all the land of Egypt is yours.
But pay no regard to your belongings, for the best of all the land of Egypt is yours.’”
All the souls that came with Jacob into Egypt, which came out of his loins, besides Jacob’s sons’ wives, all the souls were
threescore and six;
All those belonging to Jacob who came to Egypt—his direct descendants, besides the wives of Jacob’s sons—numbered sixty-six persons.
When that year was ended, they came unto him the second year, and said unto him, We will not hide it from my lord, how that our money is spent; my lord also hath our herds of cattle; there is not ought left in the sight of my lord, but our bodies, and our lands:
When that year was over, they came to him the second year and said, “We cannot hide from our lord that our money is gone and all our
livestock belongs to you. There is nothing left for our lord except our bodies and our land.
And Joseph made it a law over the land of Egypt unto this day, that Pharaoh should have the fifth part; except the land of the priests only, which became not Pharaoh’s.
So Joseph established a law that a fifth of the produce belongs to Pharaoh, and it is in effect in the land of Egypt to this day. Only the priests’ land does not belong to Pharaoh.
And the LORD shall
sever between the cattle of Israel and the cattle of Egypt: and there shall nothing die of all that is the children’s of Israel.
But the LORD will make a distinction between the
livestock of Israel and the
livestock of Egypt, so that no animal
belonging to the Israelites will die.’”
And the LORD did that thing on the
morrow, and all the cattle of Egypt died: but of the cattle of the children of Israel died not one.
And the next day the LORD did just that. All the
livestock of the Egyptians died, but not one animal
belonging to the Israelites died.
That thou shalt set apart unto the LORD all that openeth the
matrix, and every
firstling that cometh of a beast which thou hast; the males shall be the LORD’S.
Thou shalt not
covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not
covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his
manservant, nor his
maidservant, nor his ox, nor his
ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.
If his master have given him a wife, and she have born him sons or daughters; the wife and her children shall be her master’s, and he shall go out by himself.
If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters, the woman and her children shall belong to her master, and only the man shall go free.
And it shall be Aaron’s and his sons’ by a statute for ever from the children of Israel: for it is an
heave offering: and it shall be an
heave offering from the children of Israel of the sacrifice of their peace offerings, even their
heave offering unto the LORD.
This will
belong to Aaron and his sons as a regular portion from the Israelites, for it is the
heave offering the Israelites will make to the LORD from their peace offerings.
And the holy garments of Aaron shall be his sons’ after him, to be
anointed therein, and to be consecrated in them.
The holy garments that
belong to Aaron will
belong to his sons after him, so they can be
anointed and ordained in them.
All that openeth the
matrix is mine; and every
firstling among thy cattle, whether ox or sheep, that is male.
The first offspring of every
womb belongs to Me, including all the
firstborn males among your
livestock, whether cattle or sheep.
And the
remnant of the meat offerings shall be Aaron’s and his sons’: it is a thing most holy of the offerings of the LORD made by fire.
The remainder of the grain offering shall belong to Aaron and his sons; it is a most holy part of the offerings made by fire to the LORD.
And that which is left of the meat offering shall be Aaron’s and his sons’: it is a thing most holy of the offerings of the LORD made by fire.
But the remainder of the grain offering shall belong to Aaron and his sons; it is a most holy part of the offerings made by fire to the LORD.
And the priest shall make an
atonement for him as touching his sin that he hath
sinned in one of these, and it shall be
forgiven him: and the
remnant shall be the priest’s, as a meat offering.
In this way the priest will make
atonement for him for any of these sins he has committed, and he will be
forgiven. The remainder will
belong to the priest, like the grain offering.”
As the sin offering is, so is the
trespass offering: there is one law for them: the priest that maketh
atonement therewith shall have it.
The guilt offering is like the sin offering; the same law applies to both. It
belongs to the priest who makes
atonement with it.
And the priest that offereth any man’s burnt offering, even the priest shall have to himself the skin of the burnt offering which he hath offered.
As for the priest who presents a burnt offering for
anyone, the hide of that offering
belongs to him.
And all the meat offering that is
baken in the
oven, and all that is dressed in the
fryingpan, and in the pan, shall be the priest’s that offereth it.
Likewise, every grain offering that is
baked in an
oven or
cooked in a pan or on a
griddle belongs to the priest who presents it,
And every meat offering, mingled with oil, and dry, shall all the sons of Aaron have, one as much as another.
and every grain offering, whether dry or mixed with oil, belongs equally to all the sons of Aaron.
And of it he shall offer one out of the whole
oblation for an
heave offering unto the LORD, and it shall be the priest’s that sprinkleth the blood of the peace offerings.
From the cakes he must present one portion of each offering as a contribution to the LORD. It belongs to the priest who sprinkles the blood of the peace offering.
But the soul that eateth of the flesh of the sacrifice of peace offerings, that
pertain unto the LORD, having his uncleanness upon him, even that soul shall be cut off from his people.
But if
anyone who is unclean eats meat from the peace offering that
belongs to the LORD, that person must be cut off from his people.
Moreover the soul that shall touch any unclean thing, as the uncleanness of man, or any unclean beast, or any
abominable unclean thing, and eat of the flesh of the sacrifice of peace offerings, which
pertain unto the LORD, even that soul shall be cut off from his people.
If one touches anything unclean, whether human uncleanness, an unclean animal, or any unclean,
detestable thing, and then eats any of the meat of the peace offering that
belongs to the LORD, that person must be cut off from his people.”
And the priest shall burn the fat upon the altar: but the breast shall be Aaron’s and his sons’.
The priest is to burn the fat on the altar, but the breast belongs to Aaron and his sons.
The
heave shoulder and the wave breast shall they bring with the offerings made by fire of the fat, to wave it for a wave offering before the LORD; and it shall be thine, and thy sons’ with thee, by a statute for ever; as the LORD hath commanded.
They are to bring the
thigh of the contribution and the breast of the wave offering, together with the fat portions of the offerings made by fire, to wave as a wave offering before the LORD. It will
belong permanently to you and your children, as the LORD has commanded.”
And he shall
slay the lamb in the place where he shall kill the sin offering and the burnt offering, in the holy place: for as the sin offering is the priest’s, so is the
trespass offering: it is most holy:
Then he is to slaughter the lamb in the sanctuary area where the sin offering and burnt offering are slaughtered. Like the sin offering, the guilt offering belongs to the priest; it is most holy.
And it shall be Aaron’s and his sons’; and they shall eat it in the holy place: for it is most holy unto him of the offerings of the LORD made by fire by a perpetual statute.
It
belongs to Aaron and his sons, who are to eat it in a holy place; for it is to him a most holy part of the offerings made by fire to the LORD—his portion
forever.”
And if a man purchase of the Levites, then the house that was sold, and the city of his possession, shall go out in the year of jubile: for the houses of the cities of the Levites are their possession among the children of Israel.
So whatever
belongs to the Levites may be redeemed—a house sold in a city they possess—and must be released in the
Jubilee, because the houses in the cities of the Levites are their possession among the Israelites.
And if he that
sanctified it will
redeem his house, then he shall add the fifth part of the money of thy
estimation unto it, and it shall be his.
But if he who consecrated his house redeems it, he must add a fifth to the
assessed value, and it will
belong to him.
And if he that
sanctified the field will in any wise
redeem it, then he shall add the fifth part of the money of thy
estimation unto it, and it shall be
assured to him.
And if the one who consecrated the field decides to
redeem it, he must add a fifth to the
assessed value, and it shall
belong to him.
In the year of the jubile the field shall return unto him of whom it was bought, even to him to whom the possession of the land did belong.
In the Year of
Jubilee the field shall return to the one from whom it was bought—the original owner of the land.
Only the
firstling of the beasts, which should be the LORD’S
firstling, no man shall
sanctify it; whether it be ox, or sheep: it is the LORD’S.
And all the
tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD’S: it is holy unto the LORD.
Thus any
tithe from the land, whether from the seed of the land or the fruit of the trees,
belongs to the LORD; it is holy to the LORD.
But thou shalt
appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of testimony, and over all the vessels thereof, and over all things that
belong to it: they shall bear the tabernacle, and all the vessels thereof; and they shall minister unto it, and shall
encamp round about the tabernacle.
Instead, you are to
appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of the Testimony, all its furnishings, and everything in it. They shall carry the tabernacle and all its articles, care for it, and camp around it.
And I, behold, I have taken the Levites from among the children of Israel instead of all the
firstborn that openeth the
matrix among the children of Israel: therefore the Levites shall be mine;
“Behold, I have taken the Levites from among the children of Israel in place of every
firstborn Israelite from the
womb. The Levites
belong to Me,
Take the Levites instead of all the
firstborn among the children of Israel, and the cattle of the Levites instead of their cattle; and the Levites shall be mine: I am the LORD.
“Take the Levites in place of all the
firstborn of Israel, and the
livestock of the Levites in place of their
livestock. The Levites
belong to Me; I am the LORD.
But if the man has no relative to whom
restitution can be made for the wrong, the
restitution belongs to the LORD and must be given to the priest along with the ram of
atonement, by which the
atonement is made for him.
And every offering of all the holy things of the children of Israel, which they bring unto the priest, shall be his.
Every sacred contribution the Israelites bring to the priest shall belong to him.
And every man’s
hallowed things shall be his:
whatsoever any man giveth the priest, it shall be his.
Each man’s sacred gifts are his own, but whatever he gives to the priest will belong to the priest.”
But unto the sons of
Kohath he gave none: because the service of the sanctuary
belonging unto them was that they should bear upon their shoulders.
But he did not give any to the Kohathites, since they were to carry on their shoulders the holy objects for which they were responsible.
Thus shalt thou separate the Levites from among the children of Israel: and the Levites shall be mine.
In this way you shall separate the Levites from the rest of the Israelites, and the Levites will belong to Me.
This is it that belongeth unto the Levites: from twenty and five years old and upward they shall go in to wait upon the service of the tabernacle of the congregation:
“This applies to the Levites: Men twenty-five years of age or older shall enter to perform the service in the work at the Tent of Meeting.
And he spake unto
Korah and unto all his company, saying, Even to
morrow the LORD will
shew who are his, and who is holy; and will cause him to come near unto him: even him whom he hath chosen will he cause to come near unto him.
Then he said to
Korah and all his followers, “
Tomorrow morning the LORD will
reveal who
belongs to Him and who is holy, and He will bring that person near to Himself. The one He chooses, He will bring near to Himself.
And he spake unto the congregation, saying, Depart, I pray you, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest ye be consumed in all their sins.
And he
warned the congregation, “Move away now from the tents of these wicked men. Do not touch anything that
belongs to them, or you will be swept away because of all their sins.”
But if the LORD make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and
swallow them up, with all that
appertain unto them, and they go down quick into the pit; then ye shall understand that these men have
provoked the LORD.
But if the LORD brings about something
unprecedented, and the earth opens its mouth and
swallows them and all that
belongs to them so that they go down alive into
Sheol, then you will know that these men have treated the LORD with contempt.”
And it shall come to pass, that the man’s rod, whom I shall choose, shall
blossom: and I will make to cease from me the murmurings of the children of Israel, whereby they
murmur against you.
The staff
belonging to the man I choose will
sprout, and I will rid Myself of the constant
grumbling of the Israelites against you.”
This shall be thine of the most holy things, reserved from the fire: every
oblation of theirs, every meat offering of theirs, and every sin offering of theirs, and every
trespass offering of theirs, which they shall render unto me, shall be most holy for thee and for thy sons.
A portion of the most holy offerings reserved from the fire will be yours. From all the offerings they render to Me as most holy offerings, whether grain offerings or sin offerings or guilt offerings, that part belongs to you and your sons.
And
whatsoever is first ripe in the land, which they shall bring unto the LORD, shall be thine; every one that is clean in thine house shall eat of it.
The firstfruits of everything in their land that they bring to the LORD will
belong to you. Every
ceremonially clean person in your household may eat them.
Every thing devoted in Israel shall be thine.
Every devoted thing in Israel belongs to you.
Every thing that openeth the
matrix in all flesh, which they bring unto the LORD, whether it be of men or beasts, shall be thine: nevertheless the
firstborn of man shalt thou surely
redeem, and the
firstling of unclean beasts shalt thou
redeem.
The
firstborn of every
womb, whether man or beast, that is offered to the LORD
belongs to you. But you must surely
redeem every
firstborn son and every
firstborn male of unclean animals.
And the flesh of them shall be thine, as the wave breast and as the right shoulder are thine.
And their meat
belongs to you, just as the breast and right
thigh of the wave offering
belong to you.
Then came the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of
Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of
Manasseh, of the families of
Manasseh the son of Joseph: and these are the names of his daughters; Mahlah,
Noah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah.
Now the daughters of Zelophehad son of Hepher, the son of
Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of
Manasseh,
belonged to the clans of
Manasseh son of Joseph. These were the names of his daughters: Mahlah,
Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah. They approached
And
levy a tribute unto the LORD of the men of war which went out to battle: one soul of five hundred, both of the persons, and of the
beeves, and of the
asses, and of the sheep:
Set aside a tribute for the LORD from what
belongs to the soldiers who went into battle: one out of every five hundred, whether persons, cattle,
donkeys, or sheep.
(Now the half that
pertained unto the congregation was three hundred thousand and thirty thousand and seven thousand and five hundred sheep,
this half belonged to the congregation: 337,500 sheep,
And the land be subdued before the LORD: then afterward ye shall return, and be guiltless before the LORD, and before Israel; and this land shall be your possession before the LORD.
then when the land is subdued before the LORD, you may return and be free of obligation to the LORD and to Israel. And this land will belong to you as a possession before the LORD.
Ye shall not respect persons in judgment; but ye shall hear the small as well as the great; ye shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is God’s: and the cause that is too hard for you, bring it unto me, and I will hear it.
Show no
partiality in judging; hear both small and great alike. Do not be
intimidated by
anyone, for judgment
belongs to God. And bring to me any case too difficult for you, and I will hear it.”
Namely,
Bezer in the wilderness, in the plain country, of the Reubenites; and
Ramoth in
Gilead, of the Gadites; and Golan in
Bashan, of the Manassites.
Bezer in the wilderness on the plateau
belonging to the Reubenites,
Ramoth in
Gilead belonging to the Gadites, or Golan in
Bashan belonging to the Manassites.
And they possessed his land, and the land of
Og king of
Bashan, two kings of the
Amorites, which were on this side Jordan toward the
sunrising;
They took possession of the land
belonging to Sihon and to
Og king of
Bashan—the two Amorite kings across the Jordan to the east—
Neither shalt thou desire thy neighbour’s wife, neither shalt thou
covet thy neighbour’s house, his field, or his
manservant, or his
maidservant, his ox, or his
ass, or any thing that is thy neighbour’s.
Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens is the LORD’S thy God, the earth also, with all that therein is.
Behold, to the LORD your God belong the heavens, even the highest heavens, and the earth and everything in it.
And what he did unto Dathan and
Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of
Reuben: how the earth opened her mouth, and
swallowed them up, and their households, and their tents, and all the substance that was in their possession, in the midst of all Israel:
and what He did in the midst of all the Israelites to Dathan and
Abiram, the sons of Eliab the Reubenite, when the earth opened its mouth and
swallowed them, their households, their tents, and every living thing that
belonged to them.
Ye shall not eat of any thing that dieth of itself: thou shalt give it unto the stranger that is in thy gates, that he may eat it; or thou mayest sell it unto an
alien: for thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God. Thou shalt not
seethe a
kid in his mother’s milk.
You are not to eat any
carcass; you may give it to the foreigner residing within your gates, and he may eat it, or you may sell it to a foreigner. For you are a holy people
belonging to the LORD your God. You must not
cook a young goat in its mother’s milk.
Thus shalt thou do unto all the cities which are very far off from thee, which are not of the cities of these nations.
This is how you are to treat all the cities that are far away from you and do not belong to the nations nearby.
But he shall acknowledge the son of the
hated for the
firstborn, by giving him a double portion of all that he hath: for he is the beginning of his strength; the right of the
firstborn is his.
Instead, he must acknowledge the
firstborn, the son of his unloved wife, by giving him a double portion of all that he has. For that son is the firstfruits of his father’s strength; the right of the
firstborn belongs to him.
The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.
The secret things
belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed
belong to us and to our children
forever, so that we may follow all the words of this law.
To me
belongeth vengeance, and recompence; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their
calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make
haste.
Vengeance is Mine; I will repay. In due time their foot will slip; for their day of
disaster is near, and their
doom is coming quickly.”
And that ye will save alive my father, and my mother, and my brethren, and my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death.
that you will
spare the lives of my father and mother, my brothers and sisters, and all who
belong to them, and that you will deliver us from death.”
And the young men that were
spies went in, and brought
Rahab, and her father, and her mother, and her brethren, and all that she had; and they brought out all her kindred, and left them without the camp of Israel.
So the young
spies went in and brought out
Rahab, her father and mother and brothers, and all who
belonged to her. They brought out her whole family and settled them outside the camp of Israel.
And Joshua saved
Rahab the
harlot alive, and her father’s household, and all that she had; and she dwelleth in Israel even unto this day; because she
hid the messengers, which Joshua sent to
spy out
Jericho.
And Joshua
spared Rahab the
prostitute, with her father’s household and all who
belonged to her, because she
hid the men Joshua had sent to
spy out
Jericho. So she has lived among the Israelites to this day.
And it shall be, that he that is taken with the
accursed thing shall be burnt with fire, he and all that he hath: because he hath
transgressed the covenant of the LORD, and because he hath wrought folly in Israel.
The one who is caught with the things devoted to destruction must be burned, along with all that
belongs to him, because he has
transgressed the covenant of the LORD and committed an
outrage in Israel.’”
Hebron therefore became the inheritance of
Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite unto this day, because that he wholly followed the LORD God of Israel.
Therefore
Hebron belongs to
Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite as an inheritance to this day, because he wholly followed the LORD, the God of Israel.
Because the daughters of
Manasseh had an inheritance among his sons: and the rest of
Manasseh’s sons had the land of
Gilead.
because the daughters of
Manasseh received an inheritance among his sons. And the land of
Gilead belonged to the rest of the sons of
Manasseh.
Now
Manasseh had the land of Tappuah: but Tappuah on the border of
Manasseh belonged to the children of Ephraim;
The region of Tappuah
belonged to
Manasseh, but Tappuah itself, on the border of
Manasseh,
belonged to Ephraim.
And the coast descended unto the river Kanah, southward of the river: these cities of Ephraim are among the cities of
Manasseh: the coast of
Manasseh also was on the north side of the river, and the outgoings of it were at the sea:
From there the border continued southward to the
Brook of Kanah. There were cities
belonging to Ephraim among the cities of
Manasseh, but the border of
Manasseh was on the north side of the
brook and ended at the Sea.
And there came an angel of the LORD, and sat under an oak which was in Ophrah, that
pertained unto
Joash the Abi-ezrite: and his son
Gideon threshed wheat by the winepress, to hide it from the Midianites.
Then the angel of the LORD came and sat down under the oak in Ophrah that
belonged to
Joash the Abiezrite, where his son
Gideon was
threshing wheat in a winepress to hide it from the Midianites.
Then it shall be, that
whatsoever cometh forth of the doors of my house to meet me, when I return in peace from the children of
Ammon, shall surely be the LORD’S, and I will offer it up for a burnt offering.
then whatever comes out the door of my house to
greet me on my
triumphant return from the
Ammonites will
belong to the LORD, and I will offer it up as a burnt offering.”
And they passed on and went their way; and the sun went down upon them when they were by Gibeah, which belongeth to Benjamin.
So they continued on their journey, and the sun set as they neared Gibeah in Benjamin.
And the
Levite, the husband of the woman that was slain, answered and said, I came into Gibeah that
belongeth to Benjamin, I and my
concubine, to
lodge.
So the
Levite, the husband of the murdered woman, answered: “I and my
concubine came to Gibeah in Benjamin to
spend the night.
And she went, and came, and
gleaned in the field after the reapers: and her
hap was to light on a part of the field
belonging unto Boaz, who was of the kindred of Elimelech.
So
Ruth departed and went out into the field and
gleaned after the harvesters. And she happened to come to the part of the field
belonging to Boaz, who was from the clan of Elimelech.
And he said unto the
kinsman,
Naomi, that is come again out of the country of Moab, selleth a
parcel of land, which was our brother Elimelech’s:
And he said to the
kinsman-
redeemer, “
Naomi, who has returned from the land of Moab, is selling the piece of land that
belonged to our brother Elimelech.
And Boaz said unto the elders, and unto all the people, Ye are witnesses this day, that I have bought all that was Elimelech’s, and all that was Chilion’s and Mahlon’s, of the hand of
Naomi.
At this, Boaz said to the elders and all the people, “You are witnesses
today that I am
buying from
Naomi all that
belonged to Elimelech, Chilion, and Mahlon.
And the golden
mice, according to the number of all the cities of the Philistines
belonging to the five lords, both of
fenced cities, and of country villages, even unto the great stone of
Abel,
whereon they set down the ark of the LORD: which stone remaineth unto this day in the field of Joshua, the Beth-
shemite.
The number of gold rats also corresponded to the number of
Philistine cities
belonging to the five rulers—the fortified cities and their outlying villages. And the large rock on which they placed the ark of the LORD stands to this day in the field of Joshua of Beth-shemesh.
Now go and
smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and
