Since the day that I brought forth my people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build an house, that my name might be therein; but I chose David to be over my people Israel.

If thy people go out to battle against their enemy,
whithersoever thou shalt send them, and shall pray unto the LORD toward the city which thou hast
chosen, and toward the house that I have built for thy name:
When Your people go to war against their enemies, wherever You send them, and when they pray to the LORD in the direction of the city You have chosen and the house I have built for Your Name,
And so return unto thee with all their heart, and with all their soul, in the land of their enemies, which led them away
captive, and pray unto thee toward their land, which thou gavest unto their fathers, the city which thou hast
chosen, and the house which I have built for thy name:
and when they return to You with all their heart and soul in the land of the enemies who took them
captive, and when they pray to You in the direction of the land that You gave to their fathers, the city You have
chosen, and the house I have built for Your Name,
Howbeit I will not
rend away all the kingdom; but will give one tribe to thy son for David my servant’s sake, and for Jerusalem’s sake which I have
chosen.

tear the whole kingdom away from him. I will give one tribe to your son for the sake of My servant David and for the sake of Jerusalem, which I have
chosen.”

chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will establish My Name
forever.
And the LORD said, I will remove Judah also out of my sight, as I have removed Israel, and will cast off this city Jerusalem which I have chosen, and the house of which I said, My name shall be there.

forever.”

chosen Judah to be the ruler; and of the house of Judah, the house of my father; and among the sons of my father he liked me to make me king over all Israel:
Yet the LORD, the God of Israel, chose me out of all my father’s house to be king over Israel
forever. For He chose Judah as leader, and from the house of Judah He chose my father’s household, and from my father’s sons He was pleased to make me king over all Israel.
And of all my sons, (for the LORD hath given me many sons,) he hath chosen Solomon my son to sit upon the throne of the kingdom of the LORD over Israel.

heed now; for the LORD hath
chosen thee to build an house for the sanctuary: be strong, and do it.
Consider now that the LORD has chosen you to build a house for the sanctuary. Be strong and do it.”

Since the day that I brought forth my people out of the land of Egypt I chose no city among all the tribes of Israel to build an house in, that my name might be there; neither chose I any man to be a ruler over my people Israel:
‘Since the day I brought My people out of the land of Egypt, I have not
chosen a city from any tribe of Israel in which to build a house so that My Name would be there, nor have I
chosen anyone to be ruler over My people Israel.
But I have chosen Jerusalem, that my name might be there; and have chosen David to be over my people Israel.
But now I have chosen Jerusalem for My Name to be there, and I have chosen David to be over My people Israel.’
If thy people go out to war against their enemies by the way that thou shalt send them, and they pray unto thee toward this city which thou hast chosen, and the house which I have built for thy name;
When Your people go to war against their enemies, wherever You send them, and when they pray to You in the direction of the city You have chosen and the house I have built for Your Name,
If they return to thee with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their captivity,
whither they have carried them
captives, and pray toward their land, which thou gavest unto their fathers, and toward the city which thou hast
chosen, and toward the house which I have built for thy name:
and when they return to You with all their heart and soul in the land of the enemies who took them
captive, and when they pray in the direction of the land that You gave to their fathers, the city You have
chosen, and the house I have built for Your Name,

For now have I
chosen and

For I have now
chosen and consecrated this temple so that My Name may be there
forever. My eyes and My heart will be there for all time.

chosen men, which were warriors, to fight against Israel, that he might bring the kingdom again to

mobilized the house of Judah and Benjamin—180,000
chosen warriors—to fight against Israel and restore the kingdom to
Rehoboam.

Rehoboam was one and forty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD had
chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. And his mother’s name was Naamah an Ammonitess.

chosen men, while
Jeroboam drew up in formation against him with 800,000
chosen and mighty men of
valor.
And
Abijah and his people

chosen men.

chosen men of Israel fell slain.

spear and shield.
Then
Amaziah gathered the people of Judah and assigned them according to their families to commanders of thousands and of hundreds. And he numbered those twenty years of age or older throughout Judah and Benjamin and found 300,000
chosen men able to serve in the army, bearing the
spear and shield.
My sons, be not now
negligent: for the LORD hath
chosen you to stand before him, to serve him, and that ye should minister unto him, and burn incense.
Now, my sons, do not be
negligent, for the LORD has
chosen you to stand before Him, to serve Him, to minister before Him, and to burn incense.”
And he set a carved image, the
idol which he had made, in the house of God, of which God had said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have
chosen before all the tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever:
Manasseh even took the carved image he had made and set it up in the house of God, of which God had said to David and his son Solomon, “In this temple and in Jerusalem, which I have
chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will establish My Name
forever.
But if ye turn unto me, and keep my commandments, and do them; though there were of you cast out unto the
uttermost part of the heaven, yet will I gather them from thence, and will bring them unto the place that I have
chosen to set my name there.
but if you return to Me and keep and practice My commandments, then even if your exiles have been banished to the
farthest horizon, I will gather them from there and bring them to the place I have
chosen as a dwelling for My Name.’
Take
heed, regard not iniquity: for this hast thou
chosen rather than
affliction.
Be careful not to turn to iniquity, for this you have preferred to
affliction.
The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.
The LORD is my chosen portion and my cup; You have made my lot secure.
What man is he that feareth the LORD? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.
Who is the man who fears the LORD? He will
instruct him in the path
chosen for him.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD: and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people He has chosen as His inheritance!
The wrath of God came upon them, and
slew the fattest of them, and
smote down the
chosen men of Israel.
God’s anger
flared against them, and He put to death their strongest and subdued the young men of Israel.
I have made a covenant with my
chosen, I have
sworn unto David my servant,
You said, “I have made a covenant with My
chosen one, I have
sworn to David My servant:
Then thou spakest in vision to thy holy one, and saidst, I have laid help upon one that is mighty; I have
exalted one
chosen out of the people.
You once spoke in a vision; to Your godly ones You said, “I have bestowed help on a
warrior; I have
exalted one
chosen from the people.
O ye seed of Abraham his servant, ye children of Jacob his chosen.
O offspring of His servant Abraham, O sons of Jacob, His chosen ones.
He sent Moses his servant; and Aaron whom he had chosen.
He sent Moses His servant, and Aaron, whom He had chosen.
And he brought forth his people with joy, and his
chosen with
gladness:
He brought forth His people with
rejoicing, His
chosen with shouts of joy.
That I may see the good of thy
chosen, that I may
rejoice in the
gladness of thy nation, that I may glory with thine inheritance.
that I may see the prosperity of Your
chosen ones, and
rejoice in the
gladness of Your nation, and give glory with Your inheritance.
Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them.
So He said He would destroy them— had not Moses His
chosen one stood before Him in the breach to
divert His wrath from destroying them.
I have chosen the way of truth: thy judgments have I laid before me.
I have chosen the way of truth; I have set Your ordinances before me.
Let thine hand help me; for I have chosen thy precepts.
May Your hand be ready to help me, for I have chosen Your precepts.
For the LORD has
chosen Zion; He has desired it for His home:
For the LORD hath
chosen Jacob unto himself, and Israel for his peculiar
treasure.
For the LORD has
chosen Jacob as His own, Israel as His
treasured possession.
How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!
How much better to acquire wisdom than gold! To gain understanding is more desirable than silver.
A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.
A good name is more desirable than great riches; favor is better than silver and gold.
For they shall be
ashamed of the oaks which ye have desired, and ye shall be confounded for the gardens that ye have
chosen.
Surely you will be
ashamed of the sacred oaks in which you have delighted; you will be
embarrassed by the gardens that you have
chosen.
But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend.
“But you, O Israel, My servant, Jacob, whom I have
chosen,
descendant of Abraham My friend—
Thou whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called thee from the chief men thereof, and said unto thee, Thou art my servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away.
I brought you from the ends of the earth and called you from its
farthest corners. I said, ‘You are My servant.’ I have
chosen and not rejected you.
Behold my servant, whom I
uphold; mine
elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.
“Here is My Servant, whom I
uphold, My
Chosen One, in whom My soul delights. I will put My Spirit on Him, and He will bring justice to the nations.
Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.
“You are My witnesses,” declares the LORD, “and My servant whom I have chosen, so that you may consider and believe Me and understand that I am He. Before Me no god was formed, and after Me none will come.
The beast of the field shall honour me, the
dragons and the owls: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my
chosen.
The beasts of the field will honor Me, the jackals and the ostriches, because I provide water in the wilderness and rivers in the desert, to give drink to My chosen people.
Yet now hear, O Jacob my servant; and Israel, whom I have chosen:
But now
listen, O Jacob My servant, Israel, whom I have
chosen.
Thus saith the LORD that made thee, and formed thee from the
womb, which will help thee; Fear not, O Jacob, my servant; and thou, Jesurun, whom I have
chosen.
This is the word of the LORD, your Maker, who formed you from the
womb and who will help you: “Do not be afraid, O Jacob My servant,
Jeshurun, whom I have
chosen.
For Jacob my servant’s sake, and Israel mine
elect, I have even called thee by thy name: I have
surnamed thee, though thou hast not known me.
For the sake of Jacob My servant and Israel My chosen one, I call you by name; I have given you a title of honor, though you have not known Me.
Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have
chosen thee in the furnace of
affliction.
See, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of
affliction.
All ye,
assemble yourselves, and hear; which among them hath declared these things? The LORD hath loved him: he will do his pleasure on Babylon, and his arm shall be on the Chaldeans.
Come together, all of you, and
listen: Which of the idols has
foretold these things? The LORD’s
chosen ally will carry out His desire against Babylon, and His arm will be against the Chaldeans.
Thus saith the LORD, the
Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to him whom man despiseth, to him whom the nation abhorreth, to a servant of rulers, Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the LORD that is faithful, and the Holy One of Israel, and he shall choose thee.
Thus says the LORD, the
Redeemer and Holy One of Israel, to Him who was
despised and
abhorred by the nation, to the Servant of rulers: “Kings will see You and rise, and princes will bow down, because of the LORD, who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel, who has
chosen You.”
Is it such a fast that I have
chosen? a day for a man to
afflict his soul? is it to bow down his head as a
bulrush, and to spread
sackcloth and ashes under him?
wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD?
Is this the fast I have
chosen: a day for a man to deny himself, to bow his head like a reed, and to spread out
sackcloth and ashes? Will you call this a fast and a day acceptable to the LORD?
Is not this the fast that I have
chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to
undo the heavy burdens, and to let the
oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?
Isn’t this the fast that I have
chosen: to break the chains of wickedness, to
untie the cords of the yoke, to set the
oppressed free and
tear off every yoke?
And ye shall leave your name for a
curse unto my
chosen: for the Lord GOD shall
slay thee, and call his servants by another name:
You will leave behind your name as a
curse for My
chosen ones, and the Lord GOD will
slay you; but to His servants He will give another name.
They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the days of my people, and mine
elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands.
No longer will they build houses for others to inhabit, nor plant for others to eat. For as is the lifetime of a tree, so will be the days of My people, and My chosen ones will fully enjoy the work of their hands.
