elders of these Jews for the building of this house of God: that of the king’s goods, even of the tribute beyond the river,
forthwith expenses be given unto these men, that they be not hindered.

hereby decree what you must do for these
elders of the Jews who are rebuilding this house of God: The cost is to be paid in full to these men from the royal treasury out of the taxes of the provinces west of the Euphrates, so that the work will not be hindered.

elders of the Jews builded, and they
prospered through the

And that
whosoever would not come within three days, according to the counsel of the princes and the
elders, all his substance should be
forfeited, and himself separated from the congregation of those that had been carried away.
Whoever failed to appear within three days would
forfeit all his property, according to the counsel of the leaders and
elders, and would himself be expelled from the assembly of the exiles.
Let now our rulers of all the congregation stand, and let all them which have taken strange wives in our cities come at appointed times, and with them the elders of every city, and the judges thereof, until the fierce wrath of our God for this matter be turned from us.

elders and judges of each town, until the fierce anger of our God in this matter is turned away from us.”

deceived me: my priests and mine
elders gave up the ghost in the city, while they sought their meat to

betrayed me. My priests and

And it came to pass on the
morrow, that their rulers, and
elders, and
scribes,
The next day the rulers,
elders, and
scribes assembled in Jerusalem,
Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,
Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers and elders of the people!

Barnabas and Saul.
This they did, sending their gifts to the
elders with
Barnabas and Saul.
And when they had ordained them
elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they
commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed.
Paul and
Barnabas appointed
elders for them in each church, praying and fasting as they entrusted them to the Lord, in whom they had believed.
When therefore Paul and
Barnabas had no small
dissension and
disputation with them, they determined that Paul and
Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and
elders about this question.
And after
engaging these men in sharp

doth bear me witness, and all the estate of the
elders: from whom also I received letters unto the brethren, and went to Damascus, to bring them which were there bound unto Jerusalem, for to be punished.
as the high priest and the whole Council can
testify about me. I even obtained letters from them to their brothers in Damascus, and I was on my way to
apprehend these people and bring them to Jerusalem to be punished.
And they came to the chief priests and
elders, and said, We have bound ourselves under a great
curse, that we will eat nothing until we have slain Paul.

elders and a
lawyer named Tertullus, who presented to the governor their case against Paul.
About whom, when I was at Jerusalem, the chief priests and the elders of the Jews informed me, desiring to have judgment against him.
While I was in Jerusalem, the chief priests and elders of the Jews presented their case and requested a judgment against him.
Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the
presbytery.
Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given you through the prophecy spoken over you at the laying on of the hands of the elders.
Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.
Elders who lead effectively are worthy of double honor, especially those who work hard at preaching and teaching.
For this cause left I thee in
Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and
ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:
The reason I left you in
Crete was that you would set in order what was unfinished and
appoint elders in every town, as I directed you.
For by it the elders obtained a good report.
Is any sick among you? let him call for the
elders of the church; and let them pray over him,
anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
Is any one of you sick? He should call the
elders of the church to pray over him and
anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord.
The
elders which are among you I
exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a
partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:
As a fellow elder, a witness of Christ’s sufferings, and a
partaker of the glory to be revealed, I appeal to the
elders among you:
Likewise, ye younger, submit
yourselves unto the elder.
Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with
humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
Young men, in the same way, submit
yourselves to your
elders. And all of you,
clothe yourselves with
humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”
And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty
elders sitting, clothed in white
raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.
Surrounding the throne were twenty-four other thrones, and on these thrones sat twenty-four elders dressed in white, with golden crowns on their heads.
The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying,
the twenty-four
elders fall down before the One seated on the throne, and they worship Him who lives
forever and ever. They cast their crowns before the throne, saying:
And one of the
elders saith unto me,
Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.
Then one of the
elders said to me, “Do not
weep! Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed to open the
scroll and its seven seals.”
And I
beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the
elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.
Then I saw a Lamb who appeared to have been slain, standing in the center of the throne,
encircled by the four living creatures and the
elders. The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes, which represent the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth.
And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.
When He had taken the
scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four
elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a
harp, and they were holding golden
bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.
And I
beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the
elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands;
Then I looked, and I heard the voices of many angels and living creatures and
elders encircling the throne, and their number was myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands.
And the four beasts said,
Amen. And the four and twenty
elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever.
And the four living creatures said, “
Amen,” and the
elders fell down and worshiped.
And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God,
And all the angels stood around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. And they fell facedown before the throne and worshiped God,
And one of the
elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are
arrayed in white robes? and whence came they?
Then one of the elders addressed me: “These in white robes,” he asked, “who are they, and where have they come from?”
And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God,
And the twenty-four elders who sit on their thrones before God fell on their faces and worshiped God,
And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.
And they
sang a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the
elders. And no one could learn the song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth.
And the four and twenty
elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying,
Amen;
Alleluia.
And the twenty-four
elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God who sits on the throne, saying: “
Amen,
Hallelujah!”
Nevertheless the elders of the Jews obtained favour, because the Lord had visited the captivity;
Then asked we these elders, saying, By whose commandment build ye this house, and lay the foundations of these works?
And also he commanded that Sisinnes the governor of Syria and Phenice, and Sathrabuzanes, and their companions, and those which were appointed rulers in Syria and Phenice, should be careful not to
meddle with the place, but suffer Zorobabel, the servant of the Lord, and governor of
Judea, and the
elders of the Jews, to build the house of the Lord in that place.
And that
whosoever met not there within two or three days according as the
elders that bare rule appointed, their cattle should be seized to the use of the temple, and himself cast out from them that were of the captivity.
