The multitude of camels shall cover thee, the
dromedaries of
Midian and
Ephah; all they from
Sheba shall come: they shall bring gold and incense; and they shall
shew forth the praises of the LORD.
He that killeth an ox is as if he
slew a man; he that sacrificeth a lamb, as if he cut off a dog’s neck; he that offereth an
oblation, as if he offered
swine’s blood; he that burneth incense, as if he blessed an
idol.
Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations.
Whoever slaughters an ox is like one who slays a man;
whoever sacrifices a lamb is like one who breaks a dog’s neck;
whoever presents a grain offering is like one who offers pig’s blood;
whoever offers
frankincense is like one who blesses an
idol. Indeed, they have chosen their own ways and delighted in their abominations.
To what purpose cometh there to me incense from
Sheba, and the sweet cane from a far country? your burnt offerings are not acceptable, nor your sacrifices sweet unto me.
What use to Me is
frankincense from
Sheba or sweet cane from a distant land? Your burnt offerings are not acceptable; your sacrifices do not please Me.”
And the carcases of this people shall be meat for the fowls of the heaven, and for the beasts of the earth; and none shall
fray them away.
The corpses of this people will become food for the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth, and there will be no one to
scare them away.
Every man is
brutish in his knowledge: every founder is confounded by the
graven image: for his
molten image is
falsehood, and there is no breath in them.
Every man is senseless and devoid of knowledge; every
goldsmith is put to shame by his idols. For his
molten images are a
fraud, and there is no breath in them.
And they shall come from the cities of Judah, and from the places about Jerusalem, and from the land of Benjamin, and from the plain, and from the mountains, and from the south, bringing burnt offerings, and sacrifices, and meat offerings, and incense, and bringing sacrifices of praise, unto the house of the LORD.
And people will come from the cities of Judah and the places around Jerusalem, from the land of Benjamin, and from the foothills, the hill country, and the Negev, bringing burnt offerings and sacrifices, grain offerings and
frankincense, and
thank offerings to the house of the LORD.
Now therefore go to, speak to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I
frame evil against you, and
devise a
device against you: return ye now every one from his evil way, and make your ways and your doings good.
Now therefore, tell the men of Judah and the residents of Jerusalem that this is what the LORD says: ‘Behold, I am
planning a
disaster for you and
devising a plan against you. Turn now, each of you, from your evil ways, and correct your ways and deeds.’
That there came certain from
Shechem, from
Shiloh, and from Samaria, even
fourscore men, having their beards
shaven, and their clothes rent, and having cut themselves, with offerings and incense in their hand, to bring them to the house of the LORD.
eighty men who had
shaved off their beards,
torn their garments, and cut themselves came from
Shechem,
Shiloh, and Samaria, carrying grain offerings and
frankincense for the house of the LORD.
Every man is

Every man is senseless and devoid of knowledge; every

Then shall ye know that I am the LORD, when their slain men shall be among their idols round about their altars, upon every high hill, in all the tops of the mountains, and under every green tree, and under every thick oak, the place where they did offer sweet savour to all their idols.
Then you will know that I am the LORD, when their slain lie among their idols around their altars, on every high hill, on all the mountaintops, and under every green tree and
leafy oak—the places where they offered
fragrant incense to all their idols.
And there stood before them seventy men of the ancients of the house of Israel, and in the midst of them stood Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan, with every man his
censer in his hand; and a thick cloud of incense went up.
Before them stood seventy elders of the house of Israel, with Jaazaniah son of Shaphan standing among them. Each had a
censer in his hand, and a
fragrant cloud of incense was rising.
For when I had brought them into the land, for the which I lifted up mine hand to give it to them, then they saw every high hill, and all the thick trees, and they offered there their sacrifices, and there they presented the
provocation of their offering: there also they made their sweet savour, and poured out there their drink offerings.
When I brought them into the land that I
swore to give them and they saw any high hill or
leafy tree, there they offered their sacrifices, presented offerings that
provoked Me, sent up their
fragrant incense, and poured out their drink offerings.
In the visions of God brought he me into the land of Israel, and set me upon a very high mountain, by which was as the frame of a city on the south.
In visions of God He took me to the land of Israel and set me on a very high mountain, on whose southern slope was a structure that resembled a city.
But if ye will not make known unto me the dream, there is but one decree for you: for ye have prepared lying and corrupt words to speak before me, till the time be changed: therefore tell me the dream, and I shall know that ye can
shew me the interpretation thereof.
If you do not tell me the dream, there is only one decree for you. You have
conspired to speak before me false and
fraudulent words, hoping the situation will change. Therefore tell me the dream, and I will know that you can give me its interpretation.”
They will not frame their doings to turn unto their God: for the spirit of whoredoms is in the midst of them, and they have not known the LORD.
Their deeds do not permit them to return to their God, for a spirit of
prostitution is within them, and they do not know the LORD.
His branches shall spread, and his beauty shall be as the olive tree, and his smell as
Lebanon.
Then said I, What come these to do? And he spake, saying, These are the horns which have scattered Judah, so that no man did lift up his head: but these are come to
fray them, to cast out the horns of the Gentiles, which lifted up their horn over the land of Judah to
scatter it.
“What are these coming to do?” I asked. And He replied, “These are the horns that scattered Judah so that no one could raise his head; but the
craftsmen have come to
terrify them and throw down these horns of the nations that have lifted up their horns against the land of Judah to
scatter it.”
And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and
frankincense, and
myrrh.
On coming to the house, they saw the Child with His mother Mary, and they fell down and worshiped Him. Then they opened their treasures and presented Him with gifts of gold and
frankincense and
myrrh.
And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.
They all
ate and were satisfied, and the disciples
picked up twelve
basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.
And they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments, and of the fishes.
and the disciples
picked up twelve
basketfuls of broken pieces of bread and fish.
When I
brake the five
loaves among five thousand, how many baskets full of
fragments took ye up? They say unto him, Twelve.
When I broke the five
loaves for the five thousand, how many
basketfuls of broken pieces did you collect?” “Twelve,” they answered.
And when the seven among four thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? And they said, Seven.
“And when I broke the seven
loaves for the four thousand, how many
basketfuls of broken pieces did you collect?” “Seven,” they said.
And he spake that saying openly. And Peter took him, and began to
rebuke him.
He spoke this message quite
frankly, and Peter took Him aside and began to
rebuke Him.
And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a
farthing.
Then one poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which amounted to a small
fraction of a
denarius.
And when they had nothing to pay, he
frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?
When they were unable to repay him, he
forgave both of them. Which one, then, will love him more?”
And they did eat, and were all filled: and there was taken up of fragments that remained to them twelve baskets.
They all
ate and were satisfied, and the disciples
picked up twelve
basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.
When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.
And when
everyone was full, He said to His disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over, so that nothing will be wasted.”
Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the
fragments of the five barley
loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.
So they collected them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley
loaves left over by those who had eaten.
Now
thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.
To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?
To the one, we are an
odor of death and
demise; to the other, a
fragrance that brings life. And who is qualified for such a task?
In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
In Him the whole building is fitted together and grows into a holy temple in the Lord.
And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
and walk in love, just as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us as a
fragrant sacrificial offering to God.
But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God.
I have all I need and more, now that I have received your gifts from Epaphroditus. They are a
fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, well-pleasing to God.
Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.
Behold, the
hire of the labourers who have
reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by
fraud, crieth: and the
cries of them which have
reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of
sabaoth.
Look, the wages you
withheld from the workmen who
mowed your fields are crying out against you. The
cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of Hosts.
And
cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and
frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and
chariots, and slaves, and souls of men.
of
cinnamon,
spice, incense,
myrrh, and
frankincense; of wine, olive oil, fine flour, and wheat; of cattle, sheep, horses, and
chariots; of slaves and souls of men.
Be not as a lion in thy house, nor frantick among thy servants.
Whoso casteth a stone at the birds
frayeth them away: and he that upbraideth his friend breaketh friendship.
And give ye a sweet savour as
frankincense, and
flourish as a
lily, send forth a smell, and sing a song of praise,
bless the Lord in all his works.
And as the flower of roses in the spring of the year, as
lilies by the rivers of waters, and as the branches of the
frankincense tree in the time of summer:
For every man sat under his vine and his fig tree, and there was none to
fray them:
For as it is
hurtful to drink wine or water alone; and as wine mingled with water is pleasant, and delighteth the taste: even so speech finely
framed delighteth the ears of them that read the story. And here shall be an end.
