teemed according to their kinds, and every bird of flight after its kind. And God saw that it was good.

sprouted; for the LORD God had not yet sent rain upon the earth, and there was no man to

disaster will overtake me, and I will die.

peeled the bark,
exposing the white inner wood of the branches.
It is in the power of my hand to do you
hurt: but the God of your father spake unto me

heed that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad.

great harm, but last night the God of your father said to me, ‘Be careful not to say anything to Jacob, either good or bad.’

There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?
No one in this house is
greater than I am. He has
withheld nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. So how could I do such a
great evil and sin against God?”
Behold, there come seven years of
great plenty throughout all the land of Egypt:
Behold, seven years of great abundance are coming throughout the land of Egypt,
Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou.
You shall be in charge of my house, and all my people are to obey your commands. Only with regard to the throne will I be greater than you.”

And Israel dwelt in the land of Egypt, in the country of

greatly in number.
And his father refused, and said, I know it, my son, I know it: he also shall become a people, and he also shall be great: but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a multitude of nations.

mourned with a
great and very
sore lamentation: and he made a
mourning for his father seven days.

threshing floor of Atad, which is across the Jordan, they
lamented and
wailed loudly, and Joseph
mourned for his father seven days.
But the more they
afflicted them, the more they multiplied and
grew. And they were
grieved because of the children of Israel.
But the more they were
oppressed, the more they multiplied and flourished; so the Egyptians came to
dread the Israelites.
And the child grew, and she brought him unto Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son. And she called his name Moses: and she said, Because I drew him out of the water.

bondage, and I will
redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with
great judgments:
Therefore tell the Israelites: ‘I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians and deliver you from their
bondage. I will
redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment.
But Pharaoh shall not
hearken unto you, that I may lay my hand upon Egypt, and bring forth mine armies, and my people the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by
great judgments.
Pharaoh will not
listen to you. Then I will lay My hand on Egypt, and by mighty acts of judgment I will bring the divisions of My people the Israelites out of the land of Egypt.
For they covered the face of the whole earth, so that the land was
darkened; and they did eat every
herb of the land, and all the fruit of the trees which the
hail had left: and there remained not any
green thing in the trees, or in the herbs of the field, through all the land of Egypt.
They covered the face of all the land until it was black, and they consumed all the plants on the ground and all the fruit on the trees that the
hail had left behind. Nothing
green was left on any tree or plant in all the land of Egypt.
And the LORD gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh’s servants, and in the sight of the people.

And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it any more.
Then a great cry will go out over all the land of Egypt. Such an outcry has never been heard before and will never be heard again.
And all these thy servants shall come down unto me, and bow down themselves unto me, saying, Get thee out, and all the people that follow thee: and after that I will go out. And he went out from Pharaoh in a great anger.
And all these officials of yours will come and bow before me, saying, ‘Go, you and all the people who follow you!’ After that, I will depart.” And hot with anger, Moses left Pharaoh’s presence.
And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead.

wailing in Egypt; for there was no house without someone dead.
And a mixed multitude went up also with them; and flocks, and herds, even very much cattle.
And a mixed multitude also went up with them, along with
great droves of
livestock, both flocks and herds.

And in the
greatness of thine
excellency thou hast overthrown them that rose up against thee: thou sentest forth thy wrath, which consumed them as
stubble.
You overthrew Your
adversaries by Your
great majesty. You unleashed Your burning wrath; it consumed them like
stubble.
Fear and
dread shall fall upon them; by the
greatness of thine arm they shall be as still as a stone; till thy people pass over, O LORD, till the people pass over, which thou hast purchased.
and terror and
dread will fall on them. By the power of Your arm they will be as still as a stone until Your people pass by, O LORD, until the people You have bought pass by.
And they gathered it every morning, every man according to his eating: and when the sun waxed hot, it melted.
Every morning each one gathered as much as was needed, and when the sun grew hot, it melted away.
But Moses’ hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat
thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.
When Moses’ hands grew heavy, they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. Then Aaron and Hur held his hands up, one on each side, so that his hands remained steady until the sun went down.
And Moses went out to meet his father in law, and did
obeisance, and
kissed him; and they asked each other of their
welfare; and they came into the tent.

greeted each other and went into the tent.
Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods: for in the thing wherein they dealt proudly he was above them.
Now I know that the LORD is
greater than all other gods, for He did this when they treated Israel with
arrogance.”
And let them judge the people at all seasons: and it shall be, that every
great matter they shall bring unto thee, but every small matter they shall judge: so shall it be easier for
thyself, and they shall bear the burden with thee.
Have these men judge the people at all times. Then they can bring you any major issue, but all minor cases they can judge on their own, so that your load may be
lightened as they share it with you.
And mount
Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount
quaked greatly.
Mount
Sinai was completely
enveloped in smoke, because the LORD had descended on it in fire. And the smoke rose like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain
quaked violently.
And when the voice of the
trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice.
And as the sound of the ram’s horn
grew louder and louder, Moses spoke and God answered him in the
thunder.
Then shalt thou kill the ram, and take of his blood, and put it upon the
tip of the right ear of Aaron, and upon the
tip of the right ear of his sons, and upon the
thumb of their right hand, and upon the
great toe of their right foot, and
sprinkle the blood upon the altar round about.
Slaughter the ram, take some of its blood, and put it on the right earlobes of Aaron and his sons, on the thumbs of their right hands, and on the
big toes of their right feet.
Sprinkle the remaining blood on all sides of the altar.
Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may
consume them: and I will make of thee a
great nation.
Now leave Me alone, so that My anger may burn against them and
consume them. Then I will make you into a
great nation.”
And Moses
besought the LORD his God, and said, LORD, why
doth thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with
great power, and with a mighty hand?
But Moses sought the favor of the LORD his God, saying, “O LORD, why does Your anger burn against Your people, whom You brought out of the land of Egypt with great power and a mighty hand?
And Moses said unto Aaron, What did this people unto thee, that thou hast brought so great a sin upon them?
“What did this people do to you,” Moses asked Aaron, “that you have led them into so great a sin?”
And it came to pass on the
morrow, that Moses said unto the people, Ye have
sinned a
great sin: and now I will go up unto the LORD;
peradventure I shall make an
atonement for your sin.
The next day Moses said to the people, “You have committed a
great sin. Now I will go up to the LORD; perhaps I can make
atonement for your sin.”
And Moses returned unto the LORD, and said, Oh, this people have
sinned a
great sin, and have made them gods of gold.
So Moses returned to the LORD and said, “Oh, what a great sin these people have committed! They have made gods of gold for themselves.
And if thou offer a meat offering of thy firstfruits unto the LORD, thou shalt offer for the meat offering of thy firstfruits green ears of corn dried by the fire, even corn beaten out of full ears.
If you bring a grain offering of firstfruits to the LORD, you shall offer
crushed heads of new grain
roasted on the fire.
And he
slew it; and Moses took of the blood of it, and put it upon the
tip of Aaron’s right ear, and upon the
thumb of his right hand, and upon the
great toe of his right foot.
Moses slaughtered the ram and took some of its blood and put it on Aaron’s right earlobe, on the
thumb of his right hand, and on the
big toe of his right foot.
And he brought Aaron’s sons, and Moses put of the blood upon the
tip of their right ear, and upon the thumbs of their right hands, and upon the
great toes of their right feet: and Moses
sprinkled the blood upon the altar round about.
Moses also presented Aaron’s sons and put some of the blood on their right earlobes, on the thumbs of their right hands, and on the
big toes of their right feet. Then he
sprinkled the blood on all sides of the altar.
The following creatures that move along the ground are unclean for you: the
mole, the
mouse, any kind of
great lizard,
And if the plague be
greenish or reddish in the garment, or in the skin, either in the
warp, or in the
woof, or in any thing of skin; it is a plague of
leprosy, and shall be shewed unto the priest:
And the priest shall take some of the blood of the
trespass offering, and the priest shall put it upon the
tip of the right ear of him that is to be
cleansed, and upon the
thumb of his right hand, and upon the
great toe of his right foot:
The priest is to take some of the blood from the guilt offering and put it on the right earlobe of the one to be
cleansed, on the
thumb of his right hand, and on the
big toe of his right foot.
And of the rest of the oil that is in his hand shall the priest put upon the
tip of the right ear of him that is to be
cleansed, and upon the
thumb of his right hand, and upon the
great toe of his right foot, upon the blood of the
trespass offering:
And the priest is to put some of the oil remaining in his palm on the right earlobe of the one to be
cleansed, on the
thumb of his right hand, and on the
big toe of his right foot, on top of the blood of the guilt offering.
And he shall kill the lamb of the
trespass offering, and the priest shall take some of the blood of the
trespass offering, and put it upon the
tip of the right ear of him that is to be
cleansed, and upon the
thumb of his right hand, and upon the
great toe of his right foot:
And after he slaughters the lamb for the guilt offering, the priest is to take some of the blood of the guilt offering and put it on the right earlobe of the one to be
cleansed, on the
thumb of his right hand, and on the
big toe of his right foot.
And the priest shall put of the oil that is in his hand upon the
tip of the right ear of him that is to be
cleansed, and upon the
thumb of his right hand, and upon the
great toe of his right foot, upon the place of the blood of the
trespass offering:
The priest shall also put some of the oil in his palm on the right earlobe of the one to be
cleansed, on the
thumb of his right hand, and on the
big toe of his right foot—on the same places as the blood of the guilt offering.
And he shall look on the plague, and, behold, if the plague be in the walls of the house with hollow strakes,
greenish or reddish, which in sight are lower than the wall;
He is to examine the house, and if the
mildew on the walls consists of
green or red depressions that appear to be beneath the surface of the wall,
And ye shall eat neither bread, nor
parched corn, nor
green ears, until the
selfsame day that ye have brought an offering unto your God: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.
You must not eat any bread or
roasted or new grain until the very day you have brought this offering to your God. This is to be a permanent statute for the generations to come, wherever you live.
According to the multitude of years thou shalt increase the price thereof, and according to the fewness of years thou shalt diminish the price of it: for according to the number of the years of the fruits
doth he sell unto thee.
You shall increase the price in proportion to a greater number of years, or decrease it in proportion to a lesser number of years; for he is selling you a given number of harvests.
Then Moses heard the people
weep throughout their families, every man in the door of his tent: and the anger of the LORD was
kindled greatly; Moses also was displeased.
Then Moses heard the people of family after family
weeping at the entrances to their tents, and the anger of the LORD was
kindled greatly, and Moses was also displeased.
And while the flesh was yet between their teeth,
ere it was
chewed, the wrath of the LORD was
kindled against the people, and the LORD
smote the people with a very
great plague.
But while the meat was still between their teeth, before it was
chewed, the anger of the LORD burned against the people, and the LORD struck them with a severe plague.
Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very
great: and moreover we saw the children of
Anak there.
Nevertheless, the people living in the land are strong, and the cities are large and fortified. We even saw the descendants of
Anak there.
And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a
great stature.
So they gave the Israelites a bad report about the land that they had
spied out: “The land we
explored devours its inhabitants, and all the people we saw there are
great in
stature.
I will strike them with a plague and destroy them—and I will make you into a nation greater and mightier than they are.”
And now, I
beseech thee, let the power of my Lord be
great, according as thou hast spoken, saying,
So now I pray, may the power of my Lord be
magnified, just as You have declared:
The LORD is
longsuffering, and of
great mercy,
forgiving iniquity and
transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation.
‘The LORD is slow to anger and abounding in loving devotion,
forgiving iniquity and
transgression. Yet He will by no means leave the guilty unpunished; He will visit the iniquity of the fathers upon their children to the third and fourth generation.’
