trespass, whether it be for ox, for
ass, for sheep, for
raiment, or for any manner of lost thing, which another challengeth to be his, the cause of both parties shall come before the judges; and whom the judges shall
condemn, he shall pay double unto his neighbour.

donkey, a sheep, a garment, or any lost

guilty must pay back double to his
neighbor.

slay thou not: for I will not
justify the wicked.

accusation. Do not kill the innocent or the just, for I will not
acquit the
guilty.
Keeping mercy for thousands,
forgiving iniquity and
transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the
guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children’s children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.

hid from the eyes of the assembly, and they have done somewhat against any of the commandments of the LORD concerning things which should not be done, and are
guilty;

swear,
pronouncing with his lips to do evil, or to do good,

pronounce with an oath, and it be
hid from him; when he knoweth of it, then he shall be

thoughtlessly with his lips to do anything good or evil—in whatever matter a man may
rashly pronounce an oath—even if he is unaware of it, when he realizes it, he is
guilty in the matter.

revenger of blood find him without the borders of the city of his refuge, and the

Beware that there be not a thought in thy wicked heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand; and thine eye be evil against thy poor brother, and thou givest him
nought; and he cry unto the LORD against thee, and it be sin unto thee.
Be careful not to
harbor this wicked thought in your heart: “The seventh year, the year of release, is near,” so that you look upon your poor brother begrudgingly and give him nothing. He will cry out to the LORD against you, and you will be
guilty of sin.
That innocent blood be not shed in thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and so blood be upon thee.

bloodshed.

And it shall be, when their fathers or their brethren come unto us to
complain, that we will say unto them, Be favourable unto them for our sakes: because we reserved not to each man his wife in the war: for ye did not give unto them at this time, that ye should be
guilty.

If I
justify myself, mine own mouth shall
condemn me: if I say, I am perfect, it shall also prove me
perverse.
Even if I were righteous, my mouth would
condemn me; if I were
blameless, it would declare me
guilty.
If I be wicked, why then labour I in vain?
Since I am already found guilty, why should I labor in vain?
Thou knowest that I am not wicked; and there is none that can deliver out of thine hand.
though You know that I am not
guilty, and there is no
deliverance from Your hand?
If I be wicked,
woe unto me; and if I be righteous, yet will I not lift up my head. I am full of confusion; therefore see thou mine
affliction;
If I am
guilty,
woe to me! And even if I am righteous, I cannot lift my head. I am full of shame and aware of my
affliction.
Destroy thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee.
Declare them guilty, O God; let them fall by their own devices. Drive them out for their many transgressions, for they have rebelled against You.

abomination to the LORD.

froward and strange: but as for the pure, his work is right.

guilty man is
crooked, but the conduct of the innocent is upright.
He that saith unto the wicked, Thou art righteous; him shall the people
curse, nations shall
abhor him:
Whoever tells the
guilty, “You are innocent”— peoples will
curse him, and nations will
denounce him;

convict the
guilty, and rich blessing will come upon them.

justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!

acquit the
guilty for a
bribe and deprive the innocent of justice.

Thou art become
guilty in thy blood that thou hast shed; and hast
defiled thyself in thine idols which thou hast made; and thou hast caused thy days to draw near, and art come even unto thy years: therefore have I made thee a reproach unto the heathen, and a
mocking to all countries.
you are
guilty of the blood you have shed, and you are
defiled by the idols you have made. You have brought your days to a close and have come to the end of your years. Therefore I have made you a reproach to the nations and a
mockery to all the lands.
The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all
acquit the wicked: the LORD hath his way in the
whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.
The LORD is slow to anger and great in power; the LORD will by no means leave the
guilty unpunished. His path is in the
whirlwind and storm, and clouds are the dust beneath His feet.

offend, imputing this his power unto his god.

slay them, and hold themselves not
guilty: and they that sell them say, Blessed be the LORD; for I am rich: and their own
shepherds pity them not.

shepherds have no
compassion on them.

Whosoever shall
swear by the altar, it is nothing; but

anyone swears by the gift on it, he is bound by his oath.’

blasphemy. What is your
verdict?” And they all condemned Him as deserving of death.
Said unto them, Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverteth the people: and, behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man touching those things
whereof ye
accuse him:

inciting the people to rebellion. I have examined Him here in your presence and found Him not
guilty of your charges against Him.

If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no
cloke for their sin.

If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and
hated both me and my Father.

guilty of sin; but now they have seen and
hated both Me and My Father.
Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.
Jesus answered, “You would have no authority over Me if it were not given to you from above. Therefore the one who handed Me over to you is guilty of greater sin.”
For if I be an
offender, or have committed any thing worthy of death, I refuse not to die: but if there be none of these things
whereof these
accuse me, no man may deliver me unto them. I appeal unto Caesar.
If, however, I am guilty of anything worthy of death, I do not refuse to die. But if there is no truth to their accusations against me, no one has the right to hand me over to them. I appeal to Caesar!”
Now we know that what things
soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become
guilty before God.
Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God.
Wherefore
whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord,
unworthily, shall be
guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
Therefore,
whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be
guilty of
sinning against the body and blood of the Lord.

sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts
sprinkled to
cleanse us from a
guilty conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.

whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet
offend in one point, he is
guilty of all.
Whoever keeps the whole law but stumbles at just one point is
guilty of breaking all of it.

Anyone, then, who knows the right thing to do, yet fails to do it, is
guilty of sin.
And the
maid is fair and wise: now therefore hear me, and I will speak to her father; and when we return from Rages we will
celebrate the marriage: for I know that Raguel cannot marry her to another according to the law of Moses, but he shall be
guilty of death, because the right of inheritance
doth rather
appertain to thee than to any other.
For thou hast pronounced false judgment and hast condemned the innocent and hast let the
guilty go free;
