So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.
so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and the diseases and evil spirits left them.
Moreover ye see and hear, that not alone at Ephesus, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul hath persuaded and turned away much people, saying that they be no gods, which are made with hands:
And you can see and hear that not only in Ephesus, but in nearly the whole province of Asia, Paul has persuaded a great number of people to turn away. He says that man-made gods are no gods at all.
And they drew Alexander out of the multitude, the Jews putting him forward. And Alexander
beckoned with the
hand, and would have made his defence unto the people.
The Jews in the crowd pushed Alexander forward to explain himself, and he motioned for silence so he could make his
defense to the people.
You
yourselves know that these
hands of mine have ministered to my own needs and those of my companions.
Now when we had discovered
Cyprus, we left it on the left
hand, and sailed into Syria, and landed at Tyre: for there the ship was to
unlade her burden.
After sighting
Cyprus and passing south of it, we sailed on to Syria and landed at Tyre, where the ship was to unload its
cargo.
And when he was come unto us, he took Paul’s
girdle, and bound his own
hands and feet, and said, Thus saith the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this
girdle, and shall deliver him into the
hands of the Gentiles.
Coming over to us, he took Paul’s belt, bound his own feet and hands, and said, “The Holy Spirit says: ‘In this way the Jews of Jerusalem will bind the owner of this belt and hand him over to the Gentiles.’”
And when the seven days were almost ended, the Jews which were of Asia, when they saw him in the temple,
stirred up all the people, and laid
hands on him,
When the seven days were almost over, some Jews from the province of Asia saw Paul at the temple. They
stirred up the whole crowd and seized him,
And when he had given him licence, Paul stood on the stairs, and
beckoned with the
hand unto the people. And when there was made a great silence, he spake unto them in the Hebrew tongue, saying,
Having received permission, Paul stood on the steps and motioned to the crowd. A great
hush came over the crowd, and he addressed them in Hebrew:
And when I could not see for the glory of that light, being led by the hand of them that were with me, I came into Damascus.
Because the brilliance of the light had blinded me, my companions led me by the hand into Damascus.
Then the chief captain took him by the hand, and went with him aside privately, and asked him, What is that thou hast to tell me?
The commander took the young man by the hand, drew him aside, and asked, “What do you need to tell me?”
But the chief captain
Lysias came upon us, and with great violence took him away out of our
hands,
For if I be an
offender, or have committed any thing worthy of death, I refuse not to die: but if there be none of these things
whereof these
accuse me, no man may deliver me unto them. I appeal unto Caesar.
If, however, I am guilty of anything worthy of death, I do not refuse to die. But if there is no truth to their accusations against me, no one has the right to hand me over to them. I appeal to Caesar!”
To whom I answered, It is not the manner of the Romans to deliver any man to die, before that he which is accused have the accusers face to face, and have licence to answer for himself concerning the crime laid against him.
I told them that it is not the Roman custom to hand a man over before he has had an opportunity to face his accusers and defend himself against their charges.
Then
Agrippa said unto Paul, Thou art permitted to speak for
thyself. Then Paul stretched forth the
hand, and answered for himself:
Agrippa said to Paul, “You have permission to speak for
yourself.” Then Paul stretched out his
hand and began his
defense:
And when it was determined that we should sail into Italy, they delivered Paul and certain other prisoners unto one named Julius, a
centurion of Augustus’ band.
When it was decided that we would sail for Italy, Paul and some other prisoners were
handed over to a
centurion named Julius, who belonged to the Imperial Regiment.
And the third day we cast out with our own
hands the
tackling of the ship.
On the third day, they threw the ship’s
tackle overboard with their own
hands.
And when Paul had gathered a
bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a
viper out of the heat, and fastened on his
hand.
Paul gathered a
bundle of sticks, and as he laid them on the fire, a
viper, driven out by the heat, fastened itself to his
hand.
And when the barbarians saw the
venomous beast
hang on his
hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet
vengeance suffereth not to live.
When the islanders saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, “Surely this man is a murderer. Although he was saved from the sea, Justice has not allowed him to live.”
And it came to pass, that the father of
Publius lay sick of a fever and of a
bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his
hands on him, and
healed him.
The father of
Publius was sick in bed, suffering from fever and
dysentery. Paul went in to see him, and after praying and placing his
hands on him, he
healed the man.
And it came to pass, that after three days Paul called the chief of the Jews together: and when they were come together, he said unto them, Men and brethren, though I have committed nothing against the people, or customs of our fathers, yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans.
After three days, he called together the leaders of the Jews. When they had gathered, he said to them, “Brothers, although I have done nothing against our people or the customs of our fathers, I was taken prisoner in Jerusalem and handed over to the Romans.
Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died,
yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right
hand of God, who also maketh
intercession for us.
Who is there to
condemn us? For Christ Jesus, who died, and more than that was raised to life, is at the right
hand of God—and He is
interceding for us.
But to Israel he saith, All day long I have stretched forth my
hands unto a
disobedient and
gainsaying people.
But as for Israel he says: “All day long I have held out My
hands to a
disobedient and
obstinate people.”
The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
The night is nearly over; the day has drawn near. So let us lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the
armor of light.
To deliver such an one unto
Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
hand this man over to
Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved on the Day of the Lord.
If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body.
And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.
The eye cannot say to the hand, “I do not need you.” Nor can the head say to the feet, “I do not need you.”
Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
Then the end will come, when He hands over the kingdom to God the Father after He has destroyed all dominion, authority, and power.
Instead, we have
renounced secret and shameful ways. We do not practice
deceit, nor do we
distort the word of God. On the contrary, by open
proclamation of the truth, we
commend ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.
For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is
dismantled, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human
hands.
By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,
in truthful speech and in the power of God; with the weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left;
To
preach the gospel in the regions beyond you, and not to
boast in another man’s line of things made ready to our
hand.
so that we can
preach the gospel in the regions beyond you. Then we will not be
boasting in the work already done in another man’s territory.
And through a window in a
basket was I let down by the wall, and escaped his
hands.
But I was lowered in a
basket through a window in the wall and escaped his
grasp.
And when James,
Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and
Barnabas the right
hands of
fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the
circumcision.
And recognizing the grace that I had been given, James,
Cephas, and John—those reputed to be pillars—gave me and
Barnabas the right
hand of
fellowship, so that we should go to the Gentiles, and they to the
circumcised.
Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the
hand of a
mediator.
Why then was the law given? It was added because of transgressions, until the arrival of the seed to whom the promise referred. It was administered through angels by a
mediator.
Ye see how large a letter I have written unto you with mine own hand.
See what large letters I am using to write to you with my own hand!
Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
which He exerted in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly realms,
Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called
Uncircumcision by that which is called the
Circumcision in the flesh made by
hands;
Therefore remember that formerly you who are Gentiles in the flesh and called
uncircumcised by the so-called
circumcision (that done in the body by human
hands)—
Let him that
stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his
hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.
He who has been
stealing must
steal no longer, but must work, doing good with his own
hands, that he may have something to share with the one in need.
Let your
moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at
hand.
Let your gentleness be apparent to all. The Lord is near.
In Him you were also
circumcised, in the putting off of your sinful nature, with the
circumcision performed by Christ and not by human
hands.
Blotting out the
handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way,
nailing it to his cross;
having
canceled the debt ascribed to us in the decrees that stood against us. He took it away,
nailing it to the cross!
(Touch not; taste not; handle not;
“Do not handle, do not taste, do not touch!”?
If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
Therefore, since you have been raised with Christ,
strive for the things above, where Christ is seated at the right
hand of God.
The
salutation by the
hand of me Paul. Remember my bonds. Grace be with you.
Amen.
This
greeting is in my own
hand—Paul. Remember my chains. Grace be with you.
And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;
and to
aspire to live quietly, to attend to your own matters, and to work with your own
hands, as we
instructed you.
That ye be not soon
shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at
hand.
not to be easily
disconcerted or
alarmed by any spirit or message or letter seeming to be from us,
alleging that the Day of the Lord has already come.
The
salutation of Paul with mine own
hand, which is the
token in every epistle: so I write.
This
greeting is in my own
hand—Paul. This is my mark in every letter; it is the way I write.
Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto
Satan, that they may learn not to
blaspheme.
Among them are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have
handed over to
Satan to be taught not to
blaspheme.
I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.
Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy
hands, without anger or
dissension.
Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the
hands of the
presbytery.
Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given you through the prophecy spoken over you at the laying on of the hands of the elders.
Lay
hands suddenly on no man, neither be
partaker of other men’s sins: keep
thyself pure.
Do not be too quick in the laying on of
hands and thereby share in the sins of others. Keep
yourself pure.
Wherefore I put thee in
remembrance that thou
stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my
hands.
For this reason I remind you to
fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my
hands.
Make every effort to present
yourself approved to God, an unashamed
workman who accurately
handles the word of truth.
For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand.
I Paul have written it with mine own
hand, I will repay it:
albeit I do not say to thee how thou owest unto me even thine own self besides.
I, Paul, write this with my own hand. I will repay it—not to mention that you owe me your very self.
Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself
purged our sins, sat down on the right
hand of the Majesty on high;
The Son is the
radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His nature, upholding all things by His powerful word. After He had provided
purification for sins, He sat down at the right
hand of the Majesty on high.
And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:
And: “In the beginning, O Lord, You laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of Your hands.
But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right
hand, until I make thine enemies thy
footstool?
Yet to which of the angels did God ever say: “Sit at My right
hand until I make Your enemies a
footstool for Your feet”?
Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and
didst set him over the works of thy
hands:
You made him a little lower than the angels; You crowned him with glory and honor
Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
instruction about baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment.
Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;
The point of what we are saying is this: We do have such a high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven,
Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
It will not be like the covenant I made with their fathers when I took them by the
hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, because they did not
abide by My covenant, and I disregarded them, declares the Lord.
But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;
But when Christ came as high priest of the good things that have come, He went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not made by hands and is not a part of this creation.
For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:
For Christ did not enter a man-made copy of the true sanctuary, but He entered heaven itself, now to appear on our behalf in the presence of God.
But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
But when this Priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, He sat down at the right hand of God.
It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him
endured the cross,
despising the shame, and is set down at the right
hand of the throne of God.
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him
endured the cross,
scorning its shame, and sat down at the right
hand of the throne of God.
Wherefore lift up the
hands which
hang down, and the feeble knees;
Draw
nigh to God, and he will draw
nigh to you.
Cleanse your
hands, ye sinners; and
purify your hearts, ye double minded.
Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.
Cleanse your
hands, you sinners, and
purify your hearts, you double-minded.
Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.
who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, with angels, authorities, and powers subject to Him.
But the end of all things is at
hand: be ye therefore
sober, and watch unto prayer.
The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear-minded and
sober, so that you can pray.
Humble
yourselves therefore under the mighty
hand of God, that he may
exalt you in due time:
Humble
yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty
hand, so that in due time He may
exalt you.
That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our own eyes, which we have
gazed upon and touched with our own
hands—this is the Word of life.
Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.
Blessed is the one who reads
aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear and obey what is written in it, because the time is near.
And he had in his right
hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp
twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.
He held in His right
hand seven stars, and a sharp double-edged sword came from His mouth. His face was like the sun
shining at its brightest.
And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:
When I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man. But He placed His right hand on me and said, “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last,
The
mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right
hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.
This is the
mystery of the seven stars you saw in My right
hand and of the seven golden lampstands: The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.
Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks;
“To the angel of the church in Ephesus write: These are the words of Him who holds the seven stars in His right hand and walks among the seven golden lampstands.
And I saw in the right
hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the
backside, sealed with seven seals.
Then I saw a
scroll in the right
hand of the One seated on the throne. It had writing on both sides and was sealed with seven seals.
And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.
And He came and took the
scroll from the right
hand of the One seated on the throne.
And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I
beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his
hand.
And when the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come!” Then I looked and saw a black horse, and its rider held in his hand a pair of scales.
After this I
beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their
hands;
After this I looked and saw a multitude too large to count, from every nation and tribe and people and tongue, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and holding palm branches in their hands.
And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand.
And the smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of the saints, rose up before God from the hand of the angel.
And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet
repented not of the works of their
hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:
Now the rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues still did not
repent of the works of their
hands. They did not stop worshiping demons and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone, and wood, which cannot see or hear or walk.
And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth,
He held in his
hand a small
scroll, which lay open. He placed his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land.
And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven,
Then the angel I had seen standing on the sea and on the land lifted up his right hand to heaven.
And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth.
Then the voice that I had heard from heaven spoke to me again, saying, “Go, take the small
scroll that lies open in the
hand of the angel standing on the sea and on the land.”
And I took the little book out of the angel’s
hand, and
ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my
belly was bitter.
So I took the small
scroll from the angel’s
hand and
ate it; and it was as sweet as honey in my mouth, but when I had eaten it, my stomach turned bitter.
And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
And the second beast required all people small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right
hand or on their
forehead,
And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his
forehead, or in his
hand,
And a third angel followed them, calling out in a loud voice, “If
anyone worships the beast and its image, and receives its mark on his
forehead or on his
hand,
And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his
hand a sharp
sickle.
And I looked and saw a white cloud, and seated on the cloud was One like the Son of Man, with a golden crown on His head and a sharp
sickle in His
hand.
And the woman was
arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her
hand full of abominations and
filthiness of her
fornication:
The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls. She held in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the impurities of her sexual immorality.
For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great
whore, which did corrupt the earth with her
fornication, and hath
avenged the blood of his servants at her
hand.
For His judgments are true and just. He has judged the great
prostitute who corrupted the earth with her immorality. He has
avenged the blood of His servants that was poured out by her
hand.”
And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven with the key to the
Abyss, holding in his
hand a great chain.
And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were
beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their
hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
Then I saw the thrones, and those seated on them had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been
beheaded for their testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or its image, and had not received its mark on their foreheads or
hands. And they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.
And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand.
Then he told me, “Do not seal up the words of prophecy in this book, because the time is near.
Who
slew their young men with the sword,
yea, even within the compass of their holy temple, and
spared neither young man nor
maid, old man nor child, among them; for he delivered all into their
hands.
And
forasmuch as the things pertaining to the temple are now in
hand, we think it meet not to neglect such a matter,
