heard your cry of
affliction.

Ishmael, I have
heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he
beget, and I will make him a great nation.

heard about it until
today.”

And the man said, They are departed hence; for I heard them say, Let us go to Dothan. And Joseph went after his brethren, and found them in Dothan.

interpret it. But I have
heard it said of you that when you hear a dream you can
interpret it.”

heard that there is corn in Egypt: get you down thither, and

buy some for us, so that we may live and not die.”

heard this thing, he sought to

Midian, where he sat down beside a well.

And the LORD said, I have surely seen the
affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have
heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;

affliction of My people in Egypt. I have
heard them crying out because of their oppressors, and I am aware of their sufferings.
And the people believed: and when they
heard that the LORD had visited the children of Israel, and that he had looked upon their
affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshipped.
and they believed. And when they
heard that the LORD had attended to the Israelites and had seen their
affliction, they bowed down and worshiped.
And I have also
heard the
groaning of the children of Israel, whom the Egyptians keep in
bondage; and I have remembered my covenant.
And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it any more.
Then a great cry will go out over all the land of Egypt. Such an outcry has never been heard before and will never be heard again.
And in the morning, then ye shall see the glory of the LORD; for that he heareth your murmurings against the LORD: and what are we, that ye
murmur against us?
and in the morning you will see the LORD’s glory, because He has
heard your
grumbling against Him. For who are we that you should
grumble against us?”
And Moses said, This shall be, when the LORD shall give you in the evening flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full; for that the LORD heareth your murmurings which ye
murmur against him: and what are we? your murmurings are not against us, but against the LORD.
And Moses added, “The LORD will give you meat to eat this evening and bread to fill you in the morning, for He has
heard your
grumbling against Him. Who are we? Your grumblings are not against us but against the LORD.”
And Moses spake unto Aaron, Say unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, Come near before the LORD: for he hath heard your murmurings.
Then Moses said to Aaron, “Tell the whole congregation of Israel, ‘Come before the LORD, for He has
heard your
grumbling.’”
I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel: speak unto them, saying, At even ye shall eat flesh, and in the morning ye shall be filled with bread; and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God.
“I have
heard the
grumbling of the Israelites. Tell them, ‘At
twilight you will eat meat, and in the morning you will be filled with bread. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God.’”
When Jethro, the priest of
Midian, Moses’ father in law,
heard of all that God had done for Moses, and for Israel his people, and that the LORD had brought Israel out of Egypt;
Now Moses’ father-in-law Jethro, the priest of
Midian,
heard about all that God had done for Moses and His people Israel, and how the LORD had brought Israel out of Egypt.
And in all things that I have said unto you be
circumspect: and make no mention of the name of other gods, neither let it be
heard out of thy mouth.
Pay close attention to everything I have said to you. You must not
invoke the names of other gods; they must not be
heard on your lips.
And it shall be upon Aaron to minister: and his sound shall be heard when he goeth in unto the holy place before the LORD, and when he cometh out, that he die not.
Aaron must wear the
robe whenever he ministers, and its sound will be
heard when he enters or exits the sanctuary before the LORD, so that he will not die.
And when Joshua
heard the noise of the people as they
shouted, he said unto Moses, There is a noise of war in the camp.
When Joshua
heard the sound of the people
shouting, he said to Moses, “The sound of war is in the camp.”
And when the people
heard these evil
tidings, they
mourned: and no man did put on him his ornaments.
And when Moses heard that, he was content.
And when Moses heard this explanation, he was satisfied.
Bring forth him that hath
cursed without the camp; and let all that
heard him lay their hands upon his head, and let all the congregation stone him.
“Take the
blasphemer outside the camp, and have all who
heard him lay their hands on his head; then have the whole assembly stone him.
And when Moses was gone into the tabernacle of the congregation to speak with him, then he heard the voice of one speaking unto him from off the mercy seat that was upon the ark of testimony, from between the two cherubims: and he spake unto him.
When Moses entered the Tent of Meeting to speak with the LORD, he
heard the voice speaking to him from between the two
cherubim above the mercy seat on the ark of the Testimony. Thus the LORD spoke to him.
And when the people
complained, it displeased the LORD: and the LORD
heard it; and his anger was
kindled; and the fire of the LORD burnt among them, and consumed them that were in the
uttermost parts of the camp.
Soon the people began to
complain about their
hardship in the hearing of the LORD, and when He
heard them, His anger was
kindled, and fire from the LORD
blazed among them and consumed the outskirts of the camp.
Then Moses
heard the people
weep throughout their families, every man in the door of his tent: and the anger of the LORD was
kindled greatly; Moses also was displeased.
Then Moses
heard the people of family after family
weeping at the entrances to their tents, and the anger of the LORD was
kindled greatly, and Moses was also displeased.
And they said, Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard it.
“Does the LORD speak only through Moses?” they said. “Does He not also speak through us?” And the LORD heard this.
And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land: for they have
heard that thou LORD art among this people, that thou LORD art seen face to face, and that thy cloud standeth over them, and that thou goest before them, by
daytime in a
pillar of a cloud, and in a
pillar of fire by night.
And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land. They have already
heard that You, O LORD, are in the midst of this people, that You, O LORD, have been seen face to face, that Your cloud stands over them, and that You go before them in a
pillar of cloud by day and a
pillar of fire by night.
Now if thou shalt kill all this people as one man, then the nations which have heard the fame of thee will speak, saying,
If You kill this people as one man, the nations who have heard of Your fame will say,
How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which
murmur against me? I have
heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they
murmur against me.
“How long will this wicked congregation
grumble against Me? I have
heard the complaints that the Israelites are making against Me.
Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the LORD, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you:
So tell them: As surely as I live, declares the LORD, I will do to you exactly as I heard you say.
And when Moses heard it, he fell upon his face:
When Moses heard this, he fell facedown.
And when we
cried unto the LORD, he
heard our voice, and sent an angel, and hath brought us forth out of Egypt: and, behold, we are in Kadesh, a city in the
uttermost of thy border:
and when we
cried out to the LORD, He
heard our voice, sent an angel, and brought us out of Egypt. Now look, we are in Kadesh, a city on the edge of your territory.
And when king
Arad the
Canaanite, which dwelt in the south,
heard tell that Israel came by the way of the
spies; then he fought against Israel, and took some of them prisoners.
When the
Canaanite king of
Arad, who lived in the Negev,
heard that Israel was coming along the road to Atharim, he attacked Israel and captured some prisoners.
And the LORD
hearkened to the voice of Israel, and delivered up the
Canaanites; and they utterly destroyed them and their cities: and he called the name of the place Hormah.
And the LORD
heard Israel’s
plea and delivered up the
Canaanites. Israel devoted them and their cities to destruction; so they named the place Hormah.
And when Balak
heard that
Balaam was come, he went out to meet him unto a city of Moab, which is in the border of
Arnon, which is in the utmost coast.
When Balak
heard that
Balaam was coming, he went out to meet him at the
Moabite city on the
Arnon border, at the edge of his territory.
He hath said, which
heard the words of God, which saw the vision of the
Almighty, falling into a
trance, but having his eyes open:
the prophecy of one who hears the words of God, who sees a vision from the
Almighty, who bows down with eyes wide open:
He hath said, which
heard the words of God, and knew the knowledge of the most High, which saw the vision of the
Almighty, falling into a
trance, but having his eyes open:
the prophecy of one who hears the words of God, who has knowledge from the Most High, who sees a vision from the
Almighty, who bows down with eyes wide open:
And her husband
heard it, and held his peace at her in the day that he
heard it: then her vows shall stand, and her bonds
wherewith she bound her soul shall stand.
and her husband hears of it but says nothing to her on that day, then the vows or pledges by which she has bound herself shall stand.
But if her husband disallowed her on the day that he
heard it; then he shall make her
vow which she
vowed, and that which she uttered with her lips,
wherewith she bound her soul, of none effect: and the LORD shall
forgive her.
But if her husband prohibits her when he hears of it, he nullifies the
vow that binds her or the
rash promise she has made, and the LORD will
absolve her.
And her husband
heard it, and held his peace at her, and disallowed her not: then all her vows shall stand, and every bond
wherewith she bound her soul shall stand.
and her husband hears of it but says nothing to her and does not
prohibit her, then all the vows or pledges by which she has bound herself shall stand.
But if her husband hath utterly made them void on the day he
heard them; then
whatsoever proceeded out of her lips concerning her vows, or concerning the bond of her soul, shall not stand: her husband hath made them void; and the LORD shall
forgive her.
But if her husband nullifies them on the day he hears of them, then nothing that came from her lips, whether her vows or pledges, shall stand. Her husband has
nullified them, and the LORD will
absolve her.
But if her husband altogether hold his peace at her from day to day; then he establisheth all her vows, or all her bonds, which are upon her: he confirmeth them, because he held his peace at her in the day that he heard them.
But if her husband says nothing to her from day to day, then he confirms all the vows and pledges that bind her. He has confirmed them, because he said nothing to her on the day he heard about them.
But if he shall any ways make them void after that he hath heard them; then he shall bear her iniquity.
But if he nullifies them after he hears of them, then he will bear her iniquity.”
And king
Arad the
Canaanite, which dwelt in the south in the land of
Canaan,
heard of the coming of the children of Israel.
Now the
Canaanite king of
Arad, who lived in the Negev in the land of
Canaan,
heard that the Israelites were coming.
And the LORD
heard the voice of your words, and was
wroth, and
sware, saying,
When the LORD
heard your words, He grew
angry and
swore an oath, saying,
And the LORD spake unto you out of the midst of the fire: ye
heard the voice of the words, but saw no
similitude; only ye
heard a voice.
And the LORD spoke to you out of the fire. You heard the sound of the words, but saw no form; there was only a voice.
For ask now of the days that are past, which were before thee, since the day that God created man upon the earth, and ask from the one side of heaven unto the other, whether there hath been any such thing as this great thing is, or hath been heard like it?
Indeed, ask now from one end of the heavens to the other about the days that long preceded you, from the day that God created man on earth: Has anything as great as this ever happened or been reported?
Did ever people hear the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as thou hast heard, and live?
Has a people ever heard the voice of God speaking out of the fire, as you have, and lived?
Out of heaven he made thee to hear his voice, that he might
instruct thee: and upon earth he shewed thee his great fire; and thou
heardest his words out of the midst of the fire.
He let you hear His voice from heaven to discipline you, and on earth He showed you His great fire, and you heard His words out of the fire.
And it came to pass, when ye heard the voice out of the midst of the darkness, (for the mountain did burn with fire,) that ye came near unto me, even all the heads of your tribes, and your elders;
And when you
heard the voice out of the darkness while the mountain was
blazing with fire, all the heads of your tribes and your elders approached me,
And ye said, Behold, the LORD our God hath shewed us his glory and his greatness, and we have
heard his voice out of the midst of the fire: we have seen this day that God
doth talk with man, and he liveth.
and you said, “Behold, the LORD our God has shown us His glory and greatness, and we have
heard His voice out of the fire.
Today we have seen that a man can live even if God speaks with him.
For who is there of all flesh, that hath heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as we have, and lived?
For who of all flesh has heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the fire, as we have, and survived?
And the LORD heard the voice of your words, when ye spake unto me; and the LORD said unto me, I have heard the voice of the words of this people, which they have spoken unto thee: they have well said all that they have spoken.
And the LORD heard the words you spoke to me, and He said to me, “I have heard the words that these people have spoken to you. They have done well in all that they have spoken.
A people great and tall, the children of the Anakims, whom thou knowest, and of whom thou hast
heard say, Who can stand before the children of
Anak!
The people are strong and tall, the descendants of the
Anakim. You know about them, and you have
heard it said, “Who can stand up to the sons of
Anak?”
And it be told thee, and thou hast
heard of it, and enquired
diligently, and, behold, it be true, and the thing certain, that such
abomination is wrought in Israel:
and if it is reported and you hear about it, you must
investigate it thoroughly. If the report is true and such an
abomination has happened in Israel,
And when we
cried unto the LORD God of our fathers, the LORD
heard our voice, and looked on our
affliction, and our labour, and our oppression:
So we called out to the LORD, the God of our fathers; and the LORD
heard our voice and saw our
affliction,
toil, and oppression.
For we have
heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the
Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and
Og, whom ye utterly destroyed.
For we have
heard how the LORD dried up the waters of the Red Sea before you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to Sihon and
Og, the two kings of the
Amorites across the Jordan, whom you devoted to destruction.
And as soon as we had
heard these things, our hearts did
melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the LORD your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.
When we
heard this, our hearts melted and
everyone’s courage failed because of you, for the LORD your God is God in the heavens above and on the earth below.
And it came to pass, when all the kings of the
Amorites, which were on the side of Jordan westward, and all the kings of the
Canaanites, which were by the sea,
heard that the LORD had dried up the waters of Jordan from before the children of Israel, until we were passed over, that their heart melted, neither was there spirit in them any more, because of the children of Israel.
Now when all the Amorite kings west of the Jordan and all the
Canaanite kings along the coast
heard how the LORD had dried up the waters of the Jordan before the Israelites until they had crossed over, their hearts melted and their spirits failed for fear of the Israelites.
And Joshua had commanded the people, saying, Ye shall not
shout, nor make any noise with your voice, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I
bid you
shout; then shall ye
shout.
But Joshua had commanded the people: “Do not give a battle cry or let your voice be
heard; do not let one word come out of your mouth until the day I tell you to
shout. Then you are to
shout!”
So the people
shouted when the priests
blew with the
trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people
heard the sound of the
trumpet, and the people
shouted with a great
shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.
So when the rams’ horns sounded, the people
shouted. When they
heard the blast of the horn, the people gave a great
shout, and the wall
collapsed. Then all the people charged straight into the city and captured it.
And it came to pass, when all the kings which were on this side Jordan, in the hills, and in the valleys, and in all the coasts of the great sea over against
Lebanon, the Hittite, and the Amorite, the
Canaanite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite,
heard thereof;
And when the inhabitants of
Gibeon heard what Joshua had done unto
Jericho and to
Ai,
But the people of
Gibeon, having
heard what Joshua had done to
Jericho and
Ai,
And they said unto him, From a very far country thy servants are come because of the name of the LORD thy God: for we have heard the fame of him, and all that he did in Egypt,
“Your servants have come from a very distant land,” they replied, “because of the fame of the LORD your God. For we have heard the reports about Him: all that He did in Egypt,
And it came to pass at the end of three days after they had made a league with them, that they heard that they were their neighbours, and that they dwelt among them.
Three days after they had made the treaty with the Gibeonites, the Israelites learned that they were neighbors, living among them.
Now it came to pass, when Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem had
heard how Joshua had taken
Ai, and had utterly destroyed it; as he had done to
Jericho and her king, so he had done to
Ai and her king; and how the inhabitants of
Gibeon had made peace with Israel, and were among them;
Now Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem
heard that Joshua had captured
Ai and devoted it to destruction—doing to
Ai and its king as he had done to
Jericho and its king—and that the people of
Gibeon had made peace with Israel and were living near them.
And it came to pass, when Jabin king of Hazor had heard those things, that he sent to Jobab king of Madon, and to the king of Shimron, and to the king of Achshaph,
Now when Jabin king of Hazor heard about these things, he sent word to Jobab king of Madon; to the kings of Shimron and Achshaph;
Now therefore give me this mountain,
whereof the LORD spake in that day; for thou
heardest in that day how the Anakims were there, and that the cities were great and
fenced: if so be the LORD will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the LORD said.
Now therefore give me this hill country that the LORD promised me on that day, for you
yourself heard then that the
Anakim were there, with great and fortified cities. Perhaps with the LORD’s help I will drive them out, as the LORD has spoken.”
And the children of Israel
heard say, Behold, the children of
Reuben and the children of
Gad and the half tribe of
Manasseh have built an altar over against the land of
Canaan, in the borders of Jordan, at the passage of the children of Israel.
Then the Israelites received the report: “Behold, the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of
Manasseh have built an altar on the border of the land of
Canaan, at Geliloth near the Jordan on the
Israelite side.”
And when the children of Israel
heard of it, the whole congregation of the children of Israel gathered themselves together at
Shiloh, to go up to war against them.
And when they
heard this, the whole congregation of Israel assembled at
Shiloh to go to war against them.
And when
Phinehas the priest, and the princes of the congregation and heads of the thousands of Israel which were with him,
heard the words that the children of
Reuben and the children of
Gad and the children of
Manasseh spake, it pleased them.
When
Phinehas the priest and the chiefs of the congregation—the heads of Israel’s clans who were with him—
heard what the descendants of
Reuben,
Gad, and
Manasseh had to say, they were satisfied.
And Joshua said unto all the people, Behold, this stone shall be a witness unto us; for it hath heard all the words of the LORD which he spake unto us: it shall be therefore a witness unto you, lest ye deny your God.
