So
Joab and the people that were with
him drew
nigh before the Syrians unto the battle; and they fled before
him.
So
Joab and his troops advanced to fight the Arameans, who fled before
him.
And it was told David; and he gathered all Israel, and passed over Jordan, and came upon them, and set the battle in
array against them. So when David had put the battle in
array against the Syrians, they fought with
him.
When this was reported to David, he gathered all Israel, crossed the Jordan, advanced toward the Arameans, and
arrayed for battle against them. When David lined up to
engage them in battle, they fought against
him.
And when the servants of Hadarezer saw that they were put to the worse before Israel, they made peace with David, and became his servants: neither would the Syrians help the children of
Ammon any more.
When Hadadezer’s subjects saw that they had been defeated by Israel, they made peace with David and became subject to
him. So the Arameans were unwilling to help the
Ammonites anymore.
and when he
taunted Israel,
Jonathan the son of David’s brother Shimei killed
him.
But Levi and Benjamin counted he not among them: for the king’s word was
abominable to
Joab.
But
Joab did not include Levi and Benjamin in the count, because the king’s command was
detestable to
him.
So
Gad came to David, and said unto
him, Thus saith the LORD, Choose thee
So
Gad went and said to David, “This is what the LORD says: ‘You must choose
Either three years’ famine; or three months to be destroyed before thy foes, while that the sword of thine enemies overtaketh thee; or else three days the sword of the LORD, even the
pestilence, in the land, and the angel of the LORD destroying throughout all the coasts of Israel. Now therefore
advise thyself what word I shall bring again to
him that sent me.
between three years of famine, three months of being swept away before your enemies and overtaken by their swords, or three days of the sword of the LORD—days of plague upon the land, with the angel of the LORD
ravaging every part of Israel.’ Now then, decide how I should reply to
Him who sent me.”
And God sent an angel unto Jerusalem to destroy it: and as he was destroying, the LORD
beheld, and he
repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed, It is enough, stay now thine hand. And the angel of the LORD stood by the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.
Then God sent an angel to destroy Jerusalem, but as the angel was doing so, the LORD saw it and relented from the
calamity, and He said to the angel who was destroying the people, “Enough! Withdraw your hand now!” At that time the angel of the LORD was standing by the
threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
And Ornan turned back, and saw the angel; and his four sons with
him hid themselves. Now Ornan was
threshing wheat.
Now Ornan was
threshing wheat when he turned and saw the angel; and his four sons who were with
him hid themselves.
And as David came to Ornan, Ornan looked and saw David, and went out of the threshingfloor, and bowed himself to David with his face to the ground.
David came to Ornan, and when Ornan looked out and saw David, he left the
threshing floor and bowed facedown before David.
And David built there an altar unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called upon the LORD; and he answered him from heaven by fire upon the altar of burnt offering.
And there he built an altar to the LORD and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. He called upon the LORD, who answered him with fire from heaven on the altar of burnt offering.
At that time when David saw that the LORD had answered him in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite, then he sacrificed there.
At that time, when David saw that the LORD had answered
him at the
threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite, he offered sacrifices there.
Then he called for Solomon his son, and charged him to build an house for the LORD God of Israel.
Then David called for his son Solomon and
instructed him to build a house for the LORD, the God of Israel.
Behold, a son shall be born to thee, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about: for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness unto Israel in his days.
But a son will be born to you who will be a man of rest. I will give him rest from all his enemies on every side; for his name will be Solomon, and I will grant to Israel peace and quiet during his reign.
The sons of Amram; Aaron and Moses: and Aaron was separated, that he should
sanctify the most holy things, he and his sons for ever, to burn incense before the LORD, to minister unto
him, and to
bless in his name for ever.
The sons of Amram: Aaron and Moses. Aaron and his descendants were set apart
forever to
consecrate the most holy things, to burn incense before the LORD, to minister before
Him, and to
pronounce blessings in His name
forever.
These were the orderings of them in their service to come into the house of the LORD, according to their manner, under Aaron their father, as the LORD God of Israel had commanded him.
This was their appointed order for service when they entered the house of the LORD, according to the regulations prescribed for them by their
forefather Aaron, as the LORD, the God of Israel, had commanded
him.
All these were the sons of Heman the king’s
seer in the words of God, to lift up the horn. And God gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.
All these sons of Heman the king’s
seer were given
him through the promises of God to
exalt him, for God had given Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.
Ammiel the sixth,
Issachar the seventh, Peulthai the eighth: for God blessed
him.
Ammiel the sixth,
Issachar the seventh, and Peullethai the eighth. For God had blessed Obed-
edom.
Also Hosah, of the children of Merari, had sons; Simri the chief, (for though he was not the
firstborn, yet his father made
him the chief;)
Hosah the Merarite also had sons: Shimri the first (although he was not the
firstborn, his father had appointed
him as the first),
And the lot eastward fell to Shelemiah. Then for
Zechariah his son, a wise counsellor, they cast lots; and his lot came out northward.
The lot for the East Gate fell to Shelemiah. Then lots were cast for his son
Zechariah, a wise
counselor, and the lot for the North Gate fell to
him.
The fourth captain for the fourth month was
Asahel the brother of
Joab, and Zebadiah his son after
him: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
The fourth, for the fourth month, was
Joab’s brother
Asahel, and his son Zebadiah was commander after
him. There were 24,000 men in his division.
And he said unto me, Solomon thy son, he shall build my house and my courts: for I have chosen him to be my son, and I will be his father.
And He said to me, ‘Solomon your son is the one who will build My house and My courts, for I have chosen him as My son, and I will be his Father.
And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve
him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek
him, he will be found of thee; but if thou
forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.
As for you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father and serve
Him wholeheartedly and with a willing mind, for the LORD searches every heart and understands the intent of every thought. If you seek
Him, He will be found by you; but if you
forsake Him, He will
reject you
forever.
The gold for things of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and for all manner of work to be made by the hands of artificers. And who then is willing to
consecrate his service this day unto the LORD?
And did eat and drink before the LORD on that day with great
gladness. And they made Solomon the son of David king the second time, and
anointed him unto the LORD to be the chief governor, and
Zadok to be priest.
That day they
ate and
drank with great joy in the presence of the LORD. Then, for a second time, they designated David’s son Solomon as king,
anointing him before the LORD as ruler, and
Zadok as the priest.
Then Solomon sat on the throne of the LORD as king instead of David his father, and
prospered; and all Israel obeyed
him.
So Solomon sat on the throne of the LORD as king in place of his father David. He
prospered, and all Israel obeyed
him.
And the LORD
magnified Solomon exceedingly in the sight of all Israel, and bestowed upon
him such royal majesty as had not been on any king before
him in Israel.
The LORD highly
exalted Solomon in the sight of all Israel and bestowed on
him royal majesty such as had not been bestowed on any king in Israel before
him.
With all his reign and his might, and the times that went over him, and over Israel, and over all the kingdoms of the countries.
together with all the details of his reign, his might, and the circumstances that came upon him and Israel and all the kingdoms of the lands.
And Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and the LORD his God was with
him, and
magnified him exceedingly.
Now Solomon son of David established
himself securely over his kingdom, and the LORD his God was with
him and highly
exalted him.
So Solomon, and all the congregation with
him, went to the high place that was at
Gibeon; for there was the tabernacle of the congregation of God, which Moses the servant of the LORD had made in the wilderness.
And Solomon and the whole assembly went to the high place at
Gibeon because it was the
location of God’s Tent of Meeting, which Moses the servant of the LORD had made in the wilderness.
Moreover the
brasen altar, that Bezaleel the son of
Uri, the son of Hur, had made, he put before the tabernacle of the LORD: and Solomon and the congregation sought unto it.
But the bronze altar made by Bezalel son of
Uri, the son of Hur, was in
Gibeon before the tabernacle of the LORD. So Solomon and the assembly inquired of
Him there.
In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee.
That night God appeared to Solomon and said, “Ask, and I will give it to you!”
Solomon accumulated 1,400
chariots and 12,000 horses, which he stationed in the
chariot cities and also with
him in Jerusalem.
And Solomon determined to build an house for the name of the LORD, and an house for his kingdom.
Now Solomon purposed to build a house for the Name of the LORD and a royal palace for himself.
And Solomon sent to Huram the king of Tyre, saying, As thou
didst deal with David my father, and
didst send
him cedars to build
him an house to dwell therein, even so deal with me.
Then Solomon sent word to
Hiram king of Tyre: “Do for me as you did for my father David when you sent
him cedars to build
himself a house to live in.
Behold, I build an house to the name of the LORD my God, to
dedicate it to
him, and to burn before
him sweet incense, and for the continual
shewbread, and for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts of the LORD our God. This is an
ordinance for ever to Israel.
Behold, I am about to build a house for the Name of the LORD my God to
dedicate to
Him for burning
fragrant incense before
Him, for displaying the
showbread continuously, and for making burnt offerings every morning and evening as well as on the Sabbaths, New Moons, and appointed feasts of the LORD our God. This is ordained for Israel
forever.
But who is able to build him an house, seeing the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain him? who am I then, that I should build him an house, save only to burn sacrifice before him?
But who is able to build a house for Him, since the heavens, even the highest heavens, cannot contain Him? Who then am I, that I should build a house for Him, except as a place to burn sacrifices before Him?
Huram said moreover, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, that made heaven and earth, who hath given to David the king a wise son,
endued with
prudence and understanding, that might build an house for the LORD, and an house for his kingdom.
And
Hiram added: “Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who made the heavens and the earth! He has given King David a wise son with insight and understanding, who will build a temple for the LORD and a royal palace for
himself.
The son of a woman of the daughters of
Dan, and his father was a man of Tyre, skilful to work in gold, and in silver, in brass, in iron, in stone, and in timber, in purple, in blue, and in fine linen, and in
crimson; also to grave any manner of graving, and to find out every
device which shall be put to
him, with thy
cunning men, and with the
cunning men of my lord David thy father.
He is the son of a woman from the daughters of
Dan, and his father is a man of Tyre. He is skilled in work with gold and silver, bronze and iron, stone and wood, purple, blue, and
crimson yarn, and fine linen. He is experienced in every kind of engraving and can
execute any design that is given
him. He will work with your
craftsmen and with those of my lord, your father David.
Now therefore the wheat, and the barley, the oil, and the wine, which my lord hath spoken of, let him send unto his servants:
Now let my lord send to his servants the wheat, barley, olive oil, and wine he promised.
Also king Solomon, and all the congregation of Israel that were assembled unto him before the ark, sacrificed sheep and oxen, which could not be told nor numbered for multitude.
There, before the ark, King Solomon and the whole congregation of Israel who had assembled with him sacrificed so many sheep and oxen that they could not be counted or numbered.
Thou which hast kept with thy servant David my father that which thou hast promised him; and spakest with thy mouth, and hast fulfilled it with thine hand, as it is this day.
You have kept Your promise to Your servant, my father David. What You spoke with Your mouth You have fulfilled with Your hand this day.
Now therefore, O LORD God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father that which thou hast promised
him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit upon the throne of Israel; yet so that thy children take
heed to their way to walk in my law, as thou hast walked before me.
Therefore now, O LORD, God of Israel, keep for Your servant, my father David, what You promised when You said: ‘You will never fail to have a man to sit before Me on the throne of Israel, if only your descendants guard their way to walk in My law as you have walked before Me.’
If a man sin against his neighbour, and an oath be laid upon
him to make
him swear, and the oath come before thine altar in this house;
When a man sins against his
neighbor and is required to take an oath, and he comes to take an oath before Your altar in this temple,
Then hear thou from heaven, and do, and judge thy servants, by requiting the wicked, by
recompensing his way upon his own head; and by
justifying the righteous, by giving
him according to his righteousness.
then may You hear from heaven and act. May You judge Your servants,
condemning the wicked man by bringing down on his own head what he has done, and
justifying the righteous man by rewarding
him according to his righteousness.
Also at the same time Solomon kept the feast seven days, and all Israel with
him, a very great congregation, from the entering in of
Hamath unto the river of Egypt.
So at that time Solomon and all Israel with
him—a very great assembly of people from Lebo-
hamath to the
Brook of Egypt—kept the feast for seven days.
And the LORD appeared to Solomon by night, and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer, and have chosen this place to myself for an house of sacrifice.
the LORD appeared to him at night and said to him: “I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice.
That the cities which Huram had restored to Solomon, Solomon built them, and caused the children of Israel to dwell there.
Solomon rebuilt the cities
Hiram had given
him and settled Israelites there.
And Huram sent
him by the hands of his servants ships, and servants that had knowledge of the sea; and they went with the servants of Solomon to
Ophir, and took thence four hundred and fifty talents of gold, and brought them to king Solomon.
So
Hiram sent
him ships captained by his servants, along with crews of experienced sailors. They went with Solomon’s servants to
Ophir and acquired from there 450 talents of gold, which they delivered to King Solomon.
And when the queen of
Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon, she came to prove Solomon with hard questions at Jerusalem, with a very great company, and camels that bare spices, and gold in abundance, and precious stones: and when she was come to Solomon, she communed with
him of all that was in her heart.
Now when the queen of
Sheba heard about the fame of Solomon, she came to test
him with difficult questions. She arrived in Jerusalem with a very large
caravan—with camels bearing spices, gold in abundance, and precious stones. So she came to Solomon and spoke with
him about all that was on her mind.
And Solomon told her all her questions: and there was nothing
hid from Solomon which he told her not.
And Solomon answered all her questions; nothing was too difficult for him to explain.
And Solomon had four thousand stalls for horses and
chariots, and twelve thousand
horsemen; whom he bestowed in the
chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.
Solomon had 4,000 stalls for horses and
chariots, and 12,000 horses, which he stationed in the
chariot cities and also with
him in Jerusalem.
Then
Rehoboam went to
Shechem, for all Israel had gone there to make
him king.
And they sent and called
him. So
Jeroboam and all Israel came and spake to
Rehoboam, saying,
And they spake unto him, saying, If thou be kind to this people, and please them, and speak good words to them, they will be thy servants for ever.
They replied, “If you will be kind to these people and please them by speaking kind words to them, they will be your servants
forever.”
But he
forsook the counsel which the old men gave
him, and took counsel with the young men that were brought up with
him, that stood before
him.
But
Rehoboam rejected the advice of the elders; instead, he consulted the young men who had grown up with
him and served
him.
And the young men that were brought up with him spake unto him, saying, Thus shalt thou answer the people that spake unto thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, but make thou it somewhat lighter for us; thus shalt thou say unto them, My little finger shall be thicker than my father’s loins.
The young men who had grown up with
him replied, “This is how you should answer these people who said to you, ‘Your father made our yoke heavy, but you should make it lighter.’ This is what you should tell them: ‘My little finger is thicker than my father’s
waist!
Then king
Rehoboam sent Hadoram that was over the tribute; and the children of Israel stoned
him with stones, that he died. But king
Rehoboam made speed to get
him up to his
chariot, to
flee to Jerusalem.
Then King
Rehoboam sent out Hadoram, who was in charge of the forced labor, but the Israelites stoned
him to death. And King
Rehoboam mounted his
chariot in
haste and escaped to Jerusalem.
And in every several city he put shields and spears, and made them exceeding strong, having Judah and Benjamin on his side.
He also put shields and spears in all the cities and strengthened them greatly. So Judah and Benjamin belonged to him.
And the priests and the Levites that were in all Israel resorted to him out of all their coasts.
Moreover, the priests and Levites from all their districts throughout Israel stood with
Rehoboam.
And he ordained
him priests for the high places, and for the devils, and for the
calves which he had made.
And
Jeroboam appointed his own priests for the high places and for the goat demons and
calf idols he had made.
And
Rehoboam took
him Mahalath the daughter of Jerimoth the son of David to wife, and Abihail the daughter of Eliab the son of
Jesse;
And
Rehoboam married Mahalath, who was the daughter of David’s son Jerimoth and of Abihail, the daughter of
Jesse’s son Eliab.
Which bare him children; Jeush, and Shamariah, and Zaham.
She bore sons to him: Jeush, Shemariah, and Zaham.
And after her he took Maachah the daughter of
Absalom; which bare
him Abijah, and Attai, and Ziza, and Shelomith.
After her, he married
Maacah daughter of
Absalom, and she bore to
him Abijah, Attai, Ziza, and Shelomith.
And
Rehoboam made
Abijah the son of Maachah the chief, to be ruler among his brethren: for he thought to make
him king.
Rehoboam appointed
Abijah son of
Maacah as chief prince among his brothers, intending to make
him king.
And it came to pass, when
Rehoboam had established the kingdom, and had strengthened
himself, he
forsook the law of the LORD, and all Israel with
him.
After
Rehoboam had established his sovereignty and royal power, he and all Israel with
him forsook the Law of the LORD.
With twelve hundred
chariots, and
threescore thousand
horsemen: and the people were without number that came with
him out of Egypt; the Lubim, the Sukkiims, and the Ethiopians.
with 1,200
chariots, 60,000
horsemen, and countless troops who came with
him out of Egypt—Libyans, Sukkites, and Cushites.
And when the king entered into the house of the LORD, the guard came and
fetched them, and brought them again into the guard chamber.
And whenever the king entered the house of the LORD, the guards would go with
him, bearing the shields, and later they would return them to the
guardroom.
And when he humbled himself, the wrath of the LORD turned from him that he would not destroy him altogether: and also in Judah things went well.
Because
Rehoboam humbled
himself, the anger of the LORD turned away from
him, and He did not destroy
him completely. Indeed, conditions were good in Judah.
So king
Rehoboam strengthened
himself in Jerusalem, and reigned: for
Rehoboam was one and forty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. And his mother’s name was Naamah an Ammonitess.
Thus King
Rehoboam established
himself in Jerusalem. He was forty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city the LORD had chosen from all the tribes of Israel in which to put His Name. His mother’s name was Naamah the
Ammonite.
And
Abijah set the battle in
array with an army of
valiant men of war, even four hundred thousand chosen men:
Jeroboam also set the battle in
array against
him with eight hundred thousand chosen men, being mighty men of valour.
Abijah went into battle with an army of 400,000 chosen men, while
Jeroboam drew up in formation against
him with 800,000 chosen and mighty men of
valor.
Ought ye not to know that the LORD God of Israel gave the kingdom over Israel to David for ever, even to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt?
Do you not know that the LORD, the God of Israel, has given the
kingship of Israel to David and his descendants
forever by a covenant of salt?
And there are gathered unto
him vain men, the children of
Belial, and have strengthened themselves against
Rehoboam the son of Solomon, when
Rehoboam was young and tenderhearted, and could not
withstand them.
Then worthless and wicked men gathered around
him to resist
Rehoboam son of Solomon when he was young, inexperienced, and unable to resist them.
Have ye not cast out the priests of the LORD, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and have made you priests after the manner of the nations of other lands? so that
whosoever cometh to
consecrate himself with a young
bullock and seven rams, the same may be a priest of them that are no gods.
But did you not drive out the priests of the LORD, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites? And did you not make priests for
yourselves as do the peoples of other lands? Now
whoever comes to
consecrate himself with a young bull and seven rams can become a priest of things that are not gods.
But as for us, the LORD is our God, and we have not
forsaken him; and the priests, which minister unto the LORD, are the sons of Aaron, and the Levites wait upon their business:
But as for us, the LORD is our God. We have not
forsaken Him; the priests who minister to the LORD are sons of Aaron, and the Levites attend to their duties.
And they burn unto the LORD every morning and every evening burnt sacrifices and sweet incense: the
shewbread also set they in order upon the pure table; and the
candlestick of gold with the lamps thereof, to burn every evening: for we keep the charge of the LORD our God; but ye have
forsaken him.
Every morning and every evening they present burnt offerings and
fragrant incense to the LORD. They set out the rows of
showbread on the
ceremonially clean table, and every evening they light the lamps of the gold lampstand. We are carrying out the requirements of the LORD our God, while you have
forsaken Him.
And, behold, God
himself is with us for our captain, and his priests with sounding
trumpets to cry
alarm against you. O children of Israel, fight ye not against the LORD God of your fathers; for ye shall not
prosper.
Now behold, God
Himself is with us as our head, and His priests with their
trumpets sound the battle call against you. O children of Israel, do not fight against the LORD, the God of your fathers, for you will not succeed.”
And
Abijah pursued after
Jeroboam, and took cities from
him,
Bethel with the towns thereof, and Jeshanah with the towns thereof, and Ephrain with the towns thereof.
Abijah pursued
Jeroboam and captured some cities from
him:
Bethel, Jeshanah, and Ephron, along with their villages.
Neither did
Jeroboam recover strength again in the days of
Abijah: and the LORD struck
him, and he died.
Jeroboam did not again recover his power during the days of
Abijah, and the LORD struck
him down and he died.
So
Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried
him in the city of David: and
Asa his son reigned in his
stead. In his days the land was quiet ten years.
Then
Abijah rested with his fathers and was buried in the City of David. And his son
Asa reigned in his place, and in his days the land was at peace for ten years.
Also he took away out of all the cities of Judah the high places and the images: and the kingdom was quiet before him.
He also removed the high places and incense altars from all the cities of Judah, and under him the kingdom was at peace.
And he built
fenced cities in Judah: for the land had rest, and he had no war in those years; because the LORD had given
him rest.
Because the land was at peace,
Asa built fortified cities in Judah. In those days no one made war with
him, because the LORD had given
him rest.
Therefore he said unto Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about them walls, and towers, gates, and bars, while the land is yet before us; because we have sought the LORD our God, we have sought
him, and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built and
prospered.
So he said to the people of Judah, “Let us build these cities and
surround them with walls and towers, with doors and bars. The land is still ours because we have sought the LORD our God. We have sought
Him and He has given us rest on every side.” So they built and
prospered.
Then
Asa went out against
him, and they set the battle in
array in the valley of Zephathah at Mareshah.
So
Asa marched out against
him and lined up in battle formation in the Valley of Zephathah near Mareshah.
And
Asa and the people that were with
him pursued them unto
Gerar: and the Ethiopians were overthrown, that they could not recover themselves; for they were destroyed before the LORD, and before his host; and they carried away very much
spoil.
Then
Asa and his army pursued them as far as
Gerar. The Cushites fell and could not recover, for they were
crushed before the LORD and His army. So the people of Judah carried off a great amount of
plunder And he went out to meet
Asa, and said unto
him, Hear ye me,
Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The LORD is with you, while ye be with
him; and if ye seek
him, he will be found of you; but if ye
forsake him, he will
forsake you.
So he went out to meet
Asa and said to
him, “
Listen to me,
Asa and all Judah and Benjamin. The LORD is with you when you are with
Him. If you seek
Him, He will be found by you, but if you
forsake Him, He will
forsake you.
But when they in their trouble did turn unto the LORD God of Israel, and sought him, he was found of them.
But in their distress they turned to the LORD, the God of Israel, and sought Him, and He was found by them.
And in those times there was no peace to him that went out, nor to him that came in, but great vexations were upon all the inhabitants of the countries.
In those days there was no safety for travelers, because the residents of the lands had many conflicts.
And he gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and the strangers with them out of Ephraim and
Manasseh, and out of
Simeon: for they fell to
him out of Israel in abundance, when they saw that the LORD his God was with
him.
And he assembled all Judah and Benjamin, along with those from the tribes of Ephraim,
Manasseh, and
Simeon who had settled among them, for great numbers had come over to
him from Israel when they saw that the LORD his God was with
him.
And all Judah
rejoiced at the oath: for they had
sworn with all their heart, and sought
him with their whole desire; and he was found of them: and the LORD gave them rest round about.
And all Judah
rejoiced over the oath, for they had
sworn it with all their heart. They had sought
Him earnestly, and He was found by them. So the LORD gave them rest on every side.
And he brought into the house of God the things that his father had dedicated, and that he himself had dedicated, silver, and gold, and vessels.
And he brought into the house of God the silver and gold articles that he and his father had dedicated.
And at that time Hanani the
seer came to
Asa king of Judah, and said unto
him, Because thou hast
relied on the king of Syria, and not
relied on the LORD thy God, therefore is the host of the king of Syria escaped out of thine hand.
At that time Hanani the
seer came to King
Asa of Judah and told
him, “Because you have
relied on the king of
Aram and not on the LORD your God, the army of the king of
Aram has escaped from your hand.
For the eyes of the LORD run to and
fro throughout the whole earth, to
shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward
him.
Herein thou hast done
foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars.
For the eyes of the LORD
roam to and
fro over all the earth, to show

Then
Asa was
wroth with the
seer, and put
him in a prison house; for he was in a
rage with
him because of this thing. And
Asa oppressed some of the people the same time.
And they buried
him in his own
