But I will settle him in mine
house and in my kingdom for ever: and his throne shall be established for
evermore.
But I will set him over My
house and My kingdom
forever, and his throne will be established
forever.”
And David the king came and sat before the LORD, and said, Who am I, O LORD God, and what is mine house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?
Then King David went in, sat before the LORD, and said, “Who am I, O LORD God, and what is my house, that You have brought me this far?
And yet this was a small thing in thine eyes, O God; for thou hast also spoken of thy servant’s house for a great while to come, and hast regarded me according to the estate of a man of high degree, O LORD God.
And as if this was a small thing in Your eyes, O God, You have spoken about the future of the house of Your servant and have regarded me as a man of great distinction, O LORD God.
Therefore now, LORD, let the thing that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant and concerning his house be established for ever, and do as thou hast said.
And now, O LORD, let the word You have spoken concerning Your servant and his
house be established
forever. Do as You have promised,
Let it even be established, that thy name may be
magnified for ever, saying, The LORD of hosts is the God of Israel, even a God to Israel: and let the
house of David thy servant be established before thee.
so that Your name will be established and
magnified forever when it is said, ‘The LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, is God over Israel.’ And may the
house of Your servant David be established before You.
For thou, O my God, hast told thy servant that thou
wilt build him an
house: therefore thy servant hath found in his heart to pray before thee.
For You, my God, have revealed to Your servant that You will build a house for him. Therefore Your servant has found the courage to pray before You.
Now therefore let it please thee to
bless the
house of thy servant, that it may be before thee for ever: for thou blessest, O LORD, and it shall be blessed for ever.
So now You have been pleased to
bless the
house of Your servant, that it may continue
forever before You. For You, O LORD, have blessed it, and it will be blessed
forever.”
And David said unto God, Is it not I that commanded the people to be numbered? even I it is that have
sinned and done evil indeed; but as for these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, O LORD my God, be on me, and on my father’s
house; but not on thy people, that they should be plagued.
And David said to God, “Was it not I who gave the order to count the people? I am the one who has
sinned and acted wickedly. But these sheep, what have they done? O LORD my God, please let Your hand fall upon me and my father’s
house, but do not let this plague remain upon Your people.”
Then David said, This is the house of the LORD God, and this is the altar of the burnt offering for Israel.
Then David said, “Here shall be the house of the LORD God, as well as the altar of burnt offering for Israel.”
And David commanded to gather together the strangers that were in the land of Israel; and he set masons to
hew wrought stones to build the
house of God.
So David gave orders to gather the foreigners in the land of Israel, from whom he appointed stonecutters to prepare finished stones for building the house of God.
And David said, Solomon my son is young and tender, and the
house that is to be builded for the LORD must be exceeding
magnifical, of fame and of glory throughout all countries: I will therefore now make preparation for it. So David prepared abundantly before his death.
And David said, “My son Solomon is young and inexperienced, and the
house to be built for the LORD must be exceedingly magnificent—famous and glorious throughout all lands. Therefore I must make preparations for it.” So David made
lavish preparations before his death.
Then he called for Solomon his son, and charged him to build an house for the LORD God of Israel.
Then David called for his son Solomon and
instructed him to build a
house for the LORD, the God of Israel.
And David said to Solomon, My son, as for me, it was in my mind to build an house unto the name of the LORD my God:
“My son,” said David to Solomon, “it was in my heart to build a house for the Name of the LORD my God,
But the word of the LORD came to me, saying, Thou hast shed blood abundantly, and hast made great wars: thou shalt not build an house unto my name, because thou hast shed much blood upon the earth in my sight.
but this word of the LORD came to me: ‘You have shed much blood and
waged great wars. You are not to build a
house for My Name because you have shed so much blood on the ground before Me.
He shall build an house for my name; and he shall be my son, and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever.
He is the one who will build a
house for My Name. He will be My son, and I will be his Father. And I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel
forever.’
Now, my son, the LORD be with thee; and
prosper thou, and build the
house of the LORD thy God, as he hath said of thee.
Now, my son, may the LORD be with you, and may you succeed in building the house of the LORD your God, as He said you would.
Now, behold, in my trouble I have prepared for the
house of the LORD an hundred thousand talents of gold, and a thousand thousand talents of silver; and of brass and iron without weight; for it is in abundance: timber also and stone have I prepared; and thou mayest add
thereto.
Now behold, I have taken great pains to provide for the
house of the LORD—100,000 talents of gold, 1,000,000 talents of silver, and bronze and iron too great to be
weighed. I have also provided timber and stone, and you may add to them.
Now set your heart and your soul to seek the LORD your God; arise therefore, and build ye the sanctuary of the LORD God, to bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and the holy vessels of God, into the house that is to be built to the name of the LORD.
Now set your heart and soul to seek the LORD your God. Get started building the sanctuary of the LORD God, so that you may bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD and the holy articles of God into the temple that will be built for the Name of the LORD.”
Of which, twenty and four thousand were to set forward the work of the house of the LORD; and six thousand were officers and judges:
“Of these,” said David, “24,000 are to oversee the work of the house of the LORD, 6,000 are to be officers and judges,
And Jahath was the chief, and Zizah the second: but Jeush and Beriah had not many sons; therefore they were in one
reckoning, according to their father’s
house.
Jahath was the first and Zizah was the second; but Jeush and Beriah did not have many sons, so they were counted as one family and received a single
assignment.
These were the sons of Levi after the house of their fathers; even the chief of the fathers, as they were counted by number of names by their polls, that did the work for the service of the house of the LORD, from the age of twenty years and upward.
These were the descendants of Levi by their families—the heads of families, registered individually by name—those twenty years of age or older who worked in the service of the house of the LORD.
Because their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the
house of the LORD, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the
purifying of all holy things, and the work of the service of the
house of God;
but their duty was to assist the descendants of Aaron with the service of the
house of the LORD, being responsible for the courts and chambers, the
purification of all the holy things, and the work of the service of the
house of God,
And that they should keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of the holy place, and the charge of the sons of Aaron their brethren, in the service of the house of the LORD.
So the Levites were to carry out the responsibilities for the Tent of Meeting and the Holy Place, and, under their brothers the descendants of Aaron, the service of the house of the LORD.
And there were more chief men found of the sons of
Eleazar than of the sons of
Ithamar; and thus were they divided. Among the sons of
Eleazar there were sixteen chief men of the
house of their fathers, and eight among the sons of
Ithamar according to the
house of their fathers.
Since more leaders were found among
Eleazar’s descendants than those of
Ithamar, they were divided accordingly. There were sixteen heads of families from the descendants of
Eleazar and eight from the descendants of
Ithamar.
Thus were they divided by lot, one sort with another; for the governors of the sanctuary, and governors of the
house of God, were of the sons of
Eleazar, and of the sons of
Ithamar.
Thus they were divided by lot, for there were officers of the sanctuary and officers of God among both
Eleazar’s and
Ithamar’s descendants.
And Shemaiah the son of Nethaneel the
scribe, one of the Levites, wrote them before the king, and the princes, and
Zadok the priest, and
Ahimelech the son of
Abiathar, and before the chief of the fathers of the priests and Levites: one principal
household being taken for
Eleazar, and one taken for
Ithamar.
The
scribe, Shemaiah son of Nethanel, a
Levite, recorded their names in the presence of the king and of the officers:
Zadok the priest,
Ahimelech son of
Abiathar, and the heads of families of the priests and the Levites—one family being taken from
Eleazar, and then one from
Ithamar.
These were the orderings of them in their service to come into the house of the LORD, according to their manner, under Aaron their father, as the LORD God of Israel had commanded him.
This was their appointed order for service when they entered the
house of the LORD, according to the regulations prescribed for them by their
forefather Aaron, as the LORD, the God of Israel, had commanded him.
The sons also of Mushi; Mahli, and Eder, and Jerimoth. These were the sons of the Levites after the house of their fathers.
And the sons of Mushi: Mahli, Eder, and Jerimoth. These were the sons of the Levites, according to their families.
All these were under the hands of their father for song in the
house of the LORD, with cymbals,
psalteries, and harps, for the service of the
house of God, according to the king’s order to
Asaph,
Jeduthun, and Heman.
All these were under the direction of their fathers for the music of the
house of the LORD with cymbals, harps, and lyres, for the service of the
house of God.
Asaph,
Jeduthun, and Heman were under the direction of the king.
Also unto Shemaiah his son were sons born, that ruled throughout the house of their father: for they were mighty men of valour.
Also to his son Shemaiah were born sons who ruled over their families because they were strong, capable men.
Among these were the divisions of the
porters, even among the chief men, having wards one against another, to minister in the
house of the LORD.
These divisions of the gatekeepers, through their chief men, had duties for ministering in the house of the LORD, just as their brothers did.
And they cast lots, as well the small as the great, according to the house of their fathers, for every gate.
They cast lots for each gate, according to their families, young and old alike.
To Obed-
edom southward; and to his sons the
house of
Asuppim.
The lot for the South Gate fell to Obed-
edom, and the lot for the storehouses to his sons.
And of the Levites,
Ahijah was over the treasures of the
house of God, and over the treasures of the dedicated things.
Now their fellow Levites were in charge of the
treasuries of the
house of God and the
treasuries of the dedicated things.
The sons of Jehieli; Zetham, and
Joel his brother, which were over the treasures of the
house of the LORD.
the sons of Jehieli, Zetham, and his brother
Joel. They were in charge of the
treasuries of the
house of the LORD.
Out of the spoils won in battles did they
dedicate to maintain the
house of the LORD.
They had dedicated some of the
plunder from their battles to the repair of the
house of the LORD.
Then David the king stood up upon his feet, and said, Hear me, my brethren, and my people: As for me, I had in mine heart to build an
house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and for the
footstool of our God, and had made ready for the building:
Then King David rose to his feet and said, “
Listen to me, my brothers and my people. It was in my heart to build a
house as a resting place for the ark of the covenant of the LORD and as a
footstool for our God. I had made preparations to build it,
But God said unto me, Thou shalt not build an house for my name, because thou hast been a man of war, and hast shed blood.
but God said to me, ‘You are not to build a
house for My Name, because you are a man of war who has
spilled blood.’
Howbeit the LORD God of Israel chose me before all the
house of my father to be king over Israel for ever: for he hath chosen Judah to be the ruler; and of the
house of Judah, the
house of my father; and among the sons of my father he liked me to make me king over all Israel:
Yet the LORD, the God of Israel, chose me out of all my father’s
house to be king over Israel
forever. For He chose Judah as leader, and from the
house of Judah He chose my father’s
household, and from my father’s sons He was pleased to make me king over all Israel.
And he said unto me, Solomon thy son, he shall build my house and my courts: for I have chosen him to be my son, and I will be his father.
And He said to me, ‘Solomon your son is the one who will build My house and My courts, for I have chosen him as My son, and I will be his Father.
Take
heed now; for the LORD hath chosen thee to build an
house for the sanctuary: be strong, and do it.
Consider now that the LORD has chosen you to build a house for the sanctuary. Be strong and do it.”
Then David gave to Solomon his son the pattern of the
porch, and of the
houses thereof, and of the
treasuries thereof, and of the upper chambers thereof, and of the inner parlours thereof, and of the place of the mercy seat,
Then David gave his son Solomon the plans for the
portico of the temple, its buildings, storehouses, upper rooms, inner rooms, and the room for the mercy seat.
And the pattern of all that he had by the spirit, of the courts of the
house of the LORD, and of all the chambers round about, of the
treasuries of the
house of God, and of the
treasuries of the dedicated things:
The plans contained everything David had in mind for the courts of the
house of the LORD, for all the surrounding rooms, for the
treasuries of the
house of God and of the dedicated things,
Also for the courses of the priests and the Levites, and for all the work of the service of the house of the LORD, and for all the vessels of service in the house of the LORD.
for the divisions of the priests and Levites, for all the work of service in the house of the LORD, and for all the articles of service in the house of the LORD:
And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the LORD God, even my God, will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor
forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the
house of the LORD.
David also said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and
courageous, and do it. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will neither fail you nor
forsake you before all the work for the service of the
house of the LORD is finished.
And, behold, the courses of the priests and the Levites, even they shall be with thee for all the service of the
house of God: and there shall be with thee for all manner of
workmanship every willing skilful man, for any manner of service: also the princes and all the people will be wholly at thy commandment.
The divisions of the priests and Levites are ready for all the service of the
house of God, and every willing man of every skill will be at your
disposal for the work. The officials and all the people are fully at your command.”
Now I have prepared with all my might for the
house of my God the gold for things to be made of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and the brass for things of brass, the iron for things of iron, and wood for things of wood;
onyx stones, and stones to be set,
glistering stones, and of
divers colours, and all manner of precious stones, and marble stones in abundance.
Now with all my ability I have made provision for the
house of my God—gold for the gold articles, silver for the silver, bronze for the bronze, iron for the iron, and wood for the wood, as well as
onyx for the settings,
turquoise, stones of various colors, all kinds of precious stones, and slabs of marble—all in abundance.
Moreover, because I have set my affection to the house of my God, I have of mine own proper good, of gold and silver, which I have given to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house,
Moreover, because of my delight in the house of my God, I now give for it my personal treasures of gold and silver, over and above all that I have provided for this holy temple:
Even three thousand talents of gold, of the gold of
Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the
houses withal:
three thousand talents of gold (the gold of
Ophir) and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the buildings,
Then the chief of the fathers and princes of the tribes of Israel, and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, with the rulers of the king’s work, offered willingly,
Then the leaders of the households, the officers of the tribes of Israel, the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and the officials in charge of the king’s work gave willingly.
And gave for the service of the house of God of gold five thousand talents and ten thousand drams, and of silver ten thousand talents, and of brass eighteen thousand talents, and one hundred thousand talents of iron.
Toward the service of God’s house they gave 5,000 talents and 10,000 darics of gold, 10,000 talents of silver, 18,000 talents of bronze, and 100,000 talents of iron.
And they with whom precious stones were found gave them to the
treasure of the
house of the LORD, by the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite.
Whoever had precious stones gave them to the treasury of the
house of the LORD, under the care of Jehiel the Gershonite.
O LORD our God, all this store that we have prepared to build thee an house for thine holy name cometh of thine hand, and is all thine own.
O LORD our God, from Your hand comes all this abundance that we have provided to build You a house for Your holy Name, and all of it belongs to You.
And Solomon determined to build an house for the name of the LORD, and an house for his kingdom.
Now Solomon purposed to build a house for the Name of the LORD and a royal palace for himself.
And Solomon sent to Huram the king of Tyre, saying, As thou
didst deal with David my father, and
didst send him cedars to build him an
house to dwell therein, even so deal with me.
Then Solomon sent word to
Hiram king of Tyre: “Do for me as you did for my father David when you sent him cedars to build himself a
house to live in.
Behold, I build an
house to the name of the LORD my God, to
dedicate it to him, and to burn before him sweet incense, and for the continual
shewbread, and for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts of the LORD our God. This is an
ordinance for ever to Israel.
Behold, I am about to build a
house for the Name of the LORD my God to
dedicate to Him for burning
fragrant incense before Him, for displaying the
showbread continuously, and for making burnt offerings every morning and evening as well as on the Sabbaths, New Moons, and appointed feasts of the LORD our God. This is ordained for Israel
forever.
And the house which I build is great: for great is our God above all gods.
The house that I am building will be great, for our God is greater than all gods.
But who is able to build him an house, seeing the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain him? who am I then, that I should build him an house, save only to burn sacrifice before him?
But who is able to build a house for Him, since the heavens, even the highest heavens, cannot contain Him? Who then am I, that I should build a house for Him, except as a place to burn sacrifices before Him?
Even to prepare me timber in abundance: for the house which I am about to build shall be wonderful great.
to prepare for me timber in abundance, because the temple I am building will be great and wonderful.
Huram said moreover, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, that made heaven and earth, who hath given to David the king a wise son,
endued with
prudence and understanding, that might build an
house for the LORD, and an
house for his kingdom.
And
Hiram added: “Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who made the heavens and the earth! He has given King David a wise son with insight and understanding, who will build a temple for the LORD and a royal palace for himself.
Then Solomon began to build the
house of the LORD at Jerusalem in mount
Moriah, where the LORD appeared unto David his father, in the place that David had prepared in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.
Then Solomon began to build the
house of the LORD in Jerusalem on Mount
Moriah, where the LORD had appeared to his father David. This was the place that David had prepared on the
threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
Now these are the things wherein Solomon was
instructed for the building of the
house of God. The length by cubits after the first measure was
threescore cubits, and the breadth twenty cubits.
The foundation that Solomon laid for the house of God was sixty cubits long and twenty cubits wide, according to the old standard.
And the
porch that was in the front of the
house, the length of it was according to the breadth of the
house, twenty cubits, and the height was an hundred and twenty: and he overlaid it within with pure gold.
The
portico at the front, extending across the width of the temple, was twenty cubits long and twenty cubits high. He overlaid the inside with pure gold.
And the greater
house he cieled with
fir tree, which he overlaid with fine gold, and set
thereon palm trees and chains.
He
paneled the main room with
cypress, which he overlaid with fine gold and decorated with palm trees and chains.
And he
garnished the
house with precious stones for beauty: and the gold was gold of Parvaim.
He adorned the temple with precious stones for beauty, and its gold was from Parvaim.
He overlaid also the house, the beams, the posts, and the walls thereof, and the doors thereof, with gold; and graved cherubims on the walls.
He overlaid its beams, thresholds, walls, and doors with gold, and he carved
cherubim on the walls.
And he made the most holy
house, the length
whereof was according to the breadth of the
house, twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof twenty cubits: and he overlaid it with fine gold, amounting to six hundred talents.
Then he made the Most Holy Place; its length corresponded to the width of the temple—twenty cubits long and twenty cubits wide. And he overlaid the inside with six hundred talents of fine gold.
And in the most holy house he made two cherubims of image work, and overlaid them with gold.
In the Most Holy Place he made two
cherubim of sculptured work, and he overlaid them with gold.
And the wings of the cherubims were twenty cubits long: one wing of the one
cherub was five cubits, reaching to the wall of the
house: and the other wing was likewise five cubits, reaching to the wing of the other
cherub.
The total wingspan of the
cherubim was twenty cubits. One wing of the first
cherub was five cubits long and touched the wall of the temple, and its other wing was five cubits long and touched the wing of the other
cherub.
And one wing of the other
cherub was five cubits, reaching to the wall of the
house: and the other wing was five cubits also, joining to the wing of the other
cherub.
The wing of the second
cherub also measured five cubits and touched the wall of the temple, while its other wing measured five cubits and touched the wing of the first
cherub.
Also he made before the
house two pillars of thirty and five cubits high, and the
chapiter that was on the top of each of them was five cubits.
In front of the temple he made two pillars, which together were thirty-five cubits high, each with a capital on top measuring five cubits.
And Huram made the pots, and the shovels, and the basons. And Huram finished the work that he was to make for king Solomon for the house of God;
Additionally, Huram made the pots, shovels, and
sprinkling bowls. So Huram finished the work that he had undertaken for King Solomon in the
house of God:
The pots also, and the shovels, and the fleshhooks, and all their instruments, did Huram his father make to king Solomon for the house of the LORD of bright brass.
and the pots, shovels, meat forks, and all the other articles. All these objects that Huram-abi made for King Solomon for the house of the LORD were of polished bronze.
And Solomon made all the vessels that were for the
house of God, the golden altar also, and the tables
whereon the
shewbread was set;
Solomon also made all the furnishings for the house of God: the golden altar; the tables on which was placed the Bread of the Presence;
And the
snuffers, and the basons, and the spoons, and the censers, of pure gold: and the entry of the
house, the inner doors thereof for the most holy place, and the doors of the
house of the temple, were of gold.
the
wick trimmers,
sprinkling bowls, ladles, and censers of purest gold; and the gold doors of the temple: the inner doors to the Most Holy Place as well as the doors of the main hall.
Thus all the work that Solomon made for the house of the LORD was finished: and Solomon brought in all the things that David his father had dedicated; and the silver, and the gold, and all the instruments, put he among the treasures of the house of God.
So all the work that Solomon had performed for the
house of the LORD was completed. Then Solomon brought in the items his father David had dedicated—the silver, the gold, and all the furnishings—and he placed them in the
treasuries of the
house of God.
And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the LORD unto his place, to the
oracle of the
house, into the most holy place, even under the wings of the cherubims:
Then the priests brought the ark of the covenant of the LORD to its place in the inner sanctuary of the temple, the Most Holy Place, beneath the wings of the
cherubim.
It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and
thanking the LORD; and when they lifted up their voice with the
trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the
house was filled with a cloud, even the
house of the LORD;
The trumpeters and singers joined together to praise and
thank the LORD with one voice. They lifted up their voices, accompanied by
trumpets, cymbals, and musical instruments, in praise to the LORD: “For He is good; His loving devotion endures
forever.” And the temple, the
house of the LORD, was filled with a cloud
So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of God.
so that the priests could not stand there to minister because of the cloud; for the glory of the LORD filled the house of God.
But I have built an
house of
habitation for thee, and a place for thy dwelling for ever.
and I have built You an
exalted house, a place for You to dwell
forever.”
Since the day that I brought forth my people out of the land of Egypt I chose no city among all the tribes of Israel to build an house in, that my name might be there; neither chose I any man to be a ruler over my people Israel:
‘Since the day I brought My people out of the land of Egypt, I have not chosen a city from any tribe of Israel in which to build a
house so that My Name would be there, nor have I chosen
anyone to be ruler over My people Israel.
Now it was in the heart of David my father to build an house for the name of the LORD God of Israel.
Now it was in the heart of my father David to build a house for the Name of the LORD, the God of Israel.
But the LORD said to David my father,
Forasmuch as it was in thine heart to build an
house for my name, thou
didst well in that it was in thine heart:
But the LORD said to my father David, ‘Since it was in your heart to build a house for My Name, you have done well to have this in your heart.
Notwithstanding thou shalt not build the house; but thy son which shall come forth out of thy loins, he shall build the house for my name.
Nevertheless, you are not the one to build it; but your son, your own offspring, will build the house for My Name.’
The LORD therefore hath performed his word that he hath spoken: for I am risen up in the room of David my father, and am set on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised, and have built the house for the name of the LORD God of Israel.
Now the LORD has fulfilled the word that He spoke. I have succeeded my father David, and I sit on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised. I have built the house for the Name of the LORD, the God of Israel.
But will God in very deed dwell with men on the earth? behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house which I have built!
But will God indeed dwell with man upon the earth? Even heaven, the highest heaven, cannot contain You, much less this temple I have built.
That thine eyes may be open upon this
house day and night, upon the place
whereof thou hast said that thou wouldest put thy name there; to
hearken unto the prayer which thy servant prayeth toward this place.
May Your eyes be open toward this temple day and night, toward the place where You said You would put Your Name, so that You may hear the prayer that Your servant prays toward this place.
If a man sin against his neighbour, and an oath be laid upon him to make him
swear, and the oath come before thine altar in this
house;
When a man sins against his
neighbor and is required to take an oath, and he comes to take an oath before Your altar in this temple,
And if thy people Israel be put to the worse before the enemy, because they have
sinned against thee; and shall return and
confess thy name, and pray and make
supplication before thee in this
house;
When Your people Israel are defeated before an enemy because they have
sinned against You, and they return to You and
confess Your name, praying and
pleading before You in this temple,
Then what prayer or what
supplication soever shall be made of any man, or of all thy people Israel, when every one shall know his own
sore and his own grief, and shall spread forth his hands in this
house:
then may whatever prayer or petition Your people Israel make—each knowing his own afflictions and spreading out his hands toward this temple—
Moreover concerning the stranger, which is not of thy people Israel, but is come from a far country for thy great name’s sake, and thy mighty hand, and thy stretched out arm; if they come and pray in this house;
And as for the foreigner who is not of Your people Israel but has come from a distant land because of Your great name and Your mighty hand and outstretched arm—when he comes and prays toward this temple,
Then hear thou from the heavens, even from thy dwelling place, and do according to all that the stranger calleth to thee for; that all people of the earth may know thy name, and fear thee, as
doth thy people Israel, and may know that this
house which I have built is called by thy name.
then may You hear from heaven, Your dwelling place, and do according to all for which the foreigner calls to You. Then all the peoples of the earth will know Your name and fear You, as do Your people Israel, and they will know that this house I have built is called by Your Name.
If thy people go out to war against their enemies by the way that thou shalt send them, and they pray unto thee toward this city which thou hast chosen, and the house which I have built for thy name;
When Your people go to war against their enemies, wherever You send them, and when they pray to You in the direction of the city You have chosen and the house I have built for Your Name,
If they return to thee with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their captivity,
whither they have carried them
captives, and pray toward their land, which thou gavest unto their fathers, and toward the city which thou hast chosen, and toward the
house which I have built for thy name:
and when they return to You with all their heart and soul in the land of the enemies who took them
captive, and when they pray in the direction of the land that You gave to their fathers, the city You have chosen, and the
house I have built for Your Name,
Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the LORD filled the house.
When Solomon had finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the LORD filled the temple.
And the priests could not enter into the house of the LORD, because the glory of the LORD had filled the LORD’S house.
The priests were unable to enter the house of the LORD, because the glory of the LORD had filled it.
And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the LORD upon the
house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the
pavement, and worshipped, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.
When all the Israelites saw the fire coming down and the glory of the LORD above the temple, they bowed down on the
pavement with their faces to the ground, and they worshiped and gave
thanks to the LORD: “For He is good; His loving devotion endures
forever.”
And king Solomon offered a sacrifice of twenty and two thousand oxen, and an hundred and twenty thousand sheep: so the king and all the people dedicated the house of God.
And King Solomon offered a sacrifice of 22,000 oxen and 120,000 sheep. So the king and all the people dedicated the house of God.
Moreover Solomon
hallowed the middle of the court that was before the
house of the LORD: for there he offered burnt offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings, because the
brasen altar which Solomon had made was not able to receive the burnt offerings, and the meat offerings, and the fat.
Then Solomon consecrated the middle of the
courtyard in front of the
house of the LORD, and there he offered the burnt offerings and the fat of the peace offerings, since the bronze altar he had made could not contain all these offerings.
Thus Solomon finished the house of the LORD, and the king’s house: and all that came into Solomon’s heart to make in the house of the LORD, and in his own house, he prosperously effected.
When Solomon had finished the house of the LORD and the royal palace, successfully carrying out all that was in his heart to do for the house of the LORD and for his own palace,
