Blessed be the God and Father of our
Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath
begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
but the word of the
Lord stands
forever.” And this is the word that was proclaimed to you.
If so be ye have tasted that the
Lord is
gracious.
now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.
Submit
yourselves to every
ordinance of man for the
Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
Submit
yourselves for the
Lord’s sake to every human institution, whether to the king as the supreme authority,
Even as
Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him
lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any
amazement.
just as
Sarah obeyed Abraham and called him
lord. And you are her children if you do what is right and refuse to give way to fear.
For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.
For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are inclined to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”
But
sanctify the
Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with
meekness and fear:
But in your hearts
sanctify Christ as
Lord. Always be prepared to give a
defense to
everyone who asks you the reason for the hope that is in you. But
respond with gentleness and respect,
Neither as being
lords over God’s
heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.
not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.
Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
Grace and peace be multiplied to you through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.
For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
For if you possess these qualities and continue to grow in them, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the
everlasting kingdom of our
Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
and you will receive a
lavish reception into the eternal kingdom of our
Lord and
Savior Jesus Christ.
Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me.
because I know that this tent will soon be laid aside, as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me.
For we have not followed
cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our
Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
For we did not follow
cleverly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our
Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty.
But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who
privily shall bring in
damnable heresies, even denying the
Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
Now there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive
heresies, even denying the Master who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves.
The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:
if all this is so, then the
Lord knows how to
rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment.
Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing
accusation against them before the
Lord.
Yet not even angels, though greater in strength and power,
dare to bring such
slanderous charges against them before the
Lord.
For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the
Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again
entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
If indeed they have escaped the corruption of the world through the knowledge of our
Lord and
Savior Jesus Christ, only to be
entangled and overcome by it again, their final condition is worse than it was at first.
That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
by recalling what was
foretold by the holy prophets and commanded by our
Lord and
Savior through your apostles.
But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
Beloved, do not let this one thing escape your notice: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.
The
Lord is not slow in keeping His promise as some understand slowness, but is patient with you, not wanting
anyone to perish but
everyone to come to
repentance.
But the day of the
Lord will come as a
thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall
melt with
fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
But the Day of the
Lord will come like a
thief. The heavens will disappear with a
roar, the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and its works will be laid bare.
And account that the
longsuffering of our
Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
Consider also that our
Lord’s
patience brings salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom God gave him.
But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our
Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever.
Amen.
But grow in the grace and knowledge of our
Lord and
Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and to the day of
eternity.
Amen.
Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.
Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, will be with us in truth and love.
For there are certain men
crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this
condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into
lasciviousness, and denying the only
Lord God, and our
Lord Jesus Christ.
For certain men have
crept in among you unnoticed—ungodly ones who were designated long ago for
condemnation. They turn the grace of our God into a
license for immorality, and they deny our only Master and
Lord, Jesus Christ.
I will therefore put you in
remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the
Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.
Although you are fully aware of this, I want to remind you that after Jesus had delivered His people out of the land of Egypt, He destroyed those who did not believe.
But even the
archangel Michael, when he disputed with the devil over the body of Moses, did not
presume to bring a
slanderous charge against him, but said, “The
Lord rebuke you!”
And
Enoch also, the seventh from Adam,
prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the
Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,
Enoch, the seventh from Adam, also
prophesied about them: “Behold, the
Lord is coming with myriads of His holy ones
But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;
But you, beloved, remember what was
foretold by the apostles of our
Lord Jesus Christ
Keep
yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our
Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
keep
yourselves in the love of God as you
await the mercy of our
Lord Jesus Christ to bring you eternal life.
To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever.
Amen.
to the only God our
Savior be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority through Jesus Christ our
Lord before all time, and now, and for all
eternity.
Amen.
I am
Alpha and
Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the
Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the
Almighty.
“I am the
Alpha and the
Omega,” says the
Lord God, who is and was and is to come—the
Almighty.
I was in the Spirit on the
Lord’s day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a
trumpet,
On the
Lord’s day I was in the Spirit, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a
trumpet,
And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy,
Lord God
Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.
And each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around and within. Day and night they never stop saying: “Holy, Holy, Holy, is the
Lord God
Almighty, who was and is and is to come!”
Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
“Worthy are You, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for You created all things; by Your will they exist and came to be.”
And they
cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O
Lord, holy and true,
dost thou not judge and
avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?
And they
cried out in a loud voice, “How long, O
Lord, holy and true, until You
avenge our blood and judge those who dwell upon the earth?”
These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.
These witnesses are the two olive trees and the two lampstands that stand before the Lord of the earth.
And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called
Sodom and Egypt, where also our
Lord was
crucified.
And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.
Then the seventh angel sounded his
trumpet, and loud voices called out in heaven: “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our
Lord and of His Christ, and He will reign
forever and ever.”
Saying, We give thee
thanks, O
Lord God
Almighty, which art, and
wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned.
saying: “We give
thanks to You, O
Lord God
Almighty, the One who is and who was, because You have taken Your great power and have begun to reign.
And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the
Lord from henceforth:
Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.
And I heard a voice from heaven telling me to write, “Blessed are the dead—those who die in the
Lord from this moment on.” “
Yes,” says the Spirit, “they will rest from their labors, for their deeds will follow them.”
And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works,
Lord God
Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.
and they
sang the song of God’s servant Moses and of the Lamb: “Great and wonderful are Your works, O
Lord God
Almighty! Just and true are Your ways, O King of the nations!
Who shall not fear thee, O
Lord, and
glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.
Who will not fear You, O
Lord, and
glorify Your name? For You alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before You, for Your righteous acts have been revealed.”
And I heard the angel of the waters say, Thou art righteous, O
Lord, which art, and
wast, and shalt be, because thou hast judged thus.
And I heard the angel of the waters say: “Righteous are You, O Holy One, who is and was, because You have brought these judgments.
And I heard another out of the altar say, Even so,
Lord God
Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments.
And I heard the altar reply: “
Yes,
Lord God
Almighty, true and just are Your judgments.”
These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
They will make war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will triumph over them, because He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and He will be accompanied by His called and chosen and faithful ones.”
Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and
mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the
Lord God who judgeth her.
Therefore her plagues will come in one day— death and grief and famine— and she will be consumed by fire, for mighty is the Lord God who judges her.”
And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying,
Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the
Lord our God:
After this I heard a sound like the
roar of a great multitude in heaven,
shouting: “
Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God!
And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying,
Alleluia: for the
Lord God
omnipotent reigneth.
And he hath on his
vesture and on his
thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND
LORD OF
LORDS.
And He has a name written on His
robe and on His
thigh: KING OF KINGS AND
LORD OF
LORDS.
And I saw no temple therein: for the
Lord God
Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.
But I saw no temple in the city, because the
Lord God
Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.
And there shall be no night there; and they need no
candle, neither light of the sun; for the
Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.
There will be no more night in the city, and they will have no need for the light of a lamp or of the sun. For the
Lord God will
shine on them, and they will reign
forever and ever.
And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the
Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to
shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done.
Then the angel said to me, “These words are faithful and true. The Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, has sent His angel to show His servants what must soon take place.”
He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly.
Amen. Even so, come,
Lord Jesus.
He who testifies to these things says, “
Yes, I am coming soon.”
Amen. Come,
Lord Jesus!
The grace of our
Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
Amen.
The grace of the
Lord Jesus be with all the saints.
Amen.
And Josias held the feast of the
passover in Jerusalem unto his
Lord, and offered the
passover the
fourteenth day of the first month;
Having set the priests according to their daily courses, being
arrayed in long garments, in the temple of the
Lord.
And he spake unto the Levites, the holy ministers of Israel, that they should
hallow themselves unto the
Lord, to set the holy ark of the
Lord in the house that king Solomon the son of David had built:
And said, Ye shall no more bear the ark upon your shoulders: now therefore serve the Lord your God, and minister unto his people Israel, and prepare you after your families and kindreds,
Offer the
passover in order, and make ready the sacrifices for your brethren, and keep the
passover according to the commandment of the
Lord, which was given unto Moses.
And according to the several
dignities of the fathers, before the people, to offer to the
Lord, as it is written in the book of Moses: and thus did they in the morning.
Thus were the things that belonged to the sacrifices of the
Lord accomplished in that day, that they might hold the
passover,
And offer sacrifices upon the altar of the Lord, according to the commandment of king Josias.
And the works or Josias were upright before his
Lord with an heart full of
godliness.
As for the things that came to pass in his time, they were written in former times, concerning those that
sinned, and did wickedly against the
Lord above all people and kingdoms, and how they
grieved him exceedingly, so that the words of the
Lord rose up against Israel.
I am not sent out from the
Lord God against thee; for my war is upon Euphrates: and now the
Lord is with me,
yea, the
Lord is with me hasting me forward: depart from me, and be not against the
Lord.
Howbeit Josias did not turn back his
chariot from him, but undertook to fight with him, not regarding the words of the prophet Jeremy spoken by the mouth of the
Lord:
These things are written in the book of the stories of the kings of Judah, and every one of the acts that Josias did, and his glory, and his understanding in the law of the
Lord, and the things that he had done before, and the things now recited, are reported in the book of the kings of Israel and
Judea.
Five and twenty years old was Joacim when he was made king in the land of
Judea and Jerusalem; and he did evil before the
Lord.
Nabuchodonosor also took of the holy vessels of the Lord, and carried them away, and set them in his own temple at Babylon.
And reigned but three months and ten days in Jerusalem; and did evil before the Lord.
So after a year Nabuchodonosor sent and caused him to be brought into Babylon with the holy vessels of the Lord;
And he did evil also in the sight of the Lord, and cared not for the words that were spoken unto him by the prophet Jeremy from the mouth of the Lord.
And after that king Nabuchodonosor had made him to
swear by the name of the
Lord, he
forswore himself, and rebelled; and
hardening his neck, his heart, he
transgressed the laws of the
Lord God of Israel.
The governors also of the people and of the priests did many things against the laws, and passed all the pollutions of all nations, and
defiled the temple of the
Lord, which was
sanctified in Jerusalem.
But they had his messengers in
derision; and, look, when the
Lord spake unto them, they made a
sport of his prophets:
And they took all the holy vessels of the Lord, both great and small, with the vessels of the ark of God, and the king’s treasures, and carried them away into Babylon.
As for the house of the
Lord, they burnt it, and
brake down the walls of Jerusalem, and set fire upon her towers:
Who became servants to him and his children, till the Persians reigned, to fulfil the word of the Lord spoken by the mouth of Jeremy:
In the first year of Cyrus king of the Persians, that the word of the Lord might be accomplished, that he had promised by the mouth of Jeremy;
The
Lord raised up the spirit of Cyrus the king of the Persians, and he made
proclamation through all his kingdom, and also by writing,
Saying, Thus saith Cyrus king of the Persians; The Lord of Israel, the most high Lord, hath made me king of the whole world,
If therefore there be any of you that are of his people, let the
Lord, even his
Lord, be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem that is in
Judea, and build the house of the
Lord of Israel: for he is the
Lord that dwelleth in Jerusalem.
With gifts, with horses, and with cattle, and other things, which have been set forth by
vow, for the temple of the
Lord at Jerusalem.
Then the chief of the families of
Judea and of the tribe of Benjamin stood up; the priests also, and the Levites, and all they whose mind the
Lord had moved to go up, and to build an house for the
Lord at Jerusalem,
To king Artexerxes our
lord, Thy servants, Rathumus the storywriter, and Semellius the
scribe, and the rest of their council, and the judges that are in Celosyria and Phenice.
Be it now known to the
lord king, that the Jews that are up from you to us, being come into Jerusalem, that
rebellious and wicked city, do build the marketplaces, and repair the walls of it and do lay the foundation of the temple.
But to speak unto our lord the king, to the intent that, if it be thy pleasure it may be sought out in the books of thy fathers:
Wherefore now we do declare unto thee, O
lord the king, that if this city be built again, and the walls thereof set up
anew, thou shalt from henceforth have no passage into Celosyria and Phenice.
But yet the king is more mighty: for he is
lord of all these things, and hath dominion over them; and
whatsoever he commandeth them they do.
O ye men, it is not the great king, nor the multitude of men, neither is it wine, that excelleth; who is it then that ruleth them, or hath the
lordship over them? are they not women?
And now, O
lord the king, this is that which I require, and which I desire of thee, and this is the princely
liberality proceeding from
thyself: I desire therefore that thou make good the
vow, the performance
whereof with thine own mouth thou hast
vowed to the King of heaven.
Blessed art thou, who hast given me wisdom: for to thee I give
thanks, O
Lord of our fathers.
And there were gathered unto them out of the other nations of the land, and they erected the altar upon his own place, because all the nations of the land were at
enmity with them, and
oppressed them; and they offered sacrifices according to the time, and burnt offerings to the
Lord both morning and evening.
And all they that had made any
vow to God began to offer sacrifices to God from the first day of the seventh month, although the temple of the
Lord was not yet built.
And they appointed the Levites from twenty years old over the works of the
Lord. Then stood up Jesus, and his sons and brethren, and Cadmiel his brother, and the sons of Madiabun, with the sons of Joda the son of Eliadun, with their sons and brethren, all Levites, with one
accord setters forward of the business, labouring to advance the works in the house of God. So the workmen built the temple of the
Lord.
Singing songs of
thanksgiving, and praising the
Lord, according as David the king of Israel had ordained.
And they sung with loud voices songs to the praise of the Lord, because his mercy and glory is for ever in all Israel.
And all the people sounded
trumpets, and
shouted with a loud voice, singing songs of
thanksgiving unto the
Lord for the rearing up of the house of the
Lord.
And they perceived that they that were of the captivity did build the temple unto the Lord God of Israel.
