bless thee out of
Zion: and thou shalt see the good of Jerusalem all the days of thy
life.

As the
dew of
Hermon, and as the
dew that descended upon the mountains of

doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul,
doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?

I sought in mine heart to give myself unto wine, yet
acquainting mine heart with wisdom; and to lay hold on folly, till I might see what was that good for the sons of men, which they should do under the heaven all the days of their
life.
I sought to
cheer my body with wine and to embrace folly—my mind still guiding me with wisdom—until I could see what was
worthwhile for men to do under heaven during the few days of their lives.
Therefore I
hated life; because the work that is wrought under the sun is
grievous unto me: for all is vanity and
vexation of spirit.
So I
hated life, because the work that is done under the sun was
grievous to me. For everything is
futile and a pursuit of the wind.
I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to
rejoice, and to do good in his
life.
I know that there is nothing better for them than to
rejoice and do good while they live,
For if they fall, the one will
lift up his fellow: but
woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.

lift him up; but
pity the one who falls without another to help him up!
Behold that which I have seen: it is good and comely for one to eat and to drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labour that he taketh under the sun all the days of his life, which God giveth him: for it is his portion.
Here is what I have seen to be good and fitting: to eat and drink, and to find satisfaction in all the labor one does under the sun during the few days of life that God has given him—for this is his lot.
For he shall not much remember the days of his life; because God answereth him in the joy of his heart.

For who knoweth what is good for man in this life, all the days of his vain life which he spendeth as a shadow? for who can tell a man what shall be after him under the sun?
For who knows what is good for a man during the few days in which he passes through his fleeting life like a shadow? Who can tell a man what will come after him under the sun?
For wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence: but the

All things have I seen in the days of my vanity: there is a just man that perisheth in his righteousness, and there is a wicked man that prolongeth his life in his wickedness.

Then I
commended mirth, because a man hath no better thing under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be
merry: for that shall
abide with him of his labour the days of his
life, which God giveth him under the sun.
So I
commended the enjoyment of
life, because there is nothing better for a man under the sun than to eat and drink and be
merry. For this joy will
accompany him in his labor during the days of his
life that God gives him under the sun.
Live
joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the
life of thy vanity, which he hath given thee under the sun, all the days of thy vanity: for that is thy portion in this
life, and in thy labour which thou takest under the sun.
Enjoy life with your beloved wife all the days of the fleeting life that God has given you under the sun—all your fleeting days. For this is your portion in life and in your labor under the sun.

laughter, and wine maketh
merry: but money answereth all things.

laughter, and wine makes
life merry, but money is the answer for everything.
And he shall judge among the nations, and shall
rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not
lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
Then He will judge between the nations and
arbitrate for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into
pruning hooks. Nation will no longer take up the sword against nation, nor train anymore for war.
For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low:

And upon all the cedars of
Lebanon, that are high and
lifted up, and upon all the oaks of
Bashan,
against all the cedars of
Lebanon, lofty and
lifted up, against all the oaks of
Bashan,
And upon all the high mountains, and upon all the hills that are lifted up,
against all the tall mountains, against all the high hills,
And he will
lift up an
ensign to the nations from far, and will hiss unto them from the end of the earth: and, behold, they shall come with speed swiftly:
He
lifts a
banner for the distant nations and whistles for those at the ends of the earth. Behold—how speedily and swiftly they come!

For wickedness burneth as the fire: it shall
devour the briers and thorns, and shall
kindle in the thickets of the forest, and they shall mount up like the
lifting up of smoke.
For wickedness burns like a fire that consumes the thorns and briers and kindles the forest thickets which roll upward in billows of smoke.
Shall the
axe boast itself against him that heweth
therewith? or shall the saw
magnify itself against him that shaketh it? as if the rod should
shake itself against them that
lift it up, or as if the staff should
lift up itself, as if it were no wood.
Does an
axe raise itself above the one who swings it? Does a saw
boast over him who saws with it? It would be like a rod waving the one who
lifts it, or a staff
lifting him who is not wood!
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD of hosts, O my people that dwellest in
Zion, be not afraid of the Assyrian: he shall
smite thee with a rod, and shall
lift up his staff against thee, after the manner of Egypt.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD of Hosts says: “O My people who dwell in
Zion, do not fear Assyria, who strikes you with a rod and
lifts his staff against you as the Egyptians did.
And the LORD of hosts shall
stir up a
scourge for him according to the slaughter of
Midian at the rock of Oreb: and as his rod was upon the sea, so shall he
lift it up after the manner of Egypt.
And the LORD of Hosts will
brandish a
whip against them, as when He struck
Midian at the rock of Oreb. He will raise His staff over the sea, as He did in Egypt.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the
anointing.
On that day the burden will be lifted from your shoulders, and the yoke from your neck. The yoke will be broken because your neck will be too large.
Lift up thy voice, O daughter of Gallim: cause it to be heard unto Laish, O poor Anathoth.
Lift ye up a
banner upon the high mountain,
exalt the voice unto them,
shake the hand, that they may go into the gates of the nobles.
Raise a
banner on a barren
hilltop; call
aloud to them. Wave your hand, that they may enter the gates of the nobles.
And
Heshbon shall cry, and Elealeh: their voice shall be heard even unto Jahaz: therefore the armed soldiers of Moab shall cry out; his
life shall be
grievous unto him.

tremble within.
All ye inhabitants of the world, and dwellers on the earth, see ye, when he
lifteth up an
ensign on the mountains; and when he bloweth a
trumpet, hear ye.

banner is raised on the mountains, you will see it; when a ram’s horn sounds, you will hear it.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that Tyre shall be forgotten seventy years, according to the days of one king: after the end of seventy years shall Tyre sing as an
harlot.
At that time Tyre will be forgotten for seventy years—the span of a king’s
life. But at the end of seventy years, it will happen to Tyre as in the song of the
harlot:
They shall
lift up their voice, they shall sing for the majesty of the LORD, they shall cry
aloud from the sea.
They raise their voices, they
shout for joy; from the west they
proclaim the majesty of the LORD.
LORD, when thy hand is
lifted up, they will not see: but they shall see, and be
ashamed for their
envy at the people;
yea, the fire of thine enemies shall
devour them.
O LORD, Your hand is upraised, but they do not see it. They will see Your zeal for Your people and be put to shame. The fire set for Your enemies will
consume them!
We have been with child, we have been in pain, we have as it were brought forth wind; we have not wrought any
deliverance in the earth; neither have the inhabitants of the world fallen.
We were with child; we
writhed in pain; but we gave birth to wind. We have given no salvation to the earth, nor brought any
life into the world.
