And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open
firmament of heaven.
And God said, “Let the waters
teem with
living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the open
expanse of the sky.”
And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
So God created the great sea creatures and every
living thing that moves, with which the waters
teemed according to their kinds, and every bird of flight after its kind. And God saw that it was good.
And God said, Let the earth bring forth the
living creature after his kind, cattle, and
creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.
And God said, “Let the earth bring forth
living creatures according to their kinds:
livestock, land crawlers, and beasts of the earth according to their kinds.” And it was so.
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and
replenish the earth, and
subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every
living thing that moveth upon the earth.
God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and
subdue it; rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and every creature that crawls upon the earth.”
And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
Then the LORD God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed the breath of life into his nostrils, and the man became a living being.
And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and
whatsoever Adam called every
living creature, that was the name thereof.
And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and He brought them to the man to see what he would name each one. And whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name.
And Adam called his wife’s name
Eve; because she was the mother of all
living.
And Adam named his wife
Eve, because she would be the mother of all the
living.
And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.
And God looked upon the earth and saw that it was corrupt; for all living creatures on the earth had corrupted their ways.
And God said unto
Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.
Then God said to
Noah, “The end of all
living creatures has come before Me, because through them the earth is full of violence. Now behold, I will destroy both them and the earth.
And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female.
And you are to bring two of every living creature into the ark—male and female—to keep them alive with you.
For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.
For seven days from now I will send rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and I will
wipe from the face of the earth every
living thing I have made.”
And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the LORD shut him in.
And they entered, the male and female of every
living thing, as God had commanded
Noah. Then the LORD shut him in.
And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every
creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man:
And every
living thing that moved upon the earth perished—birds,
livestock, animals, every creature that swarms upon the earth, and all mankind.
And every
living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the
creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and
Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark.
And every
living thing on the face of the earth was destroyed—man and
livestock,
crawling creatures and birds of the air; they were
blotted out from the earth, and only
Noah and those with him in the ark remained.
And God remembered
Noah, and every
living thing, and all the cattle that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters asswaged;
But God remembered
Noah and all the animals and
livestock that were with him in the ark. And God sent a wind over the earth, and the waters began to
subside.
Bring forth with thee every
living thing that is with thee, of all flesh, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of every
creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth; that they may breed abundantly in the earth, and be fruitful, and multiply upon the earth.
Bring out all the
living creatures that are with you—birds,
livestock, and everything that crawls upon the ground—so that they can spread out over the earth and be fruitful and multiply upon it.”
Every beast, every
creeping thing, and every fowl, and
whatsoever creepeth upon the earth, after their kinds, went forth out of the ark.
Every
living creature, every
creeping thing, and every bird—everything that moves upon the earth—came out of the ark, kind by kind.
And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again
curse the ground any more for man’s sake; for the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again
smite any more every thing
living, as I have done.
When the LORD smelled the pleasing
aroma, He said in His heart, “Never again will I
curse the ground because of man, even though every inclination of his heart is evil from his youth. And never again will I destroy all
living creatures as I have done.
And the fear of you and the
dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered.
The fear and
dread of you will fall on every
living creature on the earth, every bird of the air, every creature that crawls on the ground, and all the fish of the sea. They are delivered into your hand.
And with every living creature that is with you, of the fowl, of the cattle, and of every beast of the earth with you; from all that go out of the ark, to every beast of the earth.
and with every
living creature that was with you—the birds, the
livestock, and every beast of the earth—every
living thing that came out of the ark.
And God said, This is the
token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every
living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:
And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between Me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come:
And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.
I will remember My covenant between Me and you and every living creature of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.
And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the
everlasting covenant between God and every
living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.
And whenever the
rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the
everlasting covenant between God and every
living creature of every kind that is on the earth.”
And there was a
strife between the herdmen of
Abram’s cattle and the herdmen of Lot’s cattle: and the
Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelled then in the land.
And there was discord between the herdsmen of
Abram and the herdsmen of Lot. At that time the
Canaanites and the
Perizzites were also
living in the land.
And they took Lot,
Abram’s brother’s son, who dwelt in
Sodom, and his goods, and departed.
They also carried off
Abram’s nephew Lot and his possessions, since Lot was
living in
Sodom.
And there came one that had escaped, and told
Abram the Hebrew; for he dwelt in the plain of
Mamre the Amorite, brother of
Eshcol, and brother of Aner: and these were
confederate with
Abram.
Then an escapee came and reported this to
Abram the Hebrew. Now
Abram was
living near the Oaks of
Mamre the Amorite, a brother of
Eshcol and Aner, all of whom were bound by treaty to
Abram.
And Isaac came from the way of the well Lahai-roi; for he dwelt in the south country.
Now Isaac had just returned from Beer-lahai-roi, for he was living in the Negev.
And it came to pass, when Israel dwelt in that land, that
Reuben went and lay with
Bilhah his father’s
concubine: and Israel heard it. Now the sons of Jacob were twelve:
While Israel was
living in that region,
Reuben went in and
slept with his father’s
concubine Bilhah, and Israel heard about it. Jacob had twelve sons:
These are the sons of
Seir the Horite, who inhabited the land; Lotan, and Shobal, and Zibeon, and Anah,
These are the sons of
Seir the Horite, who were
living in the land: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,
And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any
living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an
abomination unto you:
But the following among all the
teeming life and creatures in the water are
detestable to you: everything in the seas or streams that does not have fins and scales.
This is the law of the beasts, and of the fowl, and of every living creature that moveth in the waters, and of every creature that creepeth upon the earth:
This is the law regarding animals, birds, all
living creatures that move in the water, and all creatures that
crawl along the ground.
As for the
living bird, he shall take it, and the
cedar wood, and the scarlet, and the
hyssop, and shall dip them and the
living bird in the blood of the bird that was killed over the running water:
And he is to take the live bird together with the
cedar wood, scarlet yarn, and
hyssop, and dip them into the blood of the bird that was slaughtered over the fresh water.
And he shall
sprinkle upon him that is to be
cleansed from the
leprosy seven times, and shall
pronounce him clean, and shall let the
living bird loose into the open field.
Seven times he shall
sprinkle the one to be
cleansed of the skin disease. Then he shall
pronounce him clean and release the live bird into the open field.
And he shall take the
cedar wood, and the
hyssop, and the scarlet, and the
living bird, and dip them in the blood of the slain bird, and in the running water, and
sprinkle the house seven times:
Then he shall take the
cedar wood, the
hyssop, the scarlet yarn, and the live bird, dip them in the blood of the slaughtered bird and the fresh water, and
sprinkle the house seven times.
And he shall
cleanse the house with the blood of the bird, and with the running water, and with the
living bird, and with the
cedar wood, and with the
hyssop, and with the scarlet:
And he shall
cleanse the house with the bird’s blood, the fresh water, the live bird, the
cedar wood, the
hyssop, and the scarlet yarn.
But he shall let go the
living bird out of the city into the open fields, and make an
atonement for the house: and it shall be clean.
Finally, he is to release the live bird into the open fields outside the city. In this way he will make
atonement for the house, and it will be clean.
And thou shalt say unto them,
Whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers which
sojourn among you, that offereth a burnt offering of sacrifice,
Tell them that if
anyone from the house of Israel or any foreigner
living among them offers a burnt offering or a sacrifice
And
whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that
sojourn among you, that eateth any manner of blood; I will even set my face against that soul that eateth blood, and will cut him off from among his people.
If
anyone from the house of Israel or a foreigner
living among them eats any blood, I will set My face against that person and cut him off from among his people.
Therefore I said unto the children of Israel, No soul of you shall eat blood, neither shall any stranger that sojourneth among you eat blood.
Therefore I say to the Israelites, ‘None of you may eat blood, nor may any foreigner living among you eat blood.’
And
whatsoever man there be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that
sojourn among you, which hunteth and catcheth any beast or fowl that may be eaten; he shall even pour out the blood thereof, and cover it with dust.
And if any
Israelite or foreigner
living among them hunts down a wild animal or bird that may be eaten, he must
drain its blood and cover it with
dirt.
For it is the life of all flesh; the blood of it is for the life thereof: therefore I said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall eat the blood of no manner of flesh: for the life of all flesh is the blood thereof:
whosoever eateth it shall be cut off.
For the life of all flesh is its blood. Therefore I have told the Israelites, ‘You must not eat the blood of any
living thing, because the life of all flesh is its blood;
whoever eats it must be cut off.’
But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as
thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.
You must treat the foreigner
living among you as native-born and love him as
yourself, for you were foreigners in the land of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.
Again, thou shalt say to the children of Israel,
Whosoever he be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that
sojourn in Israel, that giveth any of his seed unto
Molech; he shall surely be put to death: the people of the land shall stone him with stones.
“Tell the Israelites, ‘Any
Israelite or foreigner
living in Israel who gives any of his children to
Molech must be put to death. The people of the land are to stone him.
Ye shall therefore put difference between clean beasts and unclean, and between unclean fowls and clean: and ye shall not make your souls
abominable by beast, or by fowl, or by any manner of
living thing that creepeth on the ground, which I have separated from you as unclean.
You are therefore to distinguish between clean and unclean animals and birds. Do not become
contaminated by any animal or bird, or by anything that crawls on the ground; I have set these apart as unclean for you.
Moreover of the children of the strangers that do
sojourn among you, of them shall ye
buy, and of their families that are with you, which they
begat in your land: and they shall be your possession.
You may also purchase them from the foreigners residing among you or their clans living among you who are born in your land. These may become your property.
Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of
Anak there.
Nevertheless, the people
living in the land are strong, and the cities are large and fortified. We even saw the descendants of
Anak there.
(Now the
Amalekites and the
Canaanites dwelt in the valley.) To
morrow turn you, and get you into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea.
Now since the
Amalekites and
Canaanites are
living in the valleys, turn back
tomorrow and head for the wilderness along the route to the Red Sea.”
And he stood between the dead and the living; and the plague was stayed.
He stood between the
living and the dead, and the plague was
halted.
For who is there of all flesh, that hath heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as we have, and lived?
For who of all flesh has heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the fire, as we have, and survived?
And what he did unto Dathan and
Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of
Reuben: how the earth opened her mouth, and
swallowed them up, and their households, and their tents, and all the substance that was in their possession, in the midst of all Israel:
and what He did in the midst of all the Israelites to Dathan and
Abiram, the sons of Eliab the Reubenite, when the earth opened its mouth and
swallowed them, their households, their tents, and every
living thing that belonged to them.
The stranger that is within thee shall get up above thee very high; and thou shalt come down very low.
The foreigner living among you will rise higher and higher above you, while you sink down lower and lower.
And Joshua said,
Hereby ye shall know that the
living God is among you, and that he will without fail drive out from before you the
Canaanites, and the
Hittites, and the
Hivites, and the
Perizzites, and the Girgashites, and the
Amorites, and the Jebusites.
And it came to pass at the end of three days after they had made a league with them, that they heard that they were their neighbours, and that they dwelt among them.
Three days after they had made the treaty with the Gibeonites, the Israelites learned that they were neighbors, living among them.
Now it came to pass, when Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem had heard how Joshua had taken
Ai, and had utterly destroyed it; as he had done to
Jericho and her king, so he had done to
Ai and her king; and how the inhabitants of
Gibeon had made peace with Israel, and were among them;
Now Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem heard that Joshua had captured
Ai and devoted it to destruction—doing to
Ai and its king as he had done to
Jericho and its king—and that the people of
Gibeon had made peace with Israel and were
living near them.
There was not a city that made peace with the children of Israel, save the
Hivites the inhabitants of
Gibeon: all other they took in battle.
No city made peace with the Israelites except the
Hivites living in
Gibeon; all others were taken in battle.
As for the Jebusites the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the children of Judah could not drive them out: but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Judah at Jerusalem unto this day.
But the descendants of Judah could not drive out the Jebusites living in Jerusalem. So to this day the Jebusites live there among the descendants of Judah.
And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the
Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
But if it is unpleasing in your sight to serve the LORD, then choose for
yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the
Amorites in whose land you are
living. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD!”
And afterward the children of Judah went down to fight against the
Canaanites, that dwelt in the mountain, and in the south, and in the valley.
Afterward, the men of Judah marched down to fight against the
Canaanites living in the hill country, in the Negev, and in the foothills.
And Judah went against the
Canaanites that dwelt in
Hebron: (now the name of
Hebron before was Kirjath-arba:) and they
slew Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai.
Judah also marched against the
Canaanites who were
living in
Hebron (formerly known as Kiriath-arba), and they struck down Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai.
And Judah went with
Simeon his brother, and they
slew the
Canaanites that inhabited Zephath, and utterly destroyed it. And the name of the city was called Hormah.
Then the men of Judah went with their brothers the Simeonites, attacked the
Canaanites living in Zephath, and devoted the city to destruction. So it was called Hormah.
And the children of Benjamin did not drive out the Jebusites that inhabited Jerusalem; but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Benjamin in Jerusalem unto this day.
The Benjamites, however, failed to drive out the Jebusites living in Jerusalem. So to this day the Jebusites live there among the Benjamites.
Then
Jephthah gathered together all the men of
Gilead, and fought with Ephraim: and the men of
Gilead smote Ephraim, because they said, Ye Gileadites are fugitives of Ephraim among the Ephraimites, and among the Manassites.
Jephthah then gathered all the men of
Gilead and fought against Ephraim. And the men of
Gilead struck them down because the Ephraimites had said, “You Gileadites are fugitives in Ephraim,
living in the territories of Ephraim and
Manasseh.”
Then the five men departed, and came to Laish, and saw the people that were therein, how they dwelt careless, after the manner of the Zidonians, quiet and secure; and there was no magistrate in the land, that might put them to shame in any thing; and they were far from the Zidonians, and had no business with any man.
So the five men departed and came to Laish, where they saw that the people were
living securely, like the Sidonians,
tranquil and
unsuspecting. There was nothing lacking in the land and no
oppressive ruler. And they were far away from the Sidonians and had no alliance with
anyone.
And the congregation sent thither twelve thousand men of the valiantest, and commanded them, saying, Go and
smite the inhabitants of
Jabesh-
gilead with the edge of the sword, with the women and the children.
So the congregation sent 12,000 of their most
valiant men and commanded them: “Go and put to the sword those
living in
Jabesh-
gilead, including women and children.
Wherefore she went forth out of the place where she was, and her two daughters in law with her; and they went on the way to return unto the land of Judah.
Accompanied by her two daughters-in-law, she left the place where she had been living and set out on the road leading back to the land of Judah.
And
Naomi said unto her daughter in law, Blessed be he of the LORD, who hath not left off his kindness to the
living and to the dead. And
Naomi said unto her, The man is near of
kin unto us, one of our next
kinsmen.
Then
Naomi said to her daughter-in-law, “May he be blessed by the LORD, who has not withdrawn His kindness from the
living or the dead.”
Naomi continued, “The man is a close relative. He is one of our
kinsman-redeemers.”
And David spake to the men that stood by him, saying, What shall be done to the man that killeth this
Philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? for who is this
uncircumcised Philistine, that he should
defy the armies of the
living God?
David asked the men who were standing with him, “What will be done for the man who kills this
Philistine and removes this disgrace from Israel? Just who is this
uncircumcised Philistine, that he should
defy the armies of the
living God?”
Your servant has killed lions and bears; this
uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, for he has
defied the armies of the
living God.”
Yet a man is risen to pursue thee, and to seek thy soul: but the soul of my lord shall be bound in the
bundle of life with the LORD thy God; and the souls of thine enemies, them shall he
sling out, as out of the middle of a
sling.
And should someone pursue you and seek your life, then the life of my lord will be bound securely by the LORD your God in the
bundle of the
living. But He shall
fling away the lives of your enemies like stones from a
sling.
And Saul pitched in the hill of Hachilah, which is before Jeshimon, by the way. But David abode in the wilderness, and he saw that Saul came after him into the wilderness.
Saul camped beside the road at the hill of Hachilah opposite Jeshimon, but David was living in the wilderness. When he realized that Saul had followed him there,
That the king said unto
Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in an house of
cedar, but the ark of God dwelleth within curtains.
he said to
Nathan the prophet, “Here I am,
living in a house of
cedar, while the ark of God remains in a tent.”
And David came to his house at Jerusalem; and the king took the ten women his concubines, whom he had left to keep the house, and put them in ward, and fed them, but went not in unto them. So they were shut up unto the day of their death,
living in
widowhood.
When David returned to his palace in Jerusalem, he took the ten concubines he had left to care for the palace, and he placed them in a house under guard. He provided for them, but he no longer
slept with them. They were confined until the day of their death,
living as widows.
And the other woman said,
Nay; but the
living is my son, and the dead is thy son. And this said, No; but the dead is thy son, and the
living is my son. Thus they spake before the king.
“No,” said the other woman, “the
living one is my son and the dead one is your son.” But the first woman insisted, “No, the dead one is yours and the
living one is mine.” So they
argued before the king.
Then said the king, The one saith, This is my son that liveth, and thy son is the dead: and the other saith,
Nay; but thy son is the dead, and my son is the
living.
Then the king replied, “This woman says, ‘My son is alive and yours is dead,’ but that woman says, ‘No, your son is dead and mine is alive.’”
And the king said, Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other.
and the king declared, “Cut the living child in two and give half to one and half to the other.”
Then spake the woman whose the
living child was unto the king, for her
bowels yearned upon her son, and she said, O my lord, give her the
living child, and in no wise
slay it. But the other said, Let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide it.
Then the woman whose son was alive spoke to the king because she
yearned with
compassion for her son. “Please, my lord,” she said, “give her the
living baby. Do not kill him!” But the other woman said, “He will be neither mine nor yours. Cut him in two!”
Then the king answered and said, Give her the
living child, and in no wise
slay it: she is the mother thereof.
Then the king gave his ruling: “Give the
living baby to the first woman. By no means should you kill him; she is his mother.”
And it came to pass, when
Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who was yet in Egypt, heard of it, (for he was fled from the presence of king Solomon, and
Jeroboam dwelt in Egypt;)
When
Jeroboam son of Nebat heard about this, he was still in Egypt where he had fled from King Solomon and had been
living ever since.
But as for the children of Israel which dwelt in the cities of Judah,
Rehoboam reigned over them.
but
Rehoboam still reigned over the Israelites
living in the cities of Judah.
Now there dwelt an old prophet in
Bethel; and his sons came and told him all the works that the man of God had done that day in
Bethel: the words which he had spoken unto the king, them they told also to their father.
Now a certain old prophet was
living in
Bethel, and his sons came and told him all the deeds that the man of God had done that day in
Bethel. They also told their father the words that the man had spoken to the king.
It may be the LORD thy God will hear all the words of
Rab-shakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master hath sent to reproach the
living God; and will reprove the words which the LORD thy God hath heard: wherefore lift up thy prayer for the
remnant that are left.
Perhaps the LORD your God will hear all the words of the
Rabshakeh, whom his master the king of Assyria has sent to
defy the
living God, and He will
rebuke him for the words that the LORD your God has heard. Therefore lift up a prayer for the
remnant that still survives.”
LORD, bow down thine ear, and hear: open, LORD, thine eyes, and see: and hear the words of
Sennacherib, which hath sent him to reproach the
living God.
And Meonothai
begat Ophrah: and Seraiah
begat Joab, the father of the valley of Charashim; for they were
craftsmen.
Meonothai was the father of Ophrah, and Seraiah was the father of
Joab, the father of those
living in Ge-harashim, which was given this name because its people were
craftsmen.
And these are the sons of Ehud: these are the heads of the fathers of the inhabitants of Geba, and they removed them to Manahath:
These were the descendants of Ehud who were the heads of the families living in Geba and were exiled to Manahath:
Now it came to pass, as David sat in his house, that David said to
Nathan the prophet, Lo, I dwell in an house of cedars, but the ark of the covenant of the LORD remaineth under curtains.
After David had settled into his palace, he said to
Nathan the prophet, “Here I am,
living in a house of
cedar, while the ark of the covenant of the LORD is under a tent.”
But as for the children of Israel that dwelt in the cities of Judah,
Rehoboam reigned over them.
but
Rehoboam still reigned over the Israelites
living in the cities of Judah.
And God helped him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians that dwelt in Gur-
baal, and the Mehunims.
God helped him against the Philistines, against the Arabs
living in Gur-
baal, and against the Meunites.
Moreover he commanded the people that dwelt in Jerusalem to give the portion of the priests and the Levites, that they might be encouraged in the law of the LORD.
Moreover, he commanded the people
living in Jerusalem to make a contribution for the priests and Levites so that they could
devote themselves to the Law of the LORD.
Then sent the king an answer unto Rehum the chancellor, and to Shimshai the
scribe, and to the rest of their companions that dwell in Samaria, and unto the rest beyond the river, Peace, and at such a time.
Then the king sent this reply: To Rehum the commander, Shimshai the
scribe, and the rest of your associates
living in Samaria and elsewhere in the region west of the Euphrates: Greetings.
Moreover the
Nethinims dwelt in Ophel, unto the place over against the water gate toward the east, and the tower that lieth out.
and the temple servants living on the hill of Ophel made repairs opposite the Water Gate toward the east and the tower that juts out.
In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.
The life of every living thing is in His hand, as well as the breath of all mankind.
Man knoweth not the price thereof; neither is it found in the land of the living.
No man can know its value, nor is it found in the land of the living.
Seeing it is
hid from the eyes of all
living, and kept close from the fowls of the air.
It is hidden from the eyes of every living thing and concealed from the birds of the air.
For I know that thou
wilt bring me to death, and to the house appointed for all
living.
Yes, I know that You will bring me down to death, to the place appointed for all the
living.
To bring back his soul from the pit, to be
enlightened with the light of the
living.
to bring back his soul from the Pit, that he may be
enlightened with the light of life.
I had
fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the
living.
Still I am certain to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.
My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?
My soul thirsts for God, the living God. When shall I come and appear in God’s presence?
God shall likewise destroy thee for ever, he shall take thee away, and
pluck thee out of thy dwelling place, and root thee out of the land of the
living.
Selah.
Surely God will bring you down to
everlasting ruin; He will
snatch you up and
tear you away from your tent; He will
uproot you from the land of the
living.
Selah For thou hast delivered my soul from death:
wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the
living?
For You have delivered my soul from death, and my feet from
stumbling, that I may walk before God in the light of life.
