And thy
renown went forth among the heathen for thy beauty: for it was perfect through my
comeliness, which I had put upon thee, saith the
Lord GOD.
Your fame spread among the nations on account of your beauty, for it was perfect in the
splendor I bestowed on you, declares the
Lord GOD.
My meat also which I gave thee, fine flour, and oil, and honey,
wherewith I fed thee, thou hast even set it before them for a sweet savour: and thus it was, saith the
Lord GOD.
And you set before them as a pleasing
aroma the food I had given you—the fine flour, oil, and honey that I had fed you. That is what happened, declares the
Lord GOD.
And it came to pass after all thy wickedness, (
woe,
woe unto thee! saith the
Lord GOD;)
Woe!
Woe to you, declares the
Lord GOD. And in addition to all your other wickedness,
How weak is thine heart, saith the
Lord GOD, seeing thou doest all these things, the work of an
imperious whorish woman;
How weak-willed is your heart, declares the
Lord GOD, while you do all these things, the acts of a shameless
prostitute!
Wherefore, O
harlot, hear the word of the
LORD:
Therefore, O
prostitute, hear the word of the
LORD!
Thus saith the
Lord GOD; Because thy
filthiness was poured out, and thy nakedness discovered through thy whoredoms with thy lovers, and with all the idols of thy abominations, and by the blood of thy children, which thou
didst give unto them;
This is what the
Lord GOD says: Because you poured out your wealth and exposed your nakedness in your
promiscuity with your lovers and with all your
detestable idols, and because of the blood of your children which you gave to them,
Because thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, but hast
fretted me in all these things; behold, therefore I also will
recompense thy way upon thine head, saith the
Lord GOD: and thou shalt not commit this
lewdness above all thine abominations.
Because you did not remember the days of your youth, but
enraged Me with all these things, I will surely bring your deeds down upon your own head, declares the
Lord GOD. Have you not committed this
lewdness on top of all your other abominations?
As I live, saith the
Lord GOD,
Sodom thy sister hath not done, she nor her daughters, as thou hast done, thou and thy daughters.
As surely as I live, declares the
Lord GOD, your sister
Sodom and her daughters never did as you and your daughters have done.
Thou hast borne thy
lewdness and thine abominations, saith the
LORD.
You will bear the consequences of your
lewdness and your abominations, declares the
LORD.
For thus saith the
Lord GOD; I will even deal with thee as thou hast done, which hast
despised the oath in breaking the covenant.
For this is what the
Lord GOD says: I will deal with you according to your deeds, since you have
despised the oath by breaking the covenant.
And I will establish my covenant with thee; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD:
So I will establish My covenant with you, and you will know that I am the LORD,
That thou mayest remember, and be confounded, and never open thy mouth any more because of thy shame, when I am
pacified toward thee for all that thou hast done, saith the
Lord GOD.
so that when I make
atonement for all you have done, you will remember and be
ashamed and never again open your mouth because of your disgrace, declares the
Lord GOD.”
And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Now the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
And say, Thus saith the
Lord GOD; A great eagle with great wings, longwinged, full of feathers, which had
divers colours, came unto
Lebanon, and took the highest branch of the
cedar:
and tell them that this is what the
Lord GOD says: ‘A great eagle with great wings and long pinions, full of feathers of many colors, came to
Lebanon and took away the top of the
cedar.
Say thou, Thus saith the
Lord GOD; Shall it
prosper? shall he not pull up the roots thereof, and cut off the fruit thereof, that it wither? it shall wither in all the leaves of her spring, even without great power or many people to
pluck it up by the roots thereof.
So you are to tell them that this is what the
Lord GOD says: ‘Will it
flourish? Will it not be uprooted and
stripped of its fruit so that it shrivels? All its foliage will wither! It will not take a strong arm or many people to pull it up by its roots.
Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
As I live, saith the
Lord GOD, surely in the place where the king dwelleth that made him king, whose oath he
despised, and whose covenant he
brake, even with him in the midst of Babylon he shall die.
‘As surely as I live,’ declares the
Lord GOD, ‘he will die in Babylon, in the land of the king who enthroned him, whose oath he
despised and whose covenant he broke.
Therefore thus saith the
Lord GOD; As I live, surely mine oath that he hath
despised, and my covenant that he hath broken, even it will I
recompense upon his own head.
Therefore this is what the
Lord GOD says: ‘As surely as I live, I will bring down upon his head My oath that he
despised and My covenant that he broke.
And all his fugitives with all his bands shall fall by the sword, and they that remain shall be scattered toward all winds: and ye shall know that I the LORD have spoken it.
All his choice troops will fall by the sword, and those who
survive will be scattered to every wind. Then you will know that I, the
LORD, have spoken.’
Thus saith the
Lord GOD; I will also take of the highest branch of the high
cedar, and will set it; I will crop off from the top of his young twigs a tender one, and will plant it upon an high mountain and eminent:
This is what the
Lord GOD says: ‘I will take a shoot from the lofty top of the
cedar, and I will set it out. I will
pluck a tender
sprig from its
topmost shoots, and I will plant it on a high and lofty mountain.
And all the trees of the field shall know that I the
LORD have brought down the high tree, have
exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to
flourish: I the
LORD have brought down the high tree, have
exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to
flourish: I the
LORD have spoken and have done it.
Then all the trees of the field will know that I am the
LORD. I bring the tall tree down and make the low tree tall. I dry up the green tree and make the
withered tree
flourish. I, the
LORD, have spoken, and I have done it.’”
The word of the LORD came unto me again, saying,
Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
As I live, saith the
Lord GOD, ye shall not have occasion any more to use this
proverb in Israel.
As surely as I live, declares the
Lord GOD, you will no longer
quote this
proverb in Israel.
Hath walked in my statutes, and hath kept my judgments, to deal truly; he is just, he shall surely live, saith the Lord GOD.
He follows My statutes and faithfully keeps My ordinances. That man is righteous; surely he will live, declares the Lord GOD.
Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?
Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the
Lord GOD. Wouldn’t I
prefer that he turn from his ways and live?
Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. Hear now, O house of Israel; Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal?
Yet you say, ‘The way of the Lord is not just.’ Hear now, O house of Israel: Is it My way that is unjust? Is it not your ways that are unjust?
Yet saith the house of Israel, The way of the Lord is not equal. O house of Israel, are not my ways equal? are not your ways unequal?
Yet the house of Israel says, ‘The way of the Lord is not just.’ Are My ways unjust, O house of Israel? Is it not your ways that are unjust?
Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the
Lord GOD.
Repent, and turn
yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin.
Therefore, O house of Israel, I will judge you, each according to his ways, declares the
Lord GOD.
Repent and turn from all your transgressions, so that your iniquity will not become your
downfall.
For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the
Lord GOD: wherefore turn
yourselves, and live ye.
For I take no pleasure in
anyone’s death, declares the
Lord GOD. So
repent and live!
And it came to pass in the seventh year, in the fifth month, the tenth day of the month, that certain of the elders of Israel came to
enquire of the
LORD, and sat before me.
In the seventh year, on the tenth day of the fifth month, some of the elders of Israel came to inquire of the LORD, and they sat down before me.
Then came the word of the LORD unto me, saying,
Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Son of man, speak unto the elders of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the
Lord GOD; Are ye come to
enquire of me? As I live, saith the
Lord GOD, I will not be enquired of by you.
“Son of man, speak to the elders of Israel and tell them that this is what the Lord GOD says: Have you come to inquire of Me? As surely as I live, I will not be consulted by you, declares the Lord GOD.
And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the day when I chose Israel, and lifted up mine hand unto the seed of the house of Jacob, and made myself known unto them in the land of Egypt, when I lifted up mine hand unto them, saying, I am the LORD your God;
and tell them that this is what the
Lord GOD says: On the day I chose Israel, I
swore an oath to the descendants of the house of Jacob and made Myself known to them in the land of Egypt. With an
uplifted hand I said to them, ‘I am the
LORD your God.’
Then said I unto them, Cast ye away every man the abominations of his eyes, and
defile not
yourselves with the idols of Egypt: I am the
LORD your God.
And I said to them: ‘Each of you must throw away the abominations before his eyes, and you must not
defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt. I am the
LORD your God.’
Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the
LORD that
sanctify them.
I also gave them My Sabbaths as a sign between us, so that they would know that I am the LORD who sanctifies them.
I am the LORD your God; walk in my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them;
I am the LORD your God; walk in My statutes, keep My ordinances, and practice them.
And
hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the
LORD your God.
Keep My Sabbaths holy, that they may be a sign between us, so that you may know that I am the LORD your God.’
And I
polluted them in their own gifts, in that they caused to pass through the fire all that openeth the
womb, that I might make them
desolate, to the end that they might know that I am the
LORD.
And I pronounced them unclean through their gifts—the sacrifice of every
firstborn in the fire—so that I might
devastate them, in order that they would know that I am the
LORD.
Therefore, son of man, speak unto the house of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the
Lord GOD; Yet in this your fathers have
blasphemed me, in that they have committed a
trespass against me.
Therefore, son of man, speak to the house of Israel, and tell them that this is what the
Lord GOD says: In this way also your fathers
blasphemed Me by their unfaithfulness against Me.
Wherefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the
Lord GOD; Are ye
polluted after the manner of your fathers? and commit ye
whoredom after their abominations?
For when ye offer your gifts, when ye make your sons to pass through the fire, ye
pollute yourselves with all your idols, even unto this day: and shall I be enquired of by you, O house of Israel? As I live, saith the
Lord GOD, I will not be enquired of by you.
When you offer your gifts, sacrificing your sons in the fire, you continue to
defile yourselves with all your idols to this day. So should I be consulted by you, O house of Israel? As surely as I live, declares the
Lord GOD, I will not be consulted by you!
As I live, saith the
Lord GOD, surely with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with
fury poured out, will I rule over you:
As surely as I live, declares the Lord GOD, with a strong hand, an outstretched arm, and outpoured wrath I will rule over you.
Like as I
pleaded with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I
plead with you, saith the
Lord GOD.
Just as I entered into judgment with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so I will enter into judgment with you, declares the Lord GOD.
And I will
purge out from among you the rebels, and them that
transgress against me: I will bring them forth out of the country where they
sojourn, and they shall not enter into the land of Israel: and ye shall know that I am the
LORD.
And I will
purge you of those who
rebel and
transgress against Me. I will bring them out of the land in which they dwell, but they will not enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the
LORD.
As for you, O house of Israel, thus saith the
Lord GOD; Go ye, serve ye every one his idols, and
hereafter also, if ye will not
hearken unto me: but
pollute ye my holy name no more with your gifts, and with your idols.
And as for you, O house of Israel, this is what the
Lord GOD says: Go and serve your idols, every one of you. But afterward, you will surely
listen to Me, and you will no longer
defile My holy name with your gifts and idols.
For in mine holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, there shall all the house of Israel, all of them in the land, serve me: there will I accept them, and there will I require your offerings, and the firstfruits of your oblations, with all your holy things.
For on My holy mountain, the high mountain of Israel, declares the Lord GOD, there the whole house of Israel, all of them, will serve Me in the land. There I will accept them and will require your offerings and choice gifts, along with all your holy sacrifices.
And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall bring you into the land of Israel, into the country for the which I lifted up mine hand to give it to your fathers.
Then you will know that I am the
LORD, when I bring you into the land of Israel, the land that I
swore to give your fathers.
And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have wrought with you for my name’s sake, not according to your wicked ways, nor according to your corrupt doings, O ye house of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.
Then you will know, O house of Israel, that I am the LORD, when I have dealt with you for the sake of My name and not according to your wicked ways and corrupt acts, declares the Lord GOD.”
Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Now the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
And say to the forest of the south, Hear the word of the
LORD; Thus saith the
Lord GOD; Behold, I will
kindle a fire in thee, and it shall
devour every green tree in thee, and every dry tree: the flaming flame shall not be
quenched, and all faces from the south to the north shall be burned therein.
Say to the forest of the Negev: Hear the word of the
LORD! This is what the
Lord GOD says: I am about to
ignite in you a fire, and it will
devour all your trees, both green and dry. The
blazing flame will not be
quenched, and by it every face from south to north will be
scorched.
And all flesh shall see that I the
LORD have
kindled it: it shall not be
quenched.
Then all people will see that I, the
LORD, have
kindled it; it will not be
quenched.”
Then said I,
Ah Lord GOD! they say of me,
Doth he not speak parables?
Then I said, “
Ah,
Lord GOD, they are saying of me, ‘Is he not just telling parables?’”
And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
And the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
And say to the land of Israel, Thus saith the
LORD; Behold, I am against thee, and will draw forth my sword out of his
sheath, and will cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked.
and tell her that this is what the
LORD says: ‘I am against you, and I will draw My sword from its
sheath and cut off from you both the righteous and the wicked.
That all flesh may know that I the
LORD have drawn forth my sword out of his
sheath: it shall not return any more.
Then all flesh will know that I, the
LORD, have taken My sword from its
sheath, not to return it again.’
And it shall be, when they say unto thee, Wherefore sighest thou? that thou shalt answer, For the
tidings; because it cometh: and every heart shall
melt, and all hands shall be feeble, and every spirit shall
faint, and all knees shall be weak as water: behold, it cometh, and shall be brought to pass, saith the
Lord GOD.
And when they ask, ‘Why are you
groaning?’ you are to say, ‘Because of the news that is coming. Every heart will
melt, and every hand will go
limp. Every spirit will
faint, and every
knee will turn to water.’
Yes, it is coming and it will surely happen, declares the
Lord GOD.”
Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Again the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Son of man,
prophesy, and say, Thus saith the
LORD; Say, A sword, a sword is sharpened, and also
furbished:
“Son of man,
prophesy and tell them that this is what the
Lord says: ‘A sword, a sword, sharpened and polished—
Because it is a trial, and what if the sword
contemn even the rod? it shall be no more, saith the
Lord GOD.
Surely testing will come! And what if even the
scepter, which the sword despises, does not continue?’ declares the
Lord GOD.
I will also
smite mine hands together, and I will cause my
fury to rest: I the
LORD have said it.
I too will strike My hands together, and I will satisfy My wrath.’ I, the LORD, have spoken.”
The word of the LORD came unto me again, saying,
Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Therefore thus saith the
Lord GOD; Because ye have made your iniquity to be remembered, in that your transgressions are discovered, so that in all your doings your sins do appear; because, I say, that ye are come to
remembrance, ye shall be taken with the hand.
Therefore this is what the
Lord GOD says: ‘Because you have drawn attention to your guilt,
exposing your transgressions, so that your sins are revealed in all your deeds—because you have come to
remembrance—you shall be taken in hand.
Thus saith the
Lord GOD; Remove the
diadem, and take off the crown: this shall not be the same:
exalt him that is low, and
abase him that is high.
This is what the
Lord GOD says: ‘Remove the
turban, and take off the crown. Things will not remain as they are:
Exalt the lowly and bring low the
exalted.
And thou, son of man,
prophesy and say, Thus saith the
Lord GOD concerning the
Ammonites, and concerning their reproach; even say thou, The sword, the sword is drawn: for the slaughter it is
furbished, to
consume because of the
glittering:
Now
prophesy, son of man, and declare that this is what the
Lord GOD says concerning the
Ammonites and their contempt: ‘A sword! A sword is drawn for slaughter, polished to
consume, to
flash like
lightning—
Thou shalt be for fuel to the fire; thy blood shall be in the midst of the land; thou shalt be no more remembered: for I the LORD have spoken it.
You will be fuel for the fire. Your blood will
stain your own land. You will not be remembered, for I, the
LORD, have spoken.’”
Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Then say thou, Thus saith the
Lord GOD, The city sheddeth blood in the midst of it, that her time may come, and maketh idols against herself to
defile herself.
and tell her that this is what the
Lord GOD says: ‘O city who brings her own
doom by
shedding blood within her walls and making idols to
defile herself,
In thee have they taken gifts to shed blood; thou hast taken
usury and increase, and thou hast
greedily gained of thy neighbours by
extortion, and hast forgotten me, saith the
Lord GOD.
In you they take bribes to shed blood. You
engage in
usury, take excess interest, and
extort your neighbors. But Me you have forgotten, declares the
Lord GOD.
Can thine heart
endure, or can thine hands be strong, in the days that I shall deal with thee? I the
LORD have spoken it, and will do it.
Will your courage
endure or your hands be strong in the day I deal with you? I, the
LORD, have spoken, and I will act.
And thou shalt take thine inheritance in
thyself in the sight of the heathen, and thou shalt know that I am the
LORD.
And when you have
defiled yourself in the eyes of the nations, then you will know that I am the
LORD.’”
And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Therefore thus saith the
Lord GOD; Because ye are all become
dross, behold, therefore I will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem.
Therefore this is what the
Lord GOD says: ‘Because all of you have become
dross, behold, I will gather you into Jerusalem.
As silver is melted in the midst of the furnace, so shall ye be melted in the midst thereof; and ye shall know that I the
LORD have poured out my
fury upon you.
As silver is melted in a furnace, so you will be melted within the city. Then you will know that I, the LORD, have poured out My wrath upon you.’”
And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
And the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
And her prophets have
daubed them with untempered
morter, seeing vanity, and divining lies unto them, saying, Thus saith the
Lord GOD, when the
LORD hath not spoken.
Her prophets
whitewash these deeds by false visions and lying divinations, saying, ‘This is what the
Lord GOD says,’ when the
LORD has not spoken.
Therefore have I poured out mine
indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I
recompensed upon their heads, saith the
Lord GOD.
So I have poured out My
indignation upon them and consumed them with the fire of My
fury. I have brought their ways down upon their own heads, declares the
Lord GOD.”
The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying,
Again the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Therefore, O
Aholibah, thus saith the
Lord GOD; Behold, I will raise up thy lovers against thee, from whom thy mind is
alienated, and I will bring them against thee on every side;
Therefore, Oholibah, this is what the
Lord GOD says: ‘I will
incite your lovers against you, those from whom you turned away in
disgust. And I will bring them against you from every side—
The Babylonians, and all the Chaldeans, Pekod, and Shoa, and Koa, and all the Assyrians with them: all of them desirable young men, captains and rulers, great
lords and
renowned, all of them riding upon horses.
the Babylonians and all the Chaldeans, the men of Pekod, Shoa, and Koa, and all the Assyrians with them—all desirable young men, governors and commanders, officers and men of
renown, mounted on horses.
For thus saith the
Lord GOD; Behold, I will deliver thee into the hand of them whom thou hatest, into the hand of them from whom thy mind is
alienated:
For this is what the
Lord GOD says: ‘Surely I will deliver you into the hands of those you
hate, from whom you turned away in
disgust.
Thus saith the
Lord GOD; Thou shalt drink of thy sister’s cup deep and large: thou shalt be
laughed to
scorn and had in
derision; it containeth much.
This is what the
Lord GOD says: ‘You will drink your sister’s cup, a cup deep and wide. It will bring
scorn and
derision, for it holds so much.
Thou shalt even drink it and
suck it out, and thou shalt break the sherds thereof, and
pluck off thine own breasts: for I have spoken it, saith the
Lord GOD.
You will drink it and
drain it; you will
dash it to pieces, and
tear your breasts. For I have spoken,’ declares the
Lord GOD.
Therefore thus saith the
Lord GOD; Because thou hast forgotten me, and cast me behind thy back, therefore bear thou also thy
lewdness and thy whoredoms.
Therefore this is what the
Lord GOD says: ‘Because you have forgotten Me and have cast Me behind your back, you must bear the consequences of your
indecency and
prostitution.’”
The
LORD said moreover unto me; Son of man,
wilt thou judge Aholah and
Aholibah?
yea, declare unto them their abominations;
Then the LORD said to me: “Son of man, will you pass judgment against Oholah and Oholibah? Then declare to them their abominations.
For thus saith the
Lord GOD; I will bring up a company upon them, and will give them to be removed and
spoiled.
This is what the
Lord GOD says: ‘Bring a
mob against them and
consign them to terror and
plunder.
And they shall
recompense your
lewdness upon you, and ye shall bear the sins of your idols: and ye shall know that I am the
Lord GOD.
They will repay you for your
indecency, and you will bear the consequences of your sins of
idolatry. Then you will know that I am the
Lord GOD.’”
Again in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
In the ninth year, on the tenth day of the tenth month, the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
And utter a parable unto the
rebellious house, and say unto them, Thus saith the
Lord GOD; Set on a pot, set it on, and also pour water into it:
Now speak a parable to this
rebellious house and tell them that this is what the
Lord GOD says: ‘Put the pot on the fire; put it on and pour in the water.
Wherefore thus saith the
Lord GOD;
Woe to the
bloody city, to the pot whose
scum is therein, and whose
scum is not gone out of it! bring it out piece by piece; let no lot fall up on it.
Therefore this is what the
Lord GOD says: ‘
Woe to the city of
bloodshed, to the pot now
rusted, whose
rust will not come off! Empty it piece by piece; cast no lots for its contents.
Therefore thus saith the
Lord GOD;
Woe to the
bloody city! I will even make the pile for fire great.
I the
LORD have spoken it: it shall come to pass, and I will do it; I will not go back, neither will I
spare, neither will I
repent; according to thy ways, and according to thy doings, shall they judge thee, saith the
Lord GOD.
I, the
LORD, have spoken; the time is coming, and I will act. I will not
refrain or show
pity, nor will I relent. I will judge you according to your ways and deeds,’ declares the
Lord GOD.”
Also the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Then I answered them, The word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
So I answered them, “The word of the LORD came to me, saying:
Speak unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the
Lord GOD; Behold, I will
profane my sanctuary, the
excellency of your strength, the desire of your eyes, and that which your soul pitieth; and your sons and your daughters whom ye have left shall fall by the sword.
Tell the house of Israel that this is what the
Lord GOD says: ‘I am about to
desecrate My sanctuary, the pride of your power, the desire of your eyes, and the delight of your soul. And the sons and daughters you left behind will fall by the sword.’
Thus
Ezekiel is unto you a sign: according to all that he hath done shall ye do: and when this cometh, ye shall know that I am the
Lord GOD.
‘Thus
Ezekiel will be a sign for you; you will do everything that he has done. When this happens, you will know that I am the
Lord GOD.’
In that day shall thy mouth be opened to him which is escaped, and thou shalt speak, and be no more
dumb: and thou shalt be a sign unto them; and they shall know that I am the
LORD.
On that day your mouth will be opened to him who has escaped; you will speak and no longer be
mute. So you will be a sign to them, and they will know that I am the
LORD.”
The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying,
Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
And say unto the
Ammonites, Hear the word of the
Lord GOD; Thus saith the
Lord GOD; Because thou saidst,
Aha, against my sanctuary, when it was
profaned; and against the land of Israel, when it was
desolate; and against the house of Judah, when they went into captivity;
Tell the
Ammonites to hear the word of the
Lord GOD, for this is what the
Lord GOD says: ‘Because you
exclaimed, “
Aha!” when My sanctuary was
profaned, when the land of Israel was laid waste, and when the house of Judah went into exile,
And I will make Rabbah a stable for camels, and the
Ammonites a couchingplace for flocks: and ye shall know that I am the
LORD.
I will make Rabbah a pasture for camels, and
Ammon a resting place for sheep. Then you will know that I am the
LORD.’
For thus saith the
Lord GOD; Because thou hast
clapped thine hands, and stamped with the feet, and
rejoiced in heart with all thy
despite against the land of Israel;
For this is what the
Lord GOD says: ‘Because you
clapped your hands and stomped your feet and
rejoiced over the land of Israel with a heart full of contempt,
