The river of
Kishon swept them away, that ancient river, the river
Kishon. O my soul, thou hast
trodden down strength.
The River
Kishon swept them away, the ancient river, the River
Kishon.
March on, O my soul, in strength!
And he had thirty sons, and thirty daughters, whom he sent abroad, and took in thirty daughters from abroad for his sons. And he judged Israel seven years.

So
Manoah took a
kid with a meat offering, and offered it upon a rock unto the LORD: and the angel did wonderously; and
Manoah and his wife looked on.
Then
Manoah took a young goat and a grain offering and offered them on a rock to the LORD. And as
Manoah and his wife looked on, the LORD did a
marvelous thing.
Now the men of Israel had
sworn in Mizpeh, saying, There shall not any of us give his daughter unto Benjamin to wife.
Now the men of Israel had
sworn an oath at
Mizpah, saying, “Not one of us will give his daughter in
marriage to a
Benjamite.”
How shall we do for wives for them that remain, seeing we have
sworn by the LORD that we will not give them of our daughters to wives?
What should we do about wives for the survivors, since we have
sworn by the LORD not to give them our daughters in
marriage?”
And she said unto them, Call me not
Naomi, call me
Mara: for the
Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me.
“Do not call me
Naomi,” she replied. “Call me
Mara, because the
Almighty has dealt quite bitterly with me.
And it shall be, when he lieth down, that thou shalt mark the place where he shall lie, and thou shalt go in, and uncover his feet, and lay thee down; and he will tell thee what thou shalt do.
When he lies down, note the place where he lies. Then go in and uncover his feet, and lie down, and he will explain to you what you should do.”
And it came to pass, as she continued praying before the LORD, that
Eli marked her mouth.
As
Hannah kept on praying before the LORD,
Eli watched her mouth.
Wherefore ye shall make images of your
emerods, and images of your
mice that
mar the land; and ye shall give glory unto the God of Israel:
peradventure he will
lighten his hand from off you, and from off your gods, and from off your land.
Make images of your tumors and of the rats that are
ravaging the land. Give glory to the God of Israel, and perhaps He will lift His hand from you and your gods and your land.
And when the Philistines heard that the children of Israel were gathered together to Mizpeh, the lords of the Philistines went up against Israel. And when the children of Israel heard it, they were afraid of the Philistines.
When the Philistines heard that the Israelites had gathered at
Mizpah, their rulers
marched up toward Israel. And when the Israelites learned of this, they feared the Philistines
And he took a yoke of oxen, and
hewed them in pieces, and sent them throughout all the coasts of Israel by the hands of messengers, saying,
Whosoever cometh not forth after Saul and after Samuel, so shall it be done unto his oxen. And the fear of the LORD fell on the people, and they came out with one consent.
He took a pair of oxen, cut them into pieces, and sent them by messengers throughout the land of Israel,
proclaiming, “This is what will be done to the oxen of
anyone who does not
march behind Saul and Samuel.” Then the terror of the LORD fell upon the people, and they turned out as one man.
And Saul and all the people that were with him assembled themselves, and they came to the battle: and, behold, every man’s sword was against his fellow, and there was a very great
discomfiture.
Then Saul and all his troops assembled and
marched to the battle, and they found the Philistines in total confusion, with each man
wielding the sword against his
neighbor.
And David rose up early in the morning, and left the sheep with a keeper, and took, and went, as
Jesse had commanded him; and he came to the
trench, as the host was going forth to the fight, and
shouted for the battle.
So David got up early in the morning, left the flock with a keeper, loaded up, and set out as
Jesse had
instructed him. He reached the camp as the army was
marching out to its position and
shouting the battle cry.
And the men of Israel said, Have ye seen this man that is come up? surely to
defy Israel is he come up: and it shall be, that the man who killeth him, the king will
enrich him with great riches, and will give him his daughter, and make his father’s house free in Israel.
Now the men of Israel had been saying, “Do you see this man who keeps coming out to
defy Israel? To the man who kills him the king will give great riches. And he will give him his daughter in
marriage and
exempt his father’s house from taxation in Israel.”
And David went out
whithersoever Saul sent him, and
behaved himself wisely: and Saul set him over the men of war, and he was accepted in the sight of all the people, and also in the sight of Saul’s servants.
So David
marched out and
prospered in everything Saul sent him to do, and Saul set him over the men of war. And this was pleasing in the sight of all the people, and of Saul’s officers as well.
And Saul said to David, Behold my elder daughter Merab, her will I give thee to wife: only be thou
valiant for me, and fight the LORD’S battles. For Saul said, Let not mine hand be upon him, but let the hand of the Philistines be upon him.
Then Saul said to David, “Here is my older daughter Merab. I will give her to you in
marriage. Only be
valiant for me and fight the LORD’s battles.” But Saul was thinking, “I need not raise my hand against him; let the hand of the Philistines be against him.”
But it came to pass at the time when Merab Saul’s daughter should have been given to David, that she was given unto Adriel the Meholathite to wife.
So when it was time to give Saul’s daughter Merab to David, she was given in marriage to Adriel of Meholah.
Wherefore David arose and went, he and his men, and
slew of the Philistines two hundred men; and David brought their foreskins, and they gave them in full tale to the king, that he might be the king’s son in law. And Saul gave him Michal his daughter to wife.
David and his men went out and killed two hundred Philistines. He brought their foreskins and presented them as payment in full to become the king’s son-in-law. Then Saul gave his daughter Michal to David in marriage.
And I will shoot three arrows on the side thereof, as though I shot at a mark.
I will shoot three arrows to the side of it, as if I were aiming at a
target.
And when David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, Blessed be the LORD, that hath
pleaded the cause of my reproach from the hand of Nabal, and hath kept his servant from evil: for the LORD hath returned the wickedness of Nabal upon his own head. And David sent and communed with
Abigail, to take her to him to wife.
On hearing that Nabal was dead, David said, “Blessed be the LORD, who has
upheld my cause against the reproach of Nabal and has restrained His servant from evil. For the LORD has brought the wickedness of Nabal down upon his own head.” Then David sent word to
Abigail, asking for her in
marriage.
David also took Ahinoam of
Jezreel; and they were also both of them his wives.

And the lords of the Philistines passed on by hundreds, and by thousands: but David and his men passed on in the rereward with Achish.
As the
Philistine leaders
marched out their units of hundreds and thousands, David and his men
marched behind them with Achish.
Then Achish called David, and said unto him, Surely, as the LORD liveth, thou hast been upright, and thy going out and thy coming in with me in the host is good in my sight: for I have not found evil in thee since the day of thy coming unto me unto this day: nevertheless the lords favour thee not.
So Achish summoned David and told him, “As surely as the LORD lives, you have been upright in my sight, and it seems right that you should march in and out with me in the army, because I have found no fault in you from the day you came to me until this day. But you have no favor in the sight of the leaders.
And
Joab the son of Zeruiah, and the servants of David, went out, and met together by the
pool of
Gibeon: and they sat down, the one on the one side of the
pool, and the other on the other side of the
pool.
So
Joab son of Zeruiah, along with the servants of David,
marched out and met them by the
pool of
Gibeon. And the two camps took up positions on opposite sides of the
pool.
And
Abner and his men walked all that night through the plain, and passed over Jordan, and went through all Bithron, and they came to
Mahanaim.
And all that night
Abner and his men
marched through the Arabah. They crossed the Jordan,
marched all morning, and arrived at
Mahanaim.
And they took up
Asahel, and buried him in the
sepulchre of his father, which was in

Joab and his men went all night, and they came to
Hebron at break of day.
And the king and his men went to Jerusalem unto the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land: which spake unto David, saying, Except thou take away the blind and the
lame, thou shalt not come in
hither: thinking, David cannot come in
hither.
Now the king and his men
marched to Jerusalem against the Jebusites who inhabited the land. The Jebusites said to David: “You will never get in here. Even the blind and
lame can
repel you.” For they thought, “David cannot get in here.”
And when David enquired of the LORD, he said, Thou shalt not go up; but
fetch a compass behind them, and come upon them over against the
mulberry trees.
So David inquired of the LORD, who answered, “Do not
march straight up, but circle around behind them and attack them in front of the
balsam trees.
And let it be, when thou hearest the sound of a going in the tops of the
mulberry trees, that then thou shalt
bestir thyself: for then shall the LORD go out before thee, to
smite the host of the Philistines.
As soon as you hear the sound of
marching in the tops of the
balsam trees, move quickly, because this will mean that the LORD has
marched out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.”
David
smote also Hadadezer, the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to recover his border at the river Euphrates.
David also defeated Hadadezer son of Rehob, king of Zobah, who had marched out to restore his dominion along the Euphrates River.
And the children of
Ammon came out, and put the battle in
array at the entering in of the gate: and the Syrians of Zoba, and of Rehob, and
Ish-
tob, and
Maacah, were by themselves in the field.
The
Ammonites marched out and
arrayed themselves for battle at the entrance of the city gate, while the Arameans of Zobah and Rehob and the men of
Tob and
Maacah were by themselves in the open country.
And it came to pass, after the year was
expired, at the time when kings go forth to battle, that David sent
Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the children of
Ammon, and besieged Rabbah. But David
tarried still at Jerusalem.
In the spring, at the time when kings
march out to war, David sent out
Joab and his servants with the whole army of Israel. They destroyed the
Ammonites and besieged Rabbah, but David remained in Jerusalem.
Now
Absalom had commanded his servants, saying,
Mark ye now when Amnon’s heart is
merry with wine, and when I say unto you,
Smite Amnon; then kill him, fear not: have not I commanded you? be
courageous and be
valiant.
Now
Absalom had ordered his young men, “Watch Amnon until his heart is
merry with wine, and when I order you to strike Amnon down, you are to kill him. Do not be afraid. Have I not commanded you? Be
courageous and
valiant!”
And all his servants passed on beside him; and all the Cherethites, and all the Pelethites, and all the Gittites, six hundred men which came after him from
Gath, passed on before the king.
and all his servants
marched past him—all the Cherethites and Pelethites, and six hundred Gittites who had followed him from
Gath.
And David said to Ittai, Go and pass over. And Ittai the Gittite passed over, and all his men, and all the little ones that were with him.
“March on then,” said David to Ittai. So Ittai the Gittite marched past with all his men and all the little ones who were with him.
And David sent forth a third part of the people under the hand of
Joab, and a third part under the hand of
Abishai the son of Zeruiah,
Joab’s brother, and a third part under the hand of Ittai the Gittite. And the king said unto the people, I will surely go forth with you myself also.
He sent out the troops, a third under
Joab, a third under
Joab’s brother
Abishai son of Zeruiah, and a third under Ittai the Gittite. And the king said to the troops, “I will surely
march out with you as well.”
And the king said unto them, What seemeth you best I will do. And the king stood by the gate side, and all the people came out by hundreds and by thousands.
“I will do whatever seems best to you,” the king replied. So he stood beside the gate, while all the troops marched out by hundreds and by thousands.
So the people went out into the field against Israel: and the battle was in the wood of Ephraim;

marched out of Jerusalem in pursuit of

porch, which was of the like work. Solomon made also an house for Pharaoh’s daughter, whom he had taken to wife, like unto this
porch.
And the palace where Solomon would live, set further back, was of similar construction. He also made a palace like this hall for Pharaoh’s daughter, whom he had married.

And it came to pass, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of
Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to wife
Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians, and went and served
Baal, and worshipped him.
And as if it were not enough for him to walk in the sins of
Jeroboam son of Nebat, he even
married Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians, and he then proceeded to serve and worship
Baal.

Then the king of Israel called all the elders of the land, and said, Mark, I pray you, and see how this man seeketh mischief: for he sent unto me for my wives, and for my children, and for my silver, and for my gold; and I denied him not.
Then the king of Israel summoned all the elders of the land and said, “Please take note and see that this man is looking for trouble, for when he demanded my wives, my children, my silver, and my gold, I did not deny him.”
And they went out at
noon. But Ben-
hadad was drinking himself
drunk in the pavilions, he and the kings, the thirty and two kings that helped him.
They
marched out at
noon while Ben-
hadad and the 32 kings allied with him were in their tents getting
drunk.
And the young men of the princes of the provinces went out first; and Ben-
hadad sent out, and they told him, saying, There are men come out of Samaria.
And the young officers of the district governors
marched out first. Now Ben-
hadad had sent out scouts, who reported to him, “Men are
marching out of Samaria.”
And he said, Whether they be come out for peace, take them alive; or whether they be come out for war, take them alive.
“If they have marched out in peace,” he said, “take them alive. Even if they have marched out for war, take them alive.”

strengthen your position, and take note what you must do, for in the spring the king of

Ben-
hadad said to him, “I will restore the cities my father took from your father; you may set up your own
marketplaces in Damascus, as my father did in Samaria.” “By this treaty I release you,”
Ahab replied. So he made a treaty with him and sent him away.
And as the king passed by, he
cried unto the king: and he said, Thy servant went out into the midst of the battle; and, behold, a man turned aside, and brought a man unto me, and said, Keep this man: if by any means he be missing, then shall thy life be for his life, or else thou shalt pay a talent of silver.
As the king passed by, he
cried out to the king: “Your servant had
marched out into the middle of the battle, when suddenly a man came over with a
captive and told me, ‘Guard this man! If he goes missing for any reason, your life will be exchanged for his life, or you will
weigh out a talent of silver.’
And the LORD said, Who shall
persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall at
Ramoth-
gilead? And one said on this manner, and another said on that manner.
And the LORD said, ‘Who will
entice Ahab to
march up and fall at
Ramoth-
gilead?’ And one suggested this, and another that.
And ye shall
smite every
fenced city, and every choice city, and shall fell every good tree, and stop all wells of water, and
mar every good piece of land with stones.

Brook of Egypt to the Euphrates River.

march up after them, but circle around them and attack them in front of the
balsam trees.
And it shall be, when thou shalt hear a sound of going in the tops of the
mulberry trees, that then thou shalt go out to battle: for God is gone forth before thee to
smite the host of the Philistines.
As soon as you hear the sound of
marching in the tops of the
balsam trees, move out to battle, because this will mean that God has
marched out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.”

onyx for the settings,
turquoise, stones of various colors, all kinds of precious stones, and slabs of

married Maacah daughter of
Absalom, and she bore to him

chariots; and came unto
Mareshah.
Then Zerah the
Cushite came against them with an army of 1,000,000 men and 300
chariots, and they advanced as far as
Mareshah.

Asa went out against him, and they set the battle in

Mareshah.

Jehoshaphat had riches and honour in abundance, and joined affinity with

Ramoth-
gilead.
And some years later he went down to visit
Ahab in Samaria, where

march up and fall at
Ramoth-
gilead?’ And one suggested this, and another that.

morrow go ye down against them: behold, they come up by the
cliff of Ziz; and ye shall find them at the end of the
brook, before the wilderness of Jeruel.
Tomorrow you are to
march down against them. You will see them coming up the
Ascent of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the valley facing the Wilderness of Jeruel.
