And he that let go the goat for the
scapegoat shall wash his clothes, and
bathe his flesh in water, and afterward come into the camp.
The
man who released the goat as the
scapegoat must wash his clothes and
bathe himself with water; afterward he may reenter the camp.
What
man soever there be of the house of Israel, that killeth an ox, or lamb, or goat, in the camp, or that killeth it out of the camp,
‘
Anyone from the house of Israel who slaughters an ox, a lamb, or a goat in the camp or outside of it
And bringeth it not unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, to offer an offering unto the LORD before the tabernacle of the LORD; blood shall be imputed unto that man; he hath shed blood; and that man shall be cut off from among his people:
instead of bringing it to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting to present it as an offering to the LORD before His tabernacle—that
man shall
incur bloodguilt. He has shed blood and must be cut off from among his people.
And thou shalt say unto them,
Whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers which
sojourn among you, that offereth a burnt offering of sacrifice,
Tell them that if
anyone from the house of Israel or any foreigner living among them offers a burnt offering or a sacrifice
And bringeth it not unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, to offer it unto the LORD; even that man shall be cut off from among his people.
but does not bring it to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting to sacrifice it to the LORD, that man must be cut off from his people.
And
whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that
sojourn among you, that eateth any
manner of blood; I will even set my face against that soul that eateth blood, and will cut him off from among his people.
If
anyone from the house of Israel or a foreigner living among them eats any blood, I will set My face against that person and cut him off from among his people.
And
whatsoever man there be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that
sojourn among you, which hunteth and catcheth any beast or fowl that may be eaten; he shall even pour out the blood thereof, and cover it with dust.
And if any
Israelite or foreigner living among them hunts down a wild animal or bird that may be eaten, he must
drain its blood and cover it with
dirt.
For it is the life of all flesh; the blood of it is for the life thereof: therefore I said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall eat the blood of no
manner of flesh: for the life of all flesh is the blood thereof:
whosoever eateth it shall be cut off.
For the life of all flesh is its blood. Therefore I have told the Israelites, ‘You must not eat the blood of any living thing, because the life of all flesh is its blood;
whoever eats it must be cut off.’
Ye shall therefore keep my statutes, and my judgments: which if a man do, he shall live in them: I am the LORD.
Keep My statutes and My judgments, for the man who does these things will live by them. I am the LORD.
You must not lie with a
man as with a woman; that is an
abomination.
Ye shall fear every man his mother, and his father, and keep my sabbaths: I am the LORD your God.
Each of you must respect his mother and father, and you must keep My Sabbaths. I am the LORD your God.
And
whosoever lieth
carnally with a woman, that is a
bondmaid,
betrothed to an husband, and not at all redeemed, nor freedom given her; she shall be
scourged; they shall not be put to death, because she was not free.
If a
man lies
carnally with a slave
girl promised to another
man but who has not been redeemed or given her freedom, there must be due punishment. But they are not to be put to death, because she had not been freed.
And he shall bring his
trespass offering unto the LORD, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, even a ram for a
trespass offering.
The man, however, must bring a ram to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting as his guilt offering to the LORD.
And when ye shall come into the land, and shall have planted all
manner of trees for food, then ye shall count the fruit thereof as
uncircumcised: three years shall it be as
uncircumcised unto you: it shall not be eaten of.
When you enter the land and plant any kind of tree for food, you shall regard the fruit as forbidden. For three years it will be forbidden to you and must not be eaten.
Thou shalt rise up before the
hoary head, and honour the face of the old
man, and fear thy God: I am the LORD.
You are to rise in the presence of the elderly, honor the aged, and fear your God. I am the LORD.
And I will set my face against that
man, and will cut him off from among his people; because he hath given of his seed unto
Molech, to
defile my sanctuary, and to
profane my holy name.
And I will set My face against that
man and cut him off from his people, because by giving his offspring to
Molech, he has
defiled My sanctuary and
profaned My holy name.
And if the people of the land do any ways hide their eyes from the
man, when he giveth of his seed unto
Molech, and kill him not:
And if the people of the land ever hide their eyes and fail to put to death the
man who gives one of his children to
Molech,
Then I will set my face against that
man, and against his family, and will cut him off, and all that go a
whoring after him, to commit
whoredom with
Molech, from among their people.
then I will set My face against that
man and his family and cut off from among their people both him and all who follow him in
prostituting themselves with
Molech.
And the
man that committeth
adultery with another
man’s wife, even he that committeth
adultery with his neighbour’s wife, the
adulterer and the
adulteress shall surely be put to death.
And the man that lieth with his father’s wife hath uncovered his father’s nakedness: both of them shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
If a man lies with his father’s wife, he has uncovered his father’s nakedness. Both must surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.
And if a man lie with his daughter in law, both of them shall surely be put to death: they have wrought confusion; their blood shall be upon them.
If a
man lies with his daughter-in-law, both must surely be put to death. They have acted
perversely; their blood is upon them.
If a
man also lie with
mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an
abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
If a
man lies with a
man as with a woman, they have both committed an
abomination. They must surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.
And if a man take a wife and her mother, it is wickedness: they shall be burnt with fire, both he and they; that there be no wickedness among you.
If a
man marries both a woman and her mother, it is
depraved. Both he and they must be burned in the fire, so that there will be no
depravity among you.
And if a
man lie with a beast, he shall surely be put to death: and ye shall
slay the beast.
If a
man lies
carnally with an animal, he must be put to death. And you are also to kill the animal.
And if a man shall take his sister, his father’s daughter, or his mother’s daughter, and see her nakedness, and she see his nakedness; it is a wicked thing; and they shall be cut off in the sight of their people: he hath uncovered his sister’s nakedness; he shall bear his iniquity.
If a man marries his sister, whether the daughter of his father or of his mother, and they have sexual relations, it is a disgrace. They must be cut off in the sight of their people. He has uncovered the nakedness of his sister; he shall bear his iniquity.
And if a man shall lie with a woman having her sickness, and shall uncover her nakedness; he hath discovered her fountain, and she hath uncovered the fountain of her blood: and both of them shall be cut off from among their people.
If a
man lies with a
menstruating woman and has sexual relations with her, he has exposed the source of her flow, and she has uncovered the source of her blood. Both of them must be cut off from among their people.
And if a man shall lie with his uncle’s wife, he hath uncovered his uncle’s nakedness: they shall bear their sin; they shall die childless.
If a man lies with his uncle’s wife, he has uncovered the nakedness of his uncle. They will bear their sin; they shall die childless.
And if a man shall take his brother’s wife, it is an unclean thing: he hath uncovered his brother’s nakedness; they shall be childless.
If a man marries his brother’s wife, it is an act of impurity. He has uncovered the nakedness of his brother; they shall be childless.
And ye shall not walk in the
manners of the nation, which I cast out before you: for they committed all these things, and therefore I
abhorred them.
You must not follow the statutes of the nations I am driving out before you. Because they did all these things, I
abhorred them.
Ye shall therefore put difference between clean beasts and unclean, and between unclean fowls and clean: and ye shall not make your souls
abominable by beast, or by fowl, or by any
manner of living thing that creepeth on the ground, which I have separated from you as unclean.
You are therefore to distinguish between clean and unclean animals and birds. Do not become
contaminated by any animal or bird, or by anything that crawls on the ground; I have set these apart as unclean for you.
A
man also or woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a
wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones: their blood shall be upon them.
A
man or a woman who is a medium or
spiritist must surely be put to death. They shall be stoned; their blood is upon them.’”
But he shall not
defile himself, being a chief
man among his people, to
profane himself.
He is not to
defile himself for those related to him by marriage, and so
profane himself.
No
man who has any defect may approach—no
man who is blind,
lame, disfigured, or
deformed;
Or a man that is brokenfooted, or brokenhanded,
no man who has a broken foot or hand,
No
man that hath a
blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come
nigh to offer the offerings of the LORD made by fire: he hath a
blemish; he shall not come
nigh to offer the bread of his God.
No
descendant of Aaron the priest who has a defect shall approach to present the offerings made by fire to the LORD. Since he has a defect, he is not to come near to offer the food of his God.
What
man soever of the seed of Aaron is a
leper, or hath a running issue; he shall not eat of the holy things, until he be clean. And
whoso toucheth any thing that is unclean by the dead, or a
man whose seed goeth from him;
Or
whosoever toucheth any
creeping thing, whereby he may be made unclean, or a
man of whom he may take uncleanness,
whatsoever uncleanness he hath;
or
whoever touches a
crawling creature or a person that makes him unclean, whatever the uncleanness may be—
The soul which hath touched any such shall be unclean until even, and shall not eat of the holy things, unless he wash his flesh with water.
the man who touches any of these will remain unclean until evening. He must not eat from the sacred offerings unless he has bathed himself with water.
If the priest’s daughter also be married unto a stranger, she may not eat of an offering of the holy things.
If the priest’s daughter is married to a man other than a priest, she is not to eat of the sacred contributions.
And if a
man eat of the holy thing
unwittingly, then he shall put the fifth part thereof unto it, and shall give it unto the priest with the holy thing.
If
anyone eats a sacred offering in error, he must add a fifth to its value and give the sacred offering to the priest.
Speak unto Aaron, and to his sons, and unto all the children of Israel, and say unto them,
Whatsoever he be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers in Israel, that will offer his
oblation for all his vows, and for all his
freewill offerings, which they will offer unto the LORD for a burnt offering;
“Speak to Aaron and his sons and all the Israelites and tell them, ‘Any
man of the house of Israel or any foreign resident who presents a gift for a burnt offering to the LORD, whether to
fulfill a
vow or as a
freewill offering,
When a
man presents a peace offering to the LORD from the
herd or flock to
fulfill a
vow or as a
freewill offering, it must be without
blemish or defect to be acceptable.
Ye shall do no manner of work: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.
You are not to do any work at all. This is a permanent statute for the generations to come, wherever you live.
And the son of an
Israelitish woman, whose father was an Egyptian, went out among the children of Israel: and this son of the
Israelitish woman and a
man of Israel
strove together in the camp;
Now the son of an
Israelite mother and an Egyptian father went out among the Israelites, and a fight broke out in the camp between him and an
Israelite.
And he that killeth any man shall surely be put to death.
And if a
man takes the life of
anyone else, he must surely be put to death.
And if a
man cause a
blemish in his neighbour; as he hath done, so shall it be done to him;
If
anyone injures his
neighbor, whatever he has done must be done to him:
Breach for breach, eye for eye, tooth for tooth: as he hath caused a
blemish in a
man, so shall it be done to him again.
fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth. Just as he injured the other person, the same must be inflicted on him.
And he that killeth a beast, he shall restore it: and he that killeth a man, he shall be put to death.
Ye shall have one manner of law, as well for the stranger, as for one of your own country: for I am the LORD your God.
You are to have the same standard of law for the foreign resident and the native; for I am the LORD your God.’”
And the sabbath of the land shall be meat for you; for thee, and for thy servant, and for thy
maid, and for thy
hired servant, and for thy stranger that sojourneth with thee,
And ye shall
hallow the
fiftieth year, and
proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every
man unto his possession, and ye shall return every
man unto his family.
So you are to
consecrate the
fiftieth year and
proclaim liberty in the land for all its inhabitants. It shall be your
Jubilee, when each of you is to return to his property and to his clan.
In the year of this jubile ye shall return every man unto his possession.
In this Year of
Jubilee, each of you shall return to his own property.
And if the
man have none to
redeem it, and himself be able to
redeem it;
Or if a
man has no one to
redeem it for him, but he prospers and acquires enough to
redeem his land,
Then let him count the years of the sale thereof, and restore the
overplus unto the
man to whom he sold it; that he may return unto his possession.
he shall
calculate the years since its sale, repay the balance to the
man to whom he sold it, and return to his property.
And if a
man sell a dwelling house in a walled city, then he may
redeem it within a whole year after it is sold; within a full year may he
redeem it.
If a
man sells a house in a walled city, he retains his right of
redemption until a full year after its sale; during that year it may be redeemed.
And if a man purchase of the Levites, then the house that was sold, and the city of his possession, shall go out in the year of jubile: for the houses of the cities of the Levites are their possession among the children of Israel.
So whatever belongs to the Levites may be redeemed—a house sold in a city they possess—and must be released in the
Jubilee, because the houses in the cities of the Levites are their possession among the Israelites.
And ye shall take them as an inheritance for your children after you, to
inherit them for a possession; they shall be your
bondmen for ever: but over your brethren the children of Israel, ye shall not rule one over another with rigour.
You may leave them to your sons after you to
inherit as property; you can make them slaves for life. But as for your brothers, the Israelites, no
man may rule harshly over his brother.
If there be yet
many years behind, according unto them he shall give again the price of his
redemption out of the money that he was bought for.
If
many years remain, he must pay for his
redemption in proportion to his purchase price.
And as a yearly
hired servant shall he be with him: and the other shall not rule with rigour over him in thy sight.
He shall be treated like a
man hired from year to year, but a foreign owner must not rule over him harshly in your sight.
Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When a
man shall make a singular
vow, the persons shall be for the LORD by thy
estimation.
“Speak to the Israelites and say to them, ‘When someone makes a special
vow to the LORD involving the value of persons,
And if it be a beast,
whereof men bring an offering unto the LORD, all that any
man giveth of such unto the LORD shall be holy.
If he vows an animal that may be brought as an offering to the LORD, any such animal given to the LORD shall be holy.
And when a
man shall
sanctify his house to be holy unto the LORD, then the priest shall estimate it, whether it be good or bad: as the priest shall estimate it, so shall it stand.
Now if a man consecrates his house as holy to the LORD, then the priest shall value it either as good or bad. The price will stand just as the priest values it.
And if a
man shall
sanctify unto the LORD some part of a field of his possession, then thy
estimation shall be according to the seed thereof: an homer of barley seed shall be valued at fifty shekels of silver.
If a
man consecrates to the LORD a
parcel of his land, then your
valuation shall be proportional to the seed required for it—fifty shekels of silver for every homer of barley seed.
And if he will not
redeem the field, or if he have sold the field to another
man, it shall not be redeemed any more.
If, however, he does not
redeem the field, or if he has sold it to another
man, it may no longer be redeemed.
And if a
man sanctify unto the LORD a field which he hath bought, which is not of the fields of his possession;
Now if a man consecrates to the LORD a field he has purchased, which is not a part of his own property,
Then the priest shall
reckon unto him the worth of thy
estimation, even unto the year of the jubile: and he shall give thine
estimation in that day, as a holy thing unto the LORD.
then the priest shall
calculate for him the value up to the Year of
Jubilee, and the
man shall pay the
assessed value on that day as a sacred offering to the LORD.
Only the
firstling of the beasts, which should be the LORD’S
firstling, no
man shall
sanctify it; whether it be ox, or sheep: it is the LORD’S.
Notwithstanding no devoted thing, that a
man shall
devote unto the LORD of all that he hath, both of
man and beast, and of the field of his possession, shall be sold or redeemed: every devoted thing is most holy unto the LORD.
Nothing that a man sets apart to the LORD from all he owns—whether a man, an animal, or his inherited land—can be sold or redeemed; everything so devoted is most holy to the LORD.
And if a
man will at all
redeem ought of his
tithes, he shall add
thereto the fifth part thereof.
If a
man wishes to
redeem part of his
tithe, he must add a fifth to its value.
Take ye the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, after their families, by the house of their fathers, with the number of their names, every male by their polls;
“Take a census of the whole congregation of Israel by their clans and families, listing every man by name, one by one.
And with you there shall be a man of every tribe; every one head of the house of his fathers.
And one man from each tribe, the head of each family, must be there with you.
Of the children of Joseph: of Ephraim; Elishama the son of Ammihud: of
Manasseh;
Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.
from the sons of Joseph: from Ephraim, Elishama son of Ammihud, and from
Manasseh,
Gamaliel son of Pedahzur;
Of the children of
Manasseh, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
And from the sons of
Manasseh, according to the records of their clans and families, counting the names of all those twenty years of age or older who could serve in the army,
Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of
Manasseh, were thirty and two thousand and two hundred.
those registered to the tribe of
Manasseh numbered 32,200.
And the children of Israel shall pitch their tents, every man by his own camp, and every man by his own standard, throughout their hosts.
The Israelites are to camp by their divisions, each man in his own camp and under his own standard.
Every
man of the children of Israel shall pitch by his own standard, with the
ensign of their father’s house: far off about the tabernacle of the congregation shall they pitch.
“The Israelites are to camp around the Tent of Meeting at a distance from it, each man under his standard, with the banners of his family.
Then the tabernacle of the congregation shall set forward with the camp of the Levites in the midst of the camp: as they
encamp, so shall they set forward, every
man in his place by their standards.
In the middle of the camps, the Tent of Meeting is to travel with the camp of the Levites. They are to set out in the order they
encamped, each in his own place under his standard.
And by him shall be the tribe of
Manasseh: and the captain of the children of
Manasseh shall be
Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.
The tribe of
Manasseh will be next to it. The leader of the
Manassites is
Gamaliel son of Pedahzur,
And the children of Israel did according to all that the LORD commanded Moses: so they pitched by their standards, and so they set forward, every one after their families, according to the house of their fathers.
So the Israelites did everything the LORD commanded Moses; they camped under their standards in this way and set out in the same way, each man with his clan and his family.
Because all the
firstborn are mine; for on the day that I
smote all the
firstborn in the land of Egypt I
hallowed unto me all the
firstborn in Israel, both
man and beast: mine shall they be: I am the LORD.
for all the
firstborn are Mine. On the day I struck down every
firstborn in the land of Egypt, I consecrated to Myself all the
firstborn in Israel, both
man and beast. They are Mine; I am the LORD.”
But thus do unto them, that they may live, and not die, when they approach unto the most holy things: Aaron and his sons shall go in, and
appoint them every one to his service and to his burden:
In order that they may live and not die when they come near the most holy things, do this for them: Aaron and his sons are to go in and
assign each
man his task and what he is to carry.
Speak unto the children of Israel, When a
man or woman shall commit any sin that men commit, to do a
trespass against the LORD, and that person be guilty;
“Tell the Israelites that when a
man or woman acts unfaithfully against the LORD by
committing any sin against another, that person is guilty
But if the
man has no relative to whom
restitution can be made for the wrong, the
restitution belongs to the LORD and must be given to the priest along with the ram of
atonement, by which the
atonement is made for him.
And every
man’s
hallowed things shall be his:
whatsoever any
man giveth the priest, it shall be his.
Each man’s sacred gifts are his own, but whatever he gives to the priest will belong to the priest.”
Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, If any
man’s wife go aside, and commit a
trespass against him,
“Speak to the Israelites and tell them that if any
man’s wife goes
astray and is unfaithful to him
And a
man lie with her
carnally, and it be
hid from the eyes of her husband, and be kept close, and she be
defiled, and there be no witness against her, neither she be taken with the
manner;
by sleeping with another man, and it is concealed from her husband and her impurity is undetected (since there is no witness against her and she was not caught in the act),
Then shall the
man bring his wife unto the priest, and he shall bring her offering for her, the tenth part of an
ephah of barley meal; he shall pour no oil upon it, nor put
frankincense thereon; for it is an offering of jealousy, an offering of
memorial, bringing iniquity to
remembrance.
then he is to bring his wife to the priest. He must also bring for her an offering of a tenth of an
ephah of barley flour. He is not to pour oil over it or put
frankincense on it, because it is a grain offering for jealousy, an offering of
memorial as a reminder of iniquity.
And the priest shall charge her by an oath, and say unto the woman, If no
man have
lain with thee, and if thou hast not gone aside to uncleanness with another instead of thy husband, be thou free from this bitter water that causeth the
curse:
And he is to put the woman under oath and say to her, ‘If no other
man has
slept with you and you have not gone
astray and become
defiled while under your husband’s authority, may you be
immune to this bitter water that brings a
curse.
But if thou hast gone aside to another instead of thy husband, and if thou be
defiled, and some
man have
lain with thee beside thine husband:
Then shall the man be guiltless from iniquity, and this woman shall bear her iniquity.
The husband will be free from guilt, but the woman shall bear her iniquity.”
Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When either
man or woman shall separate themselves to
vow a
vow of a
Nazarite, to separate themselves unto the LORD:
“Speak to the Israelites and tell them that if a
man or woman makes a special
vow, the
vow of a
Nazirite, to separate himself to the LORD,
If someone suddenly dies in his presence and defiles his consecrated head of hair, he must
shave his head on the day of his
cleansing—the seventh day.
Take it of them, that they may be to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation; and thou shalt give them unto the Levites, to every man according to his service.
“Accept these gifts from them, that they may be used in the work of the Tent of Meeting. And give them to the Levites, to each man according to his service.”
On the eighth day offered
Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur, prince of the children of
Manasseh:
On the eighth day
Gamaliel son of Pedahzur, the leader of the
Manassites, drew near.
For all the
firstborn of the children of Israel are mine, both
man and beast: on the day that I
smote every
firstborn in the land of Egypt I
sanctified them for myself.
For every
firstborn male in Israel is Mine, both
man and beast. I set them apart for Myself on the day I struck down all the
firstborn in the land of Egypt.
And there were certain men, who were
defiled by the dead body of a
man, that they could not keep the
passover on that day: and they came before Moses and before Aaron on that day:
But there were some men who were unclean due to a dead body, so they could not observe the
Passover on that day. And they came before Moses and Aaron that same day
And those men said unto him, We are
defiled by the dead body of a
man: wherefore are we kept back, that we may not offer an offering of the LORD in his appointed season among the children of Israel?
and said to Moses, “We are unclean because of a dead body, but why should we be excluded from presenting the LORD’s offering with the other Israelites at the appointed time?”
Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If any
man of you or of your
posterity shall be unclean by reason of a dead body, or be in a journey
afar off, yet he shall keep the
passover unto the LORD.
“Tell the Israelites: ‘When any one of you or your descendants is unclean because of a dead body, or is away on a journey, he may still observe the
Passover to the LORD.
But the
man that is clean, and is not in a journey, and forbeareth to keep the
passover, even the same soul shall be cut off from among his people: because he brought not the offering of the LORD in his appointed season, that
man shall bear his sin.
But if a
man who is
ceremonially clean and is not on a journey still fails to observe the
Passover, he must be cut off from his people, because he did not present the LORD’s offering at its appointed time. That
man will bear the consequences of his sin.
And if a stranger shall
sojourn among you, and will keep the
passover unto the LORD; according to the
ordinance of the
passover, and according to the
manner thereof, so shall he do: ye shall have one
ordinance, both for the stranger, and for him that was born in the land.
If a foreigner dwelling among you wants to observe the
Passover to the LORD, he is to do so according to the
Passover statute and its ordinances. You are to apply the same statute to both the foreigner and the native of the land.’”
