And the holy garments of Aaron shall be his sons’ after him, to be
anointed therein, and to be consecrated in them.
The holy garments that belong to Aaron will belong to his sons after him, so they can be
anointed and
ordained in them.
For Moses had said,
Consecrate yourselves to day to the LORD, even every man upon his son, and upon his brother; that he may
bestow upon you a blessing this day.
Afterward, Moses said, “
Today you have been
ordained for service to the LORD, since each man went against his son and his brother; so the LORD has bestowed a blessing on you this day.”
And the priest, whom he shall
anoint, and whom he shall
consecrate to minister in the priest’s office in his father’s
stead, shall make the
atonement, and shall put on the linen clothes, even the holy garments:
The priest who is
anointed and
ordained to succeed his father as high priest shall make
atonement. He will put on the sacred linen garments
And he that is the high priest among his brethren, upon whose head the
anointing oil was poured, and that is consecrated to put on the garments, shall not uncover his head, nor
rend his clothes;
The priest who is highest among his brothers, who has had the
anointing oil poured on his head and has been
ordained to wear the priestly garments, must not let his hair
hang loose or
tear his garments.
These are the names of the sons of Aaron, the priests which were
anointed, whom he consecrated to minister in the priest’s office.
These were Aaron’s sons, the
anointed priests, who were
ordained to serve as priests.
And he took up his parable, and said,
Alas, who shall live when God doeth this!
Once more
Balaam lifted up an
oracle, saying: “
Ah, who can live unless God has
ordained it?
It is a continual burnt offering, which was
ordained in mount
Sinai for a sweet savour, a sacrifice made by fire unto the LORD.

Sinai as a pleasing
aroma, an offering made by fire to the LORD.
And the man
Micah had an house of gods, and made an
ephod, and
teraphim, and consecrated one of his sons, who became his priest.
Now this man
Micah had a
shrine, and he made an
ephod and some household idols, and
ordained one of his sons as his priest.
And
Micah consecrated the
Levite; and the young man became his priest, and was in the house of
Micah.
Micah ordained the
Levite, and the young man became his priest and lived in his house.
And
Jeroboam ordained a feast in the eighth month, on the
fifteenth day of the month, like unto the feast that is in Judah, and he offered upon the altar. So did he in
Bethel, sacrificing unto the
calves that he had made: and he placed in
Bethel the priests of the high places which he had made.
And
Jeroboam ordained a feast on the
fifteenth day of the eighth month, like the feast that was in Judah, and he offered sacrifices on the altar; he made this offering in
Bethel to sacrifice to the
calves he had set up, and he
installed priests in
Bethel for the high places he had set up.
So he offered upon the altar which he had made in
Bethel the
fifteenth day of the eighth month, even in the month which he had devised of his own heart; and
ordained a feast unto the children of Israel: and he offered upon the altar, and burnt incense.
On the
fifteenth day of the eighth month, a month of his own choosing,
Jeroboam offered sacrifices on the altar he had set up in
Bethel. So he
ordained a feast for the Israelites, offered sacrifices on the altar, and burned incense.
After this thing
Jeroboam returned not from his evil way, but made again of the lowest of the people priests of the high places:
whosoever would, he consecrated him, and he became one of the priests of the high places.
Even after these events,
Jeroboam did not
repent of his evil ways, but again he appointed priests for the high places from every class of people. He
ordained anyone who desired to be a priest of the high places.
Hast thou not heard long ago how I have done it, and of ancient times that I have formed it? now have I brought it to pass, that thou shouldest be to lay waste
fenced cities into
ruinous heaps.
Have you not heard? Long ago I
ordained it; in days of old I
planned it. Now I have brought it to pass, that you should
crush fortified cities into piles of
rubble.
And he put down the
idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had
ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah, and in the places round about Jerusalem; them also that burned incense unto
Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of heaven.
Josiah also did away with the
idolatrous priests
ordained by the kings of Judah to burn incense on the high places of the cities of Judah and in the places all around Jerusalem—those who had burned incense to
Baal, to the sun and moon, to the constellations, and to all the host of heaven.
Be ye mindful always of his covenant; the word which he commanded to a thousand generations;
Remember His covenant
forever, the word He
ordained for a thousand generations—
Behold, I build an house to the name of the LORD my God, to
dedicate it to him, and to burn before him sweet incense, and for the continual
shewbread, and for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts of the LORD our God. This is an
ordinance for ever to Israel.
Behold, I am about to build a house for the Name of the LORD my God to
dedicate to Him for burning
fragrant incense before Him, for displaying the
showbread continuously, and for making burnt offerings every morning and evening as well as on the Sabbaths, New Moons, and appointed feasts of the LORD our God. This is
ordained for Israel
forever.
And he
ordained him priests for the high places, and for the devils, and for the
calves which he had made.
And
Jeroboam appointed his own priests for the high places and for the goat demons and
calf idols he had made.
Also Jehoiada appointed the offices of the house of the LORD by the hand of the priests the Levites, whom David had distributed in the house of the LORD, to offer the burnt offerings of the LORD, as it is written in the law of Moses, with
rejoicing and with singing, as it was
ordained by David.
Moreover, Jehoiada put the oversight of the house of the LORD into the hands of the
Levitical priests, whom David had appointed over the house of the LORD, to offer burnt offerings to the LORD as is written in the Law of Moses, with
rejoicing and song, as
ordained by David.
And
Hezekiah commanded to offer the burnt offering upon the altar. And when the burnt offering began, the song of the LORD began also with the
trumpets, and with the instruments
ordained by David king of Israel.
And
Hezekiah ordered that the burnt offering be sacrificed on the altar. When the burnt offering began, the song of the LORD and the
trumpets began as well, accompanied by the instruments of David king of Israel.
The Jews ordained, and took upon them, and upon their seed, and upon all such as joined themselves unto them, so as it should not fail, that they would keep these two days according to their writing, and according to their appointed time every year;
the Jews bound themselves to establish the custom that they and their descendants and all who join them should not fail to
celebrate these two days at the appointed time each and every year, according to their regulation.
Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou
ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the
avenger.
From the mouths of children and infants You have
ordained praise on account of Your
adversaries, to silence the enemy and
avenger.
When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;
When I behold Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have set in place—
This he ordained in Joseph for a testimony, when he went out through the land of Egypt: where I heard a language that I understood not.
He ordained it as a testimony for Joseph when he went out over the land of Egypt, where I heard an unfamiliar language:
He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations.
He remembers His covenant
forever, the word He
ordained for a thousand generations—
He sent
redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and
reverend is his name.
Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts
diligently.
You have
ordained Your precepts, that we should keep them
diligently.
There will I make the horn of David to
bud: I have
ordained a lamp for mine
anointed.
There I will make a horn grow for David; I have prepared a lamp for My
anointed one.
Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.
Your eyes saw my unformed body; all my days were written in Your book and ordained for me before one of them came to be.
For
Tophet is
ordained of old;
yea, for the king it is prepared; he hath made it deep and large: the pile thereof is fire and much wood; the breath of the LORD, like a stream of
brimstone,
doth kindle it.
For Topheth has long been prepared; it has been made ready for the king. Its funeral
pyre is deep and wide, with
plenty of fire and wood. The breath of the LORD, like a
torrent of burning sulfur, sets it
ablaze.
Hast thou not heard long ago, how I have done it; and of ancient times, that I have formed it? now have I brought it to pass, that thou shouldest be to lay waste defenced cities into
ruinous heaps.
Have you not heard? Long ago I
ordained it; in days of old I
planned it. Now I have brought it to pass, that you should
crush fortified cities into piles of
rubble.
I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded.
It is I who made the earth and created man upon it. It was My hands that stretched out the heavens, and I ordained all their host.
I have even from the beginning declared it to thee; before it came to pass I shewed it thee: lest thou shouldest say, Mine
idol hath done them, and my
graven image, and my
molten image, hath commanded them.
Therefore I declared it to you long ago; I
announced it before it came to pass, so that you could not claim, ‘My
idol has done this; my carved image and
molten god has
ordained it.’
Before I formed thee in the
belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the
womb I
sanctified thee, and I
ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
“Before I formed you in the
womb I knew you, and before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
The LORD hath done that which he had devised; he hath fulfilled his word that he had commanded in the days of old: he hath thrown down, and hath not
pitied: and he hath caused thine enemy to
rejoice over thee, he hath set up the horn of thine
adversaries.
The LORD has done what He
planned; He has accomplished His decree, which He
ordained in days of old; He has overthrown you without
pity. He has let the enemy
gloat over you and
exalted the horn of your foes.
Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not?
Who has spoken and it came to pass, unless the Lord has ordained it?
Thou art the
anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou
wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.
You were
anointed as a
guardian cherub, for I had
ordained you. You were on the holy mountain of God; you walked among the
fiery stones.
Therefore Daniel went in unto Arioch, whom the king had
ordained to destroy the wise men of Babylon: he went and said thus unto him; Destroy not the wise men of Babylon: bring me in before the king, and I will
shew unto the king the interpretation.
Therefore Daniel went to Arioch, whom the king had appointed to destroy the wise men of Babylon, and said to him, “Do not
execute the wise men of Babylon! Bring me before the king, and I will give him the interpretation.”
The LORD’S voice crieth unto the city, and the man of wisdom shall see thy name: hear ye the rod, and who hath appointed it.
The voice of the LORD calls out to the city (and it is sound wisdom to fear Your name): “
Heed the rod and the One who
ordained it.
Art thou not from
everlasting, O LORD my God, mine Holy One? we shall not die. O LORD, thou hast
ordained them for judgment; and, O mighty God, thou hast established them for correction.
Are You not from
everlasting, O LORD, my God, my Holy One? We will not die. O LORD, You have appointed them to
execute judgment; O Rock, You have established them for correction.
And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them,
Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?
“Do You hear what these children are saying?” they asked. “
Yes,” Jesus answered. “Have you never read: ‘From the mouths of children and infants You have
ordained praise’?”
And he
ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to
preach,
He appointed twelve of them, whom He designated as apostles, to
accompany Him, to be sent out to
preach,
Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and
ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that
whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
You did not choose Me, but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear fruit—fruit that will remain—so that whatever you ask the Father in My name, He will give you.
Beginning from the baptism of John, unto that same day that he was taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection.

you who received the law ordained by angels, yet have not kept it.”
And he commanded us to
preach unto the people, and to
testify that it is he which was
ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.
And He commanded us to
preach to the people and to
testify that He is the One appointed by God to judge the living and the dead.
And when the Gentiles heard this, they were
glad, and
glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were
ordained to eternal life believed.
When the Gentiles heard this, they
rejoiced and
glorified the word of the Lord, and all who were appointed for eternal life believed.
And when they had
ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they
commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed.
Paul and
Barnabas appointed elders for them in each church, praying and fasting as they entrusted them to the Lord, in whom they had believed.
And as they went through the cities, they delivered them the decrees for to keep, that were ordained of the apostles and elders which were at Jerusalem.
As they went from town to town, they delivered the decisions handed down by the apostles and elders in Jerusalem for the people to obey.
Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath
ordained;
whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.
For He has set a day when He will judge the world with justice by the Man He has appointed. He has given proof of this to
everyone by raising Him from the dead.”
And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death.
So I discovered that the very commandment that was meant to bring life actually brought death.
Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
Everyone must submit himself to the
governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which is from God. The authorities that exist have been appointed by God.
But we speak the wisdom of God in a
mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God
ordained before the world unto our glory:
No, we speak of the
mysterious and hidden wisdom of God, which He destined for our glory before time began.
Even so hath the Lord
ordained that they which
preach the gospel should live of the gospel.
In the same way, the Lord has prescribed that those who
preach the gospel should receive their living from the gospel.
Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was
ordained by angels in the hand of a
mediator.
Why then was the law given? It was added because of transgressions, until the arrival of the seed to whom the promise referred. It was administered through angels by a
mediator.
For we are his
workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before
ordained that we should walk in them.
For we are God’s
workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance as our way of life.
Whereunto I am
ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and
verity.
For this reason I was appointed as a preacher, an apostle, and a faithful and true teacher of the Gentiles. I am telling the truth; I am not lying about anything.
For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins:
Every high priest is appointed from among men to represent them in matters relating to God, to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins.
For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer.
And since every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices, it was necessary for this One also to have something to offer.
Now when these things were thus
ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle,
accomplishing the service of God.
When everything had been prepared in this way, the priests entered regularly into the first room to perform their sacred duties.
For there are certain men
crept in unawares, who were before of old
ordained to this
condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into
lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.
For certain men have
crept in among you unnoticed—ungodly ones who were designated long ago for
condemnation. They turn the grace of our God into a
license for immorality, and they deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.
Singing songs of
thanksgiving, and praising the Lord, according as David the king of Israel had
ordained.
I
Darius the king have
ordained that according unto these things it be done with
diligence.
And of the servants of the temple whom David had ordained, and the principal men for the service of the Levites to wit, the servants of the temple two hundred and twenty, the catalogue of whose names were shewed.
Then answered I and said, O Lord that bearest rule, thou hast
ordained in thy law, that the righteous should
inherit these things, but that the ungodly should perish.
If therefore thou shalt destroy him which with so great labour was fashioned, it is an easy thing to be ordained by thy commandment, that the thing which was made might be preserved.
But I alone went often to Jerusalem at the feasts, as it was
ordained unto all the people of Israel by an
everlasting decree, having the firstfruits and tenths of increase, with that which was first
shorn; and them gave I at the altar to the priests the children of Aaron.
Therefore have we commanded, that all they that are
signified in writing unto you by Aman, who is
ordained over the affairs, and is next unto us, shall all, with their wives and children, be utterly destroyed by the sword of their enemies, without all mercy and
pity, the
fourteenth day of the
twelfth month
Adar of this present year:
That they will
abolish the thing that thou with thy mouth hast
ordained, and destroy thine inheritance, and stop the mouth of them that praise thee, and
quench the glory of thy house, and of thine altar,
And ordained man through thy wisdom, that he should have dominion over the creatures which thou hast made,
Hate not laborious work, neither
husbandry, which the most High hath
ordained.
Who
wast ordained for reproofs in their times, to
pacify the wrath of the Lord’s judgment, before it
brake forth into
fury, and to turn the heart of the father unto the son, and to restore the tribes of Jacob.
And after this
Judas ordained captains over the people, even captains over thousands, and over hundreds, and over
fifties, and over tens.
Moreover
Judas and his brethren with the whole congregation of Israel
ordained, that the days of the
dedication of the altar should be kept in their season from year to year by the space of eight days, from the five and
twentieth day of the month Casleu, with
mirth and
gladness.
Moreover they divided the beasts among the armies, and for every
elephant they appointed a thousand men, armed with coats of
mail, and with helmets of brass on their heads; and beside this, for every beast were
ordained five hundred
horsemen of the best.
Moreover they
ordained to keep yearly this day, being the
thirteenth of
Adar.
He
ordained also that that day should be kept every year with
gladness. Moreover the hill of the temple that was by the tower he made stronger than it was, and there he dwelt himself with his company.
They ordained also by a common statute and decree, That every year those days should be kept of the whole nation of the Jews.
But Alcimus, perceiving the love that was
betwixt them, and considering the covenants that were made, came to
Demetrius, and told him that Nicanor was not well affected toward the state; for that he had
ordained Judas, a
traitor to his realm, to be the king’s successor.
And they
ordained all with a common decree in no case to let that day pass without
solemnity, but to
celebrate the
thirtieth day of the
twelfth month, which in the
Syrian tongue is called
Adar, the day before Mardocheus’ day.
