And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
Out of the ground the LORD God gave growth to every tree that is pleasing to the eye and good for food. And in the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
When the woman saw that the tree was good for food and
pleasing to the eyes, and that it was desirable for obtaining wisdom, she took the fruit and
ate it. She also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he
ate it.
And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again
curse the ground any more for man’s sake; for the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again
smite any more every thing living, as I have done.
When the LORD smelled the
pleasing aroma, He said in His heart, “Never again will I
curse the ground because of man, even though every inclination of his heart is evil from his youth. And never again will I destroy all living creatures as I have done.
Say, I pray thee, thou art my sister: that it may be well with me for thy sake; and my soul shall live because of thee.
Please say you are my sister, so that I will be treated well for your sake, and on account of you my life will be
spared.”
And
Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no
strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen; for we be brethren.

And Sarai said unto
Abram, Behold now, the LORD hath restrained me from bearing: I pray thee, go in unto my
maid; it may be that I may obtain children by her. And
Abram hearkened to the voice of Sarai.
So Sarai said to
Abram, “Look now, the LORD has prevented me from bearing children.
Please go to my
maidservant; perhaps I can build a family by her.” And
Abram listened to the voice of Sarai.
But
Abram said unto Sarai, Behold, thy
maid is in thy hand; do to her as it
pleaseth thee. And when Sarai dealt hardly with her, she fled from her face.
“Here,” said
Abram, “your servant is in your hands. Do whatever you want with her.” Then Sarai treated
Hagar so harshly that she fled from her.
And said, My Lord, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant:

And he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant’s house, and
tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways. And they said,
Nay; but we will
abide in the street all night.
and said, “My lords,
please turn aside into the house of your servant; wash your feet and
spend the night. Then you can rise early and go on your way.” “No,” they answered, “we will
spend the night in the square.”
And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly.
“
Please, my brothers,” he
pleaded, “don’t do such a wicked thing!
Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.
Look, I have two daughters who have never
slept with a man. Let me bring them to you, and you can do to them as you
please. But do not do anything to these men, for they have come under the protection of my roof.”
And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my Lord:
But Lot replied, “No, my lords, please!
Behold now, this city is near to
flee unto, and it is a little one: Oh, let me escape thither, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live.
Look, there is a town nearby where I can
flee, and it is a small place.
Please let me
flee there—is it not a small place? Then my life will be saved.”

wilt give it, I pray thee, hear me: I will give thee money for the field; take it of me, and I will

please listen to me, I will pay you the price of the field. Accept it from me, so that I may
bury my dead there.”

And let it come to pass, that the
damsel to whom I shall say, Let down thy pitcher, I pray thee, that I may drink; and she shall say, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: let the same be she that thou hast appointed for thy servant Isaac; and thereby shall I know that thou hast shewed kindness unto my master.
Now may it happen that the
girl to whom I say, ‘
Please let down your
jar that I may drink,’ and who responds, ‘Drink, and I will water your camels as well’—let her be the one You have appointed for Your servant Isaac. By this I will know that You have shown kindness to my master.”
And the servant ran to meet her, and said, Let me, I pray thee, drink a little water of thy pitcher.
So the servant ran to meet her and said, “
Please let me have a little water from your
jar.”
And said, Whose daughter art thou? tell me, I pray thee: is there room in thy father’s house for us to
lodge in?
“Whose daughter are you?” he asked. “
Please tell me, is there room in your father’s house for us to
spend the night?”
And there was set meat before him to eat: but he said, I will not eat, until I have told mine
errand. And he said, Speak on.
Then a meal was set before the man, but he said, “I will not eat until I have told you what I came to say.” So
Laban said, “
Please speak.”
Behold, I stand by the well of water; and it shall come to pass, that when the virgin cometh forth to draw water, and I say to her, Give me, I pray thee, a little water of thy pitcher to drink;
Here I am, standing beside this spring. Now if a
maiden comes out to draw water and I say to her, ‘
Please let me drink a little water from your
jar,’
And before I had done speaking in mine heart, behold,
Rebekah came forth with her pitcher on her shoulder; and she went down unto the well, and drew water: and I said unto her, Let me drink, I pray thee.
And before I had finished praying in my heart, there was
Rebekah coming out with her
jar on her shoulder, and she went down to the spring and drew water. So I said to her, ‘
Please give me a drink.’
And Jacob said unto his father, I am
Esau thy
firstborn; I have done according as thou badest me: arise, I pray thee, sit and eat of my
venison, that thy soul may
bless me.
Jacob said to his father, “I am
Esau, your
firstborn. I have done as you told me.
Please sit up and eat some of my game, so that you may
bless me.”
And Isaac said unto Jacob, Come near, I pray thee, that I may feel thee, my son, whether thou be my very son

Please come closer so I can touch you, my son. Are you really my son
Esau, or not?”

kiss me, my son.

And
Laban said unto him, I pray thee, if I have found favour in thine eyes,
tarry: for I have learned by experience that the LORD hath blessed me for thy sake.
But
Laban replied, “If I have found favor in your eyes,
please stay. I have learned by
divination that the LORD has blessed me because of you.”
Deliver me, I pray thee, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of
Esau: for I fear him, lest he will come and
smite me, and the mother with the children.
Please deliver me from the hand of my brother
Esau, for I am afraid that he may come and attack me and the mothers and children with me.
And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou
dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there.
And Jacob requested, “Please tell me your name.” But he replied, “Why do you ask my name?” Then he blessed Jacob there.
And Jacob said,
Nay, I pray thee, if now I have found grace in thy sight, then receive my present at my hand: for therefore I have seen thy face, as though I had seen the face of God, and thou
wast pleased with me.
But Jacob insisted, “No,
please! If I have found favor in your sight, then receive this gift from my hand. For indeed, I have seen your face, and it is like seeing the face of God, since you have received me
favorably.
Take, I pray thee, my blessing that is brought to thee; because God hath dealt
graciously with me, and because I have enough. And he urged him, and he took it.
Please accept my gift that was brought to you, because God has been
gracious to me and I have all I need.” So Jacob pressed him until he accepted.
Let my lord, I pray thee, pass over before his servant: and I will lead on softly, according as the cattle that goeth before me and the children be able to
endure, until I come unto my lord unto
Seir.
Please let my lord go
ahead of his servant. I will continue on slowly, at a comfortable
pace for the
livestock and children, until I come to my lord at
Seir.”
And Hamor communed with them, saying, The soul of my son
Shechem longeth for your daughter: I pray you give her him to wife.
But Hamor said to them, “My son
Shechem longs for your daughter.
Please give her to him as his wife.
And their words
pleased Hamor, and
Shechem Hamor’s son.
Their offer seemed good to Hamor and his son
Shechem.
And he said, I seek my brethren: tell me, I pray thee, where they feed their flocks.
“I am looking for my brothers,” Joseph replied. “Can you please tell me where they are pasturing their flocks?”

pregnant by the man to whom these items belong.” And she added, “
Please examine them. Whose seal and cord and staff are these?”
But think on me when it shall be well with thee, and
shew kindness, I pray thee, unto me, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house:
But when it goes well for you, please remember me and show me kindness by mentioning me to Pharaoh, that he might bring me out of this prison.
And the thing was good in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of all his servants.
This proposal pleased Pharaoh and all his officials.
And they said one to another, We are
verily guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the
anguish of his soul, when he
besought us, and we would not hear; therefore is this distress come upon us.
Then they said to one another, “Surely we are being punished because of our brother. We saw his
anguish when he
pleaded with us, but we would not
listen. That is why this distress has come upon us.”
And said, O sir, we came indeed down at the first time to
buy food:
“
Please, sir,” they said, “we really did come down here the first time to
buy food.
And Judah said, What shall we say unto my lord? what shall we speak? or how shall we clear ourselves? God hath found out the iniquity of thy servants: behold, we are my lord’s servants, both we, and he also with whom the cup is found.
“What can we say to my lord?” Judah replied. “How can we
plead? How can we
justify ourselves? God has exposed the iniquity of your servants. We are now my lord’s slaves—both we and the one who was found with the cup.”
Then Judah came near unto him, and said, Oh my lord, let thy servant, I pray thee, speak a word in my lord’s ears, and let not thine anger burn against thy servant: for thou art even as Pharaoh.
Then Judah approached Joseph and said, “Sir,
please let your servant speak personally to my lord. Do not be
angry with your servant, for you are equal to Pharaoh himself.
Now therefore, I pray thee, let thy servant
abide instead of the
lad a
bondman to my lord; and let the
lad go up with his brethren.
Now please let your servant stay here as my lord’s slave in place of the boy. Let him return with his brothers.
And Joseph said unto his brethren, Come near to me, I pray you. And they came near. And he said, I am Joseph your brother, whom ye sold into Egypt.

They said moreover unto Pharaoh, For to
sojourn in the land are we come; for thy servants have no pasture for their flocks; for the famine is
sore in the land of
Canaan: now therefore, we pray thee, let thy servants dwell in the land of
Goshen.
Then they said to Pharaoh, “We have come to live in the land for a time, because there is no pasture for the flocks of your servants, since the famine in the land of
Canaan has been severe. So now,
please allow your servants to settle in the land of
Goshen.”
And Joseph said unto his father, They are my sons, whom God hath given me in this place. And he said, Bring them, I pray thee, unto me, and I will
bless them.

Please bring them to me, that I may
bless them.”

And when the days of his
mourning were past, Joseph spake unto the house of Pharaoh, saying, If now I have found grace in your eyes, speak, I pray you, in the ears of Pharaoh, saying,
When the days of
mourning had passed, Joseph said to Pharaoh’s court, “If I have found favor in your eyes,
please tell Pharaoh that
So shall ye say unto Joseph,
Forgive, I pray thee now, the
trespass of thy brethren, and their sin; for they did unto thee evil: and now, we pray thee,
forgive the
trespass of the servants of the God of thy father. And Joseph
wept when they spake unto him.
‘This is what you are to say to Joseph: I
beg you,
please forgive the
transgression and sin of your brothers, for they did you wrong.’ So now, Joseph,
please forgive the
transgression of the servants of the God of your father.” When their message came to him, Joseph
wept.
And they shall
hearken to thy voice: and thou shalt come, thou and the elders of Israel, unto the king of Egypt, and ye shall say unto him, The LORD God of the Hebrews hath met with us: and now let us go, we
beseech thee, three days’ journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to the LORD our God.
The elders of Israel will
listen to what you say, and you must go with them to the king of Egypt and tell him, ‘The LORD, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us. Now
please let us take a three-day journey into the wilderness, so that we may sacrifice to the LORD our God.’
And Moses said unto the LORD, O my Lord, I am not
eloquent, neither
heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.
“
Please, Lord,” Moses replied, “I have never been
eloquent, neither in the past nor since You have spoken to Your servant, for I am slow of speech and tongue.”
And he said, O my Lord, send, I pray thee, by the hand of him whom thou
wilt send.
But Moses replied, “Please, Lord, send someone else.”
And Moses went and returned to Jethro his father in law, and said unto him, Let me go, I pray thee, and return unto my brethren which are in Egypt, and see whether they be yet alive. And Jethro said to Moses, Go in peace.
Then Moses went back to his father-in-law Jethro and said to him, “Please let me return to my brothers in Egypt to see if they are still alive.” “Go in peace,” Jethro replied.
And they said, The God of the Hebrews hath met with us: let us go, we pray thee, three days’ journey into the desert, and sacrifice unto the LORD our God; lest he fall upon us with
pestilence, or with the sword.
“The God of the Hebrews has met with us,” they answered. “Please let us go on a three-day journey into the wilderness to sacrifice to the LORD our God, or He may strike us with plagues or with the sword.”
Now therefore
forgive, I pray thee, my sin only this once, and intreat the LORD your God, that he may take away from me this death only.
Now
please forgive my sin once more and appeal to the LORD your God, that He may remove this death from me.”
If she
please not her master, who hath
betrothed her to himself, then shall he let her be redeemed: to sell her unto a strange nation he shall have no power, seeing he hath dealt
deceitfully with her.
If she is displeasing in the eyes of her master who had designated her for himself, he must allow her to be redeemed. He has no right to sell her to foreigners, since he has broken faith with her.
And thou shalt burn the whole ram upon the altar: it is a burnt offering unto the LORD: it is a sweet savour, an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
Then burn the entire ram on the altar; it is a burnt offering to the LORD, a
pleasing aroma, an offering made by fire to the LORD.
And thou shalt receive them of their hands, and burn them upon the altar for a burnt offering, for a sweet savour before the LORD: it is an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
Then take them from their hands and burn them on the altar
atop the burnt offering as a
pleasing aroma before the LORD; it is an offering made by fire to the LORD.
And the other lamb thou shalt offer at even, and shalt do
thereto according to the meat offering of the morning, and according to the drink offering thereof, for a sweet savour, an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
And offer the second lamb at
twilight with the same grain offering and drink offering as in the morning, as a
pleasing aroma, an offering made by fire to the LORD.
Yet now, if thou
wilt forgive their sin—; and if not,
blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written.
Yet now, if You would only
forgive their sin.... But if not,
please blot me out of the book that You have written.”
Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight,
shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people.
Now if indeed I have found favor in Your sight, please let me know Your ways, that I may know You and find favor in Your sight. Remember that this nation is Your people.”
Then Moses said, “Please show me Your glory.”
And he said, If now I have found grace in thy sight, O Lord, let my Lord, I pray thee, go among us; for it is a stiffnecked people; and
pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for thine inheritance.
“O Lord,” he said, “if I have indeed found favor in Your sight, my Lord,
please go with us. Although this is a stiff-necked people,
forgive our iniquity and sin, and take us as Your inheritance.”
But his inwards and his legs shall he wash in water: and the priest shall burn all on the altar, to be a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.
The
entrails and legs must be washed with water, and the priest shall burn all of it on the altar as a burnt offering, an offering made by fire, a
pleasing aroma to the LORD.
But he shall wash the inwards and the legs with water: and the priest shall bring it all, and burn it upon the altar: it is a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.
The
entrails and legs must be washed with water, and the priest shall bring all of it and burn it on the altar; it is a burnt offering, an offering made by fire, a
pleasing aroma to the LORD.
And he shall
cleave it with the wings thereof, but shall not divide it
asunder: and the priest shall burn it upon the altar, upon the wood that is upon the fire: it is a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.
He shall
tear it open by its wings, without dividing the bird completely. And the priest is to burn it on the altar
atop the burning wood. It is a burnt offering, an offering made by fire, a
pleasing aroma to the LORD.
And he shall bring it to Aaron’s sons the priests: and he shall take
thereout his handful of the flour thereof, and of the oil thereof, with all the
frankincense thereof; and the priest shall burn the
memorial of it upon the altar, to be an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD:
and bring it to Aaron’s sons the priests. The priest shall take a handful of the flour and oil, together with all the
frankincense, and burn this as a
memorial portion on the altar, an offering made by fire, a
pleasing aroma to the LORD.
And the priest shall take from the meat offering a
memorial thereof, and shall burn it upon the altar: it is an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.
The priest is to remove the
memorial portion from the grain offering and burn it on the altar as an offering made by fire, a
pleasing aroma to the LORD.
As for the
oblation of the firstfruits, ye shall offer them unto the LORD: but they shall not be burnt on the altar for a sweet savour.
You may bring them to the LORD as an offering of firstfruits, but they are not to be offered on the altar as a
pleasing aroma.
And Aaron’s sons shall burn it on the altar upon the burnt sacrifice, which is upon the wood that is on the fire: it is an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.
Then Aaron’s sons are to burn it on the altar
atop the burnt offering that is on the burning wood, as an offering made by fire, a
pleasing aroma to the LORD.
And the priest shall burn them upon the altar: it is the food of the offering made by fire for a sweet savour: all the fat is the LORD’S.
Then the priest is to burn the food on the altar as an offering made by fire, a
pleasing aroma. All the fat is the LORD’s.
And he shall take away all the fat thereof, as the fat is taken away from off the sacrifice of peace offerings; and the priest shall burn it upon the altar for a sweet savour unto the LORD; and the priest shall make an
atonement for him, and it shall be
forgiven him.
Then he is to remove all the fat, just as it is removed from the peace offering, and the priest is to burn it on the altar as a
pleasing aroma to the LORD. In this way the priest will make
atonement for him, and he will be
forgiven.
And he shall take of it his handful, of the flour of the meat offering, and of the oil thereof, and all the
frankincense which is upon the meat offering, and shall burn it upon the altar for a sweet savour, even the
memorial of it, unto the LORD.
The priest is to remove a handful of fine flour and olive oil, together with all the
frankincense from the grain offering, and burn the
memorial portion on the altar as a
pleasing aroma to the LORD.
In a pan it shall be made with oil; and when it is
baken, thou shalt bring it in: and the
baken pieces of the meat offering shalt thou offer for a sweet savour unto the LORD.
It shall be prepared with oil on a
griddle; you are to bring it well-
kneaded and present it as a grain offering broken in pieces, a
pleasing aroma to the LORD.
And he washed the inwards and the legs in water; and Moses burnt the whole ram upon the altar: it was a burnt sacrifice for a sweet savour, and an offering made by fire unto the LORD; as the LORD commanded Moses.
He washed the
entrails and legs with water and burned the entire ram on the altar as a burnt offering, a
pleasing aroma, an offering made by fire to the LORD, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
And Moses took them from off their hands, and burnt them on the altar upon the burnt offering: they were consecrations for a sweet savour: it is an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
Then Moses took these from their hands and burned them on the altar with the burnt offering. This was an
ordination offering, a
pleasing aroma, an offering made by fire to the LORD.
And the priest shall
sprinkle the blood upon the altar of the LORD at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and burn the fat for a sweet savour unto the LORD.
The priest will then
sprinkle the blood on the altar of the LORD at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting and burn the fat as a
pleasing aroma to the LORD.
And the meat offering thereof shall be two tenth deals of fine flour mingled with oil, an offering made by fire unto the LORD for a sweet savour: and the drink offering thereof shall be of wine, the fourth part of an
hin.
along with its grain offering of two-tenths of an
ephah of fine flour mixed with oil—an offering made by fire to the LORD, a
pleasing aroma—and its drink offering of a quarter
hin of wine.
And ye shall offer with the bread seven lambs without
blemish of the first year, and one young
bullock, and two rams: they shall be for a burnt offering unto the LORD, with their meat offering, and their drink offerings, even an offering made by fire, of sweet savour unto the LORD.
Along with the bread you are to present seven
unblemished male lambs a year old, one young bull, and two rams. They will be a burnt offering to the LORD, together with their grain offerings and drink offerings—an offering made by fire, a
pleasing aroma to the LORD.
And I will make your cities waste, and bring your
sanctuaries unto
desolation, and I will not smell the savour of your sweet odours.
I will reduce your cities to
rubble and lay waste your
sanctuaries, and I will refuse to smell the
pleasing aroma of your sacrifices.
And he said, Leave us not, I pray thee;
forasmuch as thou knowest how we are to
encamp in the wilderness, and thou mayest be to us instead of eyes.
“Please do not leave us,” Moses said, “since you know where we should camp in the wilderness, and you can serve as our eyes.
And if thou deal thus with me, kill me, I pray thee, out of hand, if I have found favour in thy sight; and let me not see my
wretchedness.
If this is how You are going to treat me,
please kill me right now—if I have found favor in Your eyes—and let me not see my own
wretchedness.”
And Aaron said unto Moses,
Alas, my lord, I
beseech thee, lay not the sin upon us, wherein we have done
foolishly, and wherein we have
sinned.
and said to Moses, “My lord,
please do not hold against us this sin we have so
foolishly committed.
Let her not be as one dead, of whom the flesh is half consumed when he cometh out of his mother’s
womb.
Please do not let her be like a
stillborn infant whose flesh is half consumed when he comes out of his mother’s
womb.”
So Moses
cried out to the LORD, “O God,
please heal her!”
And will make an offering by fire unto the LORD, a burnt offering, or a sacrifice in performing a
vow, or in a
freewill offering, or in your solemn feasts, to make a sweet savour unto the LORD, of the
herd, or of the flock:
and you present an offering made by fire to the LORD from the
herd or flock to produce a
pleasing aroma to the LORD—either a burnt offering or a sacrifice, for a special
vow or
freewill offering or appointed feast—
And for a drink offering thou shalt offer the third part of an
hin of wine, for a sweet savour unto the LORD.
and a third of a
hin of wine as a drink offering, a
pleasing aroma to the LORD.
And thou shalt bring for a drink offering half an
hin of wine, for an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.
Also present half a
hin of wine as a drink offering. It is an offering made by fire, a
pleasing aroma to the LORD.
All that are born of the country shall do these things after this manner, in offering an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.
Everyone who is native-born shall prepare these things in this way when he presents an offering made by fire as a
pleasing aroma to the LORD.
And if a stranger
sojourn with you, or
whosoever be among you in your generations, and will offer an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD; as ye do, so he shall do.
And for the generations to come, if a foreigner residing with you or someone else among you wants to prepare an offering made by fire as a
pleasing aroma to the LORD, he is to do exactly as you do.
Then it shall be, if ought be committed by ignorance without the knowledge of the congregation, that all the congregation shall offer one young
bullock for a burnt offering, for a sweet savour unto the LORD, with his meat offering, and his drink offering, according to the manner, and one
kid of the goats for a sin offering.
and if it was done
unintentionally without the knowledge of the congregation, then the whole congregation is to prepare one young bull as a burnt offering, a
pleasing aroma to the LORD, with its grain offering and drink offering according to the regulation, and one male goat as a sin offering.
But the
firstling of a cow, or the
firstling of a sheep, or the
firstling of a goat, thou shalt not
redeem; they are holy: thou shalt
sprinkle their blood upon the altar, and shalt burn their fat for an offering made by fire, for a sweet savour unto the LORD.
But you must not
redeem the

So
