forget that which thou hast done to him: then I will send, and
fetch thee from thence: why should I be deprived also of you both in one day?

rage against you wanes and he forgets what you have done to him. Then I will send for you and bring you back from there. Why should I lose both of you in one day?”

Lest the
avenger of the blood pursue the
slayer, while his heart is hot, and overtake him, because the way is long, and
slay him; whereas he was not worthy of death, inasmuch as he
hated him not in time past.
Otherwise, the
avenger of blood might pursue the
manslayer in a
rage, overtake him if the distance is great, and strike him dead though he did not deserve to die, since he did not intend any
harm.

bridle in thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.

bit in your mouth; I will send you back the way you came.’

leprosy broke out on his
forehead.

Oded: and he went out before the host that came to Samaria, and said unto them, Behold, because the LORD God of your fathers was
wroth with Judah, he hath delivered them into your hand, and ye have slain them in a
rage that reacheth up unto heaven.
But a prophet of the LORD named
Oded was there, and he went out to meet the army that returned to Samaria. “Look,” he said to them, “because of His wrath against Judah, the LORD, the God of your fathers, has delivered them into your hand. But you have slaughtered them in a
rage that reaches up to heaven.
And thou
didst divide the sea before them, so that they went through the midst of the sea on the dry land; and their persecutors thou threwest into the deeps, as a stone into the mighty waters.
You divided the sea before them, and they crossed through it on dry ground. You
hurled their pursuers into the depths like a stone into
raging waters.

rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
Why do the nations
rage and the peoples plot in vain?
Arise, O LORD, in thine anger, lift up
thyself because of the
rage of mine enemies: and
awake for me to the judgment that thou hast commanded.
Arise, O LORD, in Your anger; rise up against the
fury of my enemies.
Awake, my God, and
ordain judgment.
The heathen
raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.
Nations
rage, kingdoms
crumble; the earth melts when He lifts His voice.
Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall
devour before him, and it shall be very
tempestuous round about him.
Our God approaches and will not be silent!
Consuming fire precedes Him, and a
tempest rages around Him.
Behold, he
smote the rock, that the waters

fool rageth, and is
confident.

fool is careless and
reckless.
The
foolishness of man perverteth his way: and his heart fretteth against the LORD.
A man’s own folly subverts his way, yet his heart rages against the LORD.

roaring of a lion; but his favour is as
dew upon the grass.

rage is like the
roar of a lion, but his favor is like
dew on the grass.

foolish man, whether he
rage or
laugh, there is no rest.

To go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the tops of the
ragged rocks, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to
shake terribly the earth.
They will
flee to caverns in the rocks and crevices in the cliffs, away from the terror of the LORD and from the
splendor of His majesty, when He rises to
shake the earth.
I will send him against an
hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the
spoil, and to take the prey, and to
tread them down like the
mire of the streets.
I will send him against a godless nation; I will
dispatch him against a people destined for My
rage, to take spoils and seize
plunder, and to
trample them down like clay in the streets.
He who
smote the people in wrath with a continual stroke, he that ruled the nations in anger, is
persecuted, and none hindereth.
It struck the peoples in anger with unceasing blows; it subdued the nations in
rage with relentless persecution.
Woe to the multitude of many people, which make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the
rushing of nations, that make a
rushing like the
rushing of mighty waters!
The nations shall
rush like the
rushing of many waters: but God shall
rebuke them, and they shall
flee far off, and shall be
chased as the
chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before the
whirlwind.
The nations
rage like the
rush of many waters. He rebukes them, and they
flee far away, driven before the wind like
chaff on the hills, like tumbleweeds before a
gale.
But I know thy abode, and thy going out, and thy coming in, and thy
rage against me.
But I know your sitting down, your going out and coming in, and your
raging against Me.
Because thy
rage against me, and thy
tumult, is come up into mine ears, therefore will I put my hook in thy nose, and my
bridle in thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.
Because your
rage and
arrogance against Me have reached My ears, I will put My hook in your nose and My
bit in your mouth; I will send you back the way you came.’

ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that
strive with thee shall perish.

rage against you will be
ashamed and disgraced; those who
contend with you will be reduced to nothing and will perish.
Surely, shall one say, in the LORD have I righteousness and strength: even to him shall men come; and all that are incensed against him shall be
ashamed.
Surely they will say of Me, ‘In the LORD alone are righteousness and strength.’” All who
rage against Him will come to Him and be put to shame.
So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.
So shall they fear the name of the LORD where the sun sets, and His glory where it rises. For He will come like a
raging flood, driven by the breath of the LORD.
But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as
filthy rags; and we all do
fade as a leaf; and our
iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
Each of us has become like something unclean, and all our righteous acts are like
filthy rags; we all wither like a leaf, and our
iniquities carry us away like the wind.
So Ebed-melech took the men with him, and went into the house of the king under the treasury, and took thence old cast clouts and old
rotten rags, and let them down by cords into the
dungeon to Jeremiah.
Then Ebed-melech took the men with him and went to the king’s palace, to a place below the
storehouse. From there he took old
rags and worn-out clothes and lowered them with ropes to Jeremiah in the
cistern.
And Ebed-melech the
Ethiopian said unto Jeremiah, Put now these old cast clouts and
rotten rags under thine armholes under the cords. And Jeremiah did so.
Ebed-melech the
Cushite cried out to Jeremiah, “Put these worn-out
rags and clothes under your arms to
pad the ropes.” Jeremiah did so,
Come up, ye horses; and
rage, ye
chariots; and let the mighty men come forth; the Ethiopians and the Libyans, that handle the shield; and the Lydians, that handle and bend the bow.
Advance, O horses! Race
furiously, O
chariots! Let the warriors come forth—
Cush and Put carrying their shields, men of
Lydia drawing the bow.
So it shall be a reproach and a
taunt, an instruction and an
astonishment unto the nations that are round about thee, when I shall
execute judgments in thee in anger and in
fury and in
furious rebukes. I the LORD have spoken it.
So you will be a reproach and a
taunt, a
warning and a
horror to the nations around you, when I
execute judgments against you in anger, wrath, and
raging fury. I, the LORD, have spoken.
And I will set my jealousy against thee, and they shall deal
furiously with thee: they shall take away thy nose and thine ears; and thy
remnant shall fall by the sword: they shall take thy sons and thy daughters; and thy residue shall be
devoured by the fire.
And I will set My
jealous rage against you, and they will deal with you in
fury. They will cut off your noses and ears, and your survivors will fall by the sword. They will seize your sons and daughters, and your
remnant will be consumed by fire.
For in my jealousy and in the fire of my wrath have I spoken, Surely in that day there shall be a great
shaking in the land of Israel;
Then was
Nebuchadnezzar full of
fury, and the form of his
visage was changed against
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abed-nego: therefore he spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was
wont to be heated.
At this,
Nebuchadnezzar was filled with
rage, and the expression on his face changed toward
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abednego. He gave orders to heat the furnace seven times hotter than usual,
And I saw him come close unto the ram, and he was moved with
choler against him, and
smote the ram, and
brake his two horns: and there was no power in the ram to stand before him, but he cast him down to the ground, and stamped upon him: and there was none that could deliver the ram out of his hand.
I saw him approach the ram in a
rage against him, and he struck the ram and
shattered his two horns. The ram was powerless to stand against him, and the goat threw him to the ground and
trampled him, and no one could deliver the ram from his power.
And the king of the south shall be moved with
choler, and shall come forth and fight with him, even with the king of the north: and he shall set forth a great multitude; but the multitude shall be given into his hand.
In a
rage, the king of the South will march out to fight the king of the North, who will raise a large army, but it will be delivered into the hand of his enemy.
For the ships of
Chittim shall come against him: therefore he shall be
grieved, and return, and have
indignation against the holy covenant: so shall he do; he shall even return, and have intelligence with them that
forsake the holy covenant.
Ships of Kittim will come against him, and he will lose heart. Then he will turn back and
rage against the holy covenant and do damage. So he will return and show favor to those who
forsake the holy covenant.
They return, but not to the most High: they are like a
deceitful bow: their princes shall fall by the sword for the
rage of their tongue: this shall be their
derision in the land of Egypt.
They turn, but not to the Most High; they are like a
faulty bow. Their leaders will fall by the sword for the
cursing of their tongue; for this they will be
ridiculed in the land of Egypt.
Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of
Edom, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all
pity, and his anger did
tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever:
This is what the LORD says: “For three transgressions of
Edom, even four, I will not
revoke My judgment, because he pursued his brother with the sword and
stifled all
compassion; his anger
raged continually, and his
fury flamed
incessantly.
Nevertheless the men rowed hard to bring it to the land; but they could not: for the sea wrought, and was
tempestuous against them.
Nevertheless, the men rowed hard to get back to dry land, but they could not, for the sea was
raging against them more and more.
So they took up
Jonah, and cast him forth into the sea: and the sea ceased from her
raging.
At this, they
picked up
Jonah and cast him into the sea, and the
raging sea grew calm.
I will bear the
indignation of the LORD, because I have
sinned against him, until he
plead my cause, and
execute judgment for me: he will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold his righteousness.
Because I have
sinned against Him, I must
endure the
rage of the LORD, until He argues my case and executes justice for me. He will bring me into the light; I will see His righteousness.
The
chariots shall
rage in the streets, they shall
justle one against another in the broad ways: they shall seem like torches, they shall run like the lightnings.
Was the LORD displeased against the rivers? was thine anger against the rivers? was thy wrath against the sea, that thou
didst ride upon thine horses and thy
chariots of salvation?
Were You
angry at the rivers, O LORD? Was Your wrath against the streams? Did You
rage against the sea when You
rode on Your horses, on Your
chariots of salvation?
Then Herod, when he saw that he was
mocked of the wise men, was exceeding
wroth, and sent forth, and
slew all the children that were in
Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had
diligently enquired of the wise men.
When Herod saw that he had been outwitted by the
Magi, he was filled with
rage. Sending orders, he put to death all the boys in
Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, according to the time he had learned from the

And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds
blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
The rain fell, the torrents
raged, and the winds
blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because its foundation was on the rock.
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds
blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
The rain fell, the torrents
raged, and the winds
blew and beat against that house, and it fell—and great was its
collapse!”
Which was the son of Saruch, which was the son of
Ragau, which was the son of Phalec, which was the son of
Heber, which was the son of Sala,
the son of Serug, the son of Reu, the son of Peleg, the son of Eber, the son of Shelah,
And they were filled with madness; and communed one with another what they might do to Jesus.
And they came to him, and
awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and
rebuked the wind and the
raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm.
The disciples went and
woke Him, saying, “Master, Master, we are perishing!” Then Jesus got up and
rebuked the wind and the
raging waters, and they
subsided, and all was calm.
Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen
rage, and the people imagine vain things?
You spoke by the Holy Spirit through the mouth of Your servant, our father David: ‘Why do the nations
rage and the peoples plot in vain?
I frequently had them punished in the synagogues, and I tried to make them
blaspheme. In my
raging fury against them, I even went to foreign cities to
persecute them.
For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and that I shall be found unto you such as ye would not: lest there be debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults:
For I am afraid that when I come, I may not find you as I wish, and you may not find me as you wish. I fear that there may be quarreling, jealousy,
rage,
rivalry,
slander,
gossip,
arrogance, and disorder.
Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all
malice:
Get rid of all bitterness,
rage and anger, outcry and
slander, along with every form of
malice.
But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath,
malice,
blasphemy,
filthy communication out of your mouth.
But now you must put aside all such things as these: anger,
rage,
malice,
slander, and
filthy language from your lips.
Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed
valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
quenched the
raging fire, and escaped the edge of the sword; who gained strength from weakness, became mighty in battle, and put foreign armies to flight.
Raging waves of the sea,
foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.
They are wild waves of the sea,
foaming up their own shame; wandering stars, for whom blackest darkness has been reserved
forever.
Also the Carmanians
raging in wrath shall go forth as the wild boars of the wood, and with great power shall they come, and join battle with them, and shall waste a portion of the land of the Assyrians.
And I went into Media, and left in trust with Gabael, the brother of Gabrias, at Rages a city of Media ten talents of silver.
It came to pass the same day, that in Ecbatane a city of Media Sara the daughter of Raguel was also reproached by her father’s maids;
And Raphael was sent to
heal them both, that is, to scale away the whiteness of
Tobit’s eyes, and to give Sara the daughter of
Raguel for a wife to Tobias the son of
Tobit; and to bind
Asmodeus the evil spirit; because she belonged to Tobias by right of inheritance. The
selfsame time came
Tobit home, and entered into his house, and Sara the daughter of
Raguel came down from her upper chamber.
In that day
Tobit remembered the money which he had committed to Gabael in
Rages of Media,
And now I
signify this to they that I committed ten talents to Gabael the son of Gabrias at
Rages in Media.
But he knew not; and he said unto him, Canst thou go with me to Rages? and knowest thou those places well?
And when they were come near to Rages,
The angel said to the young man, Brother, to day we shall
lodge with
Raguel, who is thy cousin; he also hath one only daughter, named Sara; I will speak for her, that she may be given thee for a wife.
And the
maid is fair and wise: now therefore hear me, and I will speak to her father; and when we return from
Rages we will
celebrate the marriage: for I know that
Raguel cannot marry her to another according to the law of Moses, but he shall be guilty of death, because the right of inheritance
doth rather
appertain to thee than to any other.
And when they were come to Ecbatane, they came to the house of
Raguel, and Sara met them: and after they had
saluted one another, she brought them into the house.
Then said
Raguel to Edna his wife, How like is this young man to
Tobit my cousin!
And
Raguel asked them, From whence are ye, brethren? To whom they said, We are of the sons of Nephthalim, which are
captives in Nineve.
So he communicated the matter with
Raguel: and
Raguel said to Tobias, Eat and drink, and make
merry:
Raguel said, Then take her from henceforth according to the manner, for thou art her cousin, and she is thine, and the
merciful God give you good success in all things.
After Raguel called his wife Edna, and said unto her, Sister, prepare another chamber, and bring her in thither.
So they
slept both that night. And
Raguel arose, and went and made a grave,
But when Raguel was come into his house,
Then
Raguel praised God, and said, O God, thou art worthy to be praised with all pure and holy praise; therefore let thy saints praise thee with all thy creatures; and let all thine angels and thine
elect praise thee for ever.
