Therefore
say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD;
Repent, and turn
yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations.
Therefore tell the house of Israel that this is what the Lord GOD
says: ‘
Repent and turn away from your idols; turn your faces away from all your abominations.
The word of the LORD came again to me, saying,
And the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Or if I bring a sword upon that land, and say, Sword, go through the land; so that I cut off man and beast from it:
Or if I bring a sword against that land and say, ‘Let a sword pass through it,’ so that I cut off from it both man and beast,
For thus saith the Lord GOD; How much more when I send my four
sore judgments upon Jerusalem, the sword, and the famine, and the
noisome beast, and the
pestilence, to cut off from it man and beast?
For this is what the Lord GOD
says: ‘How much worse will it be when I send against Jerusalem My four
dire judgments—sword, famine, wild beasts, and plague—in order to cut off from it both man and beast?
And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; As the vine tree among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so will I give the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘Like the wood of the vine among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so I will give up the people of Jerusalem.
Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Again the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
And
say, Thus saith the Lord GOD unto Jerusalem; Thy birth and thy
nativity is of the land of
Canaan; thy father was an Amorite, and thy mother an Hittite.
and tell her that this is what the Lord GOD
says to Jerusalem: Your origin and your birth were in the land of the
Canaanites. Your father was an Amorite and your mother a Hittite.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thy
filthiness was poured out, and thy nakedness discovered through thy whoredoms with thy lovers, and with all the idols of thy abominations, and by the blood of thy children, which thou
didst give unto them;
This is what the Lord GOD
says: Because you poured out your wealth and exposed your nakedness in your
promiscuity with your lovers and with all your
detestable idols, and because of the blood of your children which you gave to them,
Behold, every one that useth
proverbs shall use this
proverb against thee,
saying, As is the mother, so is her daughter.
For thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even deal with thee as thou hast done, which hast
despised the oath in breaking the covenant.
For this is what the Lord GOD
says: I will deal with you according to your deeds, since you have
despised the oath by breaking the covenant.
And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Now the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
And
say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; A great eagle with great wings, longwinged, full of feathers, which had
divers colours, came unto
Lebanon, and took the highest branch of the
cedar:
and tell them that this is what the Lord GOD
says: ‘A great eagle with great wings and long pinions, full of feathers of many colors, came to
Lebanon and took away the top of the
cedar.
Say thou, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Shall it
prosper? shall he not pull up the roots thereof, and cut off the fruit thereof, that it wither? it shall wither in all the leaves of her spring, even without great power or many people to
pluck it up by the roots thereof.
So you are to tell them that this is what the Lord GOD
says: ‘Will it
flourish? Will it not be uprooted and
stripped of its fruit so that it shrivels? All its foliage will wither! It will not take a strong arm or many people to pull it up by its roots.
Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Say now to the
rebellious house, Know ye not what these things mean? tell them, Behold, the king of Babylon is come to Jerusalem, and hath taken the king thereof, and the princes thereof, and led them with him to Babylon;
“Now
say to this
rebellious house: ‘Do you not know what these things mean?’ Tell them, ‘Behold, the king of Babylon came to Jerusalem, carried off its king and officials, and brought them back with him to Babylon.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; As I live, surely mine oath that he hath
despised, and my covenant that he hath broken, even it will I
recompense upon his own head.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD
says: ‘As surely as I live, I will bring down upon his head My oath that he
despised and My covenant that he broke.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also take of the highest branch of the high
cedar, and will set it; I will crop off from the top of his young twigs a tender one, and will plant it upon an high mountain and eminent:
This is what the Lord GOD
says: ‘I will take a shoot from the lofty top of the
cedar, and I will set it out. I will
pluck a tender
sprig from its
topmost shoots, and I will plant it on a high and lofty mountain.
The word of the LORD came unto me again, saying,
Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
What mean ye, that ye use this
proverb concerning the land of Israel,
saying, The fathers have eaten
sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge?
“What do you people mean by
quoting this
proverb about the land of Israel: ‘The fathers have eaten
sour grapes, and the teeth of the children are set on edge’?
Yet
say ye, Why?
doth not the son bear the iniquity of the father? When the son hath done that which is lawful and right, and hath kept all my statutes, and hath done them, he shall surely live.
Yet you may ask, ‘Why shouldn’t the son bear the iniquity of his father?’ Since the son has done what is just and right, carefully observing all My statutes, he will surely live.
Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. Hear now, O house of Israel; Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal?
Yet you say, ‘The way of the Lord is not just.’ Hear now, O house of Israel: Is it My way that is unjust? Is it not your ways that are unjust?
Yet saith the house of Israel, The way of the Lord is not equal. O house of Israel, are not my ways equal? are not your ways unequal?
Yet the house of Israel says, ‘The way of the Lord is not just.’ Are My ways unjust, O house of Israel? Is it not your ways that are unjust?
And
say, What is thy mother? A
lioness: she lay down among lions, she
nourished her whelps among young lions.
and
say: ‘What was your mother? A
lioness among the lions! She lay down among the young lions; she reared her cubs.
Then came the word of the LORD unto me, saying,
Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Son of man, speak unto the elders of Israel, and
say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Are ye come to
enquire of me? As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will not be enquired of by you.
“Son of man, speak to the elders of Israel and tell them that this is what the Lord GOD says: Have you come to inquire of Me? As surely as I live, I will not be consulted by you, declares the Lord GOD.
And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the day when I chose Israel, and lifted up mine hand unto the seed of the house of Jacob, and made myself known unto them in the land of Egypt, when I lifted up mine hand unto them, saying, I am the LORD your God;
and tell them that this is what the Lord GOD
says: On the day I chose Israel, I
swore an oath to the descendants of the house of Jacob and made Myself known to them in the land of Egypt. With an
uplifted hand I said to them, ‘I am the LORD your God.’
Therefore, son of man, speak unto the house of Israel, and
say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Yet in this your fathers have
blasphemed me, in that they have committed a
trespass against me.
Therefore, son of man, speak to the house of Israel, and tell them that this is what the Lord GOD
says: In this way also your fathers
blasphemed Me by their unfaithfulness against Me.
Wherefore
say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Are ye
polluted after the manner of your fathers? and commit ye
whoredom after their abominations?
And that which cometh into your mind shall not be at all, that ye say, We will be as the heathen, as the families of the countries, to serve wood and stone.
When you say, ‘Let us be like the nations, like the peoples of the lands, serving wood and stone,’ what you have in mind will never come to pass.
As for you, O house of Israel, thus saith the Lord GOD; Go ye, serve ye every one his idols, and
hereafter also, if ye will not
hearken unto me: but
pollute ye my holy name no more with your gifts, and with your idols.
And as for you, O house of Israel, this is what the Lord GOD
says: Go and serve your idols, every one of you. But afterward, you will surely
listen to Me, and you will no longer
defile My holy name with your gifts and idols.
Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Now the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
And
say to the forest of the south, Hear the word of the LORD; Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will
kindle a fire in thee, and it shall
devour every green tree in thee, and every dry tree: the flaming flame shall not be
quenched, and all faces from the south to the north shall be burned therein.
Say to the forest of the Negev: Hear the word of the LORD! This is what the Lord GOD
says: I am about to
ignite in you a fire, and it will
devour all your trees, both green and dry. The
blazing flame will not be
quenched, and by it every face from south to north will be
scorched.
Then said I,
Ah Lord GOD! they
say of me,
Doth he not speak parables?
Then I said, “
Ah, Lord GOD, they are
saying of me, ‘Is he not just telling parables?’”
And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
And the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
And
say to the land of Israel, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I am against thee, and will draw forth my sword out of his
sheath, and will cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked.
and tell her that this is what the LORD
says: ‘I am against you, and I will draw My sword from its
sheath and cut off from you both the righteous and the wicked.
And it shall be, when they
say unto thee, Wherefore sighest thou? that thou shalt answer, For the
tidings; because it cometh: and every heart shall
melt, and all hands shall be feeble, and every spirit shall
faint, and all knees shall be weak as water: behold, it cometh, and shall be brought to pass, saith the Lord GOD.
And when they ask, ‘Why are you
groaning?’ you are to
say, ‘Because of the news that is coming. Every heart will
melt, and every hand will go
limp. Every spirit will
faint, and every
knee will turn to water.’
Yes, it is coming and it will surely happen, declares the Lord GOD.”
Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Again the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Son of man,
prophesy, and
say, Thus saith the LORD;
Say, A sword, a sword is sharpened, and also
furbished:
“Son of man,
prophesy and tell them that this is what the Lord
says: ‘A sword, a sword, sharpened and polished—
The word of the LORD came unto me again, saying,
Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because ye have made your iniquity to be remembered, in that your transgressions are discovered, so that in all your doings your sins do appear; because, I
say, that ye are come to
remembrance, ye shall be taken with the hand.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD
says: ‘Because you have drawn attention to your guilt,
exposing your transgressions, so that your sins are revealed in all your deeds—because you have come to
remembrance—you shall be taken in hand.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; Remove the
diadem, and take off the crown: this shall not be the same:
exalt him that is low, and
abase him that is high.
This is what the Lord GOD
says: ‘Remove the
turban, and take off the crown. Things will not remain as they are:
Exalt the lowly and bring low the
exalted.
And thou, son of man,
prophesy and
say, Thus saith the Lord GOD concerning the
Ammonites, and concerning their reproach; even
say thou, The sword, the sword is drawn: for the slaughter it is
furbished, to
consume because of the
glittering:
Now
prophesy, son of man, and declare that this is what the Lord GOD
says concerning the
Ammonites and their contempt: ‘A sword! A sword is drawn for slaughter, polished to
consume, to
flash like
lightning—
Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Then
say thou, Thus saith the Lord GOD, The city sheddeth blood in the midst of it, that her time may come, and maketh idols against herself to
defile herself.
and tell her that this is what the Lord GOD
says: ‘O city who brings her own
doom by
shedding blood within her walls and making idols to
defile herself,
And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because ye are all become
dross, behold, therefore I will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD
says: ‘Because all of you have become
dross, behold, I will gather you into Jerusalem.
And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
And the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Son of man,
say unto her, Thou art the land that is not
cleansed, nor rained upon in the day of
indignation.
“Son of man,
say to her, ‘In the day of
indignation, you are a land that has not been
cleansed, upon which no rain has fallen.’
And her prophets have
daubed them with untempered
morter, seeing vanity, and divining lies unto them,
saying, Thus saith the Lord GOD, when the LORD hath not spoken.
Her prophets
whitewash these deeds by false visions and lying divinations,
saying, ‘This is what the Lord GOD
says,’ when the LORD has not spoken.
The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying,
Again the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Therefore, O
Aholibah, thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will raise up thy lovers against thee, from whom thy mind is
alienated, and I will bring them against thee on every side;
Therefore, Oholibah, this is what the Lord GOD
says: ‘I will
incite your lovers against you, those from whom you turned away in
disgust. And I will bring them against you from every side—
For thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will deliver thee into the hand of them whom thou hatest, into the hand of them from whom thy mind is
alienated:
For this is what the Lord GOD
says: ‘Surely I will deliver you into the hands of those you
hate, from whom you turned away in
disgust.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou shalt drink of thy sister’s cup deep and large: thou shalt be
laughed to
scorn and had in
derision; it containeth much.
This is what the Lord GOD
says: ‘You will drink your sister’s cup, a cup deep and wide. It will bring
scorn and
derision, for it holds so much.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast forgotten me, and cast me behind thy back, therefore bear thou also thy
lewdness and thy whoredoms.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD
says: ‘Because you have forgotten Me and have cast Me behind your back, you must bear the consequences of your
indecency and
prostitution.’”
For thus saith the Lord GOD; I will bring up a company upon them, and will give them to be removed and
spoiled.
This is what the Lord GOD
says: ‘Bring a
mob against them and
consign them to terror and
plunder.
Again in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
In the ninth year, on the tenth day of the tenth month, the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
And utter a parable unto the
rebellious house, and
say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Set on a pot, set it on, and also pour water into it:
Now speak a parable to this
rebellious house and tell them that this is what the Lord GOD
says: ‘Put the pot on the fire; put it on and pour in the water.
Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD;
Woe to the
bloody city, to the pot whose
scum is therein, and whose
scum is not gone out of it! bring it out piece by piece; let no lot fall up on it.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD
says: ‘
Woe to the city of
bloodshed, to the pot now
rusted, whose
rust will not come off! Empty it piece by piece; cast no lots for its contents.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD;
Woe to the
bloody city! I will even make the pile for fire great.
Also the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Then I answered them, The word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
So I answered them, “The word of the LORD came to me, saying:
Speak unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will
profane my sanctuary, the
excellency of your strength, the desire of your eyes, and that which your soul pitieth; and your sons and your daughters whom ye have left shall fall by the sword.
Tell the house of Israel that this is what the Lord GOD
says: ‘I am about to
desecrate My sanctuary, the pride of your power, the desire of your eyes, and the delight of your soul. And the sons and daughters you left behind will fall by the sword.’
The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying,
Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
And
say unto the
Ammonites, Hear the word of the Lord GOD; Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou saidst,
Aha, against my sanctuary, when it was
profaned; and against the land of Israel, when it was
desolate; and against the house of Judah, when they went into captivity;
Tell the
Ammonites to hear the word of the Lord GOD, for this is what the Lord GOD
says: ‘Because you
exclaimed, “
Aha!” when My sanctuary was
profaned, when the land of Israel was laid waste, and when the house of Judah went into exile,
For thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast
clapped thine hands, and stamped with the feet, and
rejoiced in heart with all thy
despite against the land of Israel;
For this is what the Lord GOD
says: ‘Because you
clapped your hands and stomped your feet and
rejoiced over the land of Israel with a heart full of contempt,
Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because that Moab and
Seir do
say, Behold, the house of Judah is like unto all the heathen;
This is what the Lord GOD
says: ‘Because Moab and
Seir said, “Look, the house of Judah is like all the other nations,”
Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because that
Edom hath dealt against the house of Judah by taking
vengeance, and hath greatly
offended, and
revenged himself upon them;
This is what the Lord GOD
says: ‘Because
Edom acted vengefully against the house of Judah, and in so doing
incurred grievous guilt,
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also stretch out mine hand upon
Edom, and will cut off man and beast from it; and I will make it
desolate from Teman; and they of Dedan shall fall by the sword.
therefore this is what the Lord GOD
says: I will stretch out My hand against
Edom and cut off from it both man and beast. I will make it a wasteland, and from Teman to Dedan they will fall by the sword.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because the Philistines have dealt by
revenge, and have taken
vengeance with a
despiteful heart, to destroy it for the old hatred;
This is what the Lord GOD
says: ‘Because the Philistines acted in
vengeance, taking
vengeance with
malice of soul to destroy Judah with ancient hostility,
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will stretch out mine hand upon the Philistines, and I will cut off the Cherethims, and destroy the
remnant of the sea coast.
therefore this is what the Lord GOD
says: Behold, I will stretch out My hand against the Philistines, and I will cut off the Cherethites and destroy the
remnant along the coast.
And it came to pass in the
eleventh year, in the first day of the month, that the word of the LORD came unto me,
saying,
In the
eleventh month of the
twelfth year, on the first day of the month, the word of the LORD came to me,
saying,
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Tyrus, and will cause many nations to come up against thee, as the sea causeth his waves to come up.
therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘Behold, O Tyre, I am against you, and I will raise up many nations against you, as the sea brings up its waves.
For thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will bring upon Tyrus Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, a king of kings, from the north, with horses, and with
chariots, and with
horsemen, and companies, and much people.
For this is what the Lord GOD
says: ‘Behold, I will bring against Tyre from the north
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, king of kings, with horses and
chariots, with cavalry and a great company of troops.
Thus saith the Lord GOD to Tyrus; Shall not the isles
shake at the sound of thy fall, when the wounded cry, when the slaughter is made in the midst of thee?
This is what the Lord GOD
says to Tyre: ‘Will not the coastlands
quake at the sound of your
downfall, when the wounded
groan at the slaughter in your midst?
And they shall take up a
lamentation for thee, and
say to thee, How art thou destroyed, that
wast inhabited of
seafaring men, the
renowned city, which
wast strong in the sea, she and her inhabitants, which cause their terror to be on all that
haunt it!
Then they will
lament for you,
saying, “How you have perished, O city of
renown inhabited by
seafaring men— she who was powerful on the sea, along with her people, who imposed terror on all peoples!
For thus saith the Lord GOD; When I shall make thee a
desolate city, like the cities that are not inhabited; when I shall bring up the deep upon thee, and great waters shall cover thee;
For this is what the Lord GOD
says: ‘When I make you a
desolate city like other deserted cities, and when I raise up the deep against you so that the mighty waters cover you,
The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying,
Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
And
say unto Tyrus, O thou that art
situate at the entry of the sea, which art a merchant of the people for many isles, Thus saith the Lord GOD; O Tyrus, thou hast said, I am of perfect beauty.
Tell Tyre, who dwells at the
gateway to the sea, merchant of the peoples on many coasts, that this is what the Lord GOD
says: You have said, O Tyre, ‘I am perfect in beauty.’
And in their
wailing they shall take up a
lamentation for thee, and
lament over thee,
saying, What city is like Tyrus, like the destroyed in the midst of the sea?
As they
wail and
mourn over you, they will take up a
lament for you: ‘Who was ever like Tyre, silenced in the middle of the sea?
The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying,
And the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God:
“Son of man, tell the ruler of Tyre that this is what the Lord GOD says: Your heart is proud, and you have said, ‘I am a god; I sit in the seat of gods in the heart of the sea.’ Yet you are a man and not a god, though you have regarded your heart as that of a god.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast set thine heart as the heart of God;
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: Because you regard your heart as the heart of a god,
Wilt thou yet
say before him that slayeth thee, I am God? but thou shalt be a man, and no God, in the hand of him that slayeth thee.
Will you still
say, ‘I am a god,’ in the presence of those who
slay you? You will be only a man, not a god, in the hands of those who wound you.
Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Again the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Son of man, take up a
lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and
say unto him, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.
“Son of man, take up a
lament for the king of Tyre and tell him that this is what the Lord GOD
says: ‘You were the seal of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.
Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
And
say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Zidon; and I will be
glorified in the midst of thee: and they shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall have executed judgments in her, and shall be
sanctified in her.
And you are to declare that this is what the Lord GOD
says: ‘Behold, I am against you, O
Sidon, and I will be
glorified within you. They will know that I am the LORD when I
execute judgments against her and
demonstrate My
holiness through her.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; When I shall have gathered the house of Israel from the people among whom they are scattered, and shall be
sanctified in them in the sight of the heathen, then shall they dwell in their land that I have given to my servant Jacob.
This is what the Lord GOD says: ‘When I gather the house of Israel from the peoples among whom they have been scattered, I will show Myself holy among them in the sight of the nations. Then they will dwell in their own land, which I have given to My servant Jacob.
In the tenth year, in the tenth month, in the
twelfth day of the month, the word of the LORD came unto me,
saying,
In the tenth year, on the
twelfth day of the tenth month, the word of the LORD came to me,
saying,
Speak, and
say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great
dragon that lieth in the midst of his rivers, which hath said, My river is mine own, and I have made it for myself.
Speak to him and tell him that this is what the Lord GOD
says: Behold, I am against you, O Pharaoh king of Egypt, O great
monster who lies among his rivers, who
says, ‘The Nile is mine; I made it myself.’
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will bring a sword upon thee, and cut off man and beast out of thee.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: I will bring a sword against you and cut off from you man and beast.
Yet thus saith the Lord GOD; At the end of forty years will I gather the Egyptians from the people
whither they were scattered:
For this is what the Lord GOD says: At the end of forty years I will gather the Egyptians from the nations to which they were scattered.
And it came to pass in the seven and
twentieth year, in the first month, in the first day of the month, the word of the LORD came unto me,
saying,
In the twenty-seventh year, on the first day of the first month, the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will give the land of Egypt unto Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and he shall take her multitude, and take her
spoil, and take her prey; and it shall be the wages for his army.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD
says: I will give the land of Egypt to
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, who will carry off its wealth, seize its
spoil, and remove its
plunder. This will be the wages for his army.
The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying,
Again the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Son of man,
prophesy and
say, Thus saith the Lord GOD;
Howl ye,
Woe worth the day
“Son of man,
prophesy and declare that this is what the Lord GOD
says:
Wail, ‘
Alas for that day!’
Thus saith the LORD; They also that
uphold Egypt shall fall; and the pride of her power shall come down: from the tower of
Syene shall they fall in it by the sword, saith the Lord GOD.
For this is what the LORD
says: The allies of Egypt will fall, and her proud strength will
collapse. From
Migdol to
Syene they will fall by the sword within her, declares the Lord GOD.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also make the multitude of Egypt to cease by the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon.
This is what the Lord GOD
says: I will put an end to the hordes of Egypt by the hand of
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also destroy the idols, and I will cause their images to cease out of
Noph; and there shall be no more a prince of the land of Egypt: and I will put a fear in the land of Egypt.
This is what the Lord GOD
says: I will destroy the idols and put an end to the images in
Memphis. There will no longer be a prince in Egypt, and I will instill fear in that land.
