Also in the day of your
gladness, and in your solemn days, and in the beginnings of your months, ye shall blow with the
trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; that they may be to you for a
memorial before your God: I am the LORD your God.
And on your
joyous occasions, your appointed feasts, and the beginning of each month, you are to blow the
trumpets over your burnt offerings and
fellowship offerings to
serve as a reminder for you before your God. I am the LORD your God.”
And he said, Leave us not, I pray thee;
forasmuch as thou knowest how we are to
encamp in the wilderness, and thou mayest be to us instead of eyes.
“Please do not leave us,” Moses said, “since you know where we should camp in the wilderness, and you can serve as our eyes.
And it shall be unto you for a
fringe, that ye may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of the LORD, and do them; and that ye seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, after which ye use to go a
whoring:
These will
serve as tassels for you to look at, so that you may remember all the commandments of the LORD, that you may obey them and not
prostitute yourselves by following your own heart and your own eyes.
The censers of these sinners against their own souls, let them make them broad plates for a covering of the altar: for they offered them before the LORD, therefore they are
hallowed: and they shall be a sign unto the children of Israel.
As for the censers of those who
sinned at the cost of their own lives, hammer them into sheets to overlay the altar, for these were presented before the LORD, and so have become holy. They will
serve as a sign to the Israelites.”
Therefore thou and thy sons with thee shall keep your priest’s office for every thing of the altar, and within the
vail; and ye shall
serve: I have given your priest’s office unto you as a service of gift: and the stranger that cometh
nigh shall be put to death.
But only you and your sons shall attend to your priesthood for everything concerning the altar and what is inside the
veil, and you are to perform that service. I am giving you the work of the priesthood as a gift, but any outsider who comes near the sanctuary must be put to death.”
And, behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tenth in Israel for an inheritance, for their service which they serve, even the service of the tabernacle of the congregation.
Behold, I have given to the Levites all the
tithes in Israel as an inheritance in return for the work they do, the service of the Tent of Meeting.
Take the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, from twenty years old and upward, throughout their fathers’ house, all that are able to go to war in Israel.
“Take a census of the whole congregation of Israel by the houses of their fathers—all those twenty years of age or older who can serve in the army of Israel.”
And the earth opened her mouth, and
swallowed them up together with
Korah, when that company died, what time the fire
devoured two hundred and fifty men: and they became a sign.
And the earth opened its mouth and
swallowed them along with
Korah, whose followers died when the fire consumed 250 men. They
serve as a
warning sign.
And ye shall measure from without the city on the east side two thousand cubits, and on the south side two thousand cubits, and on the west side two thousand cubits, and on the north side two thousand cubits and the city shall be in the midst: this shall be to them the suburbs of the cities.
You are also to measure two thousand cubits outside the city on the east, two thousand on the south, two thousand on the west, and two thousand on the north, with the city in the center. These areas will serve as larger pasturelands for the cities.
Then ye shall
appoint you cities to be cities of refuge for you; that the
slayer may
flee thither, which killeth any person at unawares.
These six cities shall be a refuge, both for the children of Israel, and for the stranger, and for the
sojourner among them: that every one that killeth any person unawares may
flee thither.
These six cities will
serve as a refuge for the Israelites and for the foreigner or stranger among them, so that
anyone who kills a person
unintentionally may
flee there.
And lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest the sun, and the moon, and the stars, even all the host of heaven, shouldest be driven to worship them, and serve them, which the LORD thy God hath divided unto all nations under the whole heaven.
When you look to the heavens and see the sun and moon and stars—all the host of heaven—do not be
enticed to bow down and worship what the LORD your God has
apportioned to all the nations under heaven.
And there ye shall serve gods, the work of men’s hands, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell.
And there you will serve man-made gods of wood and stone, which cannot see or hear or eat or smell.
Thou shalt not bow down
thyself unto them, nor
serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a
jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that
hate me,
You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a
jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on their children to the third and fourth generations of those who
hate Me,
Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God, and
serve him, and shalt
swear by his name.
Fear the LORD your God, serve Him only, and take your oaths in His name.
For they will turn away thy son from following me, that they may
serve other gods: so will the anger of the LORD be
kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly.
because they will turn your sons away from following Me to serve other gods. Then the anger of the LORD will burn against you, and He will swiftly destroy you.
And thou shalt
consume all the people which the LORD thy God shall deliver thee; thine eye shall have no
pity upon them: neither shalt thou
serve their gods; for that will be a
snare unto thee.
You must destroy all the peoples the LORD your God will deliver to you. Do not look on them with
pity. Do not worship their gods, for that will be a
snare to you.
And it shall be, if thou do at all
forget the LORD thy God, and walk after other gods, and
serve them, and worship them, I
testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish.
If you ever
forget the LORD your God and go after other gods to worship and bow down to them, I
testify against you
today that you will surely perish.
At that time the LORD separated the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to minister unto him, and to
bless in his name, unto this day.
At that time the LORD set apart the tribe of Levi to carry the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to
serve Him, and to
pronounce blessings in His name, as they do to this day.
And now, Israel, what
doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to
serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,
And now, O Israel, what does the LORD your God ask of you but to fear the LORD your God by walking in all His ways, to love Him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul,
Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God; him shalt thou
serve, and to him shalt thou
cleave, and
swear by his name.
You are to fear the LORD your God and serve Him. Hold fast to Him and take your oaths in His name.
And it shall come to pass, if ye shall
hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love the LORD your God, and to
serve him with all your heart and with all your soul,
So if you carefully obey the commandments I am giving you
today, to love the LORD your God and to
serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul,
Take
heed to
yourselves, that your heart be not
deceived, and ye turn aside, and
serve other gods, and worship them;
But be careful that you are not
enticed to turn aside to worship and bow down to other gods,
Ye shall utterly destroy all the places, wherein the nations which ye shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree:
Destroy completely all the places where the nations you are dispossessing have
served their gods—
atop the high mountains, on the hills, and under every green tree.
Take
heed to
thyself that thou be not
snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou
enquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations
serve their gods? even so will I do likewise.
be careful not to be ensnared by their ways after they have been destroyed before you. Do not inquire about their gods, asking, “How do these nations serve their gods? I will do likewise.”
And the sign or the wonder come to pass,
whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us
serve them;
and if the sign or wonder he has spoken to you comes about, but he says, “Let us follow other gods (which you have not known) and let us worship them,”
Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall
serve him, and
cleave unto him.
You are to follow the LORD your God and fear Him. Keep His commandments and
listen to His voice;
serve Him and hold fast to Him.
If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy
bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul,
entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and
serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers;
If your very own brother, or your son or daughter, or the wife you embrace, or your closest friend secretly entices you, saying, “Let us go and worship other gods” (which neither you nor your fathers have known,
Certain men, the children of
Belial, are gone out from among you, and have withdrawn the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go and
serve other gods, which ye have not known;
that wicked men have arisen from among you and have led the people of their city
astray, saying, “Let us go and
serve other gods” (which you have not known),
And if thy brother, an Hebrew man, or an Hebrew woman, be sold unto thee, and serve thee six years; then in the seventh year thou shalt let him go free from thee.
If a fellow Hebrew, a man or a woman, is sold to you and serves you six years, then in the seventh year you must set him free.
And hath gone and served other gods, and worshipped them, either the sun, or moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded;
and going to worship other gods, bowing down to them or to the sun or moon or any of the host of heaven—which I have forbidden—
And the man that will do
presumptuously, and will not
hearken unto the priest that standeth to minister there before the LORD thy God, or unto the judge, even that man shall die: and thou shalt put away the evil from Israel.
But the man who acts
presumptuously, refusing to
listen either to the priest who stands there to
serve the LORD your God, or to the judge, must be put to death. You must
purge the evil from Israel.
Then he shall minister in the name of the LORD his God, as all his brethren the Levites do, which stand there before the LORD.
then he shall serve in the name of the LORD his God like all his fellow Levites who stand there before the LORD.
And it shall be, if it make thee answer of peace, and open unto thee, then it shall be, that all the people that is found therein shall be tributaries unto thee, and they shall serve thee.
If they accept your offer of peace and open their gates, all the people there will become forced laborers to serve you.
And the priests the sons of Levi shall come near; for them the LORD thy God hath chosen to minister unto him, and to
bless in the name of the LORD; and by their word shall every controversy and every stroke be tried:
And the priests, the sons of Levi, shall come forward, for the LORD your God has chosen them to
serve Him and
pronounce blessings in His name and to give a ruling in every dispute and case of
assault.
And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.
Do not turn aside to the right or to the left from any of the words I command you
today, and do not go after other gods to
serve them.
The LORD shall bring thee, and thy king which thou shalt set over thee, unto a nation which neither thou nor thy fathers have known; and there shalt thou serve other gods, wood and stone.
The LORD will bring you and the king you
appoint to a nation neither you nor your fathers have known, and there you will worship other gods—gods of wood and stone.
Because thou
servedst not the LORD thy God with
joyfulness, and with
gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things;
Because you did not
serve the LORD your God with joy and
gladness of heart in all your abundance,
Therefore shalt thou
serve thine enemies which the LORD shall send against thee, in hunger, and in
thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.
you will
serve your enemies the LORD will send against you in famine,
thirst, nakedness, and
destitution. He will place an iron yoke on your neck until He has destroyed you.
And the LORD shall
scatter thee among all people, from the one end of the earth even unto the other; and there thou shalt
serve other gods, which neither thou nor thy fathers have known, even wood and stone.
Then the LORD will
scatter you among all the nations, from one end of the earth to the other, and there you will worship other gods, gods of wood and stone, which neither you nor your fathers have known.
Lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turneth away this day from the LORD our God, to go and
serve the gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that beareth gall and
wormwood;
Make sure there is no man or woman, clan or tribe among you
today whose heart turns away from the LORD our God to go and worship the gods of those nations. Make sure there is no root among you that bears such poisonous and bitter fruit,
For they went and served other gods, and worshipped them, gods whom they knew not, and whom he had not given unto them:
They went and served other gods, and they worshiped gods they had not known—gods that the LORD had not given to them.
But if thine heart turn away, so that thou
wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and
serve them;
But if your heart turns away and you do not
listen, but are drawn away to bow down to other gods and worship them,
For when I shall have brought them into the land which I
sware unto their fathers, that floweth with milk and honey; and they shall have eaten and filled themselves, and
waxen fat; then will they turn unto other gods, and
serve them, and
provoke me, and break my covenant.
When I have brought them into the land that I
swore to give their fathers, a land flowing with milk and honey, they will eat their fill and
prosper. Then they will turn to other gods and worship them, and they will
reject Me and break My covenant.
That this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean ye by these stones?
to serve as a sign among you. In the future, when your children ask, ‘What do these stones mean to you?’
Now therefore ye are
cursed, and there shall none of you be freed from being
bondmen, and hewers of wood and drawers of water for the house of my God.
Now therefore you are under a
curse and will perpetually
serve as woodcutters and water carriers for the house of my God.”
But they did not drive out the
Canaanites who lived in
Gezer. So the
Canaanites dwell among the Ephraimites to this day, but they are forced laborers.
But take
diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the LORD charged you, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to
cleave unto him, and to
serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.
But be very careful to observe the commandment and the law that Moses the servant of the LORD gave you: to love the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways, to keep His commandments, to hold fast to Him, and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul.”
That ye come not among these nations, these that remain among you; neither make mention of the names of their gods, nor cause to
swear by them, neither
serve them, nor bow
yourselves unto them:
So you are not to associate with these nations that remain among you. You must not call on the names of their gods or
swear by them, and you must not
serve them or bow down to them.
When ye have
transgressed the covenant of the LORD your God, which he commanded you, and have gone and
served other gods, and bowed
yourselves to them; then shall the anger of the LORD be
kindled against you, and ye shall perish quickly from off the good land which he hath given unto you.
If you
transgress the covenant of the LORD your God, which He commanded you, and go and
serve other gods and bow down to them, then the anger of the LORD will burn against you, and you will quickly perish from this good land He has given you.”
And Joshua said unto all the people, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Your fathers dwelt on the other side of the flood in old time, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor: and they served other gods.
And Joshua said to all the people, “This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: ‘Long ago your fathers, including Terah the father of Abraham and
Nahor, lived beyond the Euphrates and worshiped other gods.
Now therefore fear the LORD, and
serve him in
sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers
served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and
serve ye the LORD.
Now, therefore, fear the LORD and
serve Him in
sincerity and truth; cast aside the gods your fathers
served beyond the Euphrates and in Egypt, and
serve the LORD.
And if it seem evil unto you to
serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will
serve; whether the gods which your fathers
served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the
Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will
serve the LORD.
But if it is unpleasing in your sight to
serve the LORD, then choose for
yourselves this day whom you will
serve, whether the gods your fathers
served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the
Amorites in whose land you are living. As for me and my house, we will
serve the LORD!”
And the people answered and said, God
forbid that we should
forsake the LORD, to
serve other gods;
The people replied, “Far be it from us to
forsake the LORD to
serve other gods!
And the LORD
drave out from before us all the people, even the
Amorites which dwelt in the land: therefore will we also
serve the LORD; for he is our God.
And the LORD drove out before us all the nations, including the
Amorites who lived in the land. We too will
serve the LORD, because He is our God!”
And Joshua said unto the people, Ye cannot
serve the LORD: for he is an holy God; he is a
jealous God; he will not
forgive your transgressions nor your sins.
But Joshua said to the people, “You are not able to
serve the LORD, for He is a holy God; He is a
jealous God; He will not
forgive your rebellion or your sins.
If ye
forsake the LORD, and
serve strange gods, then he will turn and do you
hurt, and
consume you, after that he hath done you good.
If you
forsake the LORD and
serve foreign gods, He will turn and bring
disaster on you and
consume you, even after He has been good to you.”
And the people said unto Joshua,
Nay; but we will
serve the LORD.
“No!” replied the people. “We will serve the LORD!”
And Joshua said unto the people, Ye are witnesses against
yourselves that ye have chosen you the LORD, to
serve him. And they said, We are witnesses.
Then Joshua told them, “You are witnesses against
yourselves that you have chosen to
serve the LORD.” “We are witnesses!” they said.
And the people said unto Joshua, The LORD our God will we serve, and his voice will we obey.
So the people said to Joshua, “We will serve the LORD our God and obey His voice.”
And Israel served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that overlived Joshua, and which had known all the works of the LORD, that he had done for Israel.
Israel had served the LORD throughout the days of Joshua and of the elders who outlived him and who had experienced all the works that the LORD had done for Israel.
Neither did
Zebulun drive out the inhabitants of Kitron, nor the inhabitants of Nahalol; but the
Canaanites dwelt among them, and became tributaries.
Zebulun failed to drive out the inhabitants of Kitron and Nahalol; so the
Canaanites lived among them and
served as forced laborers.
Neither did
Naphtali drive out the inhabitants of Beth-shemesh, nor the inhabitants of Beth-anath; but he dwelt among the
Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land: nevertheless the inhabitants of Beth-shemesh and of Beth-anath became tributaries unto them.
Naphtali failed to drive out the inhabitants of Beth-shemesh and Beth-anath. So the Naphtalites also lived among the
Canaanite inhabitants of the land, but the inhabitants of Beth-shemesh and Beth-anath
served them as forced laborers.
And the people served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great works of the LORD, that he did for Israel.
And the people served the LORD throughout the days of Joshua and of the elders who outlived him, who had seen all the great works that the LORD had done for Israel.
And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and
served Baalim:
And the Israelites did evil in the sight of the LORD and served the Baals.
for they
forsook Him and
served Baal and the Ashtoreths.
And it came to pass, when the judge was dead, that they returned, and corrupted themselves more than their fathers, in following other gods to
serve them, and to bow down unto them; they ceased not from their own doings, nor from their
stubborn way.
But when the judge died, the Israelites became even more corrupt than their fathers, going after other gods to
serve them and bow down to them. They would not give up their evil practices and
stubborn ways.
And they took their daughters to be their wives, and gave their daughters to their sons, and served their gods.
And they took the daughters of these people in marriage, gave their own daughters to their sons, and served their gods.
And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and
forgat the LORD their God, and
served Baalim and the groves.
So the Israelites did evil in the sight of the LORD; they
forgot the LORD their God and
served the Baals and the Asherahs.
Therefore the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Chushan-rishathaim king of
Mesopotamia: and the children of Israel
served Chushan-rishathaim eight years.
Then the anger of the LORD burned against Israel, and He sold them into the hand of Cushan-rishathaim king of
Aram-naharaim, and the Israelites
served him eight years.
So the children of Israel
served Eglon the king of Moab eighteen years.
The Israelites
served Eglon king of Moab eighteen years.
And the men of Ephraim said unto him, Why hast thou
served us thus, that thou calledst us not, when thou wentest to fight with the Midianites? And they did
chide with him sharply.
Then the men of Ephraim said to
Gideon, “Why have you done this to us? Why did you fail to call us when you went to fight against
Midian?” And they
contended with him violently.
And Gaal the son of Ebed said, Who is
Abimelech, and who is
Shechem, that we should
serve him? is not he the son of Jerubbaal? and Zebul his officer?
serve the men of Hamor the father of
Shechem: for why should we
serve him?
Then Gaal son of Ebed said, “Who is
Abimelech, and who is
Shechem, that we should
serve him? Is he not the son of Jerubbaal, and is not Zebul his officer? You are to
serve the men of Hamor, the father of
Shechem. Why should we
serve Abimelech?
Then said Zebul unto him, Where is now thy mouth,
wherewith thou saidst, Who is
Abimelech, that we should
serve him? is not this the people that thou hast
despised? go out, I pray now, and fight with them.
“Where is your
gloating now?” Zebul replied. “You said, ‘Who is
Abimelech that we should
serve him?’ Are these not the people you
ridiculed? Go out now and fight them!”
And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the LORD, and
served Baalim, and
Ashtaroth, and the gods of Syria, and the gods of Zidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of
Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines, and
forsook the LORD, and
served not him.
And again the Israelites did evil in the sight of the LORD. They
served the Baals, the Ashtoreths, the gods of
Aram,
Sidon, and Moab, and the gods of the
Ammonites and Philistines. Thus they
forsook the LORD and did not
serve Him.
And the children of Israel
cried unto the LORD, saying, We have
sinned against thee, both because we have
forsaken our God, and also
served Baalim.
Then the Israelites
cried out to the LORD, saying, “We have
sinned against You, for we have indeed
forsaken our God and
served the Baals.”
Yet ye have
forsaken me, and
served other gods: wherefore I will deliver you no more.
But you have
forsaken Me and
served other gods, so I will no longer save you.
And they put away the strange gods from among them, and
served the LORD: and his soul was
grieved for the misery of Israel.
So they put away the foreign gods from among them and served the LORD, and He could no longer bear the misery of Israel.
And
Phinehas, the son of
Eleazar, the son of Aaron, stood before it in those days,) saying, Shall I yet again go out to battle against the children of Benjamin my brother, or shall I cease? And the LORD said, Go up; for to
morrow I will deliver them into thine hand.
and
Phinehas son of
Eleazar, the son of Aaron,
served before it.) The Israelites asked, “Should we again go out to battle against our brothers the Benjamites, or should we stop?” The LORD answered, “Fight, for
tomorrow I will deliver them into your hand.”
Now
Eli was very old, and heard all that his sons did unto all Israel; and how they lay with the women that assembled at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
Now
Eli was very old, and he heard about everything his sons were doing to all Israel and how they were sleeping with the women who
served at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.
Be strong, and
quit yourselves like men, O ye Philistines, that ye be not servants unto the Hebrews, as they have been to you:
quit yourselves like men, and fight.
Take courage and be men, O Philistines! Otherwise, you will serve the Hebrews just as they served you. Now be men and fight!”
And Samuel spake unto all the house of Israel, saying, If ye do return unto the LORD with all your hearts, then put away the strange gods and
Ashtaroth from among you, and prepare your hearts unto the LORD, and
serve him only: and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.
Then Samuel said to all the house of Israel, “If you are returning to the LORD with all your hearts, then rid
yourselves of the foreign gods and Ashtoreths among you, prepare your hearts for the LORD, and
serve Him only. And He will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines.”
Then the children of Israel did put away
Baalim and
Ashtaroth, and
served the LORD only.
So the Israelites put away the Baals and Ashtoreths and served only the LORD.
According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt even unto this day,
wherewith they have
forsaken me, and
served other gods, so do they also unto thee.
Just as they have done from the day I brought them up out of Egypt until this day,
forsaking Me and serving other gods, so they are doing to you.
And let it be, when these signs are come unto thee, that thou do as occasion serve thee; for God is with thee.
When these signs have come, do as the occasion demands, for God is with you.
Soon Nahash the
Ammonite came up and laid siege to
Jabesh-
gilead. All the men of
Jabesh said to him, “Make a treaty with us, and we will
serve you.”
And they
cried unto the LORD, and said, We have
sinned, because we have
forsaken the LORD, and have
served Baalim and
Ashtaroth: but now deliver us out of the hand of our enemies, and we will
serve thee.
Then they
cried out to the LORD and said, ‘We have
sinned, for we have
forsaken the LORD and
served the Baals and Ashtoreths. Now deliver us from the hands of our enemies, that we may
serve You.’
If ye will fear the LORD, and
serve him, and obey his voice, and not
rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then shall both ye and also the king that reigneth over you continue following the LORD your God:
If you fear the LORD and
serve Him and obey His voice, and if you do not
rebel against the command of the LORD, and if both you and the king who reigns over you follow the LORD your God, then all will be well.
And Samuel said unto the people, Fear not: ye have done all this wickedness: yet turn not aside from following the LORD, but serve the LORD with all your heart;
“Do not be afraid,” Samuel replied. “Even though you have committed all this evil, do not turn aside from following the LORD, but serve the LORD with all your heart.
Only fear the LORD, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you.
Above all, fear the LORD and serve Him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things He has done for you.
If he be able to fight with me, and to kill me, then will we be your servants: but if I prevail against him, and kill him, then shall ye be our servants, and serve us.
If he is able to fight me and kill me, then we will be your servants. But if I prevail against him and kill him, then you shall be our servants and labor for us.”
And
Jonathan called David, and
Jonathan shewed him all those things. And
Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence, as in times past.
So
Jonathan summoned David and told him all these things. Then
Jonathan brought David to Saul to
serve him as he had before.
And she arose, and bowed herself on her face to the earth, and said, Behold, let thine
handmaid be a servant to wash the feet of the servants of my lord.
She arose, then bowed facedown and said, “Here is your
maidservant, ready to
serve and to wash the feet of my lord’s servants.”
Now therefore, I pray thee, let my lord the king hear the words of his servant. If the LORD have
stirred thee up against me, let him accept an offering: but if they be the children of men,
cursed be they before the LORD; for they have driven me out this day from
abiding in the inheritance of the LORD, saying, Go,
