realize they would
shoot from
atop the wall?
And the shooters shot from off the wall upon thy servants; and some of the king’s servants be dead, and thy servant Uriah the Hittite is dead also.
Then the archers shot at your servants from the wall, and some of the king’s servants were killed. And your servant Uriah the Hittite is dead as well.”

herb, as the grass on the house tops, and as corn blasted before it be grown up.

ashamed. They are like plants in the field, tender green
shoots, grass on the rooftops,
scorched before it is grown.

The sons of
Reuben, and the Gadites, and half the tribe of
Manasseh, of
valiant men, men able to bear
buckler and sword, and to
shoot with bow, and skilful in war, were four and forty thousand seven hundred and

The Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of
Manasseh had 44,760 warriors—

kinsmen from Benjamin):
And he made in Jerusalem engines, invented by
cunning men, to be on the towers and upon the bulwarks, to
shoot arrows and great stones
withal. And his name spread far abroad; for he was marvellously helped, till he was strong.
And in Jerusalem he made
skillfully designed devices to
shoot arrows and
catapult large stones from the towers and corners. So his fame spread far and wide, for he was helped
tremendously so that he became powerful.
Also I
shook my
lap, and said, So God
shake out every man from his house, and from his labour, that performeth not this promise, even thus be he
shaken out, and
emptied. And all the congregation said,
Amen, and praised the LORD. And the people did according to this promise.
I also
shook out the folds of my
robe and said, “May God likewise
shake out of His house and possession every man who does not keep this promise. May such a man be
shaken out and have nothing!” The whole assembly said, “
Amen,” and they praised the LORD. And the people did as they had promised.

arrow upon the string, that they may

All they that see me
laugh me to
scorn: they
shoot out the
lip, they
shake the head saying,
Let them
melt away as waters which run continually: when he bendeth his bow to
shoot his arrows, let them be as cut in pieces.
May they
vanish like water that runs off; when they draw the bow, may their arrows be
blunted.

tremble, that did
shake kingdoms;
Those who see you will
stare; they will
ponder your fate: “Is this the man who

tremble,
For the fields of
Heshbon languish, and the vine of Sibmah: the lords of the heathen have broken down the principal plants thereof, they are come even unto Jazer, they
wandered through the wilderness: her branches are stretched out, they are gone over the sea.
For the fields of
Heshbon have
withered, along with the grapevines of Sibmah. The rulers of the nations have
trampled its choicest vines, which had reached as far as Jazer and spread toward the desert. Their
shoots had spread out and passed over the sea.
For
afore the harvest, when the
bud is perfect, and the
sour grape is
ripening in the flower, he shall both cut off the sprigs with pruninghooks, and take away and cut down the branches.
For before the harvest, when the
blossom is gone and the flower becomes a
ripening grape, He will cut off the
shoots with a
pruning knife and remove and discard the branches.
He stretched out his hand over the sea, he
shook the kingdoms: the LORD hath given a commandment against the merchant city, to destroy the strong holds thereof.

Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor

comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
He grew up before Him like a tender
shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no stately form or majesty to
attract us, no beauty that we should desire Him.

yourselves in
array against Babylon round about: all ye that bend the bow,
shoot at her,

Spare no arrows! For she has
sinned against the LORD.
He
cropped off the top of his young twigs, and carried it into a land of
traffick; he set it in a city of merchants.
He
plucked off its
topmost shoot, carried it to the land of merchants, and planted it in a city of traders.
And it grew, and became a spreading vine of low
stature, whose branches turned toward him, and the roots thereof were under him: so it became a vine, and brought forth branches, and shot forth sprigs.
It
sprouted and became a spreading vine, low in height, with branches turned toward him; yet its roots remained where it stood. So it became a vine and yielded branches and sent out
shoots.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also take of the highest branch of the high
cedar, and will set it; I will crop off from the top of his young twigs a tender one, and will plant it upon an high mountain and eminent:
This is what the Lord GOD says: ‘I will take a
shoot from the lofty top of the
cedar, and I will set it out. I will
pluck a tender
sprig from its
topmost shoots, and I will plant it on a high and lofty mountain.
To the end that none of all the trees by the waters
exalt themselves for their height, neither
shoot up their top among the thick boughs, neither their trees stand up in their height, all that drink water: for they are all delivered unto death, to the
nether parts of the earth, in the midst of the children of men, with them that go down to the pit.
This happened so that no other trees by the waters would become great in height and set their tops among the clouds, and no other well-watered trees would reach them in height. For they have all been
consigned to death, to the depths of the earth, among the mortals who descend to the Pit.’

shoot forth, ye see and know of your own
selves that summer is now
nigh at hand.

sprout leaves, you can see for

Iconium.

earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were
shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.
And when they opposed themselves, and
blasphemed, he
shook his
raiment, and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean: from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles.
But when they opposed and
insulted him, he
shook out his garments and told them, “Your blood be on your own heads! I am innocent of it. From now on I will go to the Gentiles.”

shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no
harm.

And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree,
wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;
Now if some branches have been broken off, and you, a wild olive
shoot, have been
grafted in among the others to share in the
nourishment of the olive root,
Whose voice then
shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I
shake not the earth only, but also heaven.

shook the earth, but now He has promised, “Once more I will
shake not only the earth, but heaven as well.”

rage, newly created, breathing out either a
fiery vapour, or
filthy scents of scattered smoke, or
shooting horrible sparkles out of their eyes:

Judas’ side, even they sounded their
trumpets also, so that the earth
shook at the noise of the armies, and the battle continued from morning till night.
Then
Judas, thinking indeed that they would be profitable in many things, granted them peace:
whereupon they
shook hands, and so they departed to their tents.
