For
Mordecai the
Jew was next unto king
Ahasuerus, and great among the Jews, and accepted of the multitude of his brethren, seeking the wealth of his people, and
speaking peace to all his seed.
For
Mordecai the
Jew was second only to King
Xerxes, preeminent among the Jews and highly favored by his many
kinsmen, seeking the good of his people and
speaking peace to all his countrymen.

While he was yet
speaking, there came also another, and said, The Chaldeans made out three bands, and fell upon the camels, and have carried them away,

While he was still
speaking, another
messenger came and reported: “The Chaldeans formed three bands,
raided the camels, and took them away. They put the servants to the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you!”
While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, Thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother’s house:

But he said unto her, Thou
speakest as one of the
foolish women
speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.
“You
speak as a
foolish woman
speaks,” he told her. “Should we accept from God only good and not
adversity?” In all this, Job did not sin in what he said.
“If one ventures a word with you, will you be
wearied? Yet who can keep from
speaking?
Therefore I will not
refrain my mouth; I will
speak in the
anguish of my spirit; I will
complain in the bitterness of my soul.
Therefore I will not restrain my mouth; I will
speak in the
anguish of my spirit; I will
complain in the bitterness of my soul.
How long
wilt thou
speak these things? and how long shall the words of thy mouth be like a strong wind?
“How long will you go on saying such things? The words of your mouth are a
blustering wind.
Shall not they teach thee, and tell thee, and utter words out of their heart?
Will they not teach you and tell you, and speak from their understanding?
If I
speak of strength, lo, he is strong: and if of judgment, who shall set me a time to
plead?
If it is a matter of strength, He is indeed mighty! If it is a matter of justice, who can
summon Him?
Then would I speak, and not fear him; but it is not so with me.
Then I would speak without fear of Him. But as it is, I am on my own.
My soul is
weary of my life; I will leave my
complaint upon myself; I will
speak in the bitterness of my soul.
“I
loathe my own life; I will express my
complaint and
speak in the bitterness of my soul.
Should not the multitude of words be answered? and should a man full of talk be justified?
“Should this stream of words go unanswered and such a
speaker be
vindicated?
But oh that God would speak, and open his lips against thee;
But if only God would speak and open His lips against you,
Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee.
Or speak to the earth, and it will teach you; let the fish of the sea inform you.
Surely I would
speak to the
Almighty, and I desire to reason with God.
Yet I desire to
speak to the
Almighty and
argue my case before God.
Will ye
speak wickedly for God? and talk
deceitfully for him?
Will you
speak wickedly on God’s behalf or
speak deceitfully for Him?
Hold your peace, let me alone, that I may speak, and let come on me what will.
Be silent, and I will speak. Then let come to me what may.
Then call thou, and I will answer: or let me speak, and answer thou me.
Then call me, and I will answer, or let me speak, and You can reply.
I also could
speak as ye do: if your soul were in my soul’s
stead, I could
heap up words against you, and
shake mine head at you.
I could also
speak like you if you were in my place; I could
heap up words against you and
shake my head at you.
Though I
speak, my grief is not asswaged: and though I
forbear, what am I eased?
Even if I speak, my pain is not relieved, and if I hold back, how will it go away?
He that
speaketh flattery to his friends, even the eyes of his children shall fail.
If a man denounces his friends for a price, the eyes of his children will fail.
How long will it be
ere ye make an end of words? mark, and afterwards we will
speak.
“How long until you end these speeches? Show some sense, and then we can talk.
Suffer me that I may
speak; and after that I have spoken,
mock on.
Bear with me while I
speak; then, after I have spoken, you may go on
mocking.
My lips shall not
speak wickedness, nor my tongue utter
deceit.
my lips will not
speak wickedness, and my tongue will not utter
deceit.
The princes
refrained talking, and laid their hand on their mouth.
The princes
refrained from
speaking and covered their mouths with their hands.
Now
Elihu had waited till Job had spoken, because they were elder than he.
Now
Elihu had waited to
speak to Job because the others were older than he.
I said, Days should speak, and multitude of years should teach wisdom.
I thought that age should speak, and many years should teach wisdom.
They were
amazed, they answered no more: they left off
speaking.
Job’s friends are dismayed, with no more to say; words have escaped them.
I will speak, that I may be refreshed: I will open my lips and answer.
I must
speak and find relief; I must open my lips and
respond.
My words shall be of the uprightness of my heart: and my lips shall utter knowledge clearly.
My words are from an upright heart, and my lips
speak sincerely what I know.
For God
speaketh once,
yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not.
For God speaks in one way and in another, yet no one notices.
Mark well, O Job,
hearken unto me: hold thy peace, and I will
speak.
Pay attention, Job, and
listen to me; be silent, and I will
speak.
If thou hast any thing to say, answer me:
speak, for I desire to
justify thee.
But if you have something to say, answer me;
speak up, for I would like to
vindicate you.
Should it be according to thy mind? he will
recompense it, whether thou refuse, or whether thou choose; and not I: therefore
speak what thou knowest.
Should God repay you on your own terms when you have
disavowed His? You must choose, not I; so tell me what you know.
Job hath spoken without knowledge, and his words were without wisdom.
‘Job speaks without knowledge; his words lack insight.’
Suffer me a little, and I will
shew thee that I have yet to
speak on God’s behalf.
“Bear with me a little longer, and I will show you that there is more to be said on God’s behalf.
Shall it be told him that I
speak? if a man
speak, surely he shall be
swallowed up.
Should He be told that I want to
speak? Would a man ask to be
swallowed up?
Will he make many supplications unto thee? will he speak soft words unto thee?
Will he
beg you for mercy or
speak to you softly?
Hear, I
beseech thee, and I will
speak: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.
You said, ‘
Listen now, and I will
speak. I will question you, and you shall inform Me.’
Then shall he
speak unto them in his wrath, and
vex them in his
sore displeasure.
Then He rebukes them in His anger, and terrifies them in His
fury:
You destroy those who tell lies; the LORD abhors the man of
bloodshed and
deceit.
For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open
sepulchre; they
flatter with their tongue.
For not a word they
speak can be trusted; destruction lies within them. Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice
deceit.
They
speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with
flattering lips and with a double heart do they
speak.
They lie to one another; they
speak with
flattering lips and a double heart.
The LORD shall cut off all
flattering lips, and the tongue that
speaketh proud things:
He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.
He who walks with
integrity and practices righteousness, who
speaks the truth from his heart,
Their sorrows shall be multiplied that
hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips.
Sorrows will multiply to those who
chase other gods. I will not pour out their libations of blood, or
speak their names with my lips.
They are inclosed in their own fat: with their mouth they speak proudly.
Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, which speak peace to their neighbours, but mischief is in their hearts.
Do not
drag me away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, who
speak peace to their neighbors while
malice is in their hearts.
The voice of the LORD maketh the hinds to
calve, and discovereth the forests: and in his temple
doth every one
speak of his glory.
The voice of the LORD twists the oaks and strips the forests bare. And in His temple all cry, “Glory!”
Let the lying lips be put to silence; which
speak grievous things proudly and
contemptuously against the righteous.
May lying lips be silenced— lips that
speak with
arrogance against the righteous, full of pride and contempt.
Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from
speaking guile.
Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from
deceitful speech.
For they
speak not peace: but they
devise deceitful matters against them that are quiet in the land.
For they do not
speak peace, but they
devise deceitful schemes against those who live quietly in the land.
And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long.
Then my tongue will
proclaim Your righteousness and Your praises all day long.
The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment.
The mouth of the righteous man utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks justice.
They also that seek after my life lay snares for me: and they that seek my
hurt speak mischievous things, and imagine deceits all the day long.
Those who seek my life lay snares; those who wish me
harm speak destruction,
plotting deceit all day long.
I was
dumb with silence, I held my peace, even from good; and my sorrow was
stirred.
I was speechless and still; I remained silent, even from
speaking good, and my sorrow was
stirred.
Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.
Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders You have done, and the plans You have for us— none can compare to You— if I
proclaim and declare them, they are more than I can count.
Mine enemies speak evil of me, When shall he die, and his name perish?
My enemies say with
malice: “When will he die and be forgotten?”
And if he come to see me, he speaketh vanity: his heart gathereth iniquity to itself; when he goeth abroad, he telleth it.
My heart is
inditing a good matter: I
speak of the things which I have made touching the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.
My heart is
stirred by a noble
theme as I
recite my verses to the king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer.
My mouth shall
speak of wisdom; and the
meditation of my heart shall be of understanding.
My mouth will impart wisdom, and the
meditation of my heart will bring understanding.
The mighty God, even the LORD, hath spoken, and called the earth from the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof.
The Mighty One, God the LORD,
speaks and
summons the earth from where the sun rises to where it sets.
Hear, O my people, and I will
speak; O Israel, and I will
testify against thee: I am God, even thy God.
“Hear, O My people, and I will
speak, O Israel, and I will
testify against you: I am God, your God.
Thou sittest and speakest against thy brother; thou slanderest thine own mother’s son.
You sit and
malign your brother; you
slander your own mother’s son.
Against thee, thee only, have I
sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou
speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
Against You, You only, have I
sinned and done what is evil in Your sight, so that You may be proved right when You
speak and
blameless when You judge.
Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to
speak righteousness.
Selah.
You love evil more than good,
falsehood more than
speaking truth.
Selah Do ye indeed speak righteousness, O congregation? do ye judge uprightly, O ye sons of men?
Do you indeed speak justly, O rulers? Do you judge uprightly, O sons of men?
For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride: and for
cursing and lying which they
speak.
By the sins of their mouths and the words of their lips, let them be
trapped in their pride, in the curses and lies they utter.
But the king shall
rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by him shall glory: but the mouth of them that
speak lies shall be stopped.
But the king will
rejoice in God; all who
swear by Him will
exult, for the mouths of liars will be shut.
They
encourage themselves in an evil matter: they commune of laying snares
privily; they say, Who shall see them?
They hold fast to their evil purpose; they speak of hiding their snares. “Who will see them?” they say.
They that sit in the gate speak against me; and I was the song of the drunkards.
Those who sit at the gate
mock me, and I am the song of drunkards.
For mine enemies speak against me; and they that lay wait for my soul take counsel together,
For my enemies
speak against me, and those who lie in wait for my life
conspire,
