And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward:
Such confidence before God is ours through Christ.
But if the
ministration of death, written and
engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not
stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:
Now if the ministry of death, which was engraved in letters on stone, came with
such glory that the Israelites could not
gaze at the face of Moses because of its fleeting glory,
Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech:
Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold.
And
herein I give my advice: for this is expedient for you, who have begun before, not only to do, but also to be forward a year ago.
And this is my opinion about what is helpful for you in this matter: Last year you were the first not only to give, but even to have such a desire.
Let such an one think this, that, such as we are in word by letters when we are absent, such will we be also in deed when we are present.
Such people should consider that what we are in our letters when absent, we will be in our actions when present.
I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.
I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven. Whether it was in the body or out of it I do not know, but God knows.
And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;)
And I know that this man—whether in the body or out of it I do not know, but God knows—
Of
such an one will I glory: yet of myself I will not glory, but in mine
infirmities.
I will
boast about
such a man, but I will not
boast about myself, except in my weaknesses.
For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and that I shall be found unto you such as ye would not: lest there be debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults:
For I am afraid that when I come, I may not find you as I wish, and you may not find me as you wish. I fear that there may be quarreling, jealousy,
rage,
rivalry,
slander,
gossip,
arrogance, and disorder.
This
persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you.
Such persuasion does not come from the One who calls you.
Envyings, murders,
drunkenness, revellings, and
such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do
such things shall not
inherit the kingdom of God.
gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore
such an one in the spirit of
meekness; considering
thyself, lest thou also be
tempted.
Brothers, if someone is caught in a
trespass, you who are spiritual should restore him with a spirit of gentleness. But watch
yourself, or you also may be
tempted.
Let no man
deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
Let no one
deceive you with empty words, for because of
such things the wrath of God is coming on the sons of disobedience.
That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or
wrinkle, or any
such thing; but that it should be holy and without
blemish.
Receive him therefore in the Lord with all
gladness; and hold
such in reputation:
Welcome him in the Lord with great joy, and honor men like him,
Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath
whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more:
though I myself could have
such confidence. If
anyone else thinks he has grounds for confidence in the flesh, I have more:
Do not let
anyone who delights in false
humility and the worship of angels
disqualify you with speculation about what he has seen.
Such a person is
puffed up without basis by his unspiritual mind.
Which things have indeed a
shew of wisdom in will worship, and
humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.
Such restrictions indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-prescribed worship, their false
humility, and their harsh treatment of the body; but they are of no value against the
indulgence of the flesh.
But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath,
malice,
blasphemy,
filthy communication out of your mouth.
But now you must put aside all
such things as these: anger,
rage,
malice,
slander, and
filthy language from your lips.
and no one should ever
violate or
exploit his brother in this regard, because the Lord will
avenge all
such acts, as we have already told you and solemnly
warned you.
Now them that are
such we command and
exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.
We command and
urge such people by our Lord Jesus Christ to begin working quietly to
earn their own living.
Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have
lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints’ feet, if she have relieved the
afflicted, if she have
diligently followed every good work.
and well known for good deeds
such as bringing up children,
entertaining strangers, washing the feet of the saints, imparting relief to the
afflicted, and
devoting herself to every good work.
Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is
godliness: from
such withdraw
thyself.
and constant friction between men of
depraved mind who are devoid of the truth. These men regard
godliness as a means of gain.
And their word will eat as
doth a
canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;
and the talk of
such men will spread like
gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus,
Having a form of
godliness, but denying the power thereof: from
such turn away.
having a form of
godliness but denying its power. Turn away from
such as these!
Knowing that he that is
such is
subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.
knowing that such a man is corrupt and sinful; he is self-condemned.
Yet for love’s sake I rather
beseech thee, being
such an one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ.
I
prefer to appeal on the basis of love. For I, Paul, am now aged, and a prisoner of Christ Jesus as well.
How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
how shall we escape if we neglect
such a great salvation? This salvation was first
announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard Him,
For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
Although by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to reteach you the
basic principles of God’s word. You need milk, not solid food!
For
such an high priest became us, who is holy,
harmless,
undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;
Such a high priest truly befits us—One who is holy, innocent,
undefiled, set apart from sinners, and
exalted above the heavens.
Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;
The point of what we are saying is this: We do have such a high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven,
For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country.
Now those who say such things show that they are seeking a country of their own.
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which
doth so easily
beset us, and let us run with
patience the race that is set before us,
Therefore, since we are surrounded by
such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off every
encumbrance and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with
endurance the race set out for us.
Consider Him who
endured such hostility from sinners, so that you will not grow
weary and lose heart.
Let your conversation be without
covetousness; and be content with
such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor
forsake thee.
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, for God has said: “Never will I leave you, never will I
forsake you.”
But to do good and to communicate
forget not: for with
such sacrifices God is well pleased.
And do not neglect to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.
What
doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
What good is it, my brothers, if someone claims to have faith, but has no deeds? Can such faith save him?
Such wisdom does not come from above, but is earthly, unspiritual,
demonic.
Go to now, ye that say, To day or to
morrow we will go into
such a city, and continue there a year, and
buy and sell, and get gain:
Come now, you who say, “
Today or
tomorrow we will go to this or that city,
spend a year there, carry on business, and make a profit.”
As it is, you
boast in your proud intentions. All
such boasting is evil.
Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life you inherited from your forefathers,
Having your conversation
honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold,
glorify God in the day of
visitation.
Conduct
yourselves with
such honor among the Gentiles that, though they
slander you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and
glorify God on the day He visits us.
For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
For He received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to Him from the
Majestic Glory, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
For no such prophecy was ever brought forth by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the
lust of uncleanness, and
despise government.
Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of
dignities.
Such punishment is specially reserved for those who
indulge the corrupt desires of the flesh and
despise authority. Bold and self-willed, they are unafraid to
slander glorious beings.
Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing
accusation against them before the Lord.
Yet not even angels, though greater in strength and power,
dare to bring
such slanderous charges against them before the Lord.
But these, as natural
brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption;
These men are like
irrational animals, creatures of
instinct, born to be captured and destroyed. They
blaspheme in matters they do not understand, and like
such creatures, they too will be destroyed.
Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for
such things, be
diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and
blameless.
Therefore, beloved, as you
anticipate these things, make every effort to be found at peace—spotless and
blameless in His sight.
As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable
wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
He writes this way in all his letters, speaking in them about
such matters. Some parts of his letters are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people
distort, as they do the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.
For many deceivers are entered into the world, who
confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a
deceiver and an
antichrist.
For many deceivers have gone out into the world, refusing to
confess the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh. Any
such person is the
deceiver and the
antichrist.
For he that biddeth him God speed is
partaker of his evil deeds.
Whoever greets
such a person shares in his evil deeds.
We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be fellowhelpers to the truth.
Therefore we ought to support such men, so that we may be fellow workers for the truth.
And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.
And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying: “To Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power
forever and ever!”
And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great
earthquake,
such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an
earthquake, and so great.
And there were
flashes of
lightning, and rumblings, and peals of
thunder, and a great
earthquake the likes of which had not occurred since men were upon the earth—so mighty was the great
quake.
For in one hour so great riches is come to
nought. And every
shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood
afar off,
For in a single hour
such fabulous wealth has been destroyed!” Every
shipmaster,
passenger, and
sailor, and all who make their living from the sea, will stand at a distance
And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great
millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.
Then a mighty angel
picked up a stone the size of a great
millstone and cast it into the sea, saying: “With
such violence the great city of Babylon will be cast down, never to be seen again.
Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection! The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and will reign with Him for a thousand years.
And
such a
passover was not kept in Israel since the time of the prophet Samuel.
Yea, all the kings of Israel held not
such a
passover as Josias, and the priests, and the Levites, and the Jews, held with all Israel that were found dwelling at Jerusalem.
And
forasmuch as the things pertaining to the temple are now in hand, we think it meet not to neglect
such a matter,
O ye men, how should not the king be mightiest, when in such sort he is obeyed? And he held his tongue.
Wine is wicked, the king is wicked, women are wicked, all the children of men are wicked, and such are all their wicked works; and there is no truth in them; in their unrighteousness also they shall perish.
And they were not hindered from building, until
such time as signification was given unto
Darius concerning them, and an answer received.
Having determined to deal
graciously, I have given order, that
such of the nation of the Jews, and of the priests and Levites being within our realm, as are willing and
desirous should go with thee unto Jerusalem.
And commanded them that they should speak unto Daddeus, and to his brethren, and to the treasurers in that place, to send us
such men as might
execute the priests’ office in the house of the Lord.
And
didst give unto us
such a root: but we have turned back again to
transgress thy law, and to
mingle ourselves with the uncleanness of the nations of the land.
Then answered I and said, What man is able to do that, that thou shouldest ask such things of me?
He said moreover unto me, Thine own things, and such as are grown up with thee, canst thou not know;
For it was not my mind to be curious of the high things, but of
such as pass by us daily, namely, wherefore Israel is given up as a reproach to the heathen, and for what cause the people whom thou hast loved is given over unto ungodly nations, and why the law of our forefathers is brought to
nought, and the written covenants come to none effect,
To
shew thee
such tokens I have leave; and if thou
wilt pray again, and
weep as now, and fast even days, thou shalt hear yet greater things.
For God hath given strait commandment to such as came, what they should do to live, even as they came, and what they should observe to avoid punishment.
That there should not be
such heaviness in their destruction, as shall be joy over them that are persuaded to salvation.
For we and our fathers do
languish of
such diseases: but because of us sinners thou shalt be called
merciful.
Then answered he me, and said, Things present are for the present, and things to cometh for such as be to come.
But understand thou for
thyself, and seek out the glory for
such as be like thee.
For such as in their life have received benefits, and have not known me;
And he answered me, saying, Like as the field is, so is also the seed; as the flowers be,
such are the colours also;
such as the
workman is,
such also is the work; and as the
husbandman ls himself, so is his
husbandry also: for it was the time of the world.
For thou hast
afflicted the
meek, thou hast
hurt the peaceable, thou hast loved liars, and destroyed the dwellings of them that brought forth fruit, and hast cast down the walls of
such as did thee no
harm.
He that shall
endure the
peril in that time hath kept himself: they that be fallen into danger are
such as have works, and faith toward the
Almighty.
And because he governeth the same, and such things as fall in their seasons: and there I sat three days.
For thou shalt be taken away from all, and from henceforth thou shalt remain with my Son, and with such as be like thee, until the times be ended.
Now therefore set thine house in order, and reprove thy people, comfort
such of them as be in trouble, and now
renounce corruption,
But keep the seventy last, that thou mayest deliver them only to such as be wise among the people:
And they wondered at her beauty, and
admired the children of Israel because of her, and every one said to his neighbour, Who would
despise this people, that have among them
such women? surely it is not good that one man of them be left who being let go might
deceive the whole earth.
There is not such a woman from one end of the earth to the other, both for beauty of face, and wisdom of words.
For, lo, it will be a shame for our person, if we shall let
such a woman go, not having had her company; for if we draw her not unto us, she will
laugh us to
scorn.
Then sent Ozias to Betomasthem, and to Bebai, and Chobai, and Cola and to all the coasts of Israel,
such as should tell the things that were done, and that all should
rush forth upon their enemies to destroy them.
For he will be found of them that
tempt him not; and sheweth himself unto
such as do not distrust him.
Such things they did imagine, and were
deceived: for their own wickedness hath blinded them.
They that put their trust in him shall understand the truth: and
such as be faithful in love shall
abide with him: for grace and mercy is to his saints, and he hath care for his
elect.
Then shall the righteous man stand in great boldness before the face of
such as have
afflicted him, and made no account of his labours.
For they that keep
holiness holily shall be judged holy: and they that have learned
such things shall find what to answer.
Wisdom is glorious, and never fadeth away:
yea, she is easily seen of them that love her, and found of
such as seek her.
For she goeth about seeking such as are worthy of her, sheweth herself favourably unto them in the ways, and meeteth them in every thought.
And all such things as are either secret or manifest, them I know.
And if a man love righteousness her labours are virtues: for she teacheth
temperance and
prudence, justice and
fortitude: which are
such things, as men can have nothing more profitable in their life.
