So they
gat up from the tabernacle of
Korah, Dathan, and
Abiram, on every side: and Dathan and
Abiram came out, and stood in the door of their
tents, and their wives, and their sons, and their little children.
So they moved away from the dwellings of
Korah, Dathan, and
Abiram. Meanwhile, Dathan and
Abiram had come out and stood at the entrances to their
tents with their wives and children and infants.
And it came to pass, when the congregation was gathered against Moses and against Aaron, that they looked toward the tabernacle of the congregation: and, behold, the cloud covered it, and the glory of the LORD appeared.
But when the congregation gathered against them, Moses and Aaron turned toward the Tent of Meeting, and suddenly the cloud covered it and the glory of the LORD appeared.
And Moses and Aaron came before the tabernacle of the congregation.
Then Moses and Aaron went to the front of the Tent of Meeting,
And Aaron returned unto Moses unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and the plague was stayed.
Then Aaron returned to Moses at the entrance to the
Tent of Meeting, since the plague had been
halted.
And thou shalt lay them up in the tabernacle of the congregation before the testimony, where I will meet with you.
Place the staffs in the Tent of Meeting in front of the Testimony, where I meet with you.
And Moses laid up the rods before the LORD in the tabernacle of witness.
Then Moses placed the staffs before the LORD in the Tent of the Testimony.
And it came to pass, that on the
morrow Moses went into the tabernacle of witness; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was
budded, and brought forth buds, and
bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds.
The next day Moses entered the
Tent of the Testimony and saw that Aaron’s staff, representing the house of Levi, had
sprouted, put forth buds,
blossomed, and produced almonds.
And thy brethren also of the tribe of Levi, the tribe of thy father, bring thou with thee, that they may be joined unto thee, and minister unto thee: but thou and thy sons with thee shall minister before the tabernacle of witness.
But bring with you also your brothers from the tribe of Levi, the tribe of your father, that they may join you and assist you and your sons before the Tent of the Testimony.
And they shall keep thy charge, and the charge of all the tabernacle: only they shall not come
nigh the vessels of the sanctuary and the altar, that neither they, nor ye also, die.
And they shall attend to your duties and to all the duties of the Tent; but they must not come near to the furnishings of the sanctuary or the altar, or both they and you will die.
And they shall be joined unto thee, and keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, for all the service of the tabernacle: and a stranger shall not come
nigh unto you.
They are to join you and attend to the duties of the Tent of Meeting, doing all the work at the Tent; but no outsider may come near you.
And I, behold, I have taken your brethren the Levites from among the children of Israel: to you they are given as a gift for the LORD, to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation.
Behold, I Myself have selected your fellow Levites from the Israelites as a gift to you, dedicated to the LORD to perform the service for the Tent of Meeting.
And, behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tenth in Israel for an inheritance, for their service which they serve, even the service of the tabernacle of the congregation.
Behold, I have given to the Levites all the
tithes in Israel as an inheritance in return for the work they do, the service of the
Tent of Meeting.
Neither must the children of Israel henceforth come
nigh the tabernacle of the congregation, lest they bear sin, and die.
No longer may the Israelites come near to the
Tent of Meeting, or they will
incur guilt and die.
But the Levites shall do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation, and they shall bear their iniquity: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations, that among the children of Israel they have no inheritance.
The Levites are to perform the work of the Tent of Meeting, and they must bear their iniquity. This is a permanent statute for the generations to come. The Levites will not receive an inheritance among the Israelites.
Thus speak unto the Levites, and say unto them, When ye take of the children of Israel the
tithes which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then ye shall offer up an
heave offering of it for the LORD, even a
tenth part of the
tithe.
“Speak to the Levites and tell them: ‘When you receive from the Israelites the
tithe that I have given you as your inheritance, you must present part of it as an offering to the LORD—a
tithe of the
tithe.
And ye shall eat it in every place, ye and your households: for it is your reward for your service in the tabernacle of the congregation.
And you and your households may eat the rest of it
anywhere; it is the compensation for your work at the
Tent of Meeting.
And
Eleazar the priest shall take of her blood with his finger, and
sprinkle of her blood directly before the tabernacle of the congregation seven times:
Eleazar the priest is to take some of its blood on his finger and
sprinkle it seven times toward the front of the
Tent of Meeting.
This is the law, when a man dieth in a tent: all that come into the tent, and all that is in the tent, shall be unclean seven days.
This is the law when a person dies in a
tent:
Everyone who enters the
tent and
everyone already in the
tent will be unclean for seven days,
And a clean person shall take
hyssop, and dip it in the water, and
sprinkle it upon the
tent, and upon all the vessels, and upon the persons that were there, and upon him that touched a bone, or one slain, or one dead, or a grave:
Then a man who is
ceremonially clean is to take some
hyssop, dip it in the water, and
sprinkle the
tent, all the furnishings, and the people who were there. He is also to
sprinkle the one who touched a bone, a grave, or a person who has died or been slain.
And Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and they fell upon their faces: and the glory of the LORD appeared unto them.
Then Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting. They fell facedown, and the glory of the LORD appeared to them.
And
Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel
abiding in his
tents according to their tribes; and the spirit of God came upon him.
When
Balaam looked up and saw Israel
encamped tribe by tribe, the Spirit of God came upon him,
How goodly are thy tents, O Jacob, and thy tabernacles, O Israel!
How lovely are your tents, O Jacob, your dwellings, O Israel!
And, behold, one of the children of Israel came and brought unto his brethren a Midianitish woman in the sight of Moses, and in the sight of all the congregation of the children of Israel, who were
weeping before the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
Just then an
Israelite man brought to his family a Midianite woman in the sight of Moses and the whole congregation of Israel while they were
weeping at the entrance to the
Tent of Meeting.
And he went after the man of Israel into the
tent, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her
belly. So the plague was stayed from the children of Israel.
followed the
Israelite into his
tent, and drove the
spear through both of them—through the
Israelite and on through the
belly of the woman. So the plague against the Israelites was
halted,
And they stood before Moses, and before
Eleazar the priest, and before the princes and all the congregation, by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying,
the entrance to the
Tent of Meeting, stood before Moses,
Eleazar the priest, the leaders, and the whole congregation, and said,
And a
tenth part of an

hin of beaten oil.
along with a

And on the sabbath day two lambs of the first year without spot, and two tenth deals of flour for a meat offering, mingled with oil, and the drink offering thereof:

And a several tenth deal of flour mingled with oil for a meat offering unto one lamb; for a burnt offering of a sweet savour, a sacrifice made by fire unto the LORD.
and a
tenth of an
ephah of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering with each lamb. This is a burnt offering, a pleasing
aroma, an offering made by fire to the LORD.
And their meat offering shall be of flour mingled with oil: three
tenth deals shall ye offer for a
bullock, and two
tenth deals for a ram;
The grain offering shall consist of fine flour mixed with oil; offer three-

and a

ephah with each of the seven lambs.
And their meat offering shall be of flour mingled with oil, three

ephah with the bull, two-
tenths of an
ephah with the ram,
And one tenth deal for one lamb, throughout the seven lambs:
and a
tenth of an
ephah with each of the seven male lambs.
And ye shall have on the
tenth day of this seventh month an holy
convocation; and ye shall
afflict your souls: ye shall not do any work therein:
On the
tenth day of this seventh month, you are to hold a sacred assembly, and you shall humble
yourselves; you must not do any work.
And their meat offering shall be of flour mingled with oil, three
tenth deals to a
bullock, and two
tenth deals to one ram,
together with their grain offerings of fine flour mixed with oil—three-
tenths of an
ephah with the bull, two-
tenths of an
ephah with the ram,
A several tenth deal for one lamb, throughout the seven lambs:
and a
tenth of an
ephah with each of the seven lambs.
And their meat offering shall be of flour mingled with oil, three
tenth deals unto every
bullock of the thirteen bullocks, two
tenth deals to each ram of the two rams,
along with the grain offering of three-
tenths of an

tenths of an
ephah with each of the two rams,
And a several tenth deal to each lamb of the fourteen lambs:
and a
tenth of an
ephah with each of the fourteen lambs.
And Moses and
Eleazar the priest took the gold of the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and brought it into the tabernacle of the congregation, for a
memorial for the children of Israel before the LORD.
And Moses and
Eleazar the priest received the gold from the commanders of thousands and of hundreds and brought it into the
Tent of Meeting as a
memorial for the Israelites before the LORD.
And ye
murmured in your
tents, and said, Because the LORD
hated us, he hath brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the
Amorites, to destroy us.
You grumbled in your
tents and said, “Because the LORD hates us, He has brought us out of the land of Egypt to deliver us into the hand of the
Amorites to be
annihilated.
Who went in the way before you, to search you out a place to pitch your
tents in, in fire by night, to
shew you by what way ye should go, and in a cloud by day.
who went before you on the journey, in the fire by night and in the cloud by day, to seek out a place for you to camp and to show you the road to travel.
Go say to them, Get you into your tents again.
Go and tell them: ‘Return to your tents.’
And what he did unto Dathan and
Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of
Reuben: how the earth opened her mouth, and
swallowed them up, and their households, and their
tents, and all the substance that was in their possession, in the midst of all Israel:
and what He did in the midst of all the Israelites to Dathan and
Abiram, the sons of Eliab the Reubenite, when the earth opened its mouth and
swallowed them, their households, their
tents, and every living thing that belonged to them.
Thou shalt truly
tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year.
You must be sure to set aside a tenth of all the produce brought forth each year from your fields.
And thou shalt eat before the LORD thy God, in the place which he shall choose to place his name there, the
tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear the LORD thy God always.
And you are to eat a
tenth of your grain, new wine, and oil, and the
firstborn of your herds and flocks, in the presence of the LORD your God at the place He will choose as a dwelling for His Name, so that you may learn to fear the LORD your God always.
At the end of three years thou shalt bring forth all the
tithe of thine increase the same year, and shalt lay it up within thy gates:
At the end of every three years, bring a tenth of all your produce for that year and lay it up within your gates.
And thou shalt
roast and eat it in the place which the LORD thy God shall choose: and thou shalt turn in the morning, and go unto thy
tents.
And you shall
roast it and eat it in the place the LORD your God will choose, and in the morning you shall return to your
tents.
A
bastard shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to his
tenth generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the LORD.
No one of
illegitimate birth may enter the assembly of the LORD, nor may any of his descendants, even to the
tenth generation.
An
Ammonite or
Moabite shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to their
tenth generation shall they not enter into the congregation of the LORD for ever:
No
Ammonite or
Moabite or any of their descendants may enter the assembly of the LORD, even to the
tenth generation.
When thou hast made an end of
tithing all the
tithes of thine increase the third year, which is the year of
tithing, and hast given it unto the
Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, that they may eat within thy gates, and be filled;
When you have finished laying aside a
tenth of all your produce in the third year, the year of the
tithe, you are to give it to the
Levite, the foreigner, the fatherless, and the widow, that they may eat and be filled within your gates.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, thy days approach that thou must die: call Joshua, and present
yourselves in the tabernacle of the congregation, that I may give him a charge. And Moses and Joshua went, and presented themselves in the tabernacle of the congregation.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Behold, the time of your death is near. Call Joshua and present
yourselves at the
Tent of Meeting, so that I may commission him.” So Moses and Joshua went and presented themselves at the
Tent of Meeting.
And the LORD appeared in the tabernacle in a
pillar of a cloud: and the
pillar of the cloud stood over the door of the tabernacle.
Then the LORD appeared at the
tent in a
pillar of cloud, and the cloud stood over the entrance to the
tent.
And it came to pass, when the people removed from their tents, to pass over Jordan, and the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people;
So when the people broke camp to cross the Jordan, the priests carried the ark of the covenant
ahead of them.
And the people came up out of Jordan on the
tenth day of the first month, and
encamped in
Gilgal, in the east border of
Jericho.
On the
tenth day of the first month the people went up from the Jordan and camped at
Gilgal on the eastern border of
Jericho.
When I saw among the spoils a goodly
Babylonish garment, and two hundred shekels of silver, and a
wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight, then I
coveted them, and took them; and, behold, they are
hid in the earth in the midst of my
tent, and the silver under it.
When I saw among the spoils a beautiful
cloak from
Shinar, two hundred shekels of silver, and a bar of gold weighing fifty shekels, I
coveted them and took them. They are hidden in the ground inside my
tent, with the silver
underneath.”
So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran unto the
tent; and, behold, it was
hid in his
tent, and the silver under it.
So Joshua sent messengers who ran to the
tent, and there it all was, hidden in his
tent, with the silver
underneath.
And they took them out of the midst of the tent, and brought them unto Joshua, and unto all the children of Israel, and laid them out before the LORD.
They took the things from inside the tent, brought them to Joshua and all the Israelites, and spread them out before the LORD.
And Joshua, and all Israel with him, took
Achan the son of Zerah, and the silver, and the garment, and the
wedge of gold, and his sons, and his daughters, and his oxen, and his
asses, and his sheep, and his
tent, and all that he had: and they brought them unto the valley of
Achor.
Then Joshua, together with all Israel, took
Achan son of Zerah, the silver, the
cloak, the bar of gold, his sons and daughters, his oxen and
donkeys and sheep, his
tent, and everything else he owned, and brought them to the Valley of
Achor.
And the whole congregation of the children of Israel assembled together at
Shiloh, and set up the tabernacle of the congregation there. And the land was subdued before them.
Then the whole congregation of Israel assembled at
Shiloh and set up the
Tent of Meeting there. And though the land was subdued before them,
These are the inheritances which
Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of
Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel, divided for an inheritance by lot in
Shiloh before the LORD, at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. So they made an end of dividing the country.
These are the inheritances that
Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of
Nun, and the heads of the families distributed by lot to the tribes of Israel at
Shiloh before the LORD at the entrance to the
Tent of Meeting. So they finished dividing up the land.
And now the LORD your God hath given rest unto your brethren, as he promised them: therefore now return ye, and get you unto your tents, and unto the land of your possession, which Moses the servant of the LORD gave you on the other side Jordan.
And now that the LORD your God has given your brothers rest as He promised them, you may return to your homes in the land that Moses the servant of the LORD gave you across the Jordan.
So Joshua blessed them, and sent them away: and they went unto their tents.
So Joshua blessed them and sent them on their way, and they went to their homes.
Now to the one half of the tribe of
Manasseh Moses had given possession in
Bashan: but unto the other half thereof gave Joshua among their brethren on this side Jordan westward. And when Joshua sent them away also unto their
tents, then he blessed them,
(To the half-tribe of
Manasseh Moses had given land in
Bashan, and to the other half Joshua gave land on the west side of the Jordan among their brothers.) When Joshua sent them to their homes he blessed them,
And he spake unto them, saying, Return with much riches unto your
tents, and with very much cattle, with silver, and with gold, and with brass, and with iron, and with very much
raiment: divide the
spoil of your enemies with your brethren.
saying, “Return to your homes with your great wealth, with immense herds of
livestock, with silver, gold, bronze, iron, and very many clothes. Divide with your brothers the
spoil of your enemies.”
Now
Heber the Kenite, which was of the children of Hobab the father in law of Moses, had severed himself from the
Kenites, and pitched his
tent unto the plain of Zaanaim, which is by Kedesh.
Now
Heber the Kenite had moved away from the
Kenites, the descendants of Hobab the father-in-law of Moses, and had pitched his
tent by the great tree of Zaanannim, which was near Kedesh.
Howbeit Sisera fled away on his feet to the
tent of Jael the wife of
Heber the Kenite: for there was peace between Jabin the king of Hazor and the house of
Heber the Kenite.
Meanwhile, Sisera had fled on foot to the
tent of Jael, the wife of
Heber the Kenite, because there was peace between Jabin king of Hazor and the house of
Heber the Kenite.
And Jael went out to meet Sisera, and said unto him, Turn in, my lord, turn in to me; fear not. And when he had turned in unto her into the
tent, she covered him with a
mantle.
Jael went out to
greet Sisera and said to him, “Come in, my lord. Come in with me. Do not be afraid.” So he entered her
tent, and she covered him with a
blanket.
Again he said unto her, Stand in the door of the
tent, and it shall be, when any man
doth come and
enquire of thee, and say, Is there any man here? that thou shalt say, No.
“Stand at the entrance to the
tent,” he said, “and if
anyone comes and asks you, ‘Is there a man here?’ say, ‘No.’”
Then Jael
Heber’s wife took a
nail of the
tent, and took an hammer in her hand, and went softly unto him, and
smote the
nail into his temples, and fastened it into the ground: for he was fast
asleep and
weary. So he died.
But as he lay sleeping from
exhaustion,
Heber’s wife Jael took a
tent peg,
grabbed a hammer, and went silently to Sisera. She drove the
peg through his temple and into the ground, and he died.
And, behold, as
Barak pursued Sisera, Jael came out to meet him, and said unto him, Come, and I will
shew thee the man whom thou seekest. And when he came into her
tent, behold, Sisera lay dead, and the
nail was in his temples.
When
Barak arrived in pursuit of Sisera, Jael went out to
greet him and said to him, “Come, and I will show you the man you are seeking.” So he went in with her, and there lay Sisera dead, with a
tent peg through his temple.
Blessed above women shall Jael the wife of
Heber the Kenite be, blessed shall she be above women in the
tent.
Most blessed among women is Jael, the wife of
Heber the Kenite, most blessed of
tent-dwelling women.
She put her hand to the
nail, and her right hand to the workmen’s hammer; and with the hammer she
smote Sisera, she
smote off his head, when she had pierced and
stricken through his temples.
She reached for the
tent peg, her right hand for the
workman’s hammer. She struck Sisera and
crushed his skull; she
shattered and pierced his temple.
For they came up with their cattle and their tents, and they came as grasshoppers for multitude; for both they and their camels were without number: and they entered into the land to destroy it.
For the Midianites came with their
livestock and their
tents like a great
swarm of locusts. They and their camels were innumerable, and they entered the land to
ravage it.
So the people took
victuals in their hand, and their
trumpets: and he sent all the rest of Israel every man unto his
tent, and retained those three hundred men: and the host of
Midian was beneath him in the valley.
So
Gideon sent the rest of the Israelites to their
tents but kept the three hundred men, who took charge of the provisions and rams’ horns of the others. And the camp of
Midian lay below him in the valley.
And when
Gideon was come, behold, there was a man that told a dream unto his fellow, and said, Behold, I dreamed a dream, and, lo, a
cake of barley bread
tumbled into the host of
Midian, and came unto a
tent, and
smote it that it fell, and overturned it, that the
tent lay along.
And as
Gideon arrived, a man was telling his friend about a dream. “Behold, I had a dream,” he said, “and I saw a
loaf of barley bread come
tumbling into the Midianite camp. It struck the
tent so hard that the
tent overturned and
collapsed.”
And
Gideon went up by the way of them that dwelt in
tents on the east of Nobah and Jogbehah, and
smote the host: for the host was secure.
And
Gideon went up by way of the
caravan route east of Nobah and Jogbehah, and he attacked their army, taking them by surprise.
And all the people arose as one man, saying, We will not any of us go to his tent, neither will we any of us turn into his house.
Then all the people stood as one man and said, “Not one of us will return to his tent or to his house.
Now
Eli was very old, and heard all that his sons did unto all Israel; and how they lay with the women that assembled at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
Now
Eli was very old, and he heard about everything his sons were doing to all Israel and how they were sleeping with the women who served at the entrance to the
Tent of Meeting.
And the Philistines fought, and Israel was
smitten, and they fled every man into his
tent: and there was a very great slaughter; for there fell of Israel thirty thousand
footmen.
So the Philistines fought, and Israel was defeated, and each man fled to his tent. The slaughter was very great—thirty thousand foot soldiers of Israel fell.
And he will take the tenth of your seed, and of your vineyards, and give to his officers, and to his servants.
He will take a
tenth of your grain and
grape harvest and give it to his officials and servants.
He will take the tenth of your sheep: and ye shall be his servants.
He will take a
tenth of your flocks, and you
yourselves will become his slaves.
Saul chose him three thousand men of Israel;
whereof two thousand were with Saul in
Michmash and in mount
Bethel, and a thousand were with
Jonathan in Gibeah of Benjamin: and the rest of the people he sent every man to his
tent.
He chose for himself three thousand men of Israel: Two thousand were with Saul at
Michmash and in the hill country of
Bethel, and a thousand were with
Jonathan in Gibeah of Benjamin. And the rest of the troops he sent away, each to his own home.
And the children of Israel returned from
chasing after the Philistines, and they
spoiled their
tents.
When the Israelites returned from their pursuit of the Philistines, they
plundered their camps.
And David took the head of the
Philistine, and brought it to Jerusalem; but he put his armour in his
tent.
David took the head of the
Philistine and brought it to Jerusalem, and he put
Goliath’s weapons in his own
tent.
And they brought in the ark of the LORD, and set it in his place, in the midst of the tabernacle that David had pitched for it: and David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD.
So they brought the ark of the LORD and set it in its place inside the tent that David had pitched for it. Then David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD.
That the king said unto
Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in an house of
cedar, but the ark of God dwelleth within curtains.
he said to
Nathan the prophet, “Here I am, living in a house of
cedar, while the ark of God remains in a
tent.”
Whereas I have not dwelt in any house since the time that I brought up the children of Israel out of Egypt, even to this day, but have walked in a tent and in a tabernacle.
For I have not dwelt in a house from the day I brought the Israelites up out of Egypt until this day, but I have moved about with a tent as My dwelling.
And Uriah said unto David, The ark, and Israel, and Judah,
abide in
tents; and my lord
Joab, and the servants of my lord, are
encamped in the open fields; shall I then go into mine house, to eat and to drink, and to lie with my wife? as thou livest, and as thy soul liveth, I will not do this thing.
Uriah answered, “The ark and Israel and Judah are dwelling in
tents, and my master
Joab and his soldiers are camped in the open field. How can I go to my house to eat and drink and sleep with my wife? As surely as you live, and as your soul lives, I will not do such a thing!”
So they spread
Absalom a
tent upon the top of the house; and
Absalom went in unto his father’s concubines in the sight of all Israel.
So they pitched a
tent for
Absalom on the roof, and he
slept with his father’s concubines in the sight of all Israel.
And they took
Absalom, and cast him into a great pit in the wood, and laid a very great
heap of stones upon him: and all Israel fled every one to his
tent.
They took
Absalom, cast him into a large pit in the forest, and piled a huge
mound of stones over him. Meanwhile, all the Israelites fled, each to his home.
Then the king arose, and sat in the gate. And they told unto all the people, saying, Behold, the king
doth sit in the gate. And all the people came before the king: for Israel had fled every man to his
tent.
So the king got up and sat in the gate, and all the people were told: “Behold, the king is sitting in the gate.” So they all came before the king. Meanwhile, the Israelites had fled, each man to his home.
And there happened to be there a man of
Belial, whose name was
Sheba, the son of Bichri, a
Benjamite: and he
blew a
trumpet, and said, We have no part in David, neither have we inheritance in the son of
Jesse: every man to his
tents, O Israel.
Now a worthless man named
Sheba son of Bichri, a
Benjamite, happened to be there, and he
blew the ram’s horn and
shouted: “We have no share in David, no inheritance in
Jesse’s son. Every man to his
tent, O Israel!”
Then the woman went unto all the people in her wisdom. And they cut off the head of
Sheba the son of Bichri, and cast it out to
Joab. And he
blew a
trumpet, and they retired from the city, every man to his
tent. And
Joab returned to Jerusalem unto the king.
Then the woman went to all the people with her wise counsel, and they cut off the head of
Sheba son of Bichri and threw it to
Joab. So he
blew the ram’s horn and his men
dispersed from the city, each to his own home. And
Joab returned to the king in Jerusalem.
Then
tidings came to
Joab: for
Joab had turned after Adonijah, though he turned not after
Absalom. And
Joab fled unto the tabernacle of the LORD, and caught hold on the horns of the altar.
When the news reached
Joab, who had
conspired with Adonijah but not with
Absalom, he fled to the
tent of the LORD and took hold of the horns of the altar.
And it was told king Solomon that
Joab was fled unto the tabernacle of the LORD; and, behold, he is by the altar. Then Solomon sent Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, saying, Go, fall upon him.
It was reported to King Solomon: “
Joab has fled to the
tent of the LORD and is now beside the altar.” So Solomon sent Benaiah son of Jehoiada, saying, “Go, strike him down!”
And Benaiah came to the tabernacle of the LORD, and said unto him, Thus saith the king, Come forth. And he said,
Nay; but I will die here. And Benaiah brought the king word again, saying, Thus said
Joab, and thus he answered me.
And Benaiah entered the
tent of the LORD and said to
Joab, “The king says, ‘Come out!’” But
Joab replied, “No, I will die here.” So Benaiah relayed the message to the king, saying, “This is how
Joab answered me.”
