Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.
How precious is Your loving devotion, O God, that the children of men take refuge in the shadow of Your wings!
They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.
They feast on the abundance of Your house, and You give them drink from Your river of delights.
For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.
For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light.
O continue thy lovingkindness unto them that know thee; and thy righteousness to the upright in heart.
Extend Your loving devotion to those who know You, and Your righteousness to the upright in heart.
Let not the foot of pride come against me, and let not the hand of the wicked remove me.
Let not the foot of the proud come against me, nor the hand of the wicked drive me away.
There are the workers of iniquity fallen: they are cast down, and shall not be able to rise.
There the evildoers lie fallen, thrown down and unable to rise.
Fret not
thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou
envious against
the workers of iniquity.
Do not
fret over those who do evil; do not
envy those who do wrong.
For
they shall soon be cut down like
the grass, and wither as
the green
herb.
For
they wither quickly like grass and
wilt like tender plants.
Trust in
the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in
the land, and
verily thou shalt be fed.
Trust in
the LORD and do good; dwell in
the land and
cultivate faithfulness.
Delight
thyself also in
the LORD; and he shall give
thee the desires of thine heart.
Delight
yourself in
the LORD, and He will give you
the desires of your heart.
Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
Commit your way to the LORD; trust in Him, and He will do it.
And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as
the light, and thy judgment as
the noonday.
He will bring forth your righteousness like
the dawn, your justice like
the noonday sun.
Rest in
the LORD, and wait patiently for him:
fret not
thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of
the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
Be still before
the LORD and wait patiently for Him; do not
fret when men
prosper in
their ways, when
they carry out wicked schemes.
For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon
the LORD,
they shall
inherit the earth.
For
the evildoers will be cut off, but those who hope in
the LORD will
inherit the land.
For yet a little while, and
the wicked shall not be:
yea, thou shalt
diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.
Yet a little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found.
But
the meek shall
inherit the earth; and shall delight
themselves in
the abundance of peace.
But
the meek will
inherit the land and delight in abundant prosperity.
The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth.
The wicked scheme against
the righteous and
gnash their teeth at
them,
The Lord shall
laugh at him: for he
seeth that his day is coming.
but the Lord laughs, seeing that their day is coming.
The wicked have drawn out
the sword, and have bent
their bow, to cast down
the poor and
needy, and to
slay such as be of upright conversation.
The wicked have drawn
the sword and bent
the bow to bring down
the poor and
needy, to
slay those whose ways are upright.
Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.
But
their swords will
pierce their own hearts, and
their bows will be broken.
A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked.
Better is the little of the righteous than the abundance of many who are wicked.
For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the LORD upholdeth the righteous.
For the arms of the wicked will be broken, but the LORD upholds the righteous.
The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever.
The LORD knows
the days of
the blameless, and
their inheritance will last
forever.
They shall not be
ashamed in
the evil time: and in
the days of famine
they shall be satisfied.
In
the time of evil
they will not be
ashamed, and in
the days of famine
they will be satisfied.
But
the wicked shall perish, and
the enemies of
the LORD shall be as
the fat of lambs:
they shall
consume; into smoke shall
they consume away.
But
the wicked and enemies of
the LORD will perish like
the glory of
the fields.
They will
vanish; like smoke
they will
fade away.
The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous sheweth mercy, and giveth.
The wicked
borrow and do not repay, but
the righteous are
gracious and giving.
For such as be blessed of him shall
inherit the earth; and
they that be
cursed of him shall be cut off.
Surely those He blesses will
inherit the land, but
the cursed will be destroyed.
The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.
The steps of a man are ordered by the LORD who takes delight in his journey.
Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.
Though he falls, he will not be
overwhelmed, for
the LORD is holding his hand.
I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen
the righteous
forsaken, nor his seed
begging bread.
I once was young and now am old, yet never have I seen
the righteous abandoned or
their children
begging for bread.
He is ever
merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed.
They are ever generous and quick to
lend, and
their children are a blessing.
For the LORD loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.
For
the LORD loves justice and will not
forsake His saints.
They are preserved
forever, but
the offspring of
the wicked will be cut off.
The righteous shall
inherit the land, and dwell
therein for ever.
The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment.
The mouth of the righteous man utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks justice.
The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.
The law of his God is in his heart; his steps do not
falter.
The wicked watcheth
the righteous, and seeketh to
slay him.
Though
the wicked lie in wait for
the righteous, and seek to
slay them,
The LORD will not leave him in his hand, nor
condemn him when he is judged.
the LORD will not leave them in their power or let them be condemned under judgment.
Wait on
the LORD, and keep his way, and he shall
exalt thee to
inherit the land: when
the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.
Wait for
the LORD and keep His way, and He will raise you up to
inherit the land. When
the wicked are cut off, you will see it.
I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree.
I have seen a wicked,
ruthless man flourishing like a well-rooted native tree,
Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.
But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off.
But the transgressors will all be destroyed; the future of the wicked will be cut off.
But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD: he is their strength in the time of trouble.
The salvation of
the righteous is from
the LORD; He is
their stronghold in time of trouble.
And the LORD shall help them and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.
The LORD helps and delivers them; He rescues and saves them from the wicked, because they take refuge in Him.
There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin.
There is no soundness in my body because of Your anger; there is no rest in my bones because of my sin.
For mine
iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden
they are too heavy for me.
I am troubled; I am bowed down greatly; I go
mourning all
the day long.
I am bent and brought low; all day long I go about
mourning.
For my loins are filled with a
loathsome disease: and
there is no soundness in my flesh.
For my loins are full of burning pain, and no soundness remains in my body.
I am feeble and
sore broken: I have
roared by reason of
the disquietness of my heart.
Lord, all my desire is before
thee; and my
groaning is not
hid from
thee.
O Lord, my every desire is before You; my
groaning is not hidden from You.
My heart panteth, my strength faileth me: as for the light of mine eyes, it also is gone from me.
My heart pounds, my strength fails, and even
the light of my eyes has
faded.
They also that seek after my life lay snares for me: and
they that seek my
hurt speak
mischievous things, and imagine deceits all
the day long.
Those who seek my life lay snares; those who wish me
harm speak destruction,
plotting deceit all day long.
For in
thee, O LORD, do I hope: thou
wilt hear, O Lord my God.
I wait for You, O LORD; You will answer, O Lord my God.
For I said, Hear me, lest otherwise
they should
rejoice over me: when my foot slippeth,
they magnify themselves against me.
For I said, “Let
them not
gloat over me— those who
taunt me when my foot slips.”
But mine enemies are lively, and
they are strong: and
they that
hate me
wrongfully are multiplied.
Many are my enemies without cause, and many
hate me without reason.
They also that render evil for good are mine
adversaries; because I follow
the thing that good is.
Those who repay my good with evil attack me for pursuing the good.
I said, I will take
heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a
bridle, while
the wicked is before me.
I said, “I will watch my ways so that I will not sin with my tongue; I will guard my mouth with a
muzzle as long as
the wicked are present.”
My heart was hot within me, while I was
musing the fire burned:
then spake I with my tongue,
My heart grew hot within me; as I
mused,
the fire burned.
Then I spoke with my tongue:
LORD, make me to know mine end, and
the measure of my days, what it is; that I may know how
frail I am.
“Show me, O LORD, my end and the measure of my days. Let me know how fleeting my life is.
Behold, thou hast made my days as an
handbreadth; and mine age is as nothing before
thee:
verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity.
Selah.
You, indeed, have made my days as handbreadths, and my lifetime as nothing before You. Truly each man at his best exists as but a breath.
Selah Surely every man walketh in a vain
shew: surely
they are disquieted in vain: he heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather
them.
Surely every man goes about like a
phantom; surely he bustles in vain; he heaps up riches not knowing who will
haul them away.
And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee.
And now, O Lord, for what do I wait? My hope is in You.
Deliver me from all my transgressions: make me not
the reproach of
the foolish.
Deliver me from all my transgressions; do not make me the reproach of fools.
Remove thy stroke away from me: I am consumed by the blow of thine hand.
Remove Your
scourge from me; I am perishing by
the force of Your hand.
Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear unto my cry; hold not thy peace at my tears: for I am a stranger with
thee, and a
sojourner, as all my fathers were.
Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear to my cry for help; do not be
deaf to my
weeping. For I am a foreigner dwelling with You, a stranger like all my fathers.
I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
I waited patiently for the LORD; He inclined to me and heard my cry.
He brought me up also out of an
horrible pit, out of
the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
He lifted me up from
the pit of
despair, out of
the miry clay; He set my feet upon a rock, and made my footsteps firm.
And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.
He put a new song in my mouth, a
hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put
their trust in
the LORD.
Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.
Blessed is
the man who has made
the LORD his trust, who has not turned to
the proud, nor to those who
lapse into
falsehood.
Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.
Many, O LORD my God, are
the wonders You have done, and
the plans You have for us— none can compare to You— if I
proclaim and declare
them,
they are more than I can count.
Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,
Then I said, “Here I am, I have come— it is written about me in
the scroll:
I have preached righteousness in
the great congregation: lo, I have not
refrained my lips, O LORD, thou knowest.
I
proclaim righteousness in
the great assembly; behold, I do not seal my lips, as You, O LORD, do know.
I have not
hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from
the great congregation.
I have not covered up Your righteousness in my heart; I have declared Your faithfulness and salvation; I have not concealed Your loving devotion and faithfulness from the great assembly.
For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine
iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up;
they are more than
the hairs of mine head:
therefore my heart faileth me.
For evils without number
surround me; my sins have overtaken me, so that I cannot see.
They are more than
the hairs of my head, and my heart has failed within me.
Let
them be
ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let
them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil.
Let
them be
desolate for a reward of
their shame that say unto me,
Aha,
aha.
Let all those that seek
thee rejoice and be
glad in
thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually,
The LORD be
magnified.
May all who seek You
rejoice and be
glad in You; may those who love Your salvation always say, “
The LORD be
magnified!”
But I am poor and
needy; yet
the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no
tarrying, O my God.
But I am poor and
needy; may
the Lord think of me. You are my helper and deliverer; O my God, do not delay.
Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.
Blessed is the one who cares for the poor; the LORD will deliver him in the day of trouble.
The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon
the earth: and thou
wilt not deliver him unto
the will of his enemies.
The LORD will protect and preserve him; He will
bless him in
the land and refuse to surrender him to
the will of his foes.
The LORD will
sustain him on his bed of illness and restore him from his bed of sickness.
All who
hate me
whisper against me;
they imagine
the worst for me:
An evil disease, say they, cleaveth fast unto him: and now that he lieth he shall rise up no more.
“A
vile disease has been poured into him; he will never get up from where he lies!”
Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his
heel against me.
Even my close friend whom I trusted,
the one who shared my bread, has lifted up his
heel against me.
But thou, O LORD, be
merciful unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite
them.
But You, O LORD, be
gracious to me and raise me up, that I may repay
them.
As
the hart panteth after
the water
brooks, so panteth my soul after
thee, O God.
As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul longs after You, O God.
My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?
My soul thirsts for God, the living God. When shall I come and appear in God’s presence?
My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?
My tears have been my food both day and night, while men ask me all day long, “Where is your God?”
When I remember
these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with
the multitude, I went with
them to
the house of God, with
the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept
holyday.
These things come to mind as I pour out my soul: how I walked with
the multitude, leading
the procession to
the house of God with shouts of joy and praise.
Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.
Why are you
downcast, O my soul? Why
the unease within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him for
the salvation of His presence.
O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar.
O my God, my soul despairs within me.
Therefore I remember You from
the land of Jordan and
the peaks of
Hermon— even from Mount Mizar.
Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.
Deep calls to deep in
the roar of Your waterfalls; all Your breakers and waves have rolled over me.
Yet
the LORD will command his lovingkindness in
the daytime, and in
the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto
the God of my life.
The LORD decrees His loving devotion by day, and at night His song is with me as a prayer to the God of my life.
I will say unto God my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I
mourning because of
the oppression of
the enemy?
I say to God my Rock, “Why have You forgotten me? Why must I walk in sorrow because of the enemy’s oppression?”
As with a sword in my bones, mine enemies reproach me; while they say daily unto me, Where is thy God?
Like
the crushing of my bones, my enemies
taunt me, while
they say to me all day long, “Where is your God?”
Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.
Why are you
downcast, O my soul? Why
the unease within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, my
Savior and my God.
Judge me, O God, and
plead my cause against an ungodly nation: O deliver me from
the deceitful and unjust man.
For thou art
the God of my strength: why
dost thou cast me off? why go I
mourning because of
the oppression of
the enemy?
For You are the God of my refuge. Why have You rejected me? Why must I walk in sorrow because of the enemy’s oppression?
O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles.
Send out Your light and Your truth; let them lead me. Let them bring me to Your holy mountain, and to the place where You dwell.
