The king’s favour is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causeth shame.
A king delights in a wise servant, but his anger falls on the shameful.
Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle
toward heaven.
When you
glance at wealth, it disappears, for it makes wings for itself and
flies like an eagle to the sky.
If thou
forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain;
Rescue those being led away to death, and restrain those
stumbling toward the slaughter.
The wind goeth toward the south, and turneth about unto the north; it whirleth about continually, and the wind returneth again according to his circuits.
The wind blows southward, then turns northward; round and round it swirls, ever returning on its course.
If the clouds be full of rain, they empty themselves upon the earth: and if the tree fall toward the south, or toward the north, in the place where the tree falleth, there it shall be.
If the clouds are full, they will pour out rain upon the earth; whether a tree falls to the south or to the north, in the place where it falls, there it will lie.
Thy neck is as a tower of ivory; thine eyes like the fishpools in
Heshbon, by the gate of Bath-rabbim: thy nose is as the tower of
Lebanon which looketh
toward Damascus.
Your neck is like a tower made of ivory; your eyes are like the pools of
Heshbon by the gate of Bath-rabbim; your nose is like the tower of
Lebanon, facing
toward Damascus.
I am my beloved’s, and his desire is toward me.
I belong to my beloved, and his desire is for me.
And it came to pass in the days of
Ahaz the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, that Rezin the king of Syria, and Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, went up
toward Jerusalem to war against it, but could not prevail against it.
Now in the days that
Ahaz son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, was king of Judah, Rezin king of
Aram marched up to
wage war against Jerusalem. He was accompanied by Pekah son of Remaliah the king of Israel, but he could not overpower the city.
But they shall fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines
toward the west; they shall
spoil them of the east together: they shall lay their hand upon
Edom and Moab; and the children of
Ammon shall obey them.
They will
swoop down on the slopes of the Philistines to the west; together they will
plunder the sons of the east. They will lay their hands on
Edom and Moab, and the
Ammonites will be subject to them.
For the fields of
Heshbon languish, and the vine of Sibmah: the lords of the heathen have broken down the principal plants thereof, they are come even unto Jazer, they
wandered through the wilderness: her branches are stretched out, they are gone over the sea.
For the fields of
Heshbon have
withered, along with the grapevines of Sibmah. The rulers of the nations have
trampled its choicest vines, which had reached as far as Jazer and spread
toward the desert. Their shoots had spread out and passed over the sea.
Wherefore the Lord said,
Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear
toward me is taught by the
precept of men:
Therefore the Lord said: “These people draw near to Me with their mouths and honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me. Their worship of Me is but rules taught by men.
Then
Hezekiah turned his face
toward the wall, and prayed unto the LORD,
Then
Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the LORD,
And kings shall be thy
nursing fathers, and their queens thy
nursing mothers: they shall bow down to thee with their face
toward the earth, and
lick up the dust of thy feet; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD: for they shall not be
ashamed that wait for me.
Kings will be your
foster fathers, and their queens your
nursing mothers. They will bow to you facedown and
lick the dust at your feet. Then you will know that I am the LORD; those who hope in Me will never be put to shame.”
I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD, and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness
toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his
mercies, and according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.
I will make known the LORD’s loving devotion and His
praiseworthy acts, because of all that the LORD has done for us— the many good things for the house of Israel according to His great
compassion and loving devotion.
Look down from heaven, and behold from the
habitation of thy
holiness and of thy glory: where is thy zeal and thy strength, the sounding of thy
bowels and of thy
mercies toward me? are they restrained?
Look down from heaven and see, from Your holy and glorious
habitation. Where are Your zeal and might? Your
yearning and
compassion for me are restrained.
And when ye see this, your heart shall
rejoice, and your bones shall
flourish like an
herb: and the hand of the LORD shall be known
toward his servants, and his
indignation toward his enemies.
When you see, you will
rejoice, and you will
flourish like grass; then the hand of the LORD will be revealed to His servants, but His wrath will be shown to His enemies.
And the word of the LORD came unto me the second time, saying, What seest thou? And I said, I see a
seething pot; and the face thereof is
toward the north.
Again the word of the LORD came to me, asking, “What do you see?” “I see a boiling pot,” I replied, “and it is
tilting toward us from the north.”
Go and
proclaim these words
toward the north, and say, Return, thou
backsliding Israel, saith the LORD; and I will not cause mine anger to fall upon you: for I am
merciful, saith the LORD, and I will not keep anger for ever.
Go,
proclaim this message
toward the north: ‘Return, O faithless Israel,’ declares the LORD. ‘I will no longer look on you with anger, for I am
merciful,’ declares the LORD. ‘I will not be
angry forever.
Set up the standard
toward Zion: retire, stay not: for I will bring evil from the north, and a great destruction.
Raise a signal flag
toward Zion. Seek refuge! Do not delay! For I am bringing
disaster from the north, and terrible destruction.
At that time shall it be said to this people and to Jerusalem, A dry wind of the high places in the wilderness
toward the daughter of my people, not to
fan, nor to
cleanse,
At that time it will be said to this people and to Jerusalem, “A
searing wind from the barren heights in the desert blows
toward the daughter of My people, but not to
winnow or to
sift;
For if ye throughly
amend your ways and your doings; if ye throughly
execute judgment between a man and his neighbour;
For if you really correct your ways and deeds, if you act justly toward one another,
But thou, O LORD, knowest me: thou hast seen me, and tried mine heart toward thee: pull them out like sheep for the slaughter, and prepare them for the day of slaughter.
But You know me, O LORD; You see me and test my heart
toward You.
Drag away the wicked like sheep to the slaughter and set them apart for the day of
carnage.
Then said the LORD unto me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind could not be toward this people: cast them out of my sight, and let them go forth.
Then the LORD said to me: “Even if Moses and Samuel should stand before Me, My heart would not go out to this people. Send them from My presence, and let them go.
For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of
drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.
He is like a tree planted by the waters that sends out its roots
toward the stream. It does not fear when the heat comes, and its leaves are always green. It does not
worry in a year of
drought, nor does it cease to produce fruit.
For thus saith the LORD, That after seventy years be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place.
For this is what the LORD says: “When Babylon’s seventy years are complete, I will attend to you and
confirm My promise to restore you to this place.
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to
prosper you and not to
harm you, to give you a future and a hope.
Set thee up waymarks, make thee high heaps: set thine heart
toward the
highway, even the way which thou wentest: turn again, O virgin of Israel, turn again to these thy cities.
“Set up the roadmarks, establish the signposts. Keep the
highway in mind, the road you have traveled. Return, O Virgin Israel, return to these cities of yours.
And the measuring line shall yet go forth over against it upon the hill Gareb, and shall compass about to Goath.
The measuring line will once again stretch out straight to the hill of Gareb and then turn toward Goah.
And the whole valley of the dead bodies, and of the ashes, and all the fields unto the
brook of Kidron, unto the corner of the horse gate
toward the east, shall be holy unto the LORD; it shall not be
plucked up, nor thrown down any more for ever.
The whole valley of the dead bodies and ashes, and all the fields as far as the Kidron Valley, to the corner of the Horse Gate to the east, will be holy to the LORD. It will never again be uprooted or
demolished.”
Let not the swift
flee away, nor the mighty man escape; they shall
stumble, and fall
toward the north by the river Euphrates.
“The swift cannot
flee, and the
warrior cannot escape! In the north by the River Euphrates they
stumble and fall.
And upon
Elam will I bring the four winds from the four quarters of heaven, and will
scatter them
toward all those winds; and there shall be no nation
whither the outcasts of
Elam shall not come.
I will bring the four winds against
Elam from the four corners of the heavens, and I will
scatter them to all these winds. There will not be a nation to which
Elam’s exiles will not go.
They shall ask the way to
Zion with their faces
thitherward, saying, Come, and let us join ourselves to the LORD in a perpetual covenant that shall not be forgotten.
They will ask the way to
Zion and turn their faces
toward it. They will come and join themselves to the LORD in an
everlasting covenant that will never be forgotten.
Then the city was broken up, and all the men of war fled, and went forth out of the city by night by the way of the gate between the two walls, which was by the king’s garden; (now the Chaldeans were by the city round about:) and they went by the way of the plain.
Then the city was breached; and though the Chaldeans had surrounded the city, all the men of war fled the city by night by way of the gate between the two walls near the king’s garden. They headed toward the Arabah,
Arise, cry out in the night: in the beginning of the watches pour out thine heart like water before the face of the Lord: lift up thy hands
toward him for the life of thy young children, that
faint for hunger in the top of every street.
Arise, cry out in the night from the first watch of the night. Pour out your heart like water in the presence of the Lord. Lift up your hands to Him for the lives of your children who are
fainting from hunger on the corner of every street.
And under the
firmament were their wings straight, the one
toward the other: every one had two, which covered on this side, and every one had two, which covered on that side, their bodies.
And under the
expanse, their wings stretched out
toward one another. Each one also had two wings covering its body.
Moreover take thou unto thee an iron pan, and set it for a wall of iron between thee and the city: and set thy face against it, and it shall be besieged, and thou shalt lay siege against it. This shall be a sign to the house of Israel.
Then take an iron plate and set it up as an iron wall between
yourself and the city. Turn your face
toward it so that it is under siege, and
besiege it. This will be a sign to the house of Israel.
Therefore thou shalt set thy face
toward the siege of Jerusalem, and thine arm shall be uncovered, and thou shalt
prophesy against it.
You must turn your face
toward the siege of Jerusalem with your arm bared, and
prophesy against it.
Son of man, set thy face
toward the mountains of Israel, and
prophesy against them,
“Son of man, set your face against the mountains of Israel and
prophesy against them.
So will I stretch out my hand upon them, and make the land
desolate,
yea, more
desolate than the wilderness
toward Diblath, in all their habitations: and they shall know that I am the LORD.
I will stretch out My hand against them, and wherever they live I will make the land a
desolate waste, from the wilderness to Diblah. Then they will know that I am the LORD.’”
And he put forth the form of an hand, and took me by a
lock of mine head; and the spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heaven, and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the inner gate that looketh
toward the north; where was the seat of the image of jealousy, which provoketh to jealousy.
He stretched out what looked like a hand and took me by the hair of my head. Then the Spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven and carried me in visions of God to Jerusalem, to the entrance of the north gate of the inner court, where the
idol that provokes jealousy was seated.
Then said he unto me, Son of man, lift up thine eyes now the way toward the north. So I lifted up mine eyes the way toward the north, and behold northward at the gate of the altar this image of jealousy in the entry.
“Son of man,” He said to me, “now lift up your eyes to the north.” So I lifted up my eyes to the north, and in the entrance north of the Altar Gate I saw this
idol of jealousy.
Then he brought me to the door of the gate of the LORD’S house which was
toward the north; and, behold, there sat women
weeping for
Tammuz.
Then He brought me to the entrance of the north gate of the house of the LORD, and I saw women sitting there,
weeping for
Tammuz.
And he brought me into the inner court of the LORD’S house, and, behold, at the door of the temple of the LORD, between the
porch and the altar, were about five and twenty men, with their backs
toward the temple of the LORD, and their faces
toward the east; and they worshipped the sun
toward the east.
So He brought me to the inner court of the house of the LORD, and there at the entrance to the temple of the LORD, between the
portico and the altar, were about twenty-five men with their backs to the temple of the LORD and their faces
toward the east; and they were bowing to the east in worship of the sun.
And, behold, six men came from the way of the higher gate, which lieth
toward the north, and every man a slaughter weapon in his hand; and one man among them was clothed with linen, with a writer’s
inkhorn by his side: and they went in, and stood beside the
brasen altar.
And I saw six men coming from the direction of the Upper Gate, which faces north, each with a weapon of slaughter in his hand. With them was another man clothed in linen who had a writing
kit at his side. And they came in and stood beside the bronze altar.
And I will
scatter toward every wind all that are about him to help him, and all his bands; and I will draw out the sword after them.
And I will
scatter to every wind all the attendants around him and all his troops, and I will draw a sword to
chase after them.
So will I make my
fury toward thee to rest, and my jealousy shall depart from thee, and I will be quiet, and will be no more
angry.
So I will lay to rest My wrath against you, and My jealousy will turn away from you. Then I will be calm and no longer
angry.
That thou mayest remember, and be confounded, and never open thy mouth any more because of thy shame, when I am
pacified toward thee for all that thou hast done, saith the Lord GOD.
so that when I make
atonement for all you have done, you will remember and be
ashamed and never again open your mouth because of your disgrace, declares the Lord GOD.”
And it grew, and became a spreading vine of low
stature, whose branches turned
toward him, and the roots thereof were under him: so it became a vine, and brought forth branches, and shot forth sprigs.
It
sprouted and became a spreading vine, low in height, with branches turned
toward him; yet its roots remained where it stood. So it became a vine and yielded branches and sent out shoots.
There was also another great eagle with great wings and many feathers: and, behold, this vine did bend her roots
toward him, and shot forth her branches
toward him, that he might water it by the furrows of her
plantation.
But there was another great eagle with great wings and many feathers. And behold, this vine bent its roots toward him. It stretched out its branches to him from its planting bed, so that he might water it.
And all his fugitives with all his bands shall fall by the sword, and they that remain shall be scattered toward all winds: and ye shall know that I the LORD have spoken it.
All his choice troops will fall by the sword, and those who
survive will be scattered to every wind. Then you will know that I, the LORD, have spoken.’
Son of man, set thy face
toward the south, and drop thy word
toward the south, and
prophesy against the forest of the south field;
“Son of man, set your face
toward the south,
preach against it, and
prophesy against the forest of the Negev.
Son of man, set thy face
toward Jerusalem, and drop thy word
toward the holy places, and
prophesy against the land of Israel,
And your tires shall be upon your heads, and your
shoes upon your feet: ye shall not
mourn nor
weep; but ye shall pine away for your
iniquities, and
mourn one
toward another.
Your turbans will remain on your heads and your
sandals on your feet. You will not
mourn or
weep, but you will waste away because of your sins, and you will
groan among
yourselves.
Wherefore say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Ye eat with the blood, and lift up your eyes toward your idols, and shed blood: and shall ye possess the land?
Therefore tell them that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘You eat meat with the blood in it, lift up your eyes to your idols, and shed blood. Should you then possess the land?
For, behold, I am for you, and I will turn unto you, and ye shall be tilled and sown:
For behold, I am on your side; I will turn toward you, and you will be tilled and sown.
Then came he unto the gate which looketh
toward the east, and went up the stairs thereof, and measured the
threshold of the gate, which was one reed broad; and the other
threshold of the gate, which was one reed broad.
Then he came to the gate facing east and
climbed its steps. He measured the
threshold of the gate to be one rod deep.
And the gate of the outward court that looked toward the north, he measured the length thereof, and the breadth thereof.
He also measured the length and width of the
gateway of the outer court facing north.
And their windows, and their arches, and their palm trees, were after the measure of the gate that looketh toward the east; and they went up unto it by seven steps; and the arches thereof were before them.
Its windows,
portico, and palm trees had the same measurements as those of the gate facing east. Seven steps led up to it, with its
portico opposite them.
And the gate of the inner court was over against the gate toward the north, and toward the east; and he measured from gate to gate an hundred cubits.
There was a gate to the inner court facing the north gate, just as there was on the east. He measured the distance from
gateway to
gateway to be a hundred cubits.
After that he brought me toward the south, and behold a gate toward the south: and he measured the posts thereof and the arches thereof according to these measures.
Then he led me to the south side, and I saw a
gateway facing south. He measured its side pillars and
portico, and they had the same measurements as the others.
And there was a gate in the inner court toward the south: and he measured from gate to gate toward the south an hundred cubits.
The inner court also had a gate facing south, and he measured the distance from
gateway to
gateway toward the south to be a hundred cubits.
And the arches thereof were toward the utter court; and palm trees were upon the posts thereof: and the going up to it had eight steps.
Its
portico faced the outer court, and its side pillars were decorated with palm trees. Eight steps led up to it.
And he brought me into the inner court toward the east: and he measured the gate according to these measures.
And he brought me to the inner court on the east side, and he measured the
gateway; it had the same measurements as the others.
And the arches thereof were toward the outward court; and palm trees were upon the posts thereof, on this side, and on that side: and the going up to it had eight steps.
Its
portico faced the outer court, and its side pillars were decorated with palm trees on each side. Eight steps led up to it.
And the posts thereof were toward the utter court; and palm trees were upon the posts thereof, on this side, and on that side: and the going up to it had eight steps.
Its
portico faced the outer court, and its side pillars were decorated with palm trees on each side. Eight steps led up to it.
And without the inner gate were the chambers of the singers in the inner court, which was at the side of the north gate; and their prospect was toward the south: one at the side of the east gate having the prospect toward the north.
Outside the inner gate, within the inner court, were two chambers, one beside the north gate and facing south, and another beside the south gate and facing north.
And he said unto me, This chamber, whose prospect is toward the south, is for the priests, the keepers of the charge of the house.
Then the man said to me: “The chamber that faces south is for the priests who keep charge of the temple,
And the chamber whose prospect is
toward the north is for the priests, the keepers of the charge of the altar: these are the sons of
Zadok among the sons of Levi, which come near to the LORD to minister unto him.
and the chamber that faces north is for the priests who keep charge of the altar. These are the sons of
Zadok, the only Levites who may approach the LORD to minister before Him.”
And the doors of the side chambers were toward the place that was left, one door toward the north, and another door toward the south: and the breadth of the place that was left was five cubits round about.
The side rooms opened into this area, with one entrance on the north and another on the south. The open area was five cubits wide all around.
Now the building that was before the separate place at the end
toward the west was seventy cubits broad; and the wall of the building was five cubits thick round about, and the length thereof
ninety cubits.
Now the building that faced the temple
courtyard on the west was seventy cubits wide, and the wall of the building was five cubits thick all around, with a length of
ninety cubits.
Also the breadth of the face of the house, and of the separate place toward the east, an hundred cubits.
The width of the temple
courtyard on the east, including the front of the temple, was a hundred cubits.
So that the face of a man was toward the palm tree on the one side, and the face of a young lion toward the palm tree on the other side: it was made through all the house round about.
the face of a man was toward the palm tree on one side, and the face of a young lion was toward the palm tree on the other side. They were carved all the way around the temple.
Then he brought me forth into the utter court, the way toward the north: and he brought me into the chamber that was over against the separate place, and which was before the building toward the north.
Then the man led me out northward into the outer court, and he brought me to the group of chambers opposite the temple
courtyard and the outer wall on the north side.
And before the chambers was a walk of ten cubits breadth inward, a way of one
cubit; and their doors
toward the north.
In front of the chambers was an inner walkway ten cubits wide and a hundred cubits long. Their doors were on the north.
And the wall that was without over against the chambers,
toward the utter court on the
forepart of the chambers, the length thereof was fifty cubits.
An outer wall in front of the chambers was fifty cubits long and ran parallel to the chambers and the outer court.
The chambers were in the thickness of the wall of the court toward the east, over against the separate place, and over against the building.
On the south side along the length of the wall of the outer court were chambers adjoining the
courtyard and opposite the building,
And the way before them was like the appearance of the chambers which were toward the north, as long as they, and as broad as they: and all their goings out were both according to their fashions, and according to their doors.
with a
passageway in front of them, just like the chambers that were on the north. They had the same length and width, with similar exits and dimensions.
And according to the doors of the chambers that were toward the south was a door in the head of the way, even the way directly before the wall toward the east, as one entereth into them.
And corresponding to the doors of the chambers that were facing south, there was a door in front of the walkway that was parallel to the wall extending eastward.
Now when he had made an end of measuring the inner house, he brought me forth toward the gate whose prospect is toward the east, and measured it round about.
Now when the man had finished measuring the interior of the temple area, he led me out by the gate that faced east, and he measured the area all around:
Afterward he brought me to the gate, even the gate that looketh toward the east:
Then the man brought me back to the gate that faces east,
And the glory of the LORD came into the house by the way of the gate whose prospect is toward the east.
and the glory of the LORD entered the temple through the gate facing east.
And the settle shall be fourteen cubits long and fourteen broad in the four squares thereof; and the border about it shall be half a
cubit; and the bottom thereof shall be a
cubit about; and his stairs shall look
toward the east.
The
ledge shall also be square, fourteen cubits long and fourteen cubits wide, with a
rim of half a
cubit and a
gutter of a
cubit all around it. The steps of the altar shall face east.”
Then he brought me back the way of the gate of the outward sanctuary which looketh toward the east; and it was shut.
The man then brought me back to the outer gate of the sanctuary that faced east, but it was shut.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; The gate of the inner court that looketh toward the east shall be shut the six working days; but on the sabbath it shall be opened, and in the day of the new moon it shall be opened.
“This is what the Lord GOD says: ‘The gate of the inner court that faces east must be kept shut during the six days of work, but on the Sabbath day and on the day of the New Moon it shall be opened.
Now when the prince shall prepare a voluntary burnt offering or peace offerings
voluntarily unto the LORD, one shall then open him the gate that looketh
toward the east, and he shall prepare his burnt offering and his peace offerings, as he did on the sabbath day: then he shall go forth; and after his going forth one shall shut the gate.
When the prince makes a
freewill offering to the LORD, whether a burnt offering or a peace offering, the gate facing east must be opened for him. He is to offer his burnt offering or peace offering just as he does on the Sabbath day. Then he shall go out, and the gate must be closed after he goes out.
After he brought me through the entry, which was at the side of the gate, into the holy chambers of the priests, which looked toward the north: and, behold, there was a place on the two sides westward.
Then the man brought me through the entrance at the side of the gate into the holy chambers facing north, which belonged to the priests, and he showed me a place there at the far western end
Afterward he brought me again unto the door of the house; and, behold, waters issued out from under the
threshold of the house eastward: for the
forefront of the house stood
toward the east, and the waters came down from under from the right side of the house, at the south side of the altar.
Then the man brought me back to the entrance of the temple, and I saw water flowing from under the
threshold of the temple
toward the east (for the temple faced east). The water was coming down from under the south side of the temple, south of the altar.
Then said he unto me, These waters issue out
toward the east country, and go down into the desert, and go into the sea: which being brought forth into the sea, the waters shall be
healed.
And he said to me, “This water flows out to the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah. When it
empties into the Sea, the water there becomes fresh.
And this shall be the border of the land toward the north side, from the great sea, the way of Hethlon, as men go to Zedad;
This shall be the boundary of the land:
And for them, even for the priests, shall be this holy
oblation;
toward the north five and twenty thousand in length, and
toward the west ten thousand in breadth, and
toward the east ten thousand in breadth, and
toward the south five and twenty thousand in length: and the sanctuary of the LORD shall be in the midst thereof.
This will be the holy portion for the priests. It will be 25,000 cubits long on the north side, 10,000 cubits wide on the west side, 10,000 cubits wide on the east side, and 25,000 cubits long on the south side. In the center will be the sanctuary of the LORD.
And the suburbs of the city shall be toward the north two hundred and fifty, and toward the south two hundred and fifty, and toward the east two hundred and fifty, and toward the west two hundred and fifty.
The pastureland of the city will extend 250 cubits to the north, 250 cubits to the south, 250 cubits to the east, and 250 cubits to the west.
And the residue shall be for the prince, on the one side and on the other of the holy
oblation, and of the possession of the city, over against the five and twenty thousand of the
oblation toward the east border, and westward over against the five and twenty thousand
toward the west border, over against the portions for the prince: and it shall be the holy
oblation; and the sanctuary of the house shall be in the midst thereof.
The remaining area on both sides of the holy portion and of the property of the city will belong to the prince. He will own the land adjacent to the
tribal portions, extending eastward from the 25,000 cubits of the holy district
toward the eastern border, and westward from the 25,000 cubits to the western border. And in the center of them will be the holy portion and the sanctuary of the temple.
And by the border of
Gad, at the south side southward, the border shall be even from Tamar unto the waters of
strife in Kadesh, and to the river
toward the great sea.
The southern border of
Gad will run from Tamar to the waters of Meribath-kadesh, then along the
Brook of Egypt and out to the Great Sea.
Then was
Nebuchadnezzar full of
fury, and the form of his
visage was changed against
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abed-nego: therefore he spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was
wont to be heated.
At this,
Nebuchadnezzar was filled with
rage, and the expression on his face changed
toward Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abednego. He gave orders to heat the furnace seven times hotter than usual,
I thought it good to
shew the signs and wonders that the high God hath wrought
toward me.
I am pleased to declare the signs and wonders that the Most High God has performed for me.
Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber
toward Jerusalem, he
kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave
thanks before his God, as he did
aforetime.
Now when Daniel learned that the document had been signed, he went into his house, where the windows of his upper room opened
toward Jerusalem, and three times a day he got down on his knees, prayed, and gave
thanks to his God, just as he had done before.
I saw the ram
pushing westward, and northward, and southward; so that no beasts might stand before him, neither was there any that could deliver out of his hand; but he did according to his will, and became great.
I saw the ram charging
toward the west and the north and the south. No animal could stand against him, and there was no
deliverance from his power. He did as he pleased and became great.
And he came to the ram that had two horns, which I had seen standing before the river, and ran unto him in the
fury of his power.
He came
toward the two-horned ram I had seen standing beside the canal and
rushed at him with
furious power.
Therefore the he goat waxed very great: and when he was strong, the great horn was broken; and for it came up four notable ones toward the four winds of heaven.
Thus the goat became very great, but at the height of his power, his large horn was broken off, and four prominent horns came up in its place, pointing toward the four winds of heaven.
And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land.
From one of these horns a little horn
emerged and grew extensively
toward the south and the east and
toward the Beautiful Land.
