I was in the city of
Joppa praying: and in a
trance I saw a
vision, A certain vessel descend, as it had been a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came even to me:
“I was in the city of
Joppa praying, and in a
trance I saw a
vision of something like a large sheet being let down from heaven by its four corners, and it came right down to me.
And he went out, and followed him; and
wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a
vision.
So Peter followed him out, but he was unaware that what the angel was doing was real. He thought he was only seeing a vision.
Simeon hath declared how God at the first did
visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name.
Simon has told us how God first visited the Gentiles to take from them a people to be His own.
And some days after Paul said unto
Barnabas, Let us go again and
visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they do.
Some time later Paul said to
Barnabas, “Let us go back and
visit the brothers in every town where we proclaimed the word of the Lord, to see how they are doing.”
And a
vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of
Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into
Macedonia, and help us.
And after he had seen the
vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into
Macedonia,
assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to
preach the gospel unto them.
As soon as Paul had seen the
vision, we got ready to leave for
Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to
preach the gospel to them.
And found a certain
Jew named
Aquila, born in
Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife
Priscilla; (because that
Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto them.
There he found a
Jew named
Aquila, a native of
Pontus, who had recently come from Italy with his wife
Priscilla because
Claudius had ordered all the Jews to leave Rome. Paul went to
visit them,
Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace:
One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision: “Do not be afraid; keep on speaking; do not be silent.
And the next day we touched at
Sidon. And Julius
courteously entreated Paul, and gave him liberty to go unto his friends to refresh himself.
The next day we landed at
Sidon, and Julius treated Paul with consideration, allowing him to
visit his friends and receive their care.
And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own
hired house, and received all that came in unto him,
Paul stayed there two full years in his own rented house,
welcoming all who came to
visit him.
Now I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that
oftentimes I purposed to come unto you, (but was let hitherto,) that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles.
I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, how often I
planned to come to you (but have been prevented from
visiting until now), in order that I might have a harvest among you, just as I have had among the other Gentiles.
But now having no more place in these parts, and having a great desire these many years to come unto you;
But now that there are no further
opportunities for me in these regions, and since I have longed for many years to
visit you,
And in this confidence I was minded to come unto you before, that ye might have a second benefit;
Confident of this, I
planned to
visit you first, so that you might receive a double blessing.
And to pass by you into
Macedonia, and to come again out of
Macedonia unto you, and of you to be brought on my way toward Judaea.
I wanted to
visit you on my way to
Macedonia, and to return to you from
Macedonia, and then to have you help me on my way to
Judea.
But I determined this with myself, that I would not come again to you in
heaviness.
So I made up my mind not to make another painful visit to you.
Therefore I thought it necessary to
exhort the brethren, that they would go before unto you, and make up
beforehand your
bounty,
whereof ye had notice before, that the same might be ready, as a matter of
bounty, and not as of
covetousness.
So I thought it necessary to
urge the brothers to
visit you
beforehand and make arrangements for the
bountiful gift you had promised. This way, your gift will be prepared generously and not begrudgingly.
It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord.
I must go on
boasting. Although there is nothing to gain, I will go on to
visions and revelations from the Lord.
I desired
Titus, and with him I sent a brother. Did
Titus make a gain of you? walked we not in the same spirit? walked we not in the same steps?
I urged
Titus to
visit you, and I sent our brother with him. Did
Titus exploit you in any way? Did we not walk in the same Spirit and follow in the same footsteps?
But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for
whatsoever doth make manifest is light.
But everything exposed by the light becomes
visible, for everything that is
illuminated becomes a light itself.
For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth,
visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or
principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
For in Him all things were created, things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities. All things were created through Him and for Him.
For
yourselves, brethren, know our entrance in unto you, that it was not in vain:
You
yourselves know, brothers, that our
visit to you was not in vain.
But now when
Timotheus came from you unto us, and brought us good
tidings of your faith and charity, and that ye have good
remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you:
But just now,
Timothy has returned from his
visit with the good news about your faith, your love, and the fond
memories you have preserved, longing to see us just as we long to see you.
But one in a certain place
testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou
visitest him?
But
somewhere it is
testified in these words: “What is man that You are mindful of him, or the son of man that You care for him?
Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.
Pure religion and
undefiled before God and the Father is this, To
visit the fatherless and widows in their
affliction, and to keep himself
unspotted from the world.
Pure and
undefiled religion before our God and Father is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep
oneself from being
polluted by the world.
Having your conversation
honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold,
glorify God in the day of
visitation.
Conduct
yourselves with such honor among the Gentiles that, though they
slander you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and
glorify God on the day He
visits us.
And thus I saw the horses in the
vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of
jacinth, and
brimstone: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and
brimstone.
Now the horses and riders in my
vision looked like this: The riders had breastplates the colors of fire,
sapphire, and sulfur. The heads of the horses were like the heads of lions, and out of their mouths proceeded fire, smoke, and sulfur.
Nevertheless the elders of the Jews obtained favour, because the Lord had visited the captivity;
Then said I, Lord, I
beseech thee, if I have found favour in thy sight,
shew thy servant by whom thou
visitest thy creature.
And it said, Behold, the days come, that I will begin to draw
nigh, and to
visit them that dwell upon the earth,
Then shalt thou understand, that it is the very same time, wherein the Highest will begin to visit the world which he made.
Now therefore I
beseech thee that thou
wilt shew thy servant of this
vision.
This therefore is the meaning of the vision which thou lately sawest:
And so shall the Highest
shew thee
visions of the high things, which the most High will do unto them that dwell upon the earth in the last days. So I
slept that night and another, like as he commanded me.
Comfort me then, and
shew me thy servant the interpretation and plain difference of this fearful
vision, that thou mayest perfectly comfort my soul.
And he said unto me, This is the interpretation of the vision:
The eagle, whom thou sawest come up from the sea, is the kingdom which was seen in the vision of thy brother Daniel.
The interpretation of the
vision shall I
shew thee, and I will open unto thee the thing that thou hast required.
This is the meaning of the vision: Whereas thou sawest a man coming up from the midst of the sea:
For the time is fled far away, and
leasing is hard at hand: for now hasteth the
vision to come, which thou hast seen.
The Highest gave understanding unto the five men, and they wrote the wonderful
visions of the night that were told, which they knew not: and they sat forty days, and they wrote in the day, and at night they
ate bread.
Behold an
horrible vision, and the appearance thereof from the east:
All these days I did appear unto you; but I did neither eat nor drink, but ye did see a vision.
Ye shall stand this night in the gate, and I will go forth with my waitingwoman: and within the days that ye have promised to deliver the city to our enemies the Lord will visit Israel by mine hand.
And God turn these things to thee for a perpetual praise, to
visit thee in good things because thou hast not
spared thy life for the
affliction of our nation, but hast
revenged our ruin, walking a straight way before our God. And all the people said; So be it, so be it.
Their offspring is
cursed. Wherefore blessed is the barren that is
undefiled, which hath not known the sinful bed: she shall have fruit in the
visitation of souls.
Therefore even upon the idols of the Gentiles shall there be a
visitation: because in the creature of God they are become an
abomination, and stumblingblocks to the souls of men, and a
snare to the feet of the unwise.
Whom men could not honour in presence, because they dwelt far off, they took the
counterfeit of his
visage from far, and made an express image of a king whom they honoured, to the end that by this their forwardness they might
flatter him that was absent, as if he were present.
For neither might the corner that held them keep them from fear: but noises as of waters falling down sounded about them, and
sad visions appeared unto them with heavy countenances.
Then suddenly
visions of
horrible dreams troubled them
sore, and terrors came upon them unlooked for.
Woe unto you that have lost
patience! and what will ye do when the Lord shall
visit you?
Be not slow to visit the sick: for that shall make thee to be beloved.
Behold, the heaven, and the heaven of heavens, the deep, and the earth, and all that therein is, shall be moved when he shall visit.
The vision of dreams is the resemblance of one thing to another, even as the likeness of a face to a face.
If they be not sent from the most High in thy
visitation, set not thy heart upon them.
A little or nothing is his rest, and afterward he is in his sleep, as in a day of keeping watch, troubled in the vision of his heart, as if he were escaped out of a battle.
By his faithfulness he was found a true prophet, and by his word he was known to be faithful in vision.
For Ezekias had done the thing that pleased the Lord, and was strong in the ways of David his father, as Esay the prophet, who was great and faithful in his vision, had commanded him.
It was
Ezekiel who saw the glorious
vision, which was shewed him upon the
chariot of the cherubims.
Now Simon was
visiting the cities that were in the country, and taking care for the good ordering of them; at which time he came down himself to
Jericho with his sons, Mattathias and
Judas, in the hundred
threescore and
seventeenth year, in the
eleventh month, called Sabat:
So
forthwith Heliodorus took his journey; under a colour of
visiting the cities of Celosyria and Phenice, but indeed to fulfil the king’s purpose.
And this was his
vision: That Onias, who had been high priest, a
virtuous and a good man,
reverend in conversation, gentle in condition, well spoken also, and exercised from a child in all points of virtue, holding up his hands prayed for the whole body of the Jews.
