And in the evening he cometh with the twelve.
When evening came, Jesus arrived with the Twelve.
And as they sat and did eat, Jesus said,
Verily I say unto you, One of you which eateth
with me shall
betray me.
And while they were
reclining and eating, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, one of you who is eating
with Me will
betray Me.”
And he answered and said unto them, It is one of the twelve, that dippeth
with me in the
dish.
He answered, “It is one of the Twelve—the one who is
dipping his hand into the
bowl with Me.
But he spake the more
vehemently, If I should die
with thee, I will not deny thee in any wise. Likewise also said they all.
But Peter kept
insisting, “Even if I have to die
with You, I will never deny You.” And all the others said the same thing.
And he taketh
with him Peter and James and John, and began to be
sore amazed, and to be very heavy;
He took with Him Peter, James, and John, and began to be deeply troubled and distressed.
And saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death:
tarry ye here, and watch.
Then He said to them, “My soul is consumed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch.”
And immediately, while he yet spake, cometh
Judas, one of the twelve, and
with him a great multitude
with swords and
staves, from the chief priest and the
scribes and the elders.
While Jesus was still speaking,
Judas, one of the Twelve, arrived, accompanied by a crowd armed
with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests,
scribes, and elders.
Now the
betrayer had arranged a signal
with them: “The One I
kiss is the man; arrest Him and lead Him away securely.”
And Jesus answered and said unto them, Are ye come out, as against a
thief,
with swords and
with staves to take me?
Jesus asked the crowd, “Have you come out with swords and clubs to arrest Me as you would an outlaw?
I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and ye took me not: but the scriptures must be fulfilled.
Every day I was with you, teaching in the temple courts, and you did not arrest Me. But this has happened that the Scriptures would be fulfilled.”
And they led Jesus away to the high priest: and
with him were assembled all the chief priests and the elders and the
scribes.

scribes assembled.
And Peter followed him
afar off, even into the palace of the high priest: and he sat
with the servants, and warmed himself at the fire.
Peter followed Him at a distance, right into the
courtyard of the high priest. And he sat
with the officers and warmed himself by the fire.
And the chief priests and all the council sought for witness against Jesus to put him to death; and found none.
Now the chief priests and the whole
Sanhedrin were seeking testimony against Jesus to put Him to death, but they did not find any.
For many bare false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together.
For many bore false witness against Jesus, but their testimony was inconsistent.
And there arose certain, and bare false witness against him, saying,
Then some men stood up and
testified falsely against Him:
We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands.
“We heard Him say, ‘I will destroy this man-made temple, and in three days I will build another that is made without hands.’”
But neither so did their witness agree together.
But even their testimony was inconsistent.
And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?
So the high priest stood up before them and questioned Jesus, “Have You no answer? What are these men
testifying against You?”
And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
“I am,” said Jesus, “and you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power and coming with the clouds of heaven.”
Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses?
At this, the high priest
tore his clothes and declared, “Why do we need any more
witnesses?
And some began to
spit on him, and to cover his face, and to
buffet him, and to say unto him,
Prophesy: and the servants did strike him
with the palms of their hands.
Then some of them began to
spit on Him. They
blindfolded Him, struck Him
with their fists, and said to Him, “
Prophesy!” And the officers received Him
with slaps in His face.

And
straightway in the morning the chief priests held a
consultation with the elders and
scribes and the whole council, and bound Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him to
Pilate.
Early in the morning, the chief priests, elders,
scribes, and the whole
Sanhedrin devised a plan. They bound Jesus, led Him away, and handed Him over to
Pilate.
And
Pilate asked him again, saying, Answerest thou nothing? behold how many things they
witness against thee.
Then
Pilate questioned Him again, “Have You no answer? Look how many charges they are bringing against You!”
And there was one named Barabbas, which lay bound with them that had made insurrection with him, who had committed murder in the insurrection.

Pilate answered and said again unto them, What will ye then that I shall do unto him whom ye call the King of the Jews?
So

And they clothed him
with purple, and
platted a crown of thorns, and put it about his head,
They dressed Him in a purple
robe, twisted together a crown of thorns, and set it on His head.
And they
smote him on the head
with a reed, and did
spit upon him, and bowing their knees worshipped him.
They kept striking His head
with a staff and
spitting on Him. And they
knelt down and bowed before Him.
And they gave him to drink wine mingled
with myrrh: but he received it not.
There they offered Him wine mixed
with myrrh, but He did not take it.
And
with him they
crucify two
thieves; the one on his right hand, and the other on his left.
Along
with Jesus, they
crucified two robbers, one on His right and one on His left.
And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors.
Likewise also the chief priests
mocking said among themselves
with the
scribes, He saved others; himself he cannot save.
In the same way, the chief priests and
scribes mocked Him among themselves, saying, “He saved others, but He cannot save Himself!
Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were
crucified with him
reviled him.
Let the Christ, the King of Israel, come down now from the cross, so that we may see and believe!” And even those who were
crucified with Him
berated Him.
And at the ninth hour Jesus
cried with a loud voice, saying,
Eloi,
Eloi,
lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou
forsaken me?

cried out in a loud voice, “
Eloi,
Eloi, lema sabachthani?” which means, “My God, My God, why have You
forsaken Me?”
And one ran and filled a
spunge full of
vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink, saying, Let alone; let us see whether Elias will come to take him down.

Elijah comes to take Him down.”

cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost.

upbraided them
with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen.

And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
And these signs will
accompany those who believe: In My name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues;
They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not
hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
they will
pick up snakes
with their hands, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not
harm them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will be made well.”

with the Holy Spirit even from his mother’s

So the angel told her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.
And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.
Look, even Elizabeth your relative has conceived a son in her old age, and she who was called barren is in her sixth month.
For with God nothing shall be impossible.
For no word from God will ever fail.”
And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country
with haste, into a city of Juda;
In those days Mary got ready and

And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the

He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
He has performed mighty deeds with His arm; He has scattered those who are proud in the thoughts of their hearts.
He hath filled the

with an husband seven years from her

Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of
repentance, and begin not to say
within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
Produce fruit, then, in keeping
with repentance. And do not begin to say to
yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham.

Then some soldiers asked him, “And what should we do?” “Do not take money by force or false
accusation,” he said. “Be content
with your wages.”
John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed
baptize you
with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the
latchet of whose
shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall
baptize you
with the Holy Ghost and
with fire:
John answered all of them: “I
baptize you
with water, but One more powerful than I will come, the straps of whose
sandals I am not worthy to
untie. He will
baptize you
with the Holy Spirit and
with fire.
Whose
fan is in his hand, and he will throughly
purge his floor, and will gather the wheat into his

chaff he will burn
with fire
unquenchable.

demon. He
cried out in a loud voice,
Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do
with thee, thou Jesus of

“
Ha! What do You want
with us, Jesus of
Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!”
And Jesus
rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and
hurt him not.
But Jesus
rebuked the
demon. “Be silent!” He said. “Come out of him!” At this, the
demon threw the man down before them all and came out
without harming him.
And they were all
amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for
with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.
All the people were overcome
with amazement and asked one another, “What is this message?
With authority and power He commands the unclean spirits, and they come out!”

And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the
tiling with his
couch into the midst before Jesus.

And he spake also a parable unto them; No man putteth a piece of a new garment upon an old; if otherwise, then both the new maketh a rent, and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth not with the old.
He also told them a parable: “No one tears a piece of cloth from a new garment and sews it on an old one. If he does, he will
tear the new garment as well, and the
patch from the new will not
match the old.
