Are there
yet the treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked, and the
scant measure that is
abominable?
Can I
forget any longer, O house of the wicked, the treasures of wickedness and the short
ephah, which is
accursed?
Thus saith the LORD: Though they be quiet, and likewise many,
yet thus shall they be cut down, when he shall pass through. Though I have
afflicted thee, I will
afflict thee no more.
This is what the LORD says: “Though they are allied and numerous,
yet they will be cut down and pass away. Though I have
afflicted you, O Judah, I will
afflict you no longer.
But
Nineveh is of old like a
pool of water:
yet they shall
flee away. Stand, stand, shall they cry; but none shall look back.
Nineveh has been like a
pool of water throughout her days, but now it is
draining away. “Stop! Stop!” they cry, but no one turns back.
Yet was she carried away, she went into captivity: her young children also were
dashed in pieces at the top of all the streets: and they cast lots for her honourable men, and all her great men were bound in chains.
Yet she became an exile; she went into captivity. Her infants were
dashed to pieces at the head of every street. They cast lots for her
dignitaries, and all her nobles were bound in chains.
For the vision is
yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it
tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not
tarry.
For the vision awaits an appointed time; it testifies of the end and does not lie. Though it lingers, wait for it, since it will surely come and will not delay.
Woe unto him that saith to the wood,
Awake; to the
dumb stone, Arise, it shall teach! Behold, it is laid over with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in the midst of it.
Woe to him who says to wood, ‘
Awake!’ or to silent stone, ‘Arise!’ Can it give guidance? Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver,
yet there is no breath in it at all.”
When I heard, my
belly trembled; my lips
quivered at the voice:
rottenness entered into my bones, and I
trembled in myself, that I might rest in the day of trouble: when he cometh up unto the people, he will
invade them with his troops.
I heard and
trembled within; my lips
quivered at the sound. Decay entered my bones; I
trembled where I stood.
Yet I must wait patiently for the day of distress to come upon the people who
invade us.
Yet I will
rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.
yet I will
exult in the LORD; I will
rejoice in the God of my salvation!
The just LORD is in the midst thereof; he will not do iniquity: every morning
doth he bring his judgment to light, he faileth not; but the unjust knoweth no shame.
The LORD within her is righteous; He does no wrong. He applies His justice morning by morning; He does not fail at
dawn,
yet the unjust know no shame.
Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that the LORD’S house should be built.
that this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “These people say, ‘The time has not yet come to rebuild the house of the LORD.’”
Yet now be strong, O
Zerubbabel, saith the LORD; and be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith the LORD, and work: for I am with you, saith the LORD of hosts:
But now be strong, O
Zerubbabel, declares the LORD. Be strong, O Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest. And be strong, all you people of the land, declares the LORD. Work! For I am with you, declares the LORD of Hosts.
For thus saith the LORD of hosts;
Yet once, it is a little while, and I will
shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land;
For this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Once more, in a little while, I will
shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land.
I
smote you with blasting and with
mildew and with
hail in all the labours of your hands;
yet ye turned not to me, saith the LORD.
I struck you—all the work of your hands—with
blight,
mildew, and
hail, but you did not turn to Me, declares the LORD.
Is the seed
yet in the
barn?
yea, as
yet the vine, and the fig tree, and the
pomegranate, and the olive tree, hath not brought forth: from this day will I
bless you.
Is there still seed in the
barn? The vine, the fig, the
pomegranate, and the olive tree have not
yet yielded fruit. But from this day on, I will
bless you.”
Cry
yet, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; My cities through prosperity shall
yet be spread abroad; and the LORD shall
yet comfort
Zion, and shall
yet choose Jerusalem.
Proclaim further that this is what the LORD of Hosts says: ‘My cities will again overflow with prosperity; the LORD will again comfort
Zion and choose Jerusalem.’”
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; There shall yet old men and old women dwell in the streets of Jerusalem, and every man with his staff in his hand for very age.
This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Old men and old women will again sit along the streets of Jerusalem, each with a staff in hand because of great age.
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; It shall yet come to pass, that there shall come people, and the inhabitants of many cities:
This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Peoples will yet come—the residents of many cities—
And the LORD said unto me, Take unto thee
yet the instruments of a
foolish shepherd.
And it shall come to pass, that when any shall
yet prophesy, then his father and his mother that
begat him shall say unto him, Thou shalt not live; for thou speakest lies in the name of the LORD: and his father and his mother that
begat him shall thrust him through when he prophesieth.
And if
anyone still prophesies, his father and mother who bore him will say to him, ‘You shall not remain alive, because you have spoken falsely in the name of the LORD.’ When he prophesies, his father and mother who bore him will
pierce him through.
I have loved you, saith the LORD.
Yet ye say, Wherein hast thou loved us? Was not
Esau Jacob’s brother? saith the LORD:
yet I loved Jacob,
“I have loved you,” says the LORD. But you ask, “How have You loved us?” “Was not
Esau Jacob’s brother?” declares the LORD. “
Yet Jacob I have loved,
Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the LORD hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt
treacherously:
yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant.
Yet you ask, “Why?” It is because the LORD has been a witness between you and the wife of your youth, against whom you have broken faith, though she is your companion and your wife by covenant.
And did not he make one?
Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take
heed to your spirit, and let none deal
treacherously against the wife of his youth.
Has not the LORD made them one, having a portion of the Spirit? And why one? Because He seeks godly offspring. So guard
yourselves in your spirit and do not break faith with the wife of your youth.
Ye have
wearied the LORD with your words.
Yet ye say, Wherein have we
wearied him? When ye say, Every one that doeth evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and he delighteth in them; or, Where is the God of judgment?
You have
wearied the LORD with your words;
yet you ask, “How have we
wearied Him?” By saying, “All who do evil are good in the sight of the LORD, and in them He delights,” or, “Where is the God of justice?”
Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?
Yet from the days of your fathers, you have turned away from My statutes and have not kept them. Return to Me, and I will return to you,” says the LORD of Hosts. “But you ask, ‘How can we return?’
Will a man
rob God?
Yet ye have
robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we
robbed thee? In
tithes and offerings.
Will a man
rob God?
Yet you are
robbing Me! But you ask, ‘How do we
rob You?’ In
tithes and offerings.
Your words have been
stout against me, saith the LORD.
Yet ye say, What have we spoken so much against thee?
“Your words against Me have been harsh,” says the LORD. “Yet you ask, ‘What have we spoken against You?’
Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor
yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than
raiment?
Therefore I tell you, do not
worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?
Behold the fowls of the air: for they
sow not, neither do they
reap, nor gather into barns;
yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
Look at the birds of the air: They do not
sow or
reap or gather into barns—and
yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
And
yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not
arrayed like one of these.
Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his glory was adorned like one of these.
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds
blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
The rain fell, the torrents
raged, and the winds
blew and beat against that house;
yet it did not fall, because its foundation was on the rock.
Nor
scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither
shoes, nor
yet staves: for the
workman is worthy of his meat.
Take no
bag for the road, or second
tunic, or
sandals, or staff; for the worker is worthy of his provisions.
Are not two sparrows sold for a
farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.
Are not two sparrows sold for a
penny?
Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father.
Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
Truly I tell you, among those born of women there has risen no one greater than John the Baptist. Yet even the least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple
profane the sabbath, and are
blameless?
Or
haven’t you read in the Law that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple break the Sabbath and
yet are innocent?
While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him.
While Jesus was still speaking to the crowds, His mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to Him.
Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when
tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is
offended.
But since he has no root, he remains for only a season. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, he quickly falls away.
Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and
lodge in the branches thereof.
Although it is the smallest of all seeds, yet it grows into the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and nest in its branches.”
And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding?
“Do you still not understand?” Jesus asked.
Do not ye
yet understand, that
whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the
belly, and is cast out into the draught?
“Do you not
yet realize that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then is
eliminated?
And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.
“
Yes, Lord,” she said, “even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.”
Do ye not
yet understand, neither remember the five
loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
Do you still not understand? Do you not remember the five
loaves for the five thousand, and how many
basketfuls you gathered?
For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?
While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
While Peter was still speaking, a bright cloud
enveloped them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Listen to Him!”
The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?
“All these I have kept,” said the young man. “What do I still lack?”
And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not
alarmed. These things must happen, but the end is still to come.
Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is
yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is
nigh:
Now learn this
lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its branches become tender and
sprout leaves, you know that summer is near.
Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be
offended because of thee,
yet will I never be
offended.
Peter said to Him, “Even if all fall away on account of You, I never will.”
Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples.
Peter replied, “Even if I have to die with You, I will never deny You.” And all the other disciples said the same thing.
And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou
wilt.
Going a little farther, He fell facedown and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me. Yet not as I will, but as You will.”
And while he
yet spake, lo,
Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and
staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people.
While Jesus was still speaking,
Judas, one of the Twelve, arrived, accompanied by a large crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests and elders of the people.
But found none:
yea, though many false witnesses came,
yet found they none. At the last came two false witnesses,
But they did not find any, though many false witnesses came forward. Finally two came forward
Saying, Sir, we remember that that
deceiver said, while he was
yet alive, After three days I will rise again.
“Sir,” they said, “we remember that while He was alive that
deceiver said, ‘After three days I will rise again.’
But he went out, and began to
publish it much, and to
blaze abroad the matter,
insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter.
But the man went out and openly began to
proclaim and spread the news. Consequently, Jesus could no longer enter a town in plain view, but He stayed out in solitary places.
Yet people came to Him from every quarter.
And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude
thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?
His disciples answered, “You can see the crowd pressing in on You, and yet You ask, ‘Who touched Me?’”
While he
yet spake, there came from the ruler of the
synagogue’s house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?
While He was still speaking, messengers from the house of Jairus arrived and said, “Your daughter is dead; why bother the Teacher anymore?”
For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man and an holy, and observed him; and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him
gladly.
because Herod feared John and protected him, knowing that he was a righteous and holy man. When he heard John’s words, he was greatly
perplexed;
yet he
listened to him
gladly.
And the king was exceeding
sorry;
yet for his oath’s sake, and for their sakes which sat with him, he would not
reject her.
The king was consumed with sorrow, but because of his oaths and his guests, he did not want to refuse her.
And she answered and said unto him,
Yes, Lord:
yet the dogs under the table eat of the children’s crumbs.
“
Yes, Lord,” she replied, “even the dogs under the table eat the children’s crumbs.”
And when Jesus knew it, he saith unto them, Why reason ye, because ye have no bread? perceive ye not
yet, neither understand? have ye your heart
yet hardened?
Aware of their conversation, Jesus asked them, “Why are you
debating about having no bread? Do you still not see or understand? Do you have such hard hearts?
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
What does it profit a man to gain the whole world,
yet forfeit his soul?
And seeing a fig tree
afar off having leaves, he came, if
haply he might find any thing
thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not
yet.
Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, He went to see if there was any fruit on it. But when He reached it, He found nothing on it except leaves, since it was not the season for figs.
Having yet therefore one son, his wellbeloved, he sent him also last unto them, saying, They will reverence my son.
Finally, having one beloved son, he sent him to them. ‘They will respect my son,’ he said.
And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet.
When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be
alarmed. These things must happen, but the end is still to come.
Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When her branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is near:
Now learn this
lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its branches become tender and
sprout leaves, you know that summer is near.
But Peter said unto him, Although all shall be
offended,
yet will not I.
Peter declared, “Even if all fall away, I never will.”
And he said,
Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou
wilt.
“
Abba, Father,” He said, “all things are possible for You. Take this cup from Me.
Yet not what I will, but what You will.”
And immediately, while he
yet spake, cometh
Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and
staves, from the chief priest and the
scribes and the elders.
While Jesus was still speaking,
Judas, one of the Twelve, arrived, accompanied by a crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests,
scribes, and elders.
Added yet this above all, that he shut up John in prison.
Herod added this to them all: He locked John up in prison.
But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of
Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow.
Yet Elijah was not sent to any of them, but to the widow of Zarephath in
Sidon.
And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was
cleansed, saving
Naaman the
Syrian.
And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed.
Yet He frequently withdrew to the wilderness to pray.
For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.
I tell you, among those born of women there is no one greater than John, yet even the least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.”
While he
yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the
synagogue’s house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master.
While He was still speaking, someone arrived from the house of the
synagogue leader. “Your daughter is dead,” he told Jairus. “Do not bother the Teacher anymore.”
For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?
What does it profit a man to gain the whole world,
yet lose or
forfeit his very self?
And as he was
yet a coming, the devil threw him down, and
tare him. And Jesus
rebuked the unclean spirit, and
healed the child, and delivered him again to his father.
Even while the boy was approaching, the
demon slammed him to the ground in a
convulsion. But Jesus
rebuked the unclean spirit,
healed the boy, and gave him back to his father.
Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do
wipe off against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come
nigh unto you.
‘Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet, we
wipe off as a testimony against you.
Yet be sure of this: The kingdom of God is near.’
I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend,
yet because of his
importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth.
I tell you, even though he will not get up to provide for him because of his friendship,
yet because of the man’s
persistence, he will get up and give him as much as he needs.
Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?
Are not five sparrows sold for two
pennies?
Yet not one of them is forgotten by God.
Consider the ravens: for they neither
sow nor
reap; which neither have
storehouse nor
barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?
Consider the ravens: They do not
sow or
reap, they have no
storehouse or
barn;
yet God feeds them. How much more valuable you are than the birds!
Consider the
lilies how they grow: they
toil not, they
spin not; and
yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not
arrayed like one of these.
Consider how the
lilies grow: They do not labor or
spin.
Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his glory was adorned like one of these.
And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room.
‘Sir,’ the servant replied, ‘what you ordered has been done, and there is still room.’
Or else, while the other is
yet a great way off, he sendeth an
ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace.
And if he is unable, he will send a
delegation while the other king is still far off, to ask for terms of peace.
It is neither fit for the land, nor
yet for the
dunghill; but men cast it out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
It is fit neither for the soil nor for the manure pile, and it is thrown out. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”
And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was
yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had
compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and
kissed him.
So he got up and went to his father. But while he was still in the distance, his father saw him and was filled with
compassion. He ran to his son, embraced him, and
kissed him.
And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither
transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and
yet thou never gavest me a
kid, that I might make
merry with my friends:
But he answered his father, ‘Look, all these years I have served you and never disobeyed a commandment of yours.
Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could
celebrate with my friends.
Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will
avenge her, lest by her continual coming she
weary me.
yet because this widow keeps
pestering me, I will give her justice. Then she will stop wearing me out with her perpetual requests.’”
Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him,
Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have
treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.
On hearing this, Jesus told him, “You still lack one thing: Sell everything you own and give to the poor, and you will have
treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me.”
Saying, Go ye into the village over against you; in the which at your entering ye shall find a
colt tied,
whereon yet never man sat: loose him, and bring him
hither.
saying, “Go into the village
ahead of you, and as you enter it, you will find a
colt tied there, on which no one has ever sat.
Untie it and bring it here.
And could not find what they might do: for all the people were very
attentive to hear him.
Yet they could not find a way to do so, because all the people hung on His words.
But there shall not an hair of your head perish.
Yet not even a hair of your head will perish.
For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.
For I tell you that this Scripture must be fulfilled in Me: ‘And He was numbered with the transgressors.’ For what is written about Me is reaching its
fulfillment.”
Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.
“Father, if You are willing, take this cup from Me. Yet not My will, but Yours be done.”
And while he
yet spake, behold a multitude, and he that was called
Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near unto Jesus to
kiss him.
While He was still speaking, a crowd arrived, led by the man called
Judas, one of the Twelve. He approached Jesus to
kiss Him.
And Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, while he
yet spake, the
cock crew.
“Man, I do not know what you are talking about,” Peter replied. While he was still speaking, the
rooster crowed.
No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death is done unto him.
Neither has Herod, for he sent Him back to us. As you can see, He has done nothing deserving of death.
And he took it down, and
wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a
sepulchre that was
hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.
Then he took it down,
wrapped it in a linen cloth, and placed it in a tomb cut into the rock, where no one had
yet been laid.
He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was
yet in
Galilee,
He is not here; He has risen! Remember how He told you while He was still in
Galilee:
And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat?
While they were still in disbelief because of their joy and
amazement, He asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?”
