But now are they many members, yet but one body.
As it is, there are many parts, but one body.
But
covet earnestly the best gifts: and
yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.
But eagerly desire the greater gifts. And now I will show you the most excellent way.
There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification.
Assuredly, there are many different languages in the world,
yet none of them is without meaning.
Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.
But in the church, I would rather speak five
coherent words to
instruct others than ten thousand words in a tongue.
In the law it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord.
It is written in the Law: “By strange tongues and foreign lips I will speak to this people, but even then they will not
listen to Me, says the Lord.”
But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace to me was not in vain. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.
And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.
And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is
futile; you are still in your sins.
Who delivered us from so great a death, and
doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will
yet deliver us;
He has delivered us from such a deadly
peril, and He will deliver us. In Him we have placed our hope that He will
yet again deliver us,
Moreover I call God for a record upon my soul, that to
spare you I came not as
yet unto Corinth.
I call God as my witness that it was in order to
spare you that I did not return to Corinth.
We are troubled on every side,
yet not distressed; we are
perplexed, but not in
despair;
For which cause we
faint not; but though our outward man perish,
yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, yet our inner self is being renewed day by day.
Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh:
yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh,
yet now henceforth know we him no more.
So from now on we regard no one according to the flesh. Although we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer.
By honour and dishonour, by evil report and good report: as deceivers, and yet true;
through glory and dishonor,
slander and praise; viewed as imposters,
yet genuine;
As unknown, and
yet well known; as dying, and, behold, we live; as
chastened, and not killed;
as unknown, yet well-known; dying, and yet we live on; punished, yet not killed;
As sorrowful,
yet alway rejoicing; as poor,
yet making many rich; as having nothing, and
yet possessing all things.
sorrowful,
yet always
rejoicing; poor,
yet making many rich; having nothing, and
yet possessing everything.
For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.
For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich.
Yet have I sent the brethren, lest our
boasting of you should be in vain in this behalf; that, as I said, ye may be ready:
But I am sending the brothers in order that our
boasting about you in this matter should not prove empty, but that you will be prepared, just as I said.
But though I be rude in speech, yet not in knowledge; but we have been throughly made manifest among you in all things.
Although I am not a polished speaker, I am certainly not lacking in knowledge. We have made this clear to you in every way possible.
I say again, Let no man think me a
fool; if otherwise,
yet as a
fool receive me, that I may
boast myself a little.
I
repeat: Let no one take me for a
fool. But if you do, then receive me as a
fool, so that I too may
boast a little.
Of such an one will I glory:
yet of myself I will not glory, but in mine
infirmities.
I will
boast about such a man, but I will not
boast about myself, except in my weaknesses.
For though he was
crucified through weakness,
yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you.
For He was indeed
crucified in weakness,
yet He lives by God’s power. And though we are weak in Him,
yet by God’s power we will live with Him to serve you.
For do I now
persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I
yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
Am I now seeking the
approval of men, or of God? Or am I
striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.
But neither
Titus, who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be
circumcised:
Yet not even
Titus, who was with me, was compelled to be
circumcised, even though he was a Greek.
I am
crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live;
yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
I have been
crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.
Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain.
Have you suffered so much for nothing, if it really was for nothing?
Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man’s covenant,
yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth
thereto.
Brothers, let me put this in human terms. Even a human covenant, once it is
ratified, cannot be
canceled or
amended.
And I, brethren, if I
yet preach circumcision, why do I
yet suffer persecution? then is the offence of the cross ceased.
For neither they themselves who are
circumcised keep the law; but desire to have you
circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh.
Be ye
angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
“Be
angry,
yet do not sin.” Do not let the sun set upon your anger,
For no man ever
yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
Indeed, no one ever
hated his own body, but he nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church.
And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;
And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight,
But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour:
yet what I shall choose I
wot not.
But if I go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. So what shall I choose? I do not know.
Yet I supposed it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, and companion in labour, and fellow soldier, but your
messenger, and he that ministered to my wants.
But I thought it necessary to send back to you Epaphroditus, my brother, fellow worker, and fellow soldier, who is also your
messenger and minister to my needs.
Brethren, I count not myself to have
apprehended: but this one thing I do,
forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
Brothers, I do not consider myself
yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do:
Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is
ahead,
Once you were
alienated from God and were hostile in your minds,
engaging in evil deeds.
For though I be absent in the flesh,
yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the
stedfastness of your faith in Christ.
For although I am absent from you in body, I am present with you in spirit, and I delight to see your orderly condition and firm faith in Christ.
Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor
yet of others, when we might have been
burdensome, as the apostles of Christ.
Nor did we seek praise from you or from
anyone else, although as apostles of Christ we had authority to demand it.
Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
Do you not remember that I told you these things while I was still with you?
For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are
busybodies.
Yet count him not as an enemy, but
admonish him as a brother.
Yet do not regard him as an enemy, but
warn him as a brother.
Who was before a
blasphemer, and a
persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.
I was formerly a
blasphemer, a
persecutor, and a violent man;
yet because I had acted in ignorance and unbelief, I was shown mercy.
Likewise, a
competitor does not receive the crown unless he competes according to the rules.
If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
if we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.
Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at
Iconium, at
Lystra; what persecutions I
endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me.
my persecutions, and the sufferings that came upon me in Antioch,
Iconium, and
Lystra. What persecutions I
endured!
Yet the Lord
rescued me from all of them.
Yet for love’s sake I rather
beseech thee, being such an one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ.
I
prefer to appeal on the basis of love. For I, Paul, am now aged, and a prisoner of Christ Jesus as well.
But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy
footstool?
Yet to which of the angels did God ever say: “Sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies a
footstool for Your feet”?
Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.
and placed everything under his feet.” When God subjected all things to him, He left nothing outside of his control. Yet at present we do not see everything subject to him.
For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have
sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
Now we who have believed enter that rest. As for the others, it is just as God has said: “So I
swore on oath in My anger, ‘They shall never enter My rest.’” And
yet His works have been finished since the foundation of the world.
For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our
infirmities; but was in all points
tempted like as we are,
yet without sin.
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to
sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who was
tempted in every way that we are,
yet was without sin.
Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from what He suffered.
For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him.
And it is
yet far more evident: for that after the
similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest,
And this point is even more clear if another priest like
Melchizedek appears,
The Holy Ghost this
signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not
yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was
yet standing:
By this arrangement the Holy Spirit was showing that the way into the Most Holy Place had not yet been disclosed as long as the first tabernacle was still standing.
Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others;
Nor did He enter heaven to offer Himself again and again, as the high priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood that is not his own.
For
yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not
tarry.
For, “In just a little while, He who is coming will come and will not delay.
By faith
Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than
Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God
testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead
yet speaketh.
By faith
Abel offered God a better sacrifice than
Cain did. By faith he was
commended as righteous when God gave
approval to his gifts. And by faith he still speaks, even though he is dead.
By faith
Noah, being
warned of God of things not seen as
yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
By faith
Noah, when
warned about things not
yet seen, in godly fear built an ark to save his family. By faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.
And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:
These were all
commended for their faith,
yet they did not receive what was promised.
Ye have not
yet resisted unto blood,
striving against sin.
In your struggle against sin, you have not
yet resisted to the point of
shedding your blood.
Whose voice then
shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying,
Yet once more I
shake not the earth only, but also heaven.
At that time His voice
shook the earth, but now He has promised, “Once more I will
shake not only the earth, but heaven as well.”
And this word,
Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are
shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be
shaken may remain.
The words “Once more”
signify the removal of what can be
shaken—that is, created things—so that the
unshakable may remain.
If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.
If
anyone considers himself religious and
yet does not
bridle his tongue, he deceives his heart and his religion is worthless.
For
whosoever shall keep the whole law, and
yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
Whoever keeps the whole law but stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.
For he that said, Do not commit
adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no
adultery,
yet if thou kill, thou art become a
transgressor of the law.
For He who said, “Do not commit
adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.” If you do not commit
adultery, but do commit murder, you have become a
lawbreaker.
Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds,
yet are they turned about with a very small
helm,
whithersoever the governor listeth.
Consider ships as well. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are
steered by a very small
rudder wherever the
pilot is inclined.
Ye
lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war,
yet ye have not, because ye ask not.
You
crave what you do not have; you kill and
covet, but are unable to obtain it. You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask.
Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
Anyone, then, who knows the right thing to do,
yet fails to do it, is guilty of sin.
Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not,
yet believing, ye
rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
Though you have not seen Him, you love Him; and though you do not see Him now, you believe in Him and
rejoice with an inexpressible and glorious joy,
Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be
ashamed; but let him
glorify God on this behalf.
But if you suffer as a Christian, do not be
ashamed, but
glorify God that you bear that name.
Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing
accusation against them before the Lord.
Yet not even angels, though greater in strength and power,
dare to bring such
slanderous charges against them before the Lord.
If we say that we have
fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
If we say we have
fellowship with Him
yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.
Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it
doth not
yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
Beloved, we are now children of God, and what we will be has not yet been revealed. We know that when Christ appears, we will be like Him, for we will see Him as He is.
All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.
All unrighteousness is sin, yet there is sin that does not lead to death.
Yet in the same way these dreamers
defile their bodies,
reject authority, and
slander glorious beings.
But even the
archangel Michael, when he disputed with the devil over the body of Moses, did not
presume to bring a
slanderous charge against him, but said, “The Lord
rebuke you!”
I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where
Satan’s seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein
Antipas was my faithful
martyr, who was slain among you, where
Satan dwelleth.
I know where you live, where the throne of
Satan sits.
Yet you have held fast to My name and have not denied your faith in Me, even in the day when My faithful witness
Antipas was killed among you, where
Satan dwells.
And unto the angel of the church in
Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.
“To the angel of the church in
Sardis write: These are the words of the One who holds the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars. I know your deeds; you have a reputation for being alive,
yet you are dead.
I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.
I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door, which no one can shut. For you have only a little strength, yet you have kept My word and have not denied My name.
And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.
Then each of them was given a white
robe and told to rest a little while longer, until the full number of their fellow servants, their brothers, were killed, just as they had been killed.
And I
beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice,
Woe,
woe,
woe, to the inhabiters of the earth by reason of the other voices of the
trumpet of the three angels, which are
yet to sound!
And as I observed, I heard an eagle flying overhead, calling in a loud voice, “
Woe!
Woe!
Woe to those who dwell on the earth, because of the
trumpet blasts about to be sounded by the remaining three angels!”
And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues
yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:
Now the rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues still did not
repent of the works of their hands. They did not stop worshiping demons and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone, and wood, which cannot see or hear or walk.
And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
Because of the signs it was given to perform on behalf of the first beast, it
deceived those who dwell on the earth, telling them to make an image to the beast that had been wounded by the sword and
yet had lived.
And men were
scorched with great heat, and
blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they
repented not to give him glory.
And the people were
scorched by intense heat, and they
cursed the name of God, who had authority over these plagues;
yet they did not
repent and give Him glory.
And
blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and
repented not of their deeds.
and
curse the God of heaven for their pains and sores;
yet they did not
repent of their deeds.
The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall
ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into
perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and
yet is.
The beast that you saw—it was, and now is no more, but is about to come up out of the
Abyss and go to its destruction. And those who dwell on the earth whose names were not written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world will
marvel when they see the beast that was, and is not, and
yet will be.
And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.
There are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, and the other has not yet come; but when he does come, he must remain for only a little while.
And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.
The ten horns you saw are ten kings who have not yet received a kingdom, but will receive one hour of authority as kings, along with the beast.
But
yet the king is more mighty: for he is lord of all these things, and hath dominion over them; and
whatsoever he commandeth them they do.
And
yet he is but one man: if he command to kill, they kill; if he command to
spare, they
spare;
Yet did I see him and Apame the king’s
concubine, the daughter of the admirable Bartacus, sitting at the right hand of the king,
And
yet for all this the king
gaped and
gazed upon her with open mouth: if she
laughed upon him, he
laughed also: but if she took any displeasure at him, the king was
fain to
flatter, that she might be
reconciled to him again.
And all they that had made any
vow to God began to offer sacrifices to God from the first day of the seventh month, although the temple of the Lord was not
yet built.
Insomuch that the
trumpets might not be heard for the
weeping of the people:
yet the multitude sounded marvellously, so that it was heard
afar off.
Then the same Sanabassarus, being come
hither, laid the foundations of the house of the Lord at Jerusalem; and from that time to this being still a building, it is not
yet fully ended.
I gave you light in a
pillar of fire, and great wonders have I done among you;
yet have ye forgotten me, saith the Lord.
And triumphed not in my name for the destruction of your enemies, but ever to this day do ye
yet murmur.
I divided among you a fruitful land, I cast out the
Canaanites, the Pherezites, and the Philistines, before you: what shall I
yet do more for you? saith the Lord.
Your houses will I give to a people that shall come; which not having heard of me yet shall believe me; to whom I have shewed no signs, yet they shall do that I have commanded them.
They have seen no prophets,
yet they shall call their sins to
remembrance, and acknowledge them.
I take to witness the grace of the people to come, whose little ones
rejoice in
gladness: and though they have not seen me with bodily eyes,
yet in spirit they believe the thing that I say.
