Sarah were old and well
stricken in age; and it ceased to be with
Sarah after the manner of women.
And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to
sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed
sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door.
“Get out of the way!” they replied. And they declared, “This one came here as a foreigner, and he is already acting like a judge! Now we will treat you worse than them.” And they pressed in on Lot and moved in to break down the door.
Then went
Esau unto
Ishmael, and took unto the wives which he had Mahalath the daughter of
Ishmael Abraham’s son, the sister of Nebajoth, to be his wife.
Esau went to
Ishmael and married Mahalath, the sister of Nebaioth and daughter of Abraham’s son
Ishmael, in addition to the wives he
already had.
And
Esau said, I have enough, my brother; keep that thou hast unto
thyself.
“I
already have
plenty, my brother,”
Esau replied. “Keep what belongs to you.”
And all the souls that came out of the loins of Jacob were seventy souls: for Joseph was in Egypt already.
The descendants of Jacob numbered seventy in all, including Joseph, who was already in Egypt.
For the stuff they had was sufficient for all the work to make it, and too much.
since what they already had was more than enough to perform all the work.
And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land: for they have heard that thou LORD art among this people, that thou LORD art seen face to face, and that thy cloud standeth over them, and that thou goest before them, by
daytime in a
pillar of a cloud, and in a
pillar of fire by night.
And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land. They have
already heard that You, O LORD, are in the midst of this people, that You, O LORD, have been seen face to face, that Your cloud stands over them, and that You go before them in a
pillar of cloud by day and a
pillar of fire by night.
This is the law, when a man dieth in a tent: all that come into the tent, and all that is in the tent, shall be unclean seven days.
This is the law when a person dies in a tent:
Everyone who enters the tent and
everyone already in the tent will be unclean for seven days,
And
Balaam said unto Balak, Spake I not also to thy messengers which thou sentest unto me, saying,
Balaam answered Balak, “Did I not
already tell the messengers you sent me
For the tribe of the children of
Reuben according to the house of their fathers, and the tribe of the children of
Gad according to the house of their fathers, have received their inheritance; and half the tribe of
Manasseh have received their inheritance:
For the tribes of the Reubenites and Gadites, along with the half-tribe of
Manasseh, have
already received their inheritance.
For I know thy rebellion, and thy stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, ye have been
rebellious against the LORD; and how much more after my death?
For I know how
rebellious and stiff-necked you are. If you are
already rebelling against the LORD while I am still alive, how much more will you
rebel after my death!
But the Levites have no part among you; for the priesthood of the LORD is their inheritance: and
Gad, and
Reuben, and half the tribe of
Manasseh, have received their inheritance beyond Jordan on the east, which Moses the servant of the LORD gave them.
The Levites, however, have no portion among you, because their inheritance is the priesthood of the LORD. And
Gad,
Reuben, and half the tribe of
Manasseh have
already received the inheritance that Moses the servant of the LORD gave them beyond the Jordan to the east.”
Behold, I have divided unto you by lot these nations that remain, to be an inheritance for your tribes, from Jordan, with all the nations that I have cut off, even unto the great sea westward.
See, I have
allotted as an inheritance to your tribes these remaining nations, including all the nations I have
already cut off, from the Jordan westward to the Great Sea.
And the princes of Succoth said, Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now in thine hand, that we should give bread unto thine army?
But the leaders of Succoth asked, “Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna already in your possession, that we should give bread to your army?”
Now Zebah and Zalmunna were in Karkor, and their hosts with them, about fifteen thousand men, all that were left of all the hosts of the children of the east: for there fell an hundred and twenty thousand men that drew sword.
Now Zebah and Zalmunna were in Karkor with their army of about fifteen thousand men—all that were left of the armies of the people of the east. A hundred and twenty thousand
swordsmen had
already fallen.
And he came unto the men of Succoth, and said, Behold Zebah and Zalmunna, with whom ye did
upbraid me, saying, Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now in thine hand, that we should give bread unto thy men that are
weary?
And
Gideon went to the men of Succoth and said, “Here are Zebah and Zalmunna, about whom you
taunted me, saying, ‘Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna
already in your possession, that we should give bread to your
weary men?’”
And she said unto him, There is no cause: this evil in sending me away is greater than the other that thou
didst unto me. But he would not
hearken unto her.
“No,” she replied, “sending me away is worse than this great wrong you have
already done to me!” But he refused to
listen to her.
Then spake
Elisha unto the woman, whose son he had restored to life, saying, Arise, and go thou and thine household, and
sojourn wheresoever thou canst
sojourn: for the LORD hath called for a famine; and it shall also come upon the land seven years.
Now
Elisha had said to the woman whose son he had restored to life, “Arise, you and your household; go and live as a foreigner wherever you can. For the LORD has decreed a seven-year famine, and it has
already come to the land.”
Then there came some that told
Jehoshaphat, saying, There cometh a great multitude against thee from beyond the sea on this side Syria; and, behold, they be Hazazon-tamar, which is En-gedi.
Then some men came and told
Jehoshaphat, “A vast army is coming against you from
Edom, from beyond the Sea; they are
already in Hazazon-tamar” (that is, En-gedi).
And said unto them, Ye shall not bring in the
captives hither: for whereas we have
offended against the LORD
already, ye intend to add more to our sins and to our
trespass: for our
trespass is great, and there is fierce wrath against Israel.
“You must not bring the
captives here,” they said, “for you are
proposing to bring guilt upon us from the LORD and to add to our sins and our guilt. For our guilt is great, and fierce anger is upon Israel.”
Yet now our flesh is as the flesh of our brethren, our children as their children: and, lo, we bring into
bondage our sons and our daughters to be servants, and some of our daughters are brought unto
bondage already: neither is it in our power to
redeem them; for other men have our lands and vineyards.
We and our children are just like our countrymen and their children, yet we are subjecting our sons and daughters to slavery. Some of our daughters are
already enslaved, but we are powerless to
redeem them because our fields and vineyards belong to others.”
And they took strong cities, and a fat land, and possessed houses full of all goods, wells
digged, vineyards, and oliveyards, and fruit trees in abundance: so they did eat, and were filled, and became fat, and delighted themselves in thy great goodness.
They captured fortified cities and fertile land and took houses full of all goods, wells
already dug, vineyards, olive groves, and fruit trees in abundance. So they
ate and were filled; they grew fat and delighted in Your great goodness.
If I be wicked, why then labour I in vain?
Since I am already found guilty, why should I labor in vain?
Knowest thou it, because thou
wast then born? or because the number of thy days is great?
Surely you know, for you were already born! And the number of your days is great!
Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to
morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee.
Do not tell your
neighbor, “Come back
tomorrow and I will provide”— when you
already have the means.
Is there any thing
whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been
already of old time, which was before us.
Is there a case where one can say, “Look, this is new”? It has already existed in the ages before us.
And I turned myself to behold wisdom, and madness, and folly: for what can the man do that cometh after the king? even that which hath been already done.
Then I turned to consider wisdom and madness and folly; for what more can the king’s successor do than what has already been accomplished?
That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past.
What exists has already been, and what will be has already been, for God will call to account what has passed.
Wherefore I praised the dead which are already dead more than the living which are yet alive.
So I
admired the dead, who had
already died, above the living, who are still alive.
That which hath been is named
already, and it is known that it is man: neither may he
contend with him that is mightier than he.
Whatever exists was named long ago, and what happens to a man is
foreknown; but he cannot
contend with one stronger than he.
Also their love, and their hatred, and their
envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.
Their love, their
hate, and their
envy have
already vanished, and they will never again have a share in all that is done under the sun.
Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a
merry heart; for God now accepteth thy works.
Go, eat your bread with joy, and drink your wine with a
cheerful heart, for God has
already approved your works:
What could have been done more to my
vineyard, that I have not done in it? wherefore, when I looked that it should bring forth grapes, brought it forth wild grapes?
What more could I have done for My
vineyard than I
already did for it? Why, when I expected sweet grapes, did it bring forth
sour fruit?
At the same time spake the LORD by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, Go and loose the
sackcloth from off thy loins, and put off thy
shoe from thy foot. And he did so, walking naked and
barefoot.
the LORD had
already spoken through Isaiah son of Amoz, saying, “Go, remove the
sackcloth from your
waist and the
sandals from your feet.” And Isaiah did so, walking around naked and
barefoot.
They are created now, and not from the beginning; even before the day when thou heardest them not; lest thou shouldest say, Behold, I knew them.
They are created now, and not long ago; you have not heard of them before
today. So you cannot claim, ‘I
already knew them!’
The Lord GOD which gathereth the outcasts of Israel saith, Yet will I gather others to him, beside those that are gathered unto him.
Thus declares the Lord GOD, who gathers the
dispersed of Israel: “I will gather to them still others besides those
already gathered.”
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against Pharaoh king of Egypt, and will break his arms, the strong, and that which was broken; and I will cause the sword to fall out of his hand.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: Behold, I am against Pharaoh king of Egypt. I will break his arms, both the strong one and the one already broken, and will make the sword fall from his hand.
If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the LORD of hosts, I will even send a
curse upon you, and I will
curse your blessings:
yea, I have
cursed them
already, because ye do not lay it to heart.
If you do not
listen, and if you do not take it to heart to honor My name,” says the LORD of Hosts, “I will send a
curse among you, and I will
curse your blessings.
Yes, I have
already begun to
curse them, because you are not taking it to heart.
But I say unto you, That
whosoever looketh on a woman to
lust after her hath committed
adultery with her
already in his heart.
But I tell you that
anyone who looks at a woman to
lust after her has
already committed
adultery with her in his heart.
Therefore when thou doest thine
alms, do not sound a
trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men.
Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
So when you give to the
needy, do not sound a
trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. Truly I tell you, they
already have their full reward.
And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men.
Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. Truly I tell you, they already have their full reward.
Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a
sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast.
Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
When you fast, do not be
somber like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces to show men they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they
already have their full reward.
And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and
buy themselves
victuals.
When evening came, the disciples came to Him and said, “This is a
desolate place, and the hour is
already late. Dismiss the crowds so they can go to the villages and
buy themselves some food.”
But the ship was now in the midst of the sea,
tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary.
but the boat was
already far from land,
buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it.
Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have
compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they
faint in the way.
Then Jesus called His disciples to Him and said, “I have
compassion for this crowd, because they have
already been with Me three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away
hungry, or they may
faint along the way.”
But I say unto you, That Elias is come
already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him
whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them.
But I tell you that
Elijah has
already come, and they did not recognize him, but have done to him whatever they wished. In the same way, the Son of Man will suffer at their hands.”
And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.
After they had dismissed the crowd, they took Jesus with them, since He was already in the boat. And there were other boats with Him.
For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.
For Jesus had already declared, “Come out of this man, you unclean spirit!”
And when the day was now far spent, his disciples came unto him, and said, This is a desert place, and now the time is far passed:
By now the hour was
already late. So the disciples came to Jesus and said, “This is a
desolate place, and the hour is
already late.
I have
compassion on the multitude, because they have now been with me three days, and have nothing to eat:
“I have
compassion for this crowd, because they have
already been with Me three days and have nothing to eat.
And Jesus entered into Jerusalem, and into the temple: and when he had looked round about upon all things, and now the
eventide was come, he went out unto
Bethany with the twelve.
Then Jesus entered Jerusalem and went into the temple courts. He looked around at everything, but since it was
already late, He went out to
Bethany with the Twelve.
And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath,
Now it was already evening. Since it was Preparation Day (that is, the day before the Sabbath),
And
Pilate marvelled if he were
already dead: and calling unto him the
centurion, he asked him whether he had been any while dead.
Pilate was surprised to hear that Jesus was
already dead, so he summoned the
centurion to ask if this was so.
But
woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your
consolation.
But
woe to you who are rich, for you have
already received your comfort.
And he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee.
And suppose the one inside answers, ‘Do not bother me. My door is already shut, and my children and I are in bed. I cannot get up to give you anything.’
I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I if it be
already kindled?
I have come to
ignite a fire on the earth, and how I wish it were
already kindled!
(And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds.)
‘Master,’ they said, ‘he already has ten!’
And he shall
shew you a large upper room furnished: there make ready.
And he will show you a large upper room, already furnished. Make preparations there.”
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned
already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only
begotten Son of God.
Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but
whoever does not believe has
already been condemned, because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.
Do you not say, ‘There are still four months until the harvest’? I tell you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are ripe for harvest.
And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may
rejoice together.
Already the
reaper draws his wages and gathers a crop for eternal life, so that the
sower and the
reaper may
rejoice together.
And entered into a ship, and went over the sea toward
Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to them.
got into a boat, and started across the sea to
Capernaum. It was
already dark, and Jesus had not yet gone out to them.
These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed
already, that if any man did
confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the
synagogue.
His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jews. For the Jews had
already determined that
anyone who
confessed Jesus as the Christ would be put out of the
synagogue.
He answered them, I have told you already, and ye did not hear: wherefore would ye hear it again? will ye also be his disciples?
He replied, “I
already told you, and you did not
listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you also want to become His disciples?”
And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee.
“You have already seen Him,” Jesus answered. “He is the One speaking with you.”
Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father’s name, they bear witness of me.
“I
already told you,” Jesus replied, “but you did not believe. The works I do in My Father’s name
testify on My behalf.
Then when Jesus came, he found that he had
lain in the grave four days
already.
When Jesus arrived, He found that
Lazarus had
already spent four days in the tomb.
Jesus said, Take ye away the stone.
Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.
“Take away the stone,” Jesus said. “Lord, by now he stinks,” said
Martha, the sister of the dead man. “It has
already been four days.”
The evening meal was underway, and the devil had
already put into the heart of
Judas, the son of Simon
Iscariot, to
betray Jesus.
Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every
whit: and ye are clean, but not all.
Jesus told him, “
Whoever has
already bathed needs only to wash his feet, and he will be completely clean. And you are clean, though not all of you.”
Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.
Behold, the hour cometh,
yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
“Look, an hour is coming and has already come when you will be scattered, each to his own home, and you will leave Me all alone. Yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me.
But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead
already, they
brake not his legs:
But when they came to Jesus and saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs.
And, behold, immediately there were three men already come unto the house where I was, sent from Caesarea unto me.
Just then three men sent to me from Caesarea stopped at the house where I was staying.
Now when much time was spent, and when sailing was now dangerous, because the fast was now
already past, Paul
admonished them,
By now much time had passed, and the voyage had
already become dangerous because it was after the Fast. So Paul
advised them,
What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;
What then? Are we any better? Not at all. For we have already made the charge that Jews and Greeks alike are all under sin.
For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man
seeth, why
doth he yet hope for?
For in this hope we were saved; but hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he can already see?
For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
For no one can lay a foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.
Now ye are full, now ye are rich, ye have reigned as kings without us: and I would to God ye did reign, that we also might reign with you.
Already you have all you want. Already you have become rich. Without us, you have become kings. How I wish you really were kings, so that we might be kings with you!
For I
verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged
already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed,
Although I am absent from you in body, I am present with you in spirit, and I have already pronounced judgment on the one who did this, just as if I were present.
Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer
yourselves to be
defrauded?
The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means that you are thoroughly defeated
already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be
cheated?
As also ye have acknowledged us in part, that we are your
rejoicing, even as ye also are ours in the day of the Lord Jesus.
as you have
already understood us in part, so that you may
boast of us just as we will
boast of you in the day of our Lord Jesus.
To
preach the gospel in the regions beyond you, and not to
boast in another man’s line of things made ready to our hand.
so that we can
preach the gospel in the regions beyond you. Then we will not be
boasting in the work
already done in another man’s territory.
Would to God ye could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed bear with me.
I hope you will bear with a little of my
foolishness, but you are
already doing that.
I am afraid that when I come again, my God will humble me before you, and I will be
grieved over many who have
sinned earlier and have not
repented of their acts of impurity, sexual immorality, and
debauchery.
I told you before, and
foretell you, as if I were present, the second time; and being absent now I write to them which
heretofore have
sinned, and to all other, that, if I come again, I will not
spare:
And I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel which I
preach among the Gentiles, but privately to them which were of reputation, lest by any means I should run, or had run, in vain.
I went in
response to a revelation and set before them the gospel that I
preach among the Gentiles. But I spoke privately to those recognized as leaders, for fear that I was running or had
already run in vain.
For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a
transgressor.
If I rebuild what I have
already torn down, I prove myself to be a
lawbreaker.
How that by revelation he made known unto me the
mystery; (as I wrote
afore in few words,
that is, the
mystery made known to me by revelation, as I have
already written briefly.
Not as though I had
already attained, either were
already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may
apprehend that for which also I am
apprehended of Christ Jesus.
Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.
Nevertheless,
whereto we have
already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.
Nevertheless, we must live up to what we have already attained.
For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven,
whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;
the faith and love proceeding from the hope stored up for you in heaven, of which you have already heard in the word of truth, the gospel
Aristarchus my fellowprisoner saluteth you, and
Marcus, sister’s son to
Barnabas, (touching whom ye received commandments: if he come unto you, receive him;)
My fellow prisoner
Aristarchus sends you greetings, as does Mark the cousin of
Barnabas. You have
already received instructions about him: If he comes to you,
welcome him.
As you are aware, we had
already endured suffering and shameful treatment in
Philippi. But in the face of strong opposition, we were bold in our God to speak to you the gospel of God.
Furthermore then we
beseech you, brethren, and
exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.
Finally, brothers, we ask and
encourage you in the Lord Jesus to live in a way that is pleasing to God, just as you have received from us. This is how you
already live, so you should do so all the more.
and no one should ever
violate or
exploit his brother in this regard, because the Lord will
avenge all such acts, as we have
already told you and solemnly
warned you.
Wherefore comfort
yourselves together, and
edify one another, even as also ye do.
Therefore
encourage and build one another up, just as you are
already doing.
That ye be not soon
shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
not to be easily
disconcerted or
alarmed by any spirit or message or letter seeming to be from us,
alleging that the Day of the Lord has
already come.
For the
mystery of iniquity
doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
For the
mystery of
lawlessness is
already at work, but the one who now restrains it will continue until he is taken out of the way.
