Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land.
Come, let us deal
shrewdly with them, or they will increase even more; and if a war breaks out, they may join our enemies, fight against us, and leave the country.”
And the
midwives said unto Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women; for they are lively, and are delivered
ere the
midwives come in unto them.
The
midwives answered Pharaoh, “The Hebrew women are not like the Egyptian women, for they are vigorous and give birth before a
midwife arrives.”
And when they came to Reuel their father, he said, How is it that ye are come so soon to day?
When the daughters returned to their father Reuel, he asked them, “Why have you returned so early
today?”
And he said, Draw not
nigh hither: put off thy
shoes from off thy feet, for the place
whereon thou standest is holy ground.
“Do not
come any closer,” God said. “Take off your
sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.”
And I am
come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the
Canaanites, and the
Hittites, and the
Amorites, and the
Perizzites, and the
Hivites, and the Jebusites.
Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is
come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression
wherewith the Egyptians
oppress them.
And now the cry of the Israelites has reached Me, and I have seen how severely the Egyptians are
oppressing them.
Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt.
Therefore, go! I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring My people the Israelites out of Egypt.”
And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them?
Then Moses asked God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is His name?’ What should I tell them?”
And they shall
hearken to thy voice: and thou shalt
come, thou and the elders of Israel, unto the king of Egypt, and ye shall say unto him, The LORD God of the Hebrews hath met with us: and now let us go, we
beseech thee, three days’ journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to the LORD our God.
The elders of Israel will
listen to what you say, and you must go with them to the king of Egypt and tell him, ‘The LORD, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us. Now please let us take a three-day journey into the wilderness, so that we may sacrifice to the LORD our God.’
And I will give this people favour in the sight of the Egyptians: and it shall come to pass, that, when ye go, ye shall not go empty:
And I will grant this people such favor in the sight of the Egyptians that when you leave, you will not go away empty-handed.
And it shall
come to pass, if they will not believe thee, neither
hearken to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign.
And the LORD said, “If they refuse to believe you or
heed the witness of the first sign, they may believe that of the second.
And it shall
come to pass, if they will not believe also these two signs, neither
hearken unto thy voice, that thou shalt take of the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land: and the water which thou takest out of the river shall become blood upon the dry land.
But if they do not believe even these two signs or
listen to your voice, take some water from the Nile and pour it on the dry ground. Then the water you take from the Nile will become blood on the ground.”
And the anger of the LORD was
kindled against Moses, and he said, Is not Aaron the
Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he
cometh forth to meet thee: and when he
seeth thee, he will be
glad in his heart.
Then the anger of the LORD burned against Moses, and He said, “Is not Aaron the
Levite your brother? I know that he can speak well, and he is now on his way to meet you. When he sees you, he will be
glad in his heart.
Get thee unto Pharaoh in the morning; lo, he goeth out unto the water; and thou shalt stand by the river’s
brink against he
come; and the rod which was turned to a serpent shalt thou take in thine hand.
Go to Pharaoh in the morning as you see him walking out to the water. Wait on the bank of the Nile to meet him, and take in your hand the staff that was changed into a
snake.
And the river shall bring forth frogs abundantly, which shall go up and
come into thine house, and into thy
bedchamber, and upon thy bed, and into the house of thy servants, and upon thy people, and into thine ovens, and into thy kneadingtroughs:
The Nile will
teem with frogs, and they will
come into your palace and up to your
bedroom and
onto your bed, into the houses of your officials and your people, and into your ovens and
kneading bowls.
And the frogs shall come up both on thee, and upon thy people, and upon all thy servants.
The frogs will come up on you and your people and all your officials.’”
And the LORD spake unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Stretch forth thine hand with thy rod over the streams, over the rivers, and over the ponds, and cause frogs to come up upon the land of Egypt.
And the LORD said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Stretch out your hand with your staff over the rivers and canals and ponds, and cause the frogs to
come up
onto the land of Egypt.’”
And the LORD said unto Moses, Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh; lo, he cometh forth to the water; and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Let my people go, that they may serve me.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Get up early in the morning, and when Pharaoh goes out to the water, stand before him and tell him that this is what the LORD says: ‘Let My people go, so that they may worship Me.
Send therefore now, and gather thy cattle, and all that thou hast in the field; for upon every man and beast which shall be found in the field, and shall not be brought home, the
hail shall
come down upon them, and they shall die.
So give orders now to shelter your
livestock and everything you have in the field. Every man or beast that remains in the field and is not brought inside will die when the
hail comes down upon them.’”
And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the land of Egypt for the locusts, that they may
come up upon the land of Egypt, and eat every
herb of the land, even all that the
hail hath left.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the land of Egypt, so that the locusts may
swarm over it and
devour every plant in the land—everything that the
hail has left behind.”
Our cattle also shall go with us; there shall not an
hoof be left behind; for thereof must we take to serve the LORD our God; and we know not with what we must serve the LORD, until we
come thither.
Even our
livestock must go with us; not a
hoof will be left behind, for we will need some of them to worship the LORD our God, and we will not know how we are to worship the LORD until we arrive.”
And all these thy servants shall come down unto me, and bow down themselves unto me, saying, Get thee out, and all the people that follow thee: and after that I will go out. And he went out from Pharaoh in a great anger.
And all these officials of yours will come and bow before me, saying, ‘Go, you and all the people who follow you!’ After that, I will depart.” And hot with anger, Moses left Pharaoh’s presence.
And this day shall be unto you for a
memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an
ordinance for ever.
And this day will be a
memorial for you, and you are to
celebrate it as a feast to the LORD, as a permanent statute for the generations to
come.
And ye shall observe the feast of
unleavened bread; for in this
selfsame day have I brought your armies out of the land of Egypt: therefore shall ye observe this day in your generations by an
ordinance for ever.
So you are to keep the Feast of
Unleavened Bread, for on this very day I brought your divisions out of the land of Egypt. You must keep this day as a permanent statute for the generations to
come.
For the LORD will pass through to
smite the Egyptians; and when he
seeth the blood upon the
lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to
come in unto your houses to
smite you.
When the LORD passes through to strike down the Egyptians, He will see the blood on the top and sides of the doorframe and will pass over that
doorway; so He will not allow the destroyer to enter your houses and strike you down.
And it shall come to pass, when ye be come to the land which the LORD will give you, according as he hath promised, that ye shall keep this service.
When you enter the land that the LORD will give you as He promised, you are to keep this service.
And it shall come to pass, when your children shall say unto you, What mean ye by this service?
When your children ask you, ‘What does this service mean to you?’
It is a night to be much observed unto the LORD for bringing them out from the land of Egypt: this is that night of the LORD to be observed of all the children of Israel in their generations.
Because the LORD kept a
vigil that night to bring them out of the land of Egypt, this same night is to be a
vigil to the LORD, to be observed by all the Israelites for the generations to
come.
And when a stranger shall
sojourn with thee, and will keep the
passover to the LORD, let all his males be
circumcised, and then let him
come near and keep it; and he shall be as one that is born in the land: for no
uncircumcised person shall eat thereof.
That thou shalt set apart unto the LORD all that openeth the
matrix, and every
firstling that
cometh of a beast which thou hast; the males shall be the LORD’S.
And it shall be when thy son asketh thee in time to
come, saying, What is this? that thou shalt say unto him, By strength of hand the LORD brought us out from Egypt, from the house of
bondage:
In the future, when your son asks you, ‘What does this mean?’ you are to tell him, ‘With a mighty hand the LORD brought us out of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may
come again upon the Egyptians, upon their
chariots, and upon their
horsemen.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea, so that the waters may flow back over the Egyptians and their
chariots and
horsemen.”
And it shall come to pass, that on the sixth day they shall prepare that which they bring in; and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily.
Then on the sixth day, when they prepare what they bring in, it will be twice as much as they gather on the other days.”
And Moses spake unto Aaron, Say unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, Come near before the LORD: for he hath heard your murmurings.
Then Moses said to Aaron, “Tell the whole congregation of Israel, ‘
Come before the LORD, for He has heard your
grumbling.’”
And Moses said, This is the thing which the LORD commandeth, Fill an
omer of it to be kept for your generations; that they may see the bread
wherewith I have fed you in the wilderness, when I brought you forth from the land of Egypt.
Moses said, “This is what the LORD has commanded: ‘Keep an
omer of
manna for the generations to
come, so that they may see the bread I fed you in the wilderness when I brought you out of the land of Egypt.’”
And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a pot, and put an
omer full of
manna therein, and lay it up before the LORD, to be kept for your generations.
So Moses told Aaron, “Take a
jar and fill it with an
omer of
manna. Then place it before the LORD to be preserved for the generations to
come.”
Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in
Horeb; and thou shalt
smite the rock, and there shall
come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.
Behold, I will stand there before you by the rock at
Horeb. And when you strike the rock, water will
come out of it for the people to drink.” So Moses did this in the sight of the elders of Israel.
And he said unto Moses, I thy father in law Jethro am come unto thee, and thy wife, and her two sons with her.
He sent word to Moses, “I, your father-in-law Jethro, am coming to you with your wife and her two sons.”
And Moses told his father in law all that the LORD had done unto Pharaoh and to the Egyptians for Israel’s sake, and all the
travail that had
come upon them by the way, and how the LORD delivered them.
Then Moses recounted to his father-in-law all that the LORD had done to Pharaoh and the Egyptians for Israel’s sake, all the hardships they had
encountered along the way, and how the LORD had delivered them.
And Moses said unto his father in law, Because the people
come unto me to
enquire of God:
“Because the people come to me to inquire of God,” Moses replied.
When they have a matter, they come unto me; and I judge between one and another, and I do make them know the statutes of God, and his laws.
“Whenever they have a dispute, it is brought to me to judge between one man and another, and I make known to them the statutes and laws of God.”
For they were departed from
Rephidim, and were
come to the desert of
Sinai, and had pitched in the wilderness; and there Israel camped before the mount.
After they had set out from
Rephidim, they entered the Wilderness of
Sinai, and Israel camped there in front of the mountain.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Lo, I come unto thee in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with thee, and believe thee for ever. And Moses told the words of the people unto the LORD.
The LORD said to Moses, “Behold, I will come to you in a dense cloud, so that the people will hear when I speak with you, and they will always put their trust in you.” And Moses relayed to the LORD what the people had said.
And be ready against the third day: for the third day the LORD will
come down in the sight of all the people upon mount
Sinai.
and be prepared by the third day, for on the third day the LORD will
come down on Mount
Sinai in the sight of all the people.
There shall not an hand touch it, but he shall surely be stoned, or shot through; whether it be beast or man, it shall not live: when the
trumpet soundeth long, they shall
come up to the mount.
No hand shall touch him, but he shall surely be stoned or shot with arrows—whether man or beast, he must not live.’ Only when the ram’s horn sounds a long blast may they approach the mountain.”
And he said unto the people, Be ready against the third day: come not at your wives.
“Be prepared for the third day,” he said to the people. “Do not draw near to a woman.”
And let the priests also, which
come near to the LORD,
sanctify themselves, lest the LORD break forth upon them.
Even the priests who approach the LORD must
consecrate themselves, or the LORD will break out against them.”
And Moses said unto the LORD, The people cannot
come up to mount
Sinai: for thou chargedst us, saying, Set bounds about the mount, and
sanctify it.
But Moses said to the LORD, “The people cannot
come up Mount
Sinai, for You solemnly
warned us, ‘Put a boundary around the mountain and set it apart as holy.’”
And the LORD said unto him, Away, get thee down, and thou shalt come up, thou, and Aaron with thee: but let not the priests and the people break through to come up unto the LORD, lest he break forth upon them.
And the LORD replied, “Go down and bring Aaron with you. But the priests and the people must not break through to come up to the LORD, or He will break out against them.”
And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not.
“Do not be afraid,” Moses replied. “For God has
come to test you, so that the fear of Him may be before you, to keep you from
sinning.”
An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice
thereon thy burnt offerings, and thy peace offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in all places where I record my name I will
come unto thee, and I will
bless thee.
You are to make for Me an altar of earth, and sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and peace offerings, your sheep and goats and cattle. In every place where I cause My name to be remembered, I will
come to you and
bless you.
But if a man
come presumptuously upon his neighbour, to
slay him with
guile; thou shalt take him from mine altar, that he may die.
But if a man schemes and acts
willfully against his
neighbor to kill him, you must take him away from My altar to be put to death.
For all manner of
trespass, whether it be for ox, for
ass, for sheep, for
raiment, or for any manner of lost thing, which another challengeth to be his, the cause of both parties shall
come before the judges; and whom the judges shall
condemn, he shall pay double unto his neighbour.
In all cases of
illegal possession of an ox, a
donkey, a sheep, a garment, or any lost
item that someone claims, ‘This is mine,’ both parties shall bring their cases before the judges. The one whom the judges find guilty must pay back double to his
neighbor.
For that is his covering only, it is his
raiment for his skin: wherein shall he sleep? and it shall
come to pass, when he crieth unto me, that I will hear; for I am
gracious.
because his
cloak is the only covering he has for his body. What else will he sleep in? And if he
cries out to Me, I will hear, for I am
compassionate.
I will send my fear before thee, and will destroy all the people to whom thou shalt come, and I will make all thine enemies turn their backs unto thee.
I will send My terror
ahead of you and throw into confusion every nation you
encounter. I will make all your enemies turn and run.
And he said unto Moses,
Come up unto the LORD, thou, and Aaron,
Nadab, and
Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel; and worship ye
afar off.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “
Come up to the LORD—you and Aaron,
Nadab and
Abihu, and seventy of Israel’s elders—and you are to worship at a distance.
And Moses alone shall
come near the LORD: but they shall not
come nigh; neither shall the people go up with him.
Moses alone shall approach the LORD, but the others must not come near. And the people may not go up with him.”
And the LORD said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Come up to Me on the mountain and stay here, so that I may give you the tablets of stone, with the law and commandments I have written for their instruction.”
And he said unto the elders,
Tarry ye here for us, until we
come again unto you: and, behold, Aaron and Hur are with you: if any man have any matters to do, let him
come unto them.
And he said to the elders, “Wait here for us until we return to you. Aaron and Hur are here with you.
Whoever has a dispute can go to them.”
And six branches shall
come out of the sides of it; three branches of the
candlestick out of the one side, and three branches of the
candlestick out of the other side:
Six branches are to extend from the sides of the lampstand—three on one side and three on the other.
Three
bowls made like unto almonds, with a
knop and a flower in one branch; and three
bowls made like almonds in the other branch, with a
knop and a flower: so in the six branches that
come out of the
candlestick.
There are to be three cups shaped like
almond blossoms on the first branch, each with buds and petals, three on the next branch, and the same for all six branches that extend from the lampstand.
And thou shalt put it under the compass of the altar beneath, that the net may be even to the midst of the altar.
In the tabernacle of the congregation without the
vail, which is before the testimony, Aaron and his sons shall order it from evening to morning before the LORD: it shall be a statute for ever unto their generations on the behalf of the children of Israel.
In the Tent of Meeting, outside the
veil that is in front of the Testimony, Aaron and his sons are to tend the lamps before the LORD from evening until morning. This is to be a permanent statute for the Israelites for the generations to
come.
And thou shalt put in the
breastplate of judgment the
Urim and the
Thummim; and they shall be upon Aaron’s heart, when he goeth in before the LORD: and Aaron shall bear the judgment of the children of Israel upon his heart before the LORD continually.
And place the
Urim and
Thummim in the breastpiece of judgment, so that they will also be over Aaron’s heart whenever he
comes before the LORD. Aaron will continually carry the judgment of the sons of Israel over his heart before the LORD.
And it shall be upon Aaron to minister: and his sound shall be heard when he goeth in unto the holy place before the LORD, and when he cometh out, that he die not.
Aaron must wear the
robe whenever he ministers, and its sound will be heard when he enters or exits the sanctuary before the LORD, so that he will not die.
And they shall be upon Aaron, and upon his sons, when they come in unto the tabernacle of the congregation, or when they come near unto the altar to minister in the holy place; that they bear not iniquity, and die: it shall be a statute for ever unto him and his seed after him.
Aaron and his sons must wear them whenever they enter the Tent of Meeting or approach the altar to minister in the Holy Place, so that they will not
incur guilt and die. This is to be a permanent statute for Aaron and his descendants.
And that son that is priest in his
stead shall put them on seven days, when he
cometh into the tabernacle of the congregation to minister in the holy place.
The son who succeeds him as priest and enters the Tent of Meeting to minister in the Holy Place must wear them for seven days.
This shall be a continual burnt offering throughout your generations at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the LORD: where I will meet you, to speak there unto thee.
For the generations to come, this burnt offering shall be made regularly at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting before the LORD, where I will meet you to speak with you.
And when Aaron lighteth the lamps at even, he shall burn incense upon it, a perpetual incense before the LORD throughout your generations.
When Aaron sets up the lamps at
twilight, he must burn the incense perpetually before the LORD for the generations to
come.
When thou takest the sum of the children of Israel after their number, then shall they give every man a
ransom for his soul unto the LORD, when thou numberest them; that there be no plague among them, when thou numberest them.
“When you take a census of the Israelites to number them, each man must pay the LORD a
ransom for his life when he is counted. Then no plague will
come upon them when they are numbered.
When they go into the tabernacle of the congregation, they shall wash with water, that they die not; or when they come near to the altar to minister, to burn offering made by fire unto the LORD:
Whenever they enter the Tent of Meeting or approach the altar to minister by presenting an offering made by fire to the LORD, they must wash with water so that they will not die.
So they shall wash their hands and their feet, that they die not: and it shall be a statute for ever to them, even to him and to his seed throughout their generations.
Thus they are to wash their hands and feet so that they will not die; this shall be a permanent statute for Aaron and his descendants for the generations to come.”
And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, This shall be an holy
anointing oil unto me throughout your generations.
And you are to tell the Israelites, ‘This will be My sacred
anointing oil for the generations to
come.
Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying,
Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the LORD that
doth sanctify you.
“Tell the Israelites, ‘Surely you must keep My Sabbaths, for this will be a sign between Me and you for the generations to come, so that you may know that I am the LORD who sanctifies you.
Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant.
The Israelites must keep the Sabbath,
celebrating it as a permanent covenant for the generations to
come.
And when the people saw that Moses delayed to
come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we
wot not what is become of him.
Now when the people saw that Moses was delayed in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said, “Come, make us gods who will go before us. As for this Moses who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has happened to him!”
Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD’S side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.
So Moses stood at the entrance to the camp and said, “
Whoever is for the LORD,
come to me.” And all the Levites gathered around him.
For the LORD had said unto Moses, Say unto the children of Israel, Ye are a stiffnecked people: I will
come up into the midst of thee in a moment, and
consume thee: therefore now put off thy ornaments from thee, that I may know what to do unto thee.
For the LORD had said to Moses, “Tell the Israelites, ‘You are a stiff-necked people. If I should go with you for a single moment, I would destroy you. Now take off your
jewelry, and I will decide what to do with you.’”
And it came to pass, as Moses entered into the tabernacle, the
cloudy pillar descended, and stood at the door of the tabernacle, and the LORD talked with Moses.
As Moses entered the tent, the
pillar of cloud would
come down and remain at the entrance, and the LORD would speak with Moses.
And it shall
come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a
clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by:
and when My glory passes by, I will put you in a
cleft of the rock and cover you with My hand until I have passed by.
And be ready in the morning, and
come up in the morning unto mount
Sinai, and present
thyself there to me in the top of the mount.
Be ready in the morning, and
come up on Mount
Sinai to present
yourself before Me on the mountaintop.
And no man shall come up with thee, neither let any man be seen throughout all the mount; neither let the flocks nor herds feed before that mount.
No one may go up with you; in fact, no one may be seen
anywhere on the mountain—not even the flocks or herds may
graze in front of the mountain.”
And when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face
shone; and they were afraid to
come nigh him.
Aaron and all the Israelites looked at Moses, and behold, his face was
radiant. And they were afraid to approach him.
And every wise hearted among you shall come, and make all that the LORD hath commanded;
Let every skilled
craftsman among you
come and make everything that the LORD has commanded:
And Moses called Bezaleel and Aholiab, and every wise hearted man, in whose heart the LORD had put wisdom, even every one whose heart
stirred him up to
come unto the work to do it:
Then Moses summoned Bezalel, Oholiab, and every skilled person whom the LORD had gifted—
everyone whose heart
stirred him to
come and do the work.
It shall be a perpetual statute for your generations throughout all your dwellings, that ye eat neither fat nor blood.
This is a permanent statute for the generations to come, wherever you live: You must not eat any fat or any blood.”
Or if his sin, wherein he hath
sinned,
come to his knowledge; he shall bring his offering, a
kid of the goats, a male without
blemish:
When he becomes aware of the sin he has committed, he must bring an
unblemished male goat as his offering.
Or if his sin, which he hath
sinned,
come to his knowledge: then he shall bring his offering, a
kid of the goats, a female without
blemish, for his sin which he hath
sinned.
When he becomes aware of the sin he has committed, he must bring an
unblemished female goat as his offering for that sin.
All the males among the children of Aaron shall eat of it. It shall be a statute for ever in your generations concerning the offerings of the LORD made by fire: every one that toucheth them shall be holy.
Any male among the sons of Aaron may eat it. This is a permanent portion from the offerings made by fire to the LORD for the generations to come. Anything that touches them will become holy.”
Which the LORD commanded to be given them of the children of Israel, in the day that he
anointed them, by a statute for ever throughout their generations.
On the day they were
anointed, the LORD commanded that this be given them by the sons of Israel. It is a permanent portion for the generations to
come.
Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the LORD spake, saying, I will be
sanctified in them that
come nigh me, and before all the people I will be
glorified. And Aaron held his peace.
Then Moses said to Aaron, “This is what the LORD meant when He said: ‘To those who
come near Me I will show My
holiness, and in the sight of all the people I will
reveal My glory.’” But Aaron remained silent.
And Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said unto them, Come near, carry your brethren from before the sanctuary out of the camp.
Moses summoned Mishael and Elzaphan, sons of Aaron’s uncle Uzziel, and said to them, “Come here; carry the bodies of your cousins outside the camp, away from the front of the sanctuary.”
And Moses said unto Aaron, and unto
Eleazar and unto
Ithamar, his sons, Uncover not your heads, neither
rend your clothes; lest ye die, and lest wrath
come upon all the people: but let your brethren, the whole house of Israel,
bewail the burning which the LORD hath
kindled.
Then Moses said to Aaron and his sons
Eleazar and
Ithamar, “Do not let your hair become
disheveled and do not
tear your garments, or else you will die, and the LORD will be
angry with the whole congregation. But your brothers, the whole house of Israel, may
mourn on account of the fire that the LORD has
ignited.
Do not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with thee, when ye go into the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations:
“You and your sons are not to drink wine or strong drink when you enter the Tent of Meeting, or else you will die; this is a permanent statute for the generations to come.
Of all meat which may be eaten, that on which such water
cometh shall be unclean: and all drink that may be
drunk in every such vessel shall be unclean.
Any food coming into contact with water from that pot will be unclean, and any drink in such a container will be unclean.
And she shall then continue in the blood of her
purifying three and thirty days; she shall touch no
