counselors.

hasten his work, that we may see it: and let the

counsel together, and it shall come to
nought; speak the word, and it shall not stand: for God is with us.

counsel,

counsel of the wise
counsellors of Pharaoh is become

counsel and strength for war: now on whom

Who hath directed the Spirit of the LORD, or being his counsellor hath taught him?
Who has directed the Spirit of the LORD, or informed Him as His
counselor?
With whom took he
counsel, and who
instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding?
Whom did He
consult to
enlighten Him, and who taught Him the paths of justice? Who imparted knowledge to Him and showed Him the way of understanding?

counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.
Speak up and present your case—

counsel together. Who

ravenous bird from the east, the man that executeth my
counsel from a far country:

summon a bird of prey from the east, a man for My purpose from a far-off land. Truly I have spoken, and truly I will bring it to pass. I have
planned it, and I will surely do it.
Thou art
wearied in the multitude of thy
counsels. Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee from these things that shall come upon thee.

wearied by your many
counselors; let them come forward now and save you— your astrologers who observe the stars, who monthly
predict your fate.
But they
hearkened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked in the
counsels and in the imagination of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward.

listen or
incline their ear, but they followed the

Then said they, Come, and let us
devise devices against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor
counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us
smite him with the tongue, and let us not give
heed to any of his words.
Then some said, “Come, let us make plans against Jeremiah, for the law will never be lost to the priest, nor
counsel to the wise, nor an
oracle to the prophet. Come, let us
denounce him and pay no
heed to any of his words.”
Yet, LORD, thou knowest all their
counsel against me to
slay me:
forgive not their iniquity, neither
blot out their sin from thy sight, but let them be overthrown before thee; deal thus with them in the time of thine anger.
But You, O LORD, know all their deadly plots against me. Do not
wipe out their guilt or
blot out their sin from Your sight. Let them be overthrown before You; deal with them in the time of Your anger.
And I will make void the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem in this place; and I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies, and by the hands of them that seek their lives: and their carcases will I give to be meat for the fowls of the heaven, and for the beasts of the earth.
And in this place I will ruin the plans of Judah and Jerusalem. I will make them fall by the sword before their enemies, by the hands of those who seek their lives, and I will give their
carcasses as food to the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth.
For who hath stood in the counsel of the LORD, and hath perceived and heard his word? who hath marked his word, and heard it?
But which of them has stood in the council of the LORD to see and hear His word? Who has given
heed to His word and obeyed it?
But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings.
But if they had stood in My council, they would have proclaimed My words to My people and turned them back from their evil ways and deeds.”
Great in counsel, and mighty in work: for thine eyes are open upon all the ways of the sons of men: to give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings:

Zedekiah, If I declare it unto thee,
wilt thou not surely put me to death? and if I give thee
counsel,
wilt thou not
hearken unto me?

listen to me.”
Concerning
Edom, thus saith the LORD of hosts; Is wisdom no more in Teman? is
counsel perished from the
prudent? is their wisdom
vanished?
Concerning
Edom, this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Is there no longer wisdom in Teman? Has
counsel perished from the
prudent? Has their wisdom decayed?
Therefore hear the
counsel of the LORD, that he hath taken against
Edom; and his purposes, that he hath purposed against the inhabitants of Teman: Surely the least of the flock shall draw them out: surely he shall make their habitations
desolate with them.
Therefore hear the plans that the LORD has drawn up against
Edom and the strategies He has devised against the people of Teman: Surely the little ones of the flock will be
dragged away; certainly their pasture will be made
desolate because of them.
Flee, get you far off, dwell deep, O ye inhabitants of Hazor, saith the LORD; for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath taken
counsel against you, and hath conceived a purpose against you.
Run! Escape quickly! Lie low, O residents of Hazor,” declares the LORD, “for
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has drawn up a plan against you; he has devised a
strategy against you.
Therefore hear ye the
counsel of the LORD, that he hath taken against Babylon; and his purposes, that he hath purposed against the land of the Chaldeans: Surely the least of the flock shall draw them out: surely he shall make their
habitation desolate with them.
Therefore hear the plans that the LORD has drawn up against Babylon and the strategies He has devised against the land of the Chaldeans: Surely the little ones of the flock will be
dragged away; certainly their pasture will be made
desolate because of them.
Mischief shall come upon mischief, and rumour shall be upon rumour; then shall they seek a vision of the prophet; but the law shall perish from the priest, and counsel from the ancients.
Disaster upon
disaster will come, and
rumor after
rumor. Then they will seek a vision from a prophet, but instruction from the priests will perish, as will
counsel from the elders.
Then said he unto me, Son of man, these are the men that
devise mischief, and give wicked
counsel in this city:
And the LORD said to me, “Son of man, these are the men who plot evil and give wicked counsel in this city.

counsel and wisdom to Arioch the captain of the king’s guard, which was gone forth to

discretion and
tact.
Then
Nebuchadnezzar the king sent to gather together the princes, the governors, and the captains, the judges, the treasurers, the
counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, to come to the
dedication of the image which
Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.
Then King
Nebuchadnezzar sent word to
assemble the satraps, prefects, governors, advisers, treasurers, judges, magistrates, and all the other officials of the provinces to attend the
dedication of the statue he had set up.
Then the princes, the governors, and captains, the judges, the treasurers, the
counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, were gathered together unto the
dedication of the image that
Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up; and they stood before the image that
Nebuchadnezzar had set up.
So the satraps, prefects, governors, advisers, treasurers, judges, magistrates, and all the rulers of the provinces assembled for the
dedication of the statue that King
Nebuchadnezzar had set up, and they stood before it.
Then
Nebuchadnezzar the king was
astonied, and rose up in
haste, and spake, and said unto his
counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king.
Suddenly King
Nebuchadnezzar jumped up in
amazement and asked his advisers, “Did we not throw three men, firmly bound, into the fire?” “Certainly, O king,” they replied.
And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king’s counsellors, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them.
and when the satraps, prefects, governors, and royal advisers had gathered around, they saw that the fire had no effect on the bodies of these men. Not a hair of their heads was singed, their robes were unaffected, and there was no smell of fire on them.
Wherefore, O king, let my
counsel be acceptable unto thee, and break off thy sins by righteousness, and thine
iniquities by
shewing mercy to the poor; if it may be a
lengthening of thy tranquility.
Therefore, may my advice be pleasing to you, O king. Break away from your sins by doing what is right, and from your
iniquities by showing mercy to the
oppressed. Perhaps there will be an extension of your prosperity.”
At the same time my reason returned unto me; and for the glory of my kingdom, mine honour and brightness returned unto me; and my counsellors and my lords sought unto me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added unto me.
At the same time my
sanity was restored, my honor and
splendor returned to me for the glory of my kingdom. My advisers and nobles sought me out, and I was restored to my throne, and
surpassing greatness was added to me.
All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the
counsellors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that
whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.
All the royal administrators, prefects, satraps, advisers, and governors have agreed that the king should establish an
ordinance and
enforce a decree that for thirty days
anyone who petitions any god or man except you, O king, will be thrown into the den of lions.
My people ask
counsel at their stocks, and their staff declareth unto them: for the spirit of whoredoms hath caused them to
err, and they have gone a
whoring from under their God.
My people
consult their wooden idols, and their divining rods inform them. For a spirit of
prostitution leads them
astray and they have played the
harlot against their God.
It shall be also carried unto Assyria for a present to king Jareb: Ephraim shall receive shame, and Israel shall be
ashamed of his own
counsel.
Yes, it will be carried to Assyria as tribute to the great king. Ephraim will be seized with shame; Israel will be
ashamed of its wooden idols.
And the sword shall
abide on his cities, and shall
consume his branches, and
devour them, because of their own
counsels.
A sword will
flash through their cities; it will destroy the bars of their gates and
consume them in their own plans.
Now why
dost thou cry out
aloud? is there no king in thee? is thy
counsellor perished? for pangs have taken thee as a woman in
travail.
Why do you now cry
aloud? Is there no king among you? Has your
counselor perished so that
anguish grips you like a woman in labor?
But they know not the thoughts of the LORD, neither understand they his
counsel: for he shall gather them as the
sheaves into the floor.
But they do not know the thoughts of the LORD or understand His plan, for He has gathered them like
sheaves to the
threshing floor.
O my people, remember now what Balak king of Moab consulted, and what
Balaam the son of Beor answered him from
Shittim unto
Gilgal; that ye may know the righteousness of the LORD.
My people, remember what Balak king of Moab
counseled and what
Balaam son of Beor answered. Remember your journey from
Shittim to
Gilgal, so that you may acknowledge the righteousness of the LORD.’”
For the statutes of Omri are kept, and all the works of the house of
Ahab, and ye walk in their
counsels; that I should make thee a
desolation, and the inhabitants thereof an
hissing: therefore ye shall bear the reproach of my people.
You have kept the statutes of Omri and all the practices of
Ahab’s house; you have followed their
counsel. Therefore I will make you a
desolation, and your inhabitants an object of contempt; you will bear the
scorn of the nations.”
There is one come out of thee, that imagineth evil against the LORD, a wicked counsellor.
Even he shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.
Yes, He will build the temple of the LORD; He will be clothed in
splendor and will sit on His throne and rule. And He will be a priest on His throne, and there will be peaceful
counsel between the two.’
When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death:
When morning came, all the chief priests and elders of the people
conspired against Jesus to put Him to death.
And they took
counsel, and bought with them the
potter’s field, to
bury strangers in.
After
conferring together, they used the money to
buy the
potter’s field as a burial place for foreigners.
And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers,
And after the chief priests had met with the elders and formed a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money
Joseph of Arimathaea, an honourable
counsellor, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto
Pilate, and
craved the body of Jesus.

Arimathea, a prominent Council member who himself was waiting for the kingdom of God, boldly went to
Pilate to ask for the body of Jesus.

Pharisees and lawyers rejected the
counsel of God against themselves, being not
baptized of him.

Pharisees and experts in the law rejected God’s purpose for themselves, because they had not been
baptized by John.
And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counsellor; and he was a good man, and a just:
Now there was a Council member named Joseph, a good and righteous man,
(The same had not consented to the counsel and deed of them;) he was of Arimathaea, a city of the Jews: who also himself waited for the kingdom of God.
who had not consented to their decision or action. He was from the
Judean town of
Arimathea, and was waiting for the kingdom of God.
Then from that day forth they took counsel together for to put him to death.
So from that day on they
plotted to kill Him.
Now
Caiaphas was he, which gave
counsel to the Jews, that it was expedient that one man should die for the people.
Caiaphas was the one who had
advised the Jews that it would be better if one man died for the people.
He was delivered up by God’s set plan and
foreknowledge, and you, by the hands of the lawless, put Him to death by
nailing Him to the cross.
For to do
whatsoever thy hand and thy
counsel determined before to be done.
They carried out what Your hand and will had decided
beforehand would happen.
When they heard that, they were cut to the heart, and took
counsel to
slay them.
When the Council members heard this, they were
enraged, and they resolved to put the apostles to death.
And now I say unto you,
Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this
counsel or this work be of men, it will come to
nought:
So in the present case I
advise you: Leave these men alone. Let them go! For if their purpose or
endeavor is of human origin, it will fail.
And after that many days were fulfilled, the Jews took counsel to kill him:
After many days had passed, the Jews
conspired to kill him,
For I have not
shunned to declare unto you all the
counsel of God.
For I did not
shrink back from declaring to you the whole will of God.
And the soldiers’
counsel was to kill the prisoners, lest any of them should
swim out, and escape.
The soldiers
planned to kill the prisoners so none of them could
swim to freedom.
For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor?
“Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been His
counselor?”
Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.
Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will
expose the motives of men’s hearts. At that time each will receive his praise from God.
In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being
predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the
counsel of his own will:
In Him we were also chosen as God’s own, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything by the counsel of His will,
Wherein God, willing more abundantly to
shew unto the heirs of promise the
immutability of his
counsel, confirmed it by an oath:
So when God wanted to make the unchanging nature of His purpose very clear to the heirs of the promise, He
guaranteed it with an oath.
I
counsel thee to
buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white
raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and
anoint thine eyes with
eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
I
counsel you to
buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, white garments so that you may be clothed and your shameful nakedness not exposed, and
salve to
anoint your eyes so that you may see.
For that he had turned the
counsel of the king of Assyria toward them, to
strengthen their hands in the works of the Lord God of Israel.
As many therefore as have a mind
thereunto, let them depart with thee, as it hath seemed good both to me and my seven friends the
counsellors;
And hath honoured me in the sight of the king, and his counsellors, and all his friends and nobles.
Am not I even he that brought them out of the land of Egypt, from the house of
bondage? but they have
provoked me unto wrath, and
despised my
counsels.
Thus saith the Lord, I brought this people out of
bondage, and I gave them my commandments by menservants the prophets; whom they would not hear, but
despised my
counsels.
For thy help will I send my servants
Esau and Jeremy, after whose
counsel I have
sanctified and prepared for thee twelve trees
laden with
divers fruits,
He answered me, and said, I went into a forest into a plain, and the trees took counsel,
The floods of the sea also in like manner took
counsel, and said, Come, let us go up and
subdue the woods of the plain, that there also we may make us another country.
Do not so, but be
counselled. by me: for how many are the
adversities of
Sion? be comforted in regard of the sorrow of Jerusalem.
But they took this counsel among themselves, that they would leave the multitude of the heathen, and go forth into a further country, where never mankind dwelt,
Ask
counsel of all that are wise, and
despise not any
counsel that is profitable.
